Quote:+1 for the British Kitty.Guess what? Shards aren't the be all and end all of the game for me. But you can net an awful lot of them doing speed runs - as well as the usual end rewards/components. The reason I like to join Phil for his speed runs are that they are fun, its a chance to play with people who appreciate the game and have taken the time to optimise their characters. They have a wealth of information and advice on how to improve builds and become a more effective hero/villain.
I dont understand the negativity towards speed runs. If you are happy grinding through the game slowly, good for you. I prefer to grind through the game QUICKLY!!
Its a game, play it how you want to for fun.
Personally I have no need for shards. I've gotten enough from speeding that my toons aren't needing extra shards at all.
Looking at people who do 'shard runs', it seems that they somehow believe that speeders aren't defeating anything at all. As every speeder knows, you can't not kill things and get a TF finished quickly.
Doing an ITF under 15 minutes is an incredible time, hats off to the OP, and the final mission requires you to defeat a whole load of cims. Demonstrates that there isn't any deficit to the DPS that a speed team can pump out.
I know a person who has 10 of his toons outfitted with the rare incarnate slot. Guess what? He speeds.
Everyone I know who speeds doesn't EVER say, "Hey guys, can we defeat everything along the way because I need shards," they say "Hey guys, let's roll an ITF, Apex and Tin Mage" because they are guaranteed shards as well as the final good stuff that comes at the end of every TF. Usually they will do ITF/LGTF/Apex/Tin in the time that an average 'shard run' will be done.
I'm not sure why anyone claims that 'shard runs' are better, unless they can show me a toon with their rare slotted and hundreds of surplus shards or 10+ toons with the rare (paragon) slotted I'd have to say 'shard runs' are inferior to 'speed runs' for getting shard drops. -

I was going to make a long winded and potentially insightful post regarding this subject until I read TonyV's post.
I felt he was flaming the OP...until I read the responses. Now I'm more inclined to agree with TonyV about his replies.
Seems this game is like "Pleasantville" and we're all characters within that movie.
To everyone here who has complained about the nature of changes within the game, unless you can show growth to the owners and operators of this game, things have to change because they made a hard earned investment to acquire the game, and for a long time it has been slowly going in reverse.
If you can show the investors a way of bringing in similar numbers to what was there in 2005-2006 without changing the game then they'd be all ears. Till then, hang on for a wild ride.

Nice times. I've been on runs that have been on either side of those times on Justice. That ITF time is very very good, however. I tend to get the lag monster on ITF runs.

Quote:Cool, I tried to find it on their homepage but those links were broken.Somewhat.
Although it doesn't allow you to set any of the new Ultra Mode settings since it was written before they were introduced. The last update I think was sometime in 2007.
Of course, if I were to download it today I'd get it directly from the maker not a secondary link. -

You had me at hello.
Quote:Not sure the exact progression, but I'm pretty sure Pum picked that up from me. Ume, I think, used to tell me my voice was a little too deep and kind of creepy, or something along those lines. So I used to quote Silence of the Lambs in as flat and emotionless of a voice as possible to her, and later Merm, fairly often, just to be a jerk. Thought Pum started doing it after that and taking it a little further, but maybe it was a parallel development, or he really is a serial killer (prolly the most likely). -
You'd have to have 3 teams, 2 solo and 4 on the third team in order to double your chances.

Does it really matter that much now? The reward merit values are fairly static when benchmarked against other TFs/SFs so if they go up or down as a whole it doesn't make a big difference.
Also the fact that Reward Merits are taking a back seat to non-tradeable rewards means that precious dev time would be used to do what? Alter Merit Rewards by 1 or 2 merits?
With i20, Shards will drop on non-50 activities and will that mean you will ask for the devs to re-visit this whole issue again in two months? -

Quote:This game is notorious for that. Creating new content and mechanisms and then letting it rot while chasing a new shiny. The old content really needs a revamp. The new content is fantastic. Tip missions might have too much reward for too little effort.
Would prefer the devs did more things like revamping zones and TFs like Posi and RCS/RWZ. Also utilize more of the in-game items/minigames to make it feel more integrated (not silos of merits or this or threads of that...). Eg. how about a fedex mission into Siren's or Bloody Bay for a TF, it could even be inside the hospital of those zones. -
You are saying two killers vs one killer on 4 targets?
Probably not double since it would be hard to control the alternation of defeats between killer 1 and killer 2, both AFK. Theoretically it is possible to double the drop rate that way. -
I would never claim to be poison.
My hero is Westin Phipps, however.

The server forums got hit hard when the policies about non-server related postings came down. I know lots of people who would rather not post at all rather than going to the general forums now.
