  1. I has a sad.

You and the Angels are associated with some of my fondest memories of CoH. Your hard work has, is and always will be appreciated.

    Me love you long time.

  2. I noticed a problem with the Psi primary powerset for blasters. The recharge debuff appears to be stacking on the toon using the power and not on the target.

I've checked on a psi dominator and those powers are not self-debuffing.

Blasters seem to be the only ones affected that I've found.

I filed a bug ticket, but wanted others to be aware, so they could file a bug report of their own.

(OK, technically there was a NWN MMO in the 90s, but that didn't have Player generated content, so it has no bearing).

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was a MUD (Multi-User Domain) not an MMO. If I recall correctly, it had a capacity for 500 users at once. But, in a way, the only new content was player created. In the form of RP. There was no development beyond porting a standard SSI D&D title to an online environment. Fun for its time.

    Long List:

Snowman head akin to the Pumkin head of Halloween.

Emotes: Snow angel, build a snowman, and caroling

Convert 1 PvP area into a giant snow covered snowball fight, with snow forts, and no powers.

    3 on 3 Ice hockey

Option at end of all TF/SF during holiday event to get equal number of candy canes instead of merits.

    snowman invasion ala zombie invasion

Replace blimp in Atlas with Santa & reindeer

Xmas trees replacing some of the trees in the zones

costume pieces: Fur lined skirts, mittens, elf cap, reindeer antlers

All of those are great ideas!

Loot is automatically a time sink in any MMO. This MMO simply kept (and still keeps) it marginal. There's not a single person who can't get by without IOs in PvE. The game isn't balanced by anything but the most basic loot (SOs).

Also, if you choose not to PvP, I don't really see how it affects you. There has been very little done to PvE due to PvP changes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Enough to cancel my second account over a PvE nerf to a powerset due to PvP IO builds. If a power is changed due to IO builds, guess what.. that's balancing the power around the IO build, not the SO one.

    [ QUOTE ]
Ultimately, the goal for this MMO seems to be to reward people who put in the time with high rewards, while maintaining high levels of playability for casual gamers so that they remain competitive with those who grind.

Merits, in effect, slows down the rate that those high rewards are given out to grinders, simply because they (not all, but many) were grinding something that gave out rewards at a rate higher than acceptable for the Devs. Simultaneously, it allows casual gamers an actual better chance to work toward what they want over time.

In other words, this is a correction to a system in order to close the competitive gap between hard core and casual gamers, while still allowing the hard core gamers to gain more with more effort.

People who still run a Katie a day and then go off to do whatever else are going to gain well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In the last year or so, WoW went from 8 million to 11 million subscribers. (At least if the commercials are to be believed.) This was done despite the release of two major competing PvP oriented games.

Guess what else... rewards were made more easily obtainable, and better to boot.

I'd love to see this game have a scenario whether it's a TF, Trial or zone event that's insanely hard but has a chance of an insanely great reward for sucess.

I just don't agree with the seemingly constant 'what can't I do now in this issue that I could before' philosophy that persists even after Statesman is long gone.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Merits are an attempt to bring parity to the TFs in this game. Their original intention as multi-session group events was rarely realized (aka used). As a direct result people played them straight through, so only the short one are run regularily.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The 'short' ones weren't meant to be short. This is where the disparity came about. The introduction of IO's made the ones that could be shortened more desireable to run. The reward required less time. Katie was merely the first one found to be able to be made shorter. The reason wasn't even the end reward, but for gaining ten SOs for an AV. 10 SOs were the original -tangible- reward.

With Merits as yet another form of currency, it will be a matter of time before the most efficient means of getting them is found. The problem isn't the loot, it's the descision to make gaining the loot into a WoW-like time sink.

    [ QUOTE ]
This game, and TFs, are a means of entertainment based on comic book lore and comic style action. At the risk of sounding like I am telling you how to play: the intention of the game is not to collect intangible luxury items (IOs).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Many things have changed (and not neccessarily for the better) in this game. One of the selling points for me, when I bought it was no PvP. That changed and changed the game, making it less desirable for me to play as a direct result. It's largely lootless design has slowly become a loot heavy one. Powers are now being changed and designed based on IO builds. This hardly makes them luxuries. While I was able to eke my way to 70 in WoW with mostly greens and blues, if all there was to do there was combat it would have grown tiresome. There is much less to do in CoH beyond combat.

