Quote:1. I'm with Gehnen. Just because you can't kill them doesn't mean you can't make them suffer. I think if they survive it's broken for life with thirty years or so stripped from their normal lifespan. A Warshade's gotta eat.1. Since we don't kill our enemies as Heroes in COH, what do you think Stygian Circle is doing our defeated opponents? I'm assuming we're drawing on their life force to make ourselves stronger, but what effect does that have on our foes when they recover? (I'm leaning towards them having nightmares at the very least ...)
2. Anyone worked out a good system for coming up with Kheldian/Nictus names? I loved the name of Reqiuem's half-- Dirge of Entropy-- and I have yet to come up with the "Right" name for Shade's Kheldian half.
3. On a non-RP note, just how good are Unchain Essence, Twilight Shield, and Stygian Return? I want to use the human form as much as possible to differentiate the play of my Warshade from my PB.
2. My Warshade was a continuation of my Blaster (50s nos. 1 and 2.) and he altered part of his name to mark the merger. Rainbow Avenger became Rainbow Arcana. Being energy creatures I doubt Nicti have names in the human sense. Rain just calls his "Nic."
3. I'd rate them 5-star, 1-star and 3-star in that order. They're all considered skippable to some degree. Twilight most so because of Eclipse. People either love or hate Unchain. I use it instead of Quasar. Stygian is a nice-but-not-necessary QoL power if you can fit it in. -
If safety rather then DPS is your primary concern then */Devices. Very easy to achieve very respectable ranged defense very cheaply. Can stealth missions.
Energy/Ice has terrible synergy. Teammates will hate the knockback and you'll be constantly knocking targets off your own ice patches. Anything/Fire is a debt farm. -
Every well-dressed 'Shade needs to wear purple.

I am getting chronic sound looping and stuttering. Some sounds lag behind the attack animation by a second then loop several times over top of the current sound, which tends to stutter. I bugged this on test weeks ago and I was more resigned than surprised that it's made it to live.
Lag seems to be a factor but not the sole cause. The stuttering is worse in laggy zones or large teams and less frequent when solo but is never entirely absent.
My video card is an nVidia 9600GT. The video driver is up-to-date but my audio driver probably isn't. Win XP Pro. AMD processor.
I currently have Ultra disabled (I selected "Cancel" at initial log-in) and am in the process of tweaking to find the best combination of settings.
I've asked around and I seem to be the only person having this issue. Any ideas? -
I've got a Fire/Rad. I can't stand him but for you darling, I'll slot Fallout for recharge.
-
A friend and I exited a villain-side mission and somehow ended up stuck in the doorway geometry (the door itself missing) face to face with our bodies collided together at the hip in ways that would make Statesman blush. Twisting and wriggling failed to separate us but generated a great deal of giggling.
Still have the pictures somewhere. -
Quote:An sgmate has a Necro MM zombie Abe Lincoln whose pets are dead presidents (named openly) with matching amusing petsay quotes. "I am not a crook!" *baarf*While it's unlikely that you'll have anything happen for creating zombie Benjamin Franklin, it looks to me like NCSoft is well within their right specified by the EULA to generic you for it. IANAL.
He doesn't play much anymore but he used to get petitioned all the time. Unsuccessfully. -
I have an sgmate in his mid 60s and the SG as a group is mainly 40-somethings. We enjoy how he makes us the young ones.

A Brute named Eva Braun whose bio said "Yes, I'm Adolf Hitler's girlfriend Eva Braun."
A Stalker named Dark Executor. Stabs people and then arranges the reading of the will I guess.
A fire/kin named Fire Kin. -
Yeah they used to. The /e sit used to make you sit embedded waist deep in the geometry. I don't recall what if anything was wrong with /e teabag. It looked cute actually. The devs "fixed" them by removing them altogether. Nice job, fellas.

