I'm sure the DCMA had a large part to do with it as they have always been quick to react to this kind of thing. That, and the fact they [NCSof & at the time Cryptic] could press that since clones of Marvel's characters were made by it's employees under it's direction those where authorized duplications and thus fall under the aforementioned non-exclusive rights claim hidden in the EULA.

Quote:Rant not needed - or do you think the devs don't know we want this? The issue is coding - the most precious thing for any game. And how to store the data? As you can change pool powers it is not the same as storing the data for customized primary/secondary.I'd like to hijack this thread to once again make an futile request that I/we the community have the option to disable the graphics of any power in the game which covers parts of the character's body and/or the entire body.
Hasten, Super Speed, Ice Shields, etc.
Disabling primary and secondary graphics will never happen which I acknowledge but at least they can offer a disable option for some of the pool powers.
/endrant
Just to clarify - only the pre-order sprints and not the power slide as the slide is/was offered as an explicit purchase and not a freebie. -
From what I recall hearing, part of why the Marvel MMO was pulled is that Microsoft was one of the backers and couldn't be promised it would a success of WoWing proportions and thus backed out.

Someone did some digging and found the system wasn't a P2P but something that begins with an A... The official thread has it. Basically the data is caches at several locations by supporting ISPs from what I recall reading. Last I heard, anyway. Which is nice because too many people doing bad things (which may or may not merely include people using thenservice they were promised and paid for) with various P2P has cause ISPs to throttle them no matter what the usage from what I've read of others' complaints.

Then it sounds like your run was bugged - from what I've observed the intent is that her vacation in the middle shouldn't count. But you just need to kill all the non-swords that spawn fast anyway because as I recall she regens somewhat when off map.

Quote:Enjoy the Master of Tin MageI did Apex for the first time last night (I've been away from the game for about 6 months) and managed to get this on the first try. I didn't even know this badge existed, but then again I am really behind on the new ones. I got lucky, but after all the heartache and time it took to get MoSTF on my badger, I think I was owed an easy one.
that one is similar but takes more doing to do

I think so. You can always type the name in brackets in chat to check the Info tab. So for Call to justice type "[Call to Justice]". Also, check Paragonwiki - It should mention there if they are not (won't mention if they are).

I think victory has the bigger Euro population for the U.S. servers which also helps a little.