One of the other selling points was the jump on/jump off nature of CoH gameplay. This was always a strength of CoH. Trying to compete with WoW on WoW's terms is not going to be healthy for CoH.

While I can agree with the use of merits as rewards, I disagree with diminishing returns. However long it takes is how long it takes and should not be subject to diminishing returns.

And don't get me started on the pretentiousness of some snarky bum-on-shoulders type stating it's virtual so it's all intangible.

Honest, we get it. It's a computer game, it's not real. You are NOT telling us anything new. Telling us this in no way makes you better, wiser or more balanced human being. It just shows your desire to be smugly superior, something that runs rampant on these boards.

If it changes gameplay, it's a tangible commodity, if it doesn't affect gameplay it's intangible, 'virtually' speaking that is.

    [ QUOTE ]
So, what this boils down to is, the reality that the content (TFs) are to provide story and background as well as provide a reward as a congratulations for completing it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, the story and background are window dressing. The gameplay is what keeps folk coming back. The tangible rewards are what keep people re-doing them. Many have time-sink restrictions arbitrarily placed on them via travel times. Many people only do the big-six heroside for the accolade reward, at least in the circles I know. Add an accolade to the Shard TF's and let Villains and Heros team up there, and I bet you'd see more folk doing them.

    [ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately the amount of "virtual work" required to run a KHTF, an ITF, a Doc Q TF, and the others are not the same. Yet, they have been providing the same reward.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think the problem people are having is the greater time sink to get the same level of reward (a random roll). The question is, 'is the baseline to get to that reward going to encourage or discourage more play?' Personally, I think diminishing returns discourages.

    [ QUOTE ]
I wonder which ones will get run more often?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The one that grants the most merits for the least amount of time. duh.. That'll be where the farmers are.. skewing the datamine. The shortcuts are already there, waiting to be exploited.

    [ QUOTE ]
Post-i13, a metric will have been established by which we can finally view TFs as rewarding based on "virtual effort."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which is always going to be skewed based on whatever the reward/effort is most favorable when datamined.

    [ QUOTE ]
    TL;DR Version:
You are wrong, and I agree with That1GuyUKnow.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's really a stupid arguement. If the disattisfied leave, revenue dries up, issues become smaller and farther between. That particular post exemplifies the 'snarky bum-on-shoulders smug holier than thou' attitude that closes more doors than it opens.

If you don't care if IOs go away, why on earth do you care if one TF rewards IOs 'better' than another? Oh yeah.. smug superiority..

  7. [ QUOTE ]
Something has changed, either in the ATI updates or the CoH updates. I have no idea what, but I get a lot more lag than I used to get this time last year. I know that it's not server side lag, since my teamates don't seem to have the issue.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unfortunately, that could also be your ISP. Several factors there could be affecting your lag or lack thereof.

One is more people in your neighborhood on the same cable connection due to more folk staying home more often. Another is a change in the routing of your connection.

Unless your teammates are using the same connection as you do (i.e. in the same household or nextdoor neighbors), it can't be ruled out as the cause.
  8. Patron and Epic Power Pools:
I'm very disapointed with the Electric Mastery change. Conserve power is hardly necessary at that level and does not fill any holes for blasters. Just because people aren't bright enough to realize how useful a ranged hold is for a blaster doesn't justify removal of a very useful tool.

I like the energy protection that the shield gives, but I can't think of a more useless power than conserve energy. What next FFS? Gonna give us all ET too? if I wanted Energy Manipulation, I'd have damn well chosen it. My BLASTER with no holds in her primary likes having a hold in a EPP that thematically jives with her powersets and concept.

Seriously, at what point do you start looking at why someone would choose an immob over a hold in a pool that protects against the most overused damage type, Energy.. Well golly gee, wonder of wonders, PvP. I'll betcha if you made holds as useful as an immob in PvP, the hold would be taken more often.. Thanks for removing the filler for a PvE hole for a PvP one. GG

I'm utterly utterly weary of PvP skewed datamining screwing with powers and powersets I like. I bought this game when it was released because it did not have PvP. It was a major selling point for me. This is just another reason for me to keep hating PvP due to its affecting every aspect of the game (not for the better) and making it less enjoyable in doing so.

