Takes a while to get a server up. think of it like trying to wake a teenager up in the morning. Looks like they just got Virtue up so probably Justice will be soonish.
-
These new maintenance times just to accommodate the Aussies sure are a birch.

Are you running Little Snitch or any firewalls?
-
Grrr... I will be out shoveling the white stuff.
Best of luck to everyone! -
The perma pets while zoning across instances is still a bit buggy. Try dismissing all of your pets and recasting them in a new mission to see if the running behaviour still happens.

Quote:Yes, although you will have to ensure that the new name that you desire is free on both servers that way.So with the rename tokens if the name is taken, does this mean we can sortof get free renames?
Like if I've got Captain Amazingpants on Champion and I want to rename him Captain Superpants, if I make some trash character called Captain Amazingpants on Protector or whatever, when I try to move Amazingpants over it'll give me a rename, right?
So unless Captain Superpants is taken on Champion, I can then move the now renamed character back and tada, free renamed character on original server?
Anyone know if this works?
Another way is to transfer your character over, then create a new toon on the old server with the name of the old toon you just bounced out.
Then when you bring the old toon back you will get your rename token and you only have to worry about the new name you want being available on your target server.
This presumes that creating the new toon to block out the old name leaves you with 1 free slot to come back to. -
Quote:I was so disappointed in PvP because there wasn't any semblance of balance. Not that expected that it would be perfect, having 2 rulesets was offputting enough, but the real killer was that you could make a toon with a powerset that was competitive in PvE but in no way competitive in PvP.Just one correction to all that. The I4 PvP population was HUGE! It was the only time that I saw arenas filled with people. It was new and lots of people wanted to try it.
A lot of folks were disappointed in how their characters performed because they would almost never die in PvE but get destroyed in seconds and so they started to not come back to arenas. Little by little, the arenas got less and less populated.
Having dual builds has since mitigated things somewhat, but there were huge gaping holes in the ruleset that made PvP unappealing for a large portion of the CoX gamers.
Most PvPers I know will have a wide toolbox of toons that will work well in PvP, but also have a set of really good PvE PL toons to help them get those PvP toons.
In a sense this is antithetical to quite a few of the PvE playerbase who are accustomed to making a few great toons (RPers and accumulators) but could not (and now will not) alter them for PvP abilities. Altaholics also suffer because they have a lack of time dedication to accumulate enough loot to make a competitive toon or take powers because it would break character.
Also having no rewards for so long in PvP has really stifled the reasoning for people to go into PvP zones. The decay and suppression updates really made things feel even more alien, even for PvErs.
If the devs are really serious about getting people to PvP in this game (and they should be), they really need to get the existing PvPers (and those that left) on board and figure out a way to lure PvErs into PvP.
I can only see this as being a huge gamble and one that they'd only have one real chance to get right, since basically they'd have to realign PvE to lead in/lure/train towards PvP style play by changing PvE rules and AI in addition to changing PvP rules. -
50 PvP IOs? 25 good and 25 not so good?
Not so good IOs minimum 25M on WW?
Good IOs minimum 150M on WW?
and 1 B influence...
I'd reckon that's over 5B right there, minimum. You're prolly at 7-9B easily, possibly more than 10B. -
Wow that is some nice lewt.

Quote:Gold star for yah.So what's the third highest pop server again? I wanna say Justice.
Usually it's Justice, although it can move up and down a bit depending on the time of day. I've seen it as low as 6th and as high as 2nd in order of load status but I really don't check that often.
Since Justice is the unofficial Aussie server, Justice tends to peak in population a bit later than the other servers and seem groggier in the late afternoons (if you are in EST/MST/PST time zones) than other servers. -

Prolly a good time to go over how you can capture screenshots and make sure the UI is on, and how to bind it to a key.

