I'm 33 years old and live in southern West Virginia.
I can actually spit accross the border into Virginia.
[/ QUOTE ]
Bet you're pretty close to where I am, then. I'm in Russell County, pretty close to the WV border. -
Deadboy is from Arlington, IIRC. Or maybe Alexandria. I forget. I'm from about 5 hours away, in southwest Virginia. Was just up that direction around New Years, spent two days walking around the Smithsonian.

wait is that age a typo? i thought you were already 15?
[/ QUOTE ]
when did i say that?
[/ QUOTE ]
i swear all your other posts referring to your age pegged you at 15.
[/ QUOTE ]
*nod* I tried to search for it, but the board's search function doesn't work with numbers for some odd reason. -
Ya know, this is my first MMO and I expected to feel old when I started playing it. I figured the average player age would be somewhere around 16 or 17, but I find now that it's quite a bit higher. In fact, there seems to be just as many people older than me as there are younger than me, so if I had to guess at it I'd say the average is somewhere around the mid- to upper-20s.
-
I think she was saying she was 15 earlier because she was about to turn it, like how I say I'm 28 even though I don't turn it until August. I'm just closer to 28 than 27 at this point... I'm rounding up.

1) 5% in PvP? So other players count as minions for purposes of determining criticals?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah really. Didn't you just say in the Brute thread about fury that players counted as AVs for fury building purposes? But they only count as minions for critical chance? That doesn't seem right. -

My thoughts both yesterday and today are primarily directed at the people on these forums who clearly know better and have actually defended tooth and nail other people who have done similar things in game simply because they were "friends"...
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd like to see an example of this.

Still looking for an example of what you were referring to there, G. You made some pretty serious accusations in that post. I'd really like to see you either back them up or retract them. -
Nothing good can come of this. *shrug*

Thanks for the reply CJ, but you realize you just brought the entire Forum population into this discussion to spam the thread, right?

As I said yestersay when "Community" starts to equal mob mentality we have taken a seriously wrong turn...
[/ QUOTE ]
I barked up this same tree a couple of weeks ago Genna, and I was gently reminded by a couple of posters that a server community functions in much the same way as a society. You can't just let people do whatever the hell they want to and expect everyone to gleefully accept it. There is some behavior that's acceptable, and some that isn't.
Now certainly none of us have the capacity to actually punish anyone for anything we view as misconduct, but we do have the right as a community to choose not to associate with those whose actions are antisocial. That's not hypocritical or anything of the sort, it's simply people defending their own right to have fun on a video game they're paying a monthly fee to play. -
I think maybe we should take him at his word that he just didn't like FC because no one would fight him. Give the guy a chance and challenge him when you see him. He seemed to enjoy the fight as much as I did.
One thing you have to remember though Cath is that meleers aren't going to want to fight you. There's literally nothing most of them can do against you when you have hurricane up, so there's not really any point in a match that consists of just standing there dying. I think you'll find Corruptors, Masterminds, and Dominators more than happy to give you a match if you ask, though. -
Just had a very good fight with Cath in FC. He stuck by the rules and won an interesting fight that consisted of the two of us just standing there for 30 seconds staring at each other while held at the beginning of the match. I broke free first (I used Power Boost to lengthen my hold) but didnt' have the damage to take him down before he broke out and got his PA on me.
Thanks for the match, Cath. Looking forward to doing it again sometime. -

Hey, self proclaimed Catholic, have you tried participating in Fight Club?
You don't know a person until you've walked in their shoes.

That sounds like a fantastic idea, really. Cath, next time I see you in SC, I'll ask you for a match and switch to my Dominator. Just a friendly little competition to get you involved, if you're interested.
Of course, no one will fight me though, (well maybe 1 or 2 out of 20 villians)
[/ QUOTE ]
Why doesn't someone invite him to Fight Club and let's be done with this for Heaven's sake.
Maybe he wants to PvP you guys. Instead of mass ganking him, invite him in. If his actions persist as in the past, well, his destiny is in his hands.

Next time a thread gets uppity, I'll post my Crawfish Etouffe recipe. That's a good one, too. Particularly good if you have a stream nearby where you can catch fresh live crawfish. Just be sure to "purge" them.
Purge - The act of cleaning live seafood. Place the critters in a big bucket full of water. Every night before bed, dump out the water and refill it. Do this for three days, and the critters can be eaten without fear of contracting some nasty bacterial infection (as long as you cook it thoroughly). -