Development via popularity contest is like a rudderless sailboat... Taken whichever way the wind blows.

    Bases:
Was this another result of popularity polls? How on earth is this better for small SGs when rare invention salvage is needed for vital base services and storage for that salvage is at a premium?

If you want to revamp base construction, get rid of Prestige altogether and use Inf instead. Allow an SG to bank Inf and only allow it to be used for base construction. (Do not allow it to be withdrawn once it's in the SG's coffers, except to pay for base upgrades and rent.) Get rid of the need to craft items, instead unlock them via SG badges and simply allow them to be purchased. This would make it easier for small and beginning SG's to get a base up and running as Inf could be directly 'donated' to purchase needed or wanted base items.

Add SG badges (and unlock resulting base items) for completing things like story arcs, TF/SFs and defeating a number of mobs of each enemy group, as well as for gaining PvE and PvP personal badges like a Wentworth's 'market-watch' kiosk/Black Market 'hot-line' or vault reserve access. Y'know, goals that might just encourage group play within an SG.

Nothing proves the 'cobbled together' argument for PvP and bases than the use of a second 'currency' for base construction and completely ignoring the rest of the game.

As to the other features of this issue, I'd have rathered you had spent time on developing a mail system to send alts inf, recipes, salvage and enhancers. The game is no longer lootless, not having such a system was fine when it was lootless, now it's necessary to be on par with other loot games out there. Of the people I've had try the game, none of them stopped playing because PvP was imbalanced. All of them mentioned how lame (in various ways) it was that they couldn't easily send alts useful items.

I'm not terribly excited about the issue, and disappointed in many ways. At least it'll be easier for me to get the dayjobs completed.

[Edit: Having read that EPP's will instead have an added power choice and none removed is much more palatable and a better descision. However, my reasoning behind my complaint remains intact. To me, it feels that we're slowly being pidgeonholed into either farming or PvP as the be-all and end-all for endgame CoX.]
  9. <QR>

It seems to be a spotty problem. I've had it happen several times, but not consistently.

It happened last night during a policeband mission. My L3 Gravity/Kinetics vs 2 L4 Arachnos wolf spiders. I had held one mob and damaged the other. The unheld mob shot at me then high-tailed it at 70-80% health. He did damage to me and wasn't dotted iirc.

Unfortunately I didn't have demo on. I'll set up the bind with her and run some missions on record to see if I can duplicate the behavior.

They data-mined their [censored] off to award and give credit toward all the badges that came out with I2.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They did what now? The only badges that auto-awarded when I2 hit were mission badges, level badges, and some of the TF badges, and the TF badges only awarded if you had the souvenir for them(and that took them like 2 months to datamine). Those were the only things being tracked by the game at the time. Every other badge in the game started at 0, because prior to badges being introduced, they hadn't been tracking any of that information.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmm that sounds familiar, and definately the way I remember it. The TF badge datamine was another reason NOT to reroll. I (at that time) didnt want to have to go thru the pickup team TF heck I'd already gone through and lose those badges. And while I realize now it would have been easier, it was at that time a valid reason.

The fact that the Devs have finally done something now to address Isolator is a tacit admission by them that there was -something- wrong with it. Why did it take well over a year to get the 'solution' we got - not a sophisticated, fair to all, reasonable redesign but a near pathetic afterthought band aid hack that a 3rd grader probably could have come up with in 5 minutes?

In summary Pro-Isolators only have themselves to blame for pissing Positron off enough to get RV Isolator instead of something more reasonable. Sadly I'm worldly enough to realize the RV Isolator opportunity is going to be 'as good as it gets'. After the stupidity of the original way Isolator worked I suppose it was a pipe dream to think that the fix for it was going to be any less idiotic. IMO

    [/ QUOTE ]

Corrected that for you. Please dont assume to hold your opinion as the one held by all Pro-Isolators. You know the old saw about assuming...

Perhaps the devs started paying attention when the isolator threads became a discussion instead of the usual - "Iwannitgimme', 'no you're a doodyhead' debacle.

