  1. A short suggestion: in the AE building lounge*, there's a pair of doors to the far left, pretty much opposite to the entrance doors, that don't lead anywhere. Thus, it would be convenient to have those doors act as an entrance to the green matrixy pillar. That way, players tweaking their arcs don't have to run all the way out into the main building to check on their changes, but can instead take a much closer door.

But if it's not dead, then it's at least been digitized.

Eh, I don't see how that would be a bad thing. Besides, temp travel powers are still slower than their pool power counterparts, especially since they can't be enhanced.

On the whole, I don't see why temp travel powers shouldn't be more convenient to pick up.
  4. Like other said, the Vahzilok are one of the toughest groups you can run into at the starting levels. Collectively, they're something of a glass cannon - a large team can plow through them before they can start fighting back, but for a solo low-level character, they can be more of a headache than they're worth.

    Also, as others mentioned, you can cheerfully set that particular mission by the wayside and gain a few level if you want to take a crack at it with odds more in your favor. At the low low levels, you have several options;

Sewer teams, often formed in the Atlas Park zone, are very popular - essentially, a team of low-level heroes going into the Sewer Network zone and simply tearing through whatever's in their way for a few levels. Most sewer runs will get you to at least Lv5 before people decide to break and train to gain new powers.

Street hunting, while not particularly efficient, are still a valid option if you prefer to solo, especially as you can pick and choose your battles.

As there are usually plenty of teams running around at any given time, you can always join an existing one. In the starting zones, it's pretty effective just to say you're looking for a team in the Broadcast channel {command is /b}. If you mention you're new to the game, odds are someone will go out of their way to help you get your feet on the ground as well.

Lastly, there's Architect Entertainment, though that presents the problem of finding a low-level arc you might enjoy*. The MA forum is a good place to ask for recommendations.

And finally, let me add my welcome to the City of Heroes as well as the forums. If you need help with anything, well, you're already in the right place.

  5. I think the main problem involved here is the same one with cross-server anything - how do deal with name clashes?

I've tried doing that on Virtue. The channel's still deader than disco.

Extinguisher temp power has a limited number of charges. What when you run out? {remember, it's not autohit} Do you have to run outside and pick up another one?

    Can't Run CoH

There's not enough info to really guess - does the game manage to start if you start it in safe mode?

    Isolater Badge

You have the opportunity of getting the badge once you've hit Lv25 - one mission the Ouroboros introduction arc sends you back to Outbreak, where you can fight off enough Infected to earn the badge. You can also flashback that same arc, so the badge opportunity never really expires.
  10. If you bought a serial key from the NCsoft store, it's applied automatically to your account - there's no need to find it, as it's already active.

Also sounds feasible and I'm not sure why it's not working like that by design. It certainly sounds simpler to have global channel affiliation stored in character data, rather than the global server.
  12. Hmmm, that's odd. If you've copied the CoH files from elsewhere {like another computer etc.}, go to the CoH folder and delete the file named... checksum something, then start the client. That will make the game verify the files again and only download files which might be out of date.

Oh, and welcome to the forums.

Well, yeah - like I mentioned before, cranking up channel capacity enough would remove the need for population management altogether, and it seems simpler than building functionality for said management from scratch.
  14. And... kinda lacking a slot to insert the card into? The product blurb says it's a testing and diagnostic tool, not an actual extension.
  15. Here's a question - since I'll probably be replacing my GPU for the upcoming ultra mode, I was thinking about plugging my current card into the computer at work. Unfortunately, since it's one of those small form factor cases, I'd probably have trouble fitting it in. Thus, in a burst of futile hope, I was wondering if there are "extension cords" for graphics cards - something that would allow a card to be connected from outside the computer itself {and presumably in a container}. Do such things exist, or am I SOL?
  16. but auto-demote is not and does not imply auto-kick

Thus, "something akin" rather than "just like". In any case, supergroups have a mechanic where a certain action is taken if a member's last time online exceeds X days. Insert standard code rant, of course.

rejoin is always a hassle if you have to repeat it for each toon

Yes, but you automatically rejoin a channel if your chat layout demands it. Run an experiment: Type in /chatsave {that will save your chat layout}, then quit your global channel(s). Then, type in /chatload {which will reload your saved chat layout}, and you'll notice that it has also automatically added you to those chat channels you left a minute ago.

That sounds like a workable solution - something akin to auto-demote in supergroups, the exact value defined by commandline or UI by mods.

You could set it to a low number for open channels, since you automatically rejoin a channel when your chat UI loads {try it with /chatloadfile}, and a more relaxed one for private channels where rejoining might be more of a hassle.

  22. Now that our resident tall, dark and ethereal leader has stepped in and put the lid on the boiling pot of unadulterated hostility between man and machine, poster and poser, master of content and lord of shiny {and just when it was going good, too}, it's time for some

    UNFOUNDED RAMPANT MASS GUESSWORK!

Specifically, what will the name of Issue 17 be? We'll have both content and polish, but will that be all? What else hides under what little information we've been given? 5th Column? Rikti? Nemesis again? The complete and utter annihilation of Paragon City and its replacement by a giant bowl of cheese, with zones such as Brietown, Cheddartoa and Roquefortline? We may not know, but when has that ever stopped us from knowing that we do?

    Let the guessing begin!
  23. I'm all for improving global channels, especially when it comes to capacity, but I'm opposed to changing the fundamental principles of globals - the idea behind them is good, but the tools are weak. Besides, we already have several server channels, albeit they could still bear fixing.

You seem to be right. I set my Lv1-15 Skulls mission difficulty to +4 and it busted me down to Lv11.

    Laaaame!
  25. Four? Meh, just remove the limit altogether, vet reward or no. I don't really see the point of a limited mission roster.
