    Thanks for the support!

To be honest, criticism comes with the job. I'm not fond of personal attacks, but I understand that people are passionate. Heck, I worked in a comic book store (yep, I was comic book guy), so I understand the vagaries of working with the customer. One thing is tantamount, however - you guys are the PAYING subscribers. I might not like the feedback, but everyone is entitled to an opinion. Admittedly, honey is usually more effective than vinegar, but I always try to look beyond that...

You've come a long way, PR-wise, in the last two years.

And yes, all of this bug fixing has pushed out I8 beyond the original "September" estimate I gave back in May.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Better to release it as clean as possible than as early as possible, I always say.

I bugged this in-game, on the test server. I figured it was worth posting here, too. Sorry if someone else has posted this.

The banded option for gloves on test seems to have been passed over in the recent patch for costume pieces. It's the old list, in the old order, with the old names, and doesn't have the Tech Crey option.

    Sorry, no screenshot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought so too, but it's there--just harder to find.

By the way, nice changes overall, Jay.

Nope. That's why I said "Can't." Well, actually, we could ask for new code to do that, but it isn't really something we want currently.

You want to ask for the code to exempt certain powers from ED. And.... you're awake! [SNAP] [ /Little Britain hypnotist Kenny Craig ]

    A fond farewell

    [ QUOTE ]
I am not spying on you guys, I really am on vacation - but I had to stop by and wish a fond farewell to both Arctic and Alexa.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Awww.... Cuppa can't think of a way to quit us.

Thanks for your feedback. As you know, we've already sped up the NPC's in Escort missions, which seems to be the number one request!

I've also noted that you'd like allies to fight sooner, more control over allies/NPC's, NPC's appearing on the map and better notification when protecting the artifact is over...I'm not sure how much of this we'll get done for I5, but if we don't, I'll put this into the quality of life fixes and try to get them done at some time in the near future.

    [/ QUOTE ]

How about an I5 with new villian AI, boobytraps in missions, brand new arcs, and especially something more than punch these bad guys, click those blinkies?

The problems with CoH are evidenced here:

This is one of the rare instances in Issue 5 where a solo character is able to reach a cap without help (or inspirations).

Good to see you're not trying to force teaming--for Blasters.
  8. Mr. Emmert,

Good luck and godspeed to your brother.

Positron and I will also be reading all of the threads over this week and we HOPE to post updates or responses on every single one.

Now, I'll wax philosophic for a moment. Before I left, I posted a couple of things that a few posters thought were "flippant" or "snarky." I certainly didn't intend either...but here's the reality. I do NOT pass my posts through PR, community relations or anyone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You might want to consider it, since you're supposed to be a professional in business, and your responses are sometimes neither professional, nor businesslike.

    [ QUOTE ]
I post, well, exactly as I think. So sometimes I won't sound polished like a snake oil salesman.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So, to be honest you must be flippant, and to not be flippant is to be a liar? Interesting.

I would suggest that to have the lead designer wading through thousands of posts is a waste of his time and talents, to be honest.

But MY real disappointment was that in a topic thread with so many honest concerns, so many good ideas, so many respectful questions of you--your only post was to make the flippant remark you did.

Okay, it was your honest thought. That's fine. It's not appropriate to always speak your most honest of thoughts, especially when your time could be better spent answering why there's little different content in issue 5. Why not reply to those of us who have asked about that? Or address other concerns we have? If you only have time for one post in a thread, should you really be spending it in a manner that will annoy the customer to whom you're replying?

    [ QUOTE ]
Sometimes, I'll sound just like any other gamer out there. I could have someone edit everything I post - but that would inevitably delay responses and cut back on communication.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If it will mean more QUALITY posts out of the Dev team, and more professional posts, I'll take it.

    With sincerity...

If I missed something - I apologize - i'm exhausted. I will revisit in the AM but feel free to send me a PM as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think you're working above and beyond the call of duty. I'm sure I speak for many of us when I thank you for your efforts, as well as those of the Devs.

    Changes to Rage

I think this thread really shows me that I'm just not right for this kind of game. I don't care for all the constant changing of the rules (as I consider the constant tweaking of powers to be changing the rules under which I play).

Rather than throwing better challenges at the player, the Devs want to make the game more challenging by looking at the most successful methods of play and weakening them to where they're suddenly a challenge. I just don't care for it. People tell me that's the way these games are.

Okay. This is the first I've ever played, so I take people's word for that. But it will also be the last one I play. To put hundreds of hours into playing and crafting a toon and really becoming a hero, only to be told "you're exploiting" or "you're doing it wrong" or "it's not fair that you play this well," is just too frustrating to put up with.
  11. I am sincerely impressed.

    Changes to Rage

    [ QUOTE ]
Many players complained about the stun at the end of Rage because it turned off toggles and left them helpless. At the same time, hardcore players with perma-unstoppable or Unyielding were able to avoid the Stun effect. Thus the casual player was getting penalized and hardcore player wasn’t getting the desired penalty. We're still looking at the issue - so feel free to post your thoughts & ideas!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just out of curiousity, do you not wish there to BE "hardcore" players? Should people not strive to come up with ways to do their best?

I must say, I really don't care for the direction this game is taking.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Sounds like this player has invested in 4 powers - 3 of which he choose, and most of which he has probably slotted more than 6, and he still cannot fly. How much more of an investment did he make compared to your 1 power? How much did he have to give up compared to you and he still cannot go vertical.

No matter how you slice it, flying is ultimately safer than super speed, and offer an undeniable vertical advantage over super speed (or in this case, 4 other speed powers). If flyspeed had the same max as runspeed, why would anyone ever take superspeed?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have a speedster friend who likes to make fun of my flight speed. I just say, "Okay...race you to the top of that skyscraper."
  14. It's called a rhetorical question, to make a point.
  15. Um.... why would anyone have respeced at all necessarily? I did once, dropped one power I didn't like, and have never done the thing again. To suggest someone isn't a good player because they don't do respecs is silly.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Yes, there are some bugs - that's inevitable. Typos, etc. A team gathers these from the forums, puts them in the database, and then we have at them.

But sometimes a bug isn't serious enough to hold up a release - that's when we decide to go live with something. We know that there might be some niggling details to address over the next few weeks.

As for the Invulnerability, Kheldian, Burn, etc. feedback - all of it was read and considered. We were pleased with the data we received and thought that the changes met our goals. That isn't to say that we might not tweak these things further - but by and large, we are happy with the changes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Well, I'm not.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Just FYI...you should get a free respec soon to help ease the pain and adjust to the changes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do I get a refund for the time I can't play until the respec comes?
  18. Your changes to the invuln set have caused me to cancel.

Nice job--I had been enjoying until you made it so that I can't tank after putting 9 months and 610 hours into my toon.