I understand.. I think we all understand *you* dont like this compromise. Get it or dont get it. Whatever floats your boat. But I think if your arguements are going to continue on this downward spiral of name calling, it's time to agree to disagree.

  13. Thanks Bunny Man, that was a very elegant explanation of the problem that puts it on an understandable level for me.

If you took Instant Healing and changed it so that it made each hit act like illusory damage -- i.e., for each hit you take, a second or two after the hit you 'instantly healed' part of the damage, then what you'd have would be a defense that would scale the same way that Resistance and Defense did, and could be balanced against them -- 40% Resistance, 40% Defense, and 40% Instant Healing would all, over time, protect a character from 40% of the incoming damage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Can't be done without new tech. Significant new tech. This was one of the ideas I put forward in I3, before I really knew what limitations we have in the system.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This was the idea I liked the best when regen nerfs were coming down the pike. I hope it's still being considered as the tech becomes available.

Even before Integration had a heal factor, I commonly would run missions solo with just Int, reconstruction and dull pain. I think where many regens got the 'stand and fight' mentality is from having to deal as much damage as quickly as possible to forestall faceplanting. Until instant healing, we were melee blasters that healed and recovered end faster.

Unlike the other sets, Regen didnt (and still doesnt) have the mitigation the other sets do beyond what the primary provides. What we do have is less downtime between those fights.

Considering that the majority of the many powers that cause -regen cause -speed as well, it would be nice if instant healing gave us protection from -speed if not from -regen. It seems a fair trade to me for having those -regen/-speed powers always hit.
  15. Congrats to Positron!

He's contributed a lot both in his work and in building the feel of the community. With two sets of eyes watching I personally think that fewer problems will make it to the live servers.

Definately a win/win for the community and the game.

i've had him for longer than 40 minutes last monday night and last tuesday afternoon, until i decided to rezone myself. i don't think there is an auto-switch.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or he does it to keep *his* collected bounty. See that kinda cuts both ways. Not saying I approve of that reason, just that there might be another reason besides 'greifing'.

Another solution is to remove SO's from the reward list. Make the purchasable rewards things like large inspirations. Elsewhere in the game, SO's are a reward for completing a TF, killing an AV or monster or completing a trial. Things that require a significant chunk of time and/or risk.

Or make the bounty the person of the opposing faction with the highest amount of kills currently on the map. Someone with a high amount of kills would (or at least should) be the biggest threat and worthy of a higher reward.

The more kills you get makes *you* the target everyone is 'gunning' for. Making your life much more interesting the longer you PvP in Siren's. And a heckuva lot more plausable in my book.

The current system allows a sizeable reward without regard for the actual risk. Why should someone collect the same sizable reward for killing my emp defender that isnt going to have racked up many (if any) kills, as opposed to my scrapper that can kill back, as it were?

In conclusion, the last I knew auto-log was after 20 minutes, not 15. Was this changed? Or just an arbitary number being tossed about?

    OMG!!!!

    DOOOOOOOOM

    {rant}
Seriously, I get a laugh out of everyone saying I can't play this, its gimped, I can't do that, its gimped. Learn to do what humans have done all throughout history.... ADAPT or DIE!!! Complaining hasn't nor will change a thing. The Devs make tweaks to the game, yes, and they even try to give us a heads up on them, but eriously, if ya don't like it just leave, and don't let the door hit ya on the way out.

Its a shame that all of the doom and rip on the dev threads seem to cause them not to communicate as well as we like, for fear of starting a huge flame war.

Learn to treat the Devss as people and maybe they will talk to us again. I swear, if someone talked to you the way people talk to and about the Devs, you would either ignore them or start a fight with them.

GROW UP, GET A LIFE, LEARN TO ADJUST!!! That or go back and get yer baby bottle.

    {/rant}

(Yes I did the same thing for I5 complained and moaned, and then found out it was not bad at all, jsut some adjustment to my game play style took care of it. I6 (ED) didn't bother me at all, and I have no complaints about it.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

First, I note that you have several AT's listed but have only one 50 listed. the rest are well below 20. I admit, I'm making an assumption here, but if thats all you have to deal with, step away from the rant.

