PVP IO Recipe Drops
PVP IOs only drop from killing another player, however to get the drop the kill must have also been rep valid (IE the player cannot be on your defeat list, and you cannot be on that players defeat list)
PVP IOs should have a chance of dropping from arena, which is why i say rep valid in the previous statement, as long as you would be eligible for rep then you have a chance for a drop (even though the arena does not award rep points)
PVP IOs have a VERY low drop chance, and when you do get a drop, you also cannot receive another drop for at least 10 minutes even if it was rep valid
in essence, you can either pay an enormous price at the auction house or spend nearly a year saving alignment merits or emp merits
I'm trying to figure out where PVP Recipes drop from. I know you can buy them from the Merit markets but wanted to know how they drop. I know there was a bunch of rules regarding their timing and even a point when they didn't drop. Can anyone provide any information?
To further expand the question: - Do PVP recipes drop in Arena? - Do PVP recipes drop in warzones? |
Edit Ok, I could be wrong on the actual timing

Yes they drop in the Arena and the PvP zones. Once you kill another player character, there is a 5 minute cool down period where any other kills during that time will not get a drop.

I recall a global 5 minute timer, and a 10 minute timer on people you've already defeated

Negaduck: I see you found the crumb. I knew you'd never notice the huge flag.
So there's a 5 minute wait timer between drops or kills globally?

with freedom coming just make a ton of free accounts and get the toons in BB lvl range then take your lvl 50 and just kill your alt accounts, then just log a new one in after the other one dies, when you get a drop can take those few min to make sure your alts are out of the hosp if they need be (best done with toons that have a self rez)

So where is this info in the wiki. I've looked for it before and couldn't find it.

Only place I could find it was in the April 8, 2009 patch notes.
"Once a PVP IO recipe has been earned, there is a 10 minute timer before the player that earned the recipe can have a chance at earning another recipe."
PvP IOs need a page explaining them in general, not just the category list page. Trouble is there is so little actual data on them and so much misinformation on them. I thought they were tied to PvP rep myself, which is why I said 5 minutes.

you only get a chance for drop on rep valid kills AND have not gotten a pvp IO within the last 10 minutes
So it's only if you haven't gotten a PVP IO within the last 10 minutes and there wasn't one awarded in the last 5 minutes?
|
the 5 min is for the defeat list rep timer (you can get a drop multiple times if you kill several poeple all at once)
rep valid kills just mean that you are not on the opposing persons defeat list and they are not on your defeat list, basically if you got rep for the fight, you had a chance for pvp IO drop (in the arena since it does not have rep, just go by the defeat list)
Hey there I have a question and was hoping I can get a response before the GM's get it.

The question seems perfectly valid and politely asked.

Realistically if you need a Glad Armor proc, you can get one in 20 days. And if you need anything else, you can get a Glad Armor proc in 20 days and sell it off-market to finance your other purchases.
my lil RWZ Challenge vid
I assume you're talking about multiple IO purchases. The minimum number of days it takes to get 30 a-merits (and some PvP IOs cost 35 merits, I know) is 20, if you're converting 50 regular merits a day and running 5 tip missions. (I've done this 4 times since January.)

And at the same time you'll earn enough Astral Merits to get 8 or 9 LotG: +Recharges, which you could sell to help finance the purchase of PvP recipes off the market.
Come I21, you'll be able to earn 5 Empyrean merits a day as well (2 for Keyes and 1 for the other three trials that will be live then). Since that Shield Wall costs 60 Empyrean merits you could theoretically get it in 12 days. Even if you just do a BAF and Lambda each day, that's 2 Empyrean merits, which means you can get enough to buy the Shield Wall in a month.

and in any case its still WAY too much grinding for a single IO when i can get LOTGs or miracles with only 2 alignment merits which can be done almost once a week on a single toon