Quote:Depending on the name, you may also win the name back depending on how similar your character is (or rather, isn't) but names like "dark flash"... No hopeFirst off, someone has to report you for it to get gen'd. Second, they usually look for name and look infringment if it's not like say a marvel toon name or something obvious. The name you mentioned seems pretty generic. Third, they give you the option to renamed generic'd toons for free they have you send them 3 choices by replying to the "you have been generic'd" email.
And DC did have a Dark Flash character (currently in "Where did I go?" Retcon Limbo) -
Quote:Worst thing is, I started buying ebooks before I even owned a Kindle or iDevice - I read them on the computer!GGGGGYYYYYAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
damn him, damn him all to heck. i've waited years to get my hands on the wild card books, and finally they release them in e-book format, but somehow forgot number 2, they put out 1,3,4, and 5....... i was livid when i finished 1 and couldn't find number 2.
And while he might not have control, if his publisher has any respect for him, him asking about could probably help.
Try sending an email to the publisher. -
Quote:1 - Have you ever tried copy/pasting the original message into a new email and reply thus? This.
You know, it takes a lot to piss the Cai off, but this managed to do the job perfectly. The best part for me is that the email address associated with my main account makes replying to the support tickets almost impossible since it sends the original message as an attachment, thus not allowing me to put new information into the correct space provided on the original email.
Looks like I have a fun afternoon of listening to elevator music ahead of me.
2 - You can update your support ticket/reply to their emails via the Support site even if they send you an email.
Quote:Don't even get me started on that. I'm registered unter a @gmail adress. But it sends with @googlemail so their system never accepts it anyway. And still, I refuse to jump through any of their hoops. I got my vaild information. It is NCSoft that's not letting me in this it, hence their tech issue. Fun fact is that I'm actualy going to have to contact paypal and my credit card company to stop payment becuase I won't be able to even cancel my accounts.
1) Log into the support site and try adding the googlemail.com version as an alternate address (note this may result in getting each response twice!)
2) Log into support and reply there.
3) Check the Gmail help settings, I could swear there is a method to change how the email is sent (address wise) so it would appear as from the @gmail address.
Quote:This should have been voluntary, for one it's to buggy i.e. case sensitive, it completly locks you out. botom line it's just wrong. now I have to go through a load of crap to reset my account and if anything happens I have no way to fix it. And with phone times tring to get ahold of someone to reset my account is rediculous. Like I said it should have been voluntary.
Quote:From the NCsoft support article (Account Information Field Descriptions):
Not just the last code, ALL of your serial codes.
Also, not sure if it will help, but try including the last four of your current card if you remember when you changed it.
Quote:Well, I am sure I entered mine once upon a time and I think I know the answer, but I am not sure. Plus, if I get the caps wrong, I'm out of luck. Good thing this was implemented during the loyalty period . . .
Oh, and Ruby Red - the red text is cute, but hard to read on the red background, and blue as well as I recall. -
Quote:To be fair, with the old launcher it wasn't so much as clicking through the EULA as double-clicking the play button. For Customers/Players:
- Even though NCSoft may not have implemented this Launcher well, some folks posting on the forums regarding this need to STOP with the mindless drivel about the 'new' EULA clicking on the load screen. What is the big deal? You've been doing this same action since the day you started playing the game! Be a part of the solution; not the problem. Provide a better solution in suport tickets or via the forums. The mindless complaining about clicking on the new EULA "I accept" button on the load screen vs the CoH Loaders's EULA window that we've had since game's launch is insipid, folks. STOP. It's the same thing you've done EVERY time you've logged into the game, just now on a load screen vs the EULA window. The level of trite in complaining about this is sickening and embarrasing. Don't like this new EULA 'I agree' locational change? See the next bulleted item below.
However, I agree with you although I would like to see them eventual move the EULA to First Login and First Login after Update. -
Hey Tex!
I appreciate the work you folks at NCSoft are doing. Hope this gets fixed up real soon (for your sakes as well as mine); I admit I'm not installing the launcher right now, but by this time next week I should be on a new computer
If you can, next time something like this happens, A) give us warning (more about the other big recent change) and B) try releasing it on the Test server (or in their forums, at least) first. Might lessen the over-wrought reactions next time. I also understand that your corporate overlords might not be giving you enough time for that kind of stuff, but if you can pass it on up from us?
Quote:There's being critical to the chef, then there is taking a dump on a plate, saying "This is what you served me" and forcing it in their face all because they do something different than what your taste buds are used to.cant do it? welp... critism is part of everyones job. we all get told how good or bad we're doing from one source or another. eventually the problems will be resolved, more information will flow from the devs and code writers, tempers will tamp down, and life and gaming will go on. until then... people are upset. you're going to hear about it. thats just how it works.
Quote:Let me guess, running Linux and Wine? *smirks* No, actually .Net in 7 works really well, for most of us.
Answer is the same as it was to someone else earlier in the thread and I hate to be the one to break it to you (well..not really)
1) Deal with it.
or
2) Quit CoH.
As it's a mandatory change.
Quote:The rednames are SASSING us now? Good to see customer satisfaction is still NCSoft's #1 priority.
Especially since City was never made to work with the launcher - that kind of thing will always provide problems during transition. -
It's the NCSoft master account, so it is System wide.
-
Quote:They definitely should of given warning. If you get the questions wrong five times you are locked out of your master account.
I hope you all have good memories. There should have been an option to put in new information rather than hope people can remember what was said years ago. I for one NEVER give real info (mothers maiden name etc) that is bad security.
Quote:What a <censored> joke. If you make a purchase with the NCsoft store, YOU DON'T GET THE FULL CODE. Some one really should have job discipline action taken on them for this.
Quote:Looks like it's time to email bomb Support. Based on their reputation, I expect this to be sorted out in no time at all!
Also, why should I care if my account gets hacked? Is some beneficent hacker going to buy me the Mutant Pack?
Quote:So can we finally change having to have same password on our master account as the forum here. Its way to easy to hijack wireless users auth sessions and get not only thier forum account but master as well.
Quote:Oh, and I just realized that my daughter's account was originally setup by her uncle, then I took over the billing. Which means that I'm never going to get access to that account again... we can't get in touch with him, and he's sure as hell not going to remember (or care) what he entered for his security questions five or six years ago. AWESOME.
While this is the most ill-executed bit of "Good Intentions" I've seen from almost any game (Rift's account naming I think beats it out by a hair) the people at support for this game do generally want to help. -
As I recall, I use the mouse wheel/mouse 3. On a PC at least, I know one or more of the pgup/pgdn/delete block of keys does this. Check your settings under the keybinding tab from the options window off the menu.
-
First I just want to reinforce what White Hot Flash and others mentioned - they have never dumped all the features/bits/etc in the initial info page for an issue. I could see them not mentioning power proliferati. (common ice staplers/scrappers!)
Quote:Power customization was a major system. It was not just a few powers/costume bits/etc.Utterly and completely disagree.
Issue 16 was VERY defining for this game. I'd say the one thing just about everyone remembers from that issue was Power Customization.
Also NEW sets can very MUCH define an issue. See powerset proliferation.
That statement of yours I bolded is VERY MUCH opinion for MANY subscribers, and is in fact NOT a fact. At all. -

Quote:Probably referring to the rewards like the attack powers awarded as pseudobadges and the actual veteran reward badges which spam you on logging a new character the first time.Vet rewards are available at character creation, NOT awarded on login. For example, if you have the 15 month badge, you can create a character with Angel or Demon wings, you don't need to log in before you can use them.
Everything added on an account level functions this way: Vet Rewards, Booster Packs, etc. -
A note about day jobs:
Logging out in a dayjob location without the day job badge usually awards a passive power (markets award a long recharge teleport). If you have the badge you get a better and/or faster accumulating benefit. (markets grant a faster recharging teleport).
Certain pairs award accolades - attacks, heals and other bonuses are accumulated once the dayjob accolade is awarded when you log out in either location of the accolade. -
Name, especially for an established character, can help tell powerset info as well.

Quote:There are also the badges - they don't progress on the initial run of the week - only on the runs of the WST you do that happen after. Thanks for link.
OK, so both the "bonus xp" and the "double merits" are treated like the Notice of the Well in terms of once a week rewards? Hmm, that's too bad, really reduces the incentive to do non-component TFs as WST after the first one, since there's no shards/components for 50s and no extra reward for non-50s.