Its very easy to say 'adjust or get thee gone' when you only have one real adjustment to make.

    I've been here since day 2 after release. Currently I have 2 50s (scrapper and blaster) , a 40 (emp defender), a 39 (inv tank), a 37 (fire/fire blaster), a 35 (Earth/FF 'troller), a 33 (dark/dark scrapper), another L20 blaster and L20 MM (necro/poisons). Not to mention a slew of 10-18 toons.

Relearning how to play each and every issue and (yet again) between issues is not an enjoyable thing. I would not have this many toons if on some level I did not enjoy playing. Issue 5 was the only issue that *one* of my toons, my 50 blaster, was buffed. Unfortunately ED took that away.

Further and further nerfs are essentially driving me away from team play. Because I prefer to make sure I've a solid grasp of what my toons are capable of so that I dont subject a team to a 'gimp' player.

My tank only in the last few days has started teaming again after 8 levels since issue 6 of solo play. There were many times she ran 'in the red' as i relearned over 8 levels of what i could handle. Thats one example.

The frustration for many long-time players comes from this 'relearning process' with increasingly diminishing returns with each issue.

You call for people to treat the Dev's like people. I call for the Devs to treat us as paying customers. Customers that foot the bill for them to do what they do.

Several things in this patch are not working like they're supposed to. On each toon i logged into today, one of my chat tabs was moved and renamed into a 'help' tab. Something we were told would not happen.

The chat windows originally allowed 10 tabs. Now you can only have 9. This is nowhere in the patch notes.

So once again, we have a patch that

    A. weakens several powersets that will remain weakened even after the ever magical "issue 7 fix"

    B. Breaks a currently working system (chat) for no apparent reason.

    1. There are 13 possible defaults for tabbed chats (Broadcast, Request, Team, SG, Friends, Coalition, Arena, The 5 global chats and the new Help channel.) There are now only 9 tabs allowed.

    2. Emotes will cause the new 'chat ban' to trigger. A feature that had no real need, nor adds any quality of life. Far better would be WoW-like clickable names in chat windows that would allow you to either send a tell to the person or ignore them with a simple right-click on the name.

Now you may say that 'Well the devs promised to fix this come the next issue.' To that I say they were supposed to fix the glitch that prevents several of my characters maps from remaining 'uncovered'. This still isnt fixed months and months later. Croatoa is still dark despite having spent hours there on a couple of my toons. The PvP zones always start as black.

So forgive me, but any promise for a 'fix' to something thats broken by yet another glitchy patch seems a lot of empty air to me. Right now I see a lot of unkept promises by the devs. Until they start fulfilling those promises, until they actually ask to see what people out there would like and implement them, those promises arent worth the paper they're printed on...

oh wait, we *are* getting 3 new sets of elf ears.. yay..

Making the same few missions harder does not, has not, nor will it ever equal 'new content'. Harder does not equal smarter. See cuz they'll either increase xp given out or decrease debt.

Nevermind the bad code that spawns a map full of yellow and orange minion/lt combos (and only at intersections.. lotsa empty empty hallways) in coh. In fact, I rarely see any mish hero-side that isnt that way from 1-25 or so. (And yes, I'm set to heroic.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

The spawns of +1 are normal and "working as intended". They can be rough, but it's to throw in a bit of a challenge. Not everything is white.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, and not everything should be +1 either. I'm speaking of the majority of a map having +1 mobs. Not an occaisional 'throw in'. Nor should the spawns in a map overlap time and time again. After Level 25 or so, the first seems to go away and the second is something that is not working as intended. If it is it's borked.

PvP is not the root of all evil. If something is abusable in Pvp *and* PvE, why shouldn't it be fixed in both?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Umm.. the abuse is an epic power that cannot be used in any of the current PvP zones, saves the abuser about one slot of enhancing by using an enhancer only available to someone Level 45-50. The 'abuse' is not a game breaking issue and should and could be corrected.. the right way.

Even with all the xp and debt changes, I still run out of missions sometime during L9 and either need to street sweep or go to the Hollows. Neither of which are very appealing to me. Yet the focus remains on PvP issues.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Hollows "equals" PvP problems? I think you have PvP paranoia.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, I'm saying as a zone, the hollows suck. That despite stopping debt from L1-10 and increasing mish xp, I run out of mishs from regular contacts at L9.

