Who or what is the smoky not-statesman dude in the first one?
-
Quote:I know, this is exactly what I'm saying. He made a mistake. That's cool, it happens, I just asked for clarification. I got the clarification, and I'm satisfied with the answer. I'm not mad at Posi, or Clockwork O1, or anybody at Paragon or NCSoft. So Positron made a mistake, Positron didn't express what he meant entirely clearly, or the exact content that would be available to Premium subscribers was changed after he made the comment.
Mistakes happen and things change. Some people are acting like Positron has personally jilted them at the altar over this. And yet, people also complain that the devs don't talk to the players enough and that marketing exert too much control over dev interaction. Gosh, I can't imagine why that might be.
What's getting under my skin is everyone trying to convince me that I misinterpreted his remarks because he couldn't possibly have made an inaccurate statement. -
Quote:Positron's words: "will ALWAYS have access to it and its features."Currently, less than 100% of all powersets are available at no extra cost. Demon Summoning, Dual Pistols, Kinetic Melee and Electric Control require a valid Going Rogue code applied to the account. If you haven't purchased Going Rogue and applied the code to your account, you don't get 100% of all powersets. They cost extra.
Access. His word was access. Not "keep."
Quote:I'm sorry that you have a problem understanding what the devs have said, but what you are interpreting is not what Posi posted.
I don't know why you guys feel the need to twist it to try to cover up the mistake and say "oh he didn't mean Incarnates" or "he meant it wouldn't be deleted, not that you'd have access." He specifically quoted and responded to a question about Incarnates. He specifically said you will keep access.
He said something that was not accurate - he made a mistake. I'm fine with that, he's a human being and sometimes we get our facts wrong - or maybe plans changed between then and now. It was corrected and clarified and now we know for sure what's true. But what he said originally was incorrect. That's it. I don't know why anyone has a problem with that. -
Quote:You seem to be confused, too, then. Because what we're saying is that we DON'T have access to those powers.I'm sorry but I don't see what's confusing about what Posi said.
He was asked if a fully slotted Incarnate character would get to keep the rewards he slotted and Posi confirmed that players will get to keep any Incarnate slots and enhancements that have already been earned when Freedom launches.
Go back. READ what he said. You "will ALWAYS have access to it and its features."
We don't have access to Incarnates. The question being asked was about Incarnates, and nothing else.
If you don't see how that is a contradiction of current facts, well... the imperfection is yours. -
First, I got the confirmation I was looking for that you don't keep it even if you bought GR: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...56&postcount=5
Which is fine. I just wanted to know.
Because guys, I understand that GR did not, despite original plans, include the Incarnate content. But Positron's comment is in direct response to a question asking "will I keep my Incarnate powers or lose them when I go premium?"
No, Incarnates didn't launch with GR. They still require GR. They are still related to GR. They just came out after launch. And if his comment had been in response to a question about side switching, or Praetoria, or something else I would not think that it implied anything about Incarnates. But it's a direct reply to a question about Incarnates, and nothing else.
The point is moot, since Clockwork O1 responded to my question, which I appreciate. And I'm not going to lose any sleep over his answer (though I might lose some money, heh). But you should be able to see how some of us thought that we would keep that access, based on Posi's comment and were confused and/or disappointed to find out that we don't. And before anyone cries nerdrage or entitlement, I will repeat: I was confused and disappointed to find out. Not enraged. Not flailing about. Just confused and disappointed.
But I'll get over it and pay my monies and have fun anyway. -
Quote:Actually, I thank you for finding that quote. It was one I was staring to think I'd misremembered. Because it seems that what Positron said there is not actually true. The player asking the question is talking about Incarnate powers (which are a feature of Going Rogue, as I recall), and Posi's comment implies that Incarnate powers will remain accessible as a Premium if you bought Going Rogue. Current evidence from Beta seems to contradict that, however, and it appears you will not have Incarnate access as a premium player under any circumstances. I would really appreciate it if the Devs would clarify that apparent contradiction. So how do you explain this then?