Quote:I disagree. This is obviously a balanced human-centric triform build. Fitness is worth taking for this play style but not worth slotting. The pool is worth it for Swift, unless you want to slouch around with Ninja Run or keep Sprint toggled, and it's worth it for set muling Health.Lose the Fitness pool, it's a waste of power choices. Stamina doesn't carry over to Nova/Dwarf forms, and Stygian Circle makes it redundant in human form.
Speaking of which - drop the Miracle unique in Health. +Recovery is just about the least useful bonus for a Warshade and you have way better things to spend a couple of hundred million on.
Take the second slot out of Grav Shield, put it in Absorption and add a Steadfast Res/Def unique. Spend the money you saved not buying that Miracle.
Rather than frankenslotting human Mire, I'd use three Obliterations for the damage bonus. I'd also have more slots in Orbiting Death and fewer in Nova but that's just individual taste.
If you want to boost your knockback protection from -4 to -8, add another slot to Shadow Cloak and pop a Karma -kb in there.
You probably don't need Essence Drain. Whee! More slots!
No Unchain Essence makes me a sad squid but YMMV. I'd take it over Quasar but again that's a taste thing.
Stygian Circle is overslotted. Two will do and three is plenty. Put one of those slots into Hasten because if you're going to take it you may as well slot it up.
If two slots is all you can afford for Inky Aspect, give it a pair of Endoplasms.
Quasar... (Indiana Jones voice) Why is it always Quasar...? If you want this piece of... wonderful power, consider three Obliterations, as with Mire.
Penumbral Shield is sort of skippable but I can see that you've run out of other things to take. And it IS the shield effect that Voids use. It will look great in Pocket D when you make your obligatory Void costume to pose in. (What, you didn't know this? Oh yes, Warshade tradition.) Doesn't mean it needs that second slot. Yank that puppy and give it to your nuke.
--Form Powers--
Nova Emanation is underslotted. Four slots, young man/woman/person or you get no dessert! Take it from Nova Detonation.
Frankenslotting Dwarf Strike with a pair of acc/dmg IOs enhances you by 53%. A pair of Nucleoluses will enhance the same attack by 66.6%.
Dwarf Antagonise: Unless the devs have buffed this (and I might be out of date), it requires accuracy because it is not autohit. I'm happy to be corrected on this one as I've always thought it a stupid limitation.
This build will keep you for a while. Ultimately you're going to want a heck of a lot more global recharge. -
Quote:*Huggles AlienOne*LOL-worthy.
Just thought I'd put that out there.
Seriously, I have no idea why I keep visiting this section of the forums anymore. My head hurts.
"Alien"
I leave for a while and all the old warriors disappear? Wait, let me test this...
*Clears throat* Orbiting Death is the BEST WARSHADE POWER EVER. *Ducks. Peers around.*
Let's see if that flushes anyone out. Ok, farming. Yes you can farm on a Warshade. My primary hero that I use for occasional farming is my Warshade. He's faster then my Fire Dominator or my Scrapper. He can function on teams set for eight but the sweet spot is five or six. Any more than that and he spends too much time tanking aggro off the pets. Any less and Eclipse doesn't hard cap S/L resist for lack of enough targets. I use human form exclusively. I do NOT currently have perma-Eclipse, Hasten or a purple build.
Basically you rotate between Eclipse and Mire, use Unchain Essence when it's up, summon pets when you can and keep the mobs in your Inky Aspect. Focus on the lieutenants and let OD and your pets chew up the minions. -
Square_One - any chance you can edit your pasted build? Your code is showing.
I love how people are catching on to using HOs, especially in Gravity Well. I use this slotting: 1 Nucleolus, 1 Endoplasm, 2 Peroxisome. Enhances accuracy (66.6%), hold (94.9%), damage (94.9%). Now you don't have to choose between slotting for damage or mez. If you can afford to 6-slot it, the two Lockdown recharge doubles will also give you a global damage buff and should make the hold stackable with Hasten or a bit of global recharge. -
The bargain purple set most relevant to your needs is one you already have - the Soulbounds. My koosh pet uses four of them. Gravitic Anchors are nice too but those ones are pricier. Most purple sets of use to you are going to be astronomical.
Unchain Essence is a highly amusing attack. It's a love-it-or-hate-it power however, it takes a bit to practise to get the timing right and benefits from a targeting macro. To answer your question - yes it needs to be slotted to be effective. It's not worth the pick if you can't afford to slot it.
Now that I look more closely I can see how you're using the Concealment pool for set mules. As much as set muling makes me twitch a bit, you don't have a lot of options. If you prefer a forms-centred play style, Fighting, Fitness and Leadership aren't suitable to you. Presence would be highly situational and you'd have to underslot to the point of losing effectiveness. That only leaves Medicine, which can be useful with fewer slots and can be used to mule the Numina and Miracle uniques. That will cost another half-billion but you can deduct it from the money you save on Zephyrs. >.>
Ok I'm going to stop before I get silly. -
Your budgeting priorities are interesting. You know that some purples are actually cheaper then the Zephyrs, the LotG +recharges and all those Obliterations? I'm guesstimating the cost of the build you've linked at around three billion. That's not a criticism - just pointing it out.
Sets:
- Touch of the Nictus in Dwarf Drain is not benefiting you. 2.5% +end? Who cares - that's what Stygian is for.
- The sixth Crushing Impact in Dwarf Smite is wasted. Dump that slot into Hasten. You need the five seconds of +recharge a lot more then you need 2.5% psi resist.
- I agree with Square_One about that Soulbound Allegiance proc. I doubt the cost will be worth the benefit, especially since you prefer a forms-based playstyle.
- Yes, I also agree that Stygian is a bit overslotted. Two is fine.
- I disagree about the -kb slotting. You'll notice a big difference between -4 mag and -8. You've got -16 however, and that's overkill.
- You're over the cap on the 5% recharge and 9% accuracy bonuses. Swapping out the TotN set will fix one of those right off.
Shadow Cloak & Super Speed AND Invisibility & Stealth? Do these even stack? Someone else weigh in - I really don't know. That seems like an awful lot of power picks devoted to not being seen. -
And as usual it runs until slightly before the heat death of the universe. I can barely wait until they announce they're extending it by a week because one server crashed for ten minutes.
Hint to the devs: Less is more. -
I've played with Prole for four years. Shaftist survived because amongst other qualities Prole is the best tank I've ever seen. He has superlative environmental awareness in a society where the concept is rapidly disappearing. If he says he did it, he did it.