I am paranoid about any 'PvE' changes.. every time the devs say we're nerfing something because of pve, it has had it's root in pvp. I dislike PvP because it's pretty much ruined the PvE game i love. The only good I've found is being able to run PvP zone mishs in the 38-40 range where you still run out of mishs.

This patch breaks more than it fixes.

Several systems that worked fine are now broken by this patch. "We'll fix it later" is not good enough.

Things have been released with promises of we'll fix it later that never get done. My maps on my 50's still dont work right in croatoa or any of the new PvP zones. You still cant sort with some of the columns in Global lists or in SG lists. Some were broken by newer patches/issues. All have that 'we'll fix it later' promise stamped on them.

Either fix it before it rolls out or dont release it. If it cant be fixed now because of another patch coming then set this one aside until it can be fixed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not even sure what you are tying to say here. Because they haven't added PvE content for the 45+ game it is all PvPs fault? And not the fact that they've been filling in content at lower levels?

Since when? issue 5 was Croatoa. Issue 6 was CoV. Which added minimal CoH content. This new Issue actually will have *some* 50 content only as a byblow effect of adding 40-50 villain content.

Here's an idea.. scrap this patch, continue with issue 7 and once issue 7 is released, go back to reworking the items in this patch.

Instead of breaking more of the working systems, how about fixing some of the already broken ones?

Realistically, it looks like they are stating that "debuffing" stuff is now supposed to be equal to the upcoming Defense (and scale correctly.)

Debuffing is probably getting nerfed because Defense is getting such a big boost in i7.

Probably too much of a good thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Realistically, this is a nerf. A global nerf to any debuffers.

"They" havent stated anything that says it isnt a nerf.

Defence for debuffers is the debuff.

People seem to forget that this nerf affects all levels, not just those with SO's. The 'boost' such as it is, does not help low level debuffers.

For debuffers, the game just got longer. Oh and for any Debuffers that ever solo. Because the new debuff scaling is still worse for +0/+1.

If you're going to reduce the effectiveness of debuffing powersets then the damage from those sets needs a corresponding increase.

Just putting in my plea as so many others in this thread have already done...

Please Dev's, just give us the ACCURATE FORMULA'S that you use in game for powers.

This would help all of us to make decisions, and would allow the player base to inform you when something is not working AS PUBLISHED.

It is utterly pointless to attempt to "plan" a AT in game without hard numbers. I can add a enhancement to my powers which may give it a 33/20/whatever amount of "boost" but without knowing what the base actually is, it is an uninformed decision at best. While the Hero Planners help in this regard, there is still a dark cloud of mystery around making decisions in game about our AT's and this needs to end.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Everytime I hear people discuss "planning their AT and needing the numbers" I cringe.

Here's a concept. Build a toon. Play it. See if it sucks. Learn how to get around said suckage.

Wash-rinse-repeat until you have one you really like. My favorite toons - were never built using a numbers template - I just played them and enjoyed them. I never thought about the numbers and 90% of the people in the game don't either.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I used to be able to do that. With the implementation of ED, and having to have relearned how to play my 8 main toons (something i seem to have to do with at least one or two with each nerfue) I cannot afford to any longer. I simply dont have the time. I dont want to make *any* mistakes if it comes to respecing powers or slotting. There were several times i made those mistakes and a toon would become unplayable until the next nerfue and the accompanying 'freespec'

    [ QUOTE ]
They were hard - and I had to learn a lot through trial and error and eventually they're all awesome toons. Needing the numbers to build a good toon is like - - needing to know the specs on a cars engine to enjoy a drive on a sunday.

Sure it might help - but it's hardly necessary - and in general gets in the way of enjoying the scenery if you have to stop and monkey with the mechanics every 10 miles to make sure it's in top performance. If for some weird reason - they change the road on you - or the car suddenly isn't able to out run that sporty new job ... you're spending waaay too much time mechanics - and not enough on enjoying the drive.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, what gets in the way of that Sunday drive is taking the car in for service and after getting it back, finding your buckets seats have been replaced with a bench seat. The reason? "Your car was never meant to have bucket seats." Still driveable? yeah, but certainly not as much fun.