Anything you bought or earned will always be available to your account whether it's VIP or Premium. How is that different from other F2P MMO's? -
Technically, it applies to the NAME of the bonus. So a "Huge Recharge Bonus" is not the same as a "Luck of the Gambler +7.5% Recharge bonus," even though they give the same 7.5% recharge bonus, because they are not technically the same 'power.'
(note I'm going by memory here so if I got the names slightly wrong, I apologize - but you get my point) -
As far as I'm concerned the last Farscape convention was in 2003, in Chicago. That was the fourth and final Scapercon. Though the last one I attended was in 2002 in Cincinnati.
Now get off my lawn. -
Quote:What's more, as was mentioned above, there are Lore pets that fly. Standard code rant and all, but I suspect that if they can make flying Lore pets work, they can make flying MM pets work. This doesn't seem to stop people from Group-Flying their henchmen and still have them do just fine. I had a friend of mine who spent most of his time running Group Fly on his Mercenaries and used slotting and Leadership to compensate for the to-hit debuff, and his mercs did just fine. Furthermore, flying NPCs already exist, in the face of Stunner Chiefs, Nerva Spectral Demons, Tsoo Ancestor Spirits and more, all of whom are melee critters.
Personally, I'd be all for seeing this as an extra Mastermind primary.
Dragons? I dunno about that. But flying MM pets? Hell yeah, gimme some of that. -

If you're willing to spend the time grinding and have multiple characters to grind with, you can get a full set in that same 20-60 days. Lots of grinding, but it can be done.

In the NCSoft Launcher go to File > Settings > Advanced. There is a check box there to allow multiple instances of the game to be open at the same time.

Quote:There is a huge difference between what it's ok for the Developers to name a character and what a player can name a character.Yeah I'm gonna have to go with WRONG on this one. I don't know the details of the agreement CoX made with Marvel, DC etc but I am quite sure you are incorrect. I had made a bunch of new toons a few months ago and they all got genericed; the names included: Apocalypse, Longshot, Wildcat, Sentinel, Tombstone etc. So, if you know something I don't, I'd appreciate an update. I was rather choked I had all of these names taken away when they were available for me to take in the first place.
When the developers want to introduce a new character to the game world, the name and appearance of that character can be run past the NCSoft Lawyers who can give a yes or no.
Customer Care is not going to run every player-created Wolverine or Apocalypse past a lawyer. They are going to err on the side of caution and generic you. It's got nothing to do with whether they could be successfully sued for trademark violation. They aren't going to take the chance. -
Quote:In addition, this gap made it possible to access the Invention tutorial inside the University map which was under Steel Canyon, even though the University had not yet officially opened its doors. A few in-the-know heroes were able to obtain a single Invention Origin Enhancement this way, before anyone else.Did you know that the War Walls went down once?
For a short time there was a gap at the top of the War Wall where it meets the "sky" in Steel Canyon. Players could fly/leap over it and see what was behind the wall.
Turns out that the silhouette of "distant buildings" you see through the Walls are literally just gray boxes. -
Quote:That movie was so bad and so full of WTF that my friend and I, who normally would go to this $2 theater to heckle bad movies, just sat through the whole thing in stunned silence and afterwards just looked at each other and said something to the effect of "what the hell did we just watch?"Wow, six pages in and no mention of Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman and Sir Sean Connery in The Avengers?
There have only EVER been 2 movies I've considered walking out of, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and The Avengers. And I saw Battlefield Earth, Alien 3 &4 and Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes in theaters!

Almost a month went by with no one commenting on how awesome these are? For shame, people. Glad I stumbled on this post when I did. I want a full deck of these...

I used a /sonic for an autofollow buffbot for a while, and it was very nice. Pop the ally shields once every few minutes. Keep the big bubble and the tutu on at all time. Add leadership, slot up hover for fly speed. Works quite well.

Amusingly, one of my favorite history books is Witchcraft in the Middle Ages by Jeffrey Burton Russell. At first glance I thought that's what you were talking about...

I think we need alternate animations because I would want to swap out the default animation on "Hamster Dance" with "Star Wars Kid"

Quote:I think we have a winner.Sir Laurnce Olivier, Burgess Meredith, Maggie Smith and Harry Hamlin (ok, that's a step back) I give you...
Clash of the Titans.

Same here - I used to be all about Marvel, but now I haven't touched a Marvel title since they canceled Moon Knight. Meanwhile, I'm picking up 3-4 DC titles a month plus some DC trades every once in a while.

Quote:Rockville MD, here (that's just northwest of DC for those not familiar). Same kind of thing - I thought there was construction going on upstairs (because there always is) until my boss started going "Is that an earthquake?" and then things started really shaking and the obvious answer was "yes."Vex: Similar experience in Lanham, MD (just east of the DC beltway). We're in the middle of an office move and the painters have been working in the building. I feel shaking on the roof, wondered wtf they were doing... then it got REALLY violent, and I was about to get up and shout at them, when I realized "Hey... ground's moving..."
By the time I realized what happened, it was over, and everyone was outside tweeting about it.