Quote:Speed Boost is optional if you solo mostly, although in any team it would be questioned on why you never picked up SB.For those of you versed in this debate, please feed me with all your wonderful input on this as I really need to know BEFORE I decide to pick-up Speed Boost. And yes, I will eventually pick it up because I know how much it can help in team play but for a big solo'er like me, I have been holding off on it so again, this would also feed the argument about picking SB for people who solo more than team play.
For teaming situations, SB grants a +50% recharge rate boost, plus endurance gain and run speed.
If you think about how much a single Luck of the Gambler +7.5% Global recharge rate goes for on the auction houses (100M+), you can see how much value Speed Boost brings to the table for your teammates.
Being a team kinetic is all about the speed boost. Chuck in fulcrum shift, transfusion and transference and your team is steam rolling everything in sight. -
Champion and Protector look to be down from my connection. Probably something in the patching broke them badly.
I would doubt that any server shenanigans are going on when they have just launched the Winter Event.
With modern tech nowadays, a bunch of the lower population servers could be virtualized anyhow on the same physical hardware, so the cost of maintaining a low population 'server' is a lot less now.
Just a bit of commiseration from a Justicite. I remember i3-i5 when Justice used to be the one which faceplanted lots. -
Quote:Heh, it's only an observation that new raid leaders need to develop a rapport with everyone downstream. Missing a bunch of issues doesn't make experienced players forget who you are.I don't know if this is a compliment or not so, um, thanks? Maybe?
I haven't lead a raid in a while, and haven't lead a whole raid since I9, but have been a team leader quite frequently and used to lead raids pre I9 quite a bit. I'm sure you remember, as I remember you SBing my Tanker.
I have been thinking that I miss leading raids and was looking for the opportunity to do so again. This new push to get a raid schedule came up, and I took it. I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. -
Hmm...I don't know what size RP population we have here, I just know a coupla catgurls and all they do is meow a lot.
Other than that, Justice has pretty much a bit of everything. -
Peechurs!

Quote:Heh, don't worry, once the WE calms down a bit regular programming will resume.Okay, so now I updated my avatar. What next?
Well, so far, you shoved me into a four-hour Faathim TF, and then I did a "quick" ITF that took over an hour to finish... so I'm not impressed on the TF side of things :P -
Most new raiders will not realize this until they show up, but Hami raids are very popular on Justice.
To that end, make sure that you have your intended toon parked in the Hive well before raid time, and switch over to that toon before the raid proper.
Most of the time the raid will start on the designated hour if not sooner, and the hive will generally fill to capacity within +/- 10 minutes. Note that hiding seems to be a popular sport among hami raiders, so using the find feature (/sea) for the hive will yield about 35-36 names before the zone is full.
If you are doing something different before the raid, count on using the search feature to see how many people are in the hive starting about 20-25 minutes before the raid begins and you will get a sense of how quickly the Hive fills up.
Different raid leaders also have varying popularity and experience, but the longer they raid the better they become and the sooner the Hive fills as they develop their raid partnerships.
Usually coming 10-15 minutes before a raid is adequate, but given the holidays that may not be true.
Hami raids are generally retreat raids between waves unless otherwise noted. This allows for the puggish nature of Hami raids on Justice without requiring prefarming of EoEs, shivans or nukes. -
Quote:Welcome to CoX!It is nice to have a native mac mmo. Thx guys for taking the time to get the game running (even if it's under cider
).
I don't bother to dual boot because I refuse to waste the $100 dollars on a copy of windows.
You have at least 1 new subscriber because of the native mac client. -
If someone wants it bad enough they can mule over a toon to freedom with the lewt and then mule the nuc back using 2 server transfer tokens for free until the end of next month.

Oooh I forgot to add that Justice is the semi unofficial Aussie server, so that also means that Pacific type people are here more often, and it means that shift(y) type people like Plas can also find more peeps during the wee hours.
The Aussies also have a sekrti channel somewhere with the gnomes and elves and dingos. I think it's called vegemite or sumpin like dat.