Or even more applicable.. "Your car has been equiped with new tires that only allow you to inflate them halfway. Because you were never meant to get 30 mpg, or go faster than 50 mph"

    [ QUOTE ]
No matter how much they nerf something - it will not change anything. You will still have to play

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, actually i dont have to. The question is 'Will I want to?"

    [ QUOTE ]
Now... half the posts in these forums scream that new content needs to be added... something has to change.

Okay - it just changed. Is your toon unplayable? Or is it just harder than ever? If it's one - then guess what, game rules changed and it's time to start the process over.

If it's just harder than ever... over come it. Haven't seen anyone on these forums yet that isn't capable of rising to that occasion. We got great players in this game... if the game gets harder - we just gotta get smarter... and we will.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Making the same few missions harder does not, has not, nor will it ever equal 'new content'. Harder does not equal smarter. See cuz they'll either increase xp given out or decrease debt.

Nevermind the bad code that spawns a map full of yellow and orange minion/lt combos (and only at intersections.. lotsa empty empty hallways) in coh. In fact, I rarely see any mish hero-side that isnt that way from 1-25 or so. (And yes, I'm set to heroic.)

What I see is that full attention is only being given to the PvP side of the game. And each 'tweak' to better pvp makes pve suck worse than dirty brown water.

Even with all the xp and debt changes, I still run out of missions sometime during L9 and either need to street sweep or go to the Hollows. Neither of which are very appealing to me. Yet the focus remains on PvP issues.

My 50's have been nerfed into the ground for PvP's sake, yet cannot get their own PvP missions. Oh, and the maps are broken for them.. still. Nor have they had any new content in .. well I can barely remember the L40+ content in coh.. long enough that I cant even remember the issue.

It would be nice if in these between issue patches they'd fix the quality of life issues first.

Most companies just say "this is how it is!" and don't even have conversations about it. Jack could have taken the easy way out and published his thoughts on the web page with *no* ability for people to "officially" talk about it where it might be heard by himself.

    It's a very gutsy thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No matter how you paint it, a nerf is a nerf. Jack has come out with wrong numbers and incorrect facts, on this and other occasions, and changes were pushed through that ultimately were detrimental.

Promises made by him to his us, his customers, have gone by the wayside. There are only so many 'mea culpa's' one can credit. Or stomach.

Should Jack take flak from us for these things? Yes. Absolutely. It goes with failing to fulfill a promise.

Pardon me if I'm sceptical of any promises, past or future, that Jack makes. The track record isnt very good.

Right now, the ony reason I keep my account open is because of the people in game. As more and more of those folks tire of becoming less and less heroic with each new 'nerfue' and leave, the reasons for my remaining grow less and less.

I've tried other MMO's. In some, I loved the gameplay, hated the community. Here I love the community and I used to love the gameplay.

I realize what I've said here is purely subjective, and is my own opinion. But somehow, I doubt I'm the only one that feels this way.
  22. I agree, Isolator stands as a unique case. It alone remains a badge that pre-existing characters (that is characters made before it was implemented) cannot get. Anyone with an active account during Halloween 04 had the ability, the potential if you will, to get those badges.

If you were not paying for an acount when those special events came and went, too bad. For those that had accounts but missed it for some reason. Well its unfortunate that you had no one that you could trust with your acct to get them. RL has to take precedence over a game.

On a side note, I strongly disagree with getting special event gladiators. While additional gladiators effect one type of event in a small part of the game, it still makes a difference in play. Special events and their badges should never affect play of any sort. (Yes I have the gladiators btw).

Special event badges should be baubles. Anything that effects gameplay in any way, should remain in game.

    Cuppa,

Could we have a consolidated Isolator Thread? One arguement/idea per person, can only add a reply when a red name replys to the thread, etc..

I'd even be willing to start it

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think they are going to do those anymore, as people wouldn't follow the rules.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Sorry I wasnt clear.

Make this a Dev response topic.

It doesnt matter if someone cant follow the rules. If they cant, their post gets removed. Sounds simple to me.