Niiiiiiice.
I need to post my Kung Pao chicken recipe.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes you do. I love Kung Pao, so I'd definately give the recipe a shot as long as all the ingredients are relatively easy to find.
I got this recipe for Pad Thai that I really wanted to make, but a couple of the ingredients were exotic imported stuff i couldn't find, so I had to order them off the internet. 2 weeks later they showed up and I made the Pad Thai. It sucked. -
Gumbo
1 1/2 cups Medium Dark Roux, see How To Roux, recipe follows
2 cups diced onions
1 cup diced celery
1 cup diced green bell pepper
1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic
2 quarts shrimp, crab or chicken stock
1 pound andouille sausage, sliced into 1/4-inch thick rounds, browned in a skillet, and drained on paper towels
2 bay leaves
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Dash hot sauce
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
3/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 pounds medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 teaspoon cajun spice
1/2 pound lump crabmeat, picked over for shells and cartilage
1/3 cup green onion tops, chopped
1/2 cup coarsely chopped parsley leaves
2 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme leaves
1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil leaves
1/2 cup file powder, or to taste
Steamed White Rice, for serving
Heat the roux in a medium-sized heavy stockpot over medium-high heat. When hot, add the onions, celery and bell pepper. Stir mixture until onions begin to brown, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and continue to cook for 1 minute. Slowly pour in stock, whisking constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Add the browned sausage, bay leaves, Worcestershire, hot sauce, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
Bring gumbo to a boil, reduce heat to medium and simmer until gumbo is slightly reduced, about 50 minutes. (Gumbo should cook long enough for the roux flavor to mellow and for any floury taste to dissipate.)
Season the shrimp with the cajun spice in a small bowl. Stir in the seasoned shrimp, crabmeat, green onions, parsley, thyme and basil. Cook until shrimp are cooked through, about 5 minutes. Taste and adjust seasonings, if necessary. Sprinkle in file powder and cook, stirring, 2 minutes more, or pass file at the table for guests to thicken as desired. Remove bay leaves before serving.
Serve in warmed soup bowls over steamed white rice.
How to Roux:
3 cups vegetable oil
5 cups all-purpose flour
Place a heavy, iron Dutch oven, (or iron skillet with deep sides) over medium heat and heat the oil until just smoking. Whisk in flour, a little at a time and cook, whisking constantly, until roux becomes smooth and thick. Continue to cook, constantly stirring with a wooden spoon and reaching all over bottom of pan, until roux darkens to desired color. Be careful not to produce specs of black. The roux must remain an even color throughout process. If specs appear you must start over. -

I think my point for not doing FC and getting my bounty is valid.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, those are all very valid points. Furthermore, if your bounty is up there, feel free to kill them and take it. Hell, feel free to swoop in and interrupt a match to take it. People will whine, but they'll get over it.
What you're doing now is something different entirely, though. Don't you think? -
Here's the thing tho, cath... and I'm not really interested in getting involved in this but I think it's important to point out. You seem to spend quite a bit of time in the game, like I do. Hell, my wife works so much that I see my SG mates more than I see her most days.
Point being, people generally pick a server and stick with it for the long haul once they've established friendships and rolled a few toons on that server. So, as much time as you choose to spend playing the game, you're going to be spending that time with this select group of people, so it doesn't take long for people to become acquainted with one another.
That being the case, it's important to maintain good relations with those people incase you ever need their help for anything. Sure, there's absolutely nothing in the rule book that says you can't do what you've been doing. As far as Cryptic Studios is concerned, you've done nothing wrong. However, there are simply a lot of players that really enjoy that whole FC thing for whatever reason. So, in the interest of maintaining good relations with your server-mates, it might be best to just let them have at it.
I think you'll find that if you continuously provoke people like you are, word is going to get around about it. People earn reputations based on their actions, and I see that you've already earned a bad one. So then what happens when you need a respec, or you need to kill an AV, or you need a loan of some infamy or influence? I know you had some supporters, but those supporters are beginning to be embarassed by your actions if that post yesterday was any indication.
At this point, you really haven't done anything all that reprehensible. An apology would go a long way, but it's perhaps not entirely necessary. Just stop what you're doing and in a couple of weeks, I think most people are going to forget about. However, if it keeps up, I'm fairly certainly you'll find yourself very much alone in the game. Ultimately, it's entirely up to you how you choose to treat people, but you have to expect to reap what you sow. -
He one-shotted me in the end of CoV beta event, so I can attest to how hard he hits.

You can't make Captain America at all yet. He NEEDS a shield, and the shield powersets aren't out yet. Stay tuned, they're coming.
As for Statesman, an Inv/SS Tanker is a close approximation (it's what Jack himself plays when he plays Statesman right now, per screenshots), but Statesman's ACTUAL archetype is an "Incarnate", which hasn't been released yet. Stay tuned, it's coming. -
Incursion... regen scrapper, right? I think I've had some run-ins with you on my Stalker.

The real "problem" with ED isn't a problem at all. It's the Issue 5 defense nerfing combined with ED that is a problem.
[/ QUOTE ]
I tink that's part of it, GS, but I think there's a bit more than that. The problem with ED is the little things it screws over. Things like Endurance Drain and Flight Speed that took huge and seemingly unnecessary hits to performance. Taken as a whole and overlooking the blemishes, ED doesn't seem like such a bad thing, but when you take a closer look at it, it just caused a lot more problems than it solved.

guess I have to take that as a win also.
[/ QUOTE ]
That right there is why you can enjoy WB and I can't, then. You can take someone throwing a little temper tantrum as a win. I take it as sucking all the fun out of the game, and a good time to go read a book in the bathtub.
Differences in personality, nothing wrong with it. Just pointing it out. -
[ QUOTE ]
But still cannot help but think as Sirens as minor league PvP.
[/ QUOTE ]
*nod* But that's the point. There are significantly fewer egos being stroked about in SC as compared to Warburg. In my estimation, you go to WB if you want to beat your chest. You go to SC if you just want to have some fun PvPing.
I imagine that probably does make SC the minor league zone, since those who typically think of themselves as major league tend to gravitate to the chest-beating zone.