Quote:Poor BaBs. If he thinks a normal woman walks like that they need to unchain him from his desk and let him out more often. That exaggerated wiggle is far more ****** then heroine. It'll go over gangbusters in Pocket D.Not to mention that it's been well-documented that BABs worked on this power during his "free time" (whatever THAT is
), so there weren't any "wasted" resources.

Quote:A thousand times this. I took three weeks off from CoH because of the continual depressing darkness. Next time, why not just flip the day/night cycle for the duration? This. Absolutely this, to the 10 billionth power.
I'd much rather have the normal day/night routine, with the events happening during the night (or maybe causing darkness during the daylight for the course of the event).
Ideally, I'd have liked some sort of gradual build up - the first couple of days or so, have some of the event beasties roaming the streets at night. Maybe have citizens on the streets start saying things like "It's getting late - we'd better get inside!" Then start having brief periods of preternatural darkness happen during the daylight hours, with more beasties showing up, with the periods of darkness lasting longer and longer and eventually building up to full blown Apocalypse events.
But as to how that would work with the Trick or Treat thing, I don't know. I wouldn't mind Trick or Treat only happening during the night, but I suspect I'm in the minority in that regard.
Anyway, it was a fun event - although I felt it went on a little too long and I'm glad it's over. -
Special characters would be great provided there's a limit on which ones are available. The "other MMO" allows pretty unlimited use of special characters and there are a lot of grotesquely ugly and immersion breaking names because of it. Accented characters commonly used in languages like French or German would be nice.

I play surrounded by book shelves. If I'm stuck for a name I scan the spines. Names I've gotten in the last year:
Hasta (Latin for "spear")
Zoolook
Caisson
Talavera
Dolce Vita
Decameron
A friend got Riflewoman just yesterday. This is all on Virtue. I honestly can't remember the last time I didn't get the name I wanted by the second try.
Given the length of time this game has been running, there's probably far more good names tied up by retired level 50s then there are by inactive level 6s, and Paragon won't touch those as long as there's a sane dev left in the building.
[edit] Another friend just logged in and got Stage and Gasket Case on the first try. No good names left? *shrugs* -
This event needs to be much shorter in the future. Three weeks of darkness and disruption is two weeks too long. The first Halloween event back in 2004 was about four days long.

Quote:1. That would work too. I don't care about the details of implementation. I'm concerned about the impact on low level soloability in a game that usually caters well to soloists.1: Instead, how about making them honor the Bosses/No Bosses preference in the difficulty settings. Most of my lowbies rather enjoyed the nomarific experience from those bosses (as well as the chance at nice rare recipe drops and chance for large inspirations, even if they were pretty tough fights at times.
2: Agreed. Give us a few more zombies, since the badge for them is the second highest requirement of them all.
3: You can adjust the ambient lighting in the costume creator now. It's that pair of buttons underneath the character.
3. (Also Fulmens) Yes I know about the Icon lighting option. Spinning in place isn't the same as testing the look of a costume in action. Nor does Icon have dawn or dusk lighting. -
While E(veryones) MMV, count me amongst the group who aren't finding this event much fun this year. I tried solo ToTing with a lvl 14 Scrapper and died five times in thirty minutes at the hands of boss spawns. Sure, no debt - but no xp or treats either. Not what I consider fun. Maybe after 60 months I'm jaded, but an event that inspires me to re-up my WoW account for a month is not one I'd class as an unqualified success.
Things that I would do if I was Posi: :P
- Doors in zones lower then Talos Island (i.e. zones where players are pre-Stamina) should be coded to not spawn bosses.
- Zombie scaling needs to be addressed.
- Give us a scrap of blessed daylight. Maybe reverse the day/night cycle. Personally, I find the weeks of perpetual darkness sort of depressing. It also makes it impossible to design costumes properly.
