Go to www.abebooks.com. There are many copies available, most for about $1.
  2. Further evidence that there is someone to complain about anything.
  3. I have a level 50 TA/A Defender and he's very very fun to play. I'd have to say that he is probably not as effective as my rad/ defender, but he's more fun.

    • Since you have an answer for everything in game, it requires lots of decisions. With the rad/, it's so simple: AM your team, put your goop on the boss, maybe throw out a heal aura, maybe shoot something and you're done. With TA, you have to actually think about what to do in a given circumstance.

    • Lighting Oil Slick and watching the room burn is one of the most spectacularly cool things in the game. Few experiences top this.

    • Because of the variety of powers available, I found it was reasonably easy to cap his ranged defense. Even after the BotZ nerf, I was still able to do it easier than on other toons.

    • Rain of Arrows comes back SO quickly.

This specific topic was brought up at the SF Meet and Greet (as a response to my question no less), and it was the original intent to have Phantom Army be duplicates of the toon. Posi intimated that the tech could be relatively easily added to the power, but he reminded the audience about what happens when you change something already in the game... even if you are improving it: People complain incessantly. From what I could gather, even though everyone in the room thought it would be a wonderful change -and a very doable one- it isn't happening anytime soon.

They also said that they are always looking for ways to put the doppelganger tech into the game. They all think it's cool and want to use it more.

    Excellent!

Simply put, just find what you enjoy and do it. You don't have to race to 50, if you don't want to.

Personally, I think the game STARTS at level 35. You get access to Rikti arcs and the ITF and you have enough of your powers to get a real feel of how that toon is going to play. You can get at all of the TFC task forces.

You don't ever need to get into IOs and sets and bonuses and all that, unless you want to. It is a robust system that allows you to make your toon a little better and a little more unique, but does have a learning curve.

    Welcome.

I find Ignite extremely useful in certain situations, especially AV fights where minions are pouring in on the team surrounding the AV, namely fighting Romulus on the stairs in the last mish of the ITF, and the like.

Put Ignite on the AV and they take the decent damage, but the minions that run in to assist just run right into a buzzsaw of Ignite+splash damage.
  7. With GR or not, every single toon is getting the ability to choose three powers they never had before for no extra cost.

And yet, there are many who find reasons to complain. I tell you, sometimes I do not understand people.
  8. I would think that with all of us soon to be able to pick three (or four) new powers without extra slots to put in them, many of us will be going that way.

As it stands, I only have two movement powers in one toon. He was always a flyer per his conception, but I greatly prefer the Hurdle/Combat Jumping/Superspeed combo for gameplay. On him, I respeced into both Flight and Superspeed they day I got City Traveler.
  9. Thanks for the update. Like many others, I am disappointed that I won't get to use my break to play the new content, but I will survive.

I know a little knowledge is sometimes a very dangerous thing with this community, but I appreciate the heads-up. It's nice to know I can stop hoping for it to drop tomorrow morning.

Of course, since I'm pretty well ready for this to hit, I guess I'm going to have to be spending my break doing something more productive, like fixing my back fence, and pulling out the stumps in my yard. Curses. Now I have no excuse for not fixing the dishwasher.
  10. I have a 50 DM/Inv Brute, my first brute. Admittedly, I care not a whit about optimal attack chains and DPS. I look for big numbers on quick attacks and play it how I like it. But, even so, my attack chain starts with Midnight Grasp >Siphon Life>Smite and goes from there. I see my chain as MG and SL and a bunch of stuff to fill in until they are back up.

I find that Siphon Life is most useful slotted as an attack and constantly used, giving me health as I go. It's almost like having a set-it-and-forget-it huge +Regen power.

So, even without crunching DPS numbers, Siphon Life just feels like its doing its job when its being used in a regular chain.
  11. I also just dropped Consume from my Fire/Stone. First off, I rarely used it, and when I did, I knew it wasn't going to be back for a while because the recharge is so damn long.

I did pretty much what you did. Physical Perfection helps a lot and if you get Conserve Power, you really don't need anything else. You can skip Consume and not miss it, if you cover recovery through other means.

    Que the insults now.
Did you just say, "are the bomb"?

There is no need to insult you at this point.

From what I understand, it wasn't "security issues" but server issues. Apparently, they were having trouble linking the website to the ingame content without crashing the servers. Or something like that.

    But it's dead, nonetheless.

Now this thread that has it all can boast an "orthogonal" sighting.

I think I'm going to make that the word-of-the-day for my English classes tomorrow.

That's an easy one. If you watch Pum play, you would be sure that he must have the most tricked-out purply toons ever, but then you look at his list of bonuses and sometimes there is nothing there and you wonder how he does it.

The better the player, the less of the high-end stuff do you need.

That said, I need purples, PvPIOs and all the help I can get.

My buddy just picking up the game, was stalling around level 40, and then got a Respec Recipe to drop. He sold it and was SO excited to be able to slot his own build. There are many drops that are VERY attractive to new players.
  17. This just occurred to me...

    What is better?

    1) A moderately priced -but efficiently built- toon with IO sets, some frankenslotting, all the power-yielding accolades, some vet rewards, played by a savvy, intelligent player.

    2) A toon completely slotted with the most expensive purples and PvPIOs.

    You are patently wrong here.

Although it would seriously dent my "savings" in stock and liquid influence, I could afford to slot one toon with the most expensive IOs in the market today. Two toons, maybe, but that would be pushing it. I'm not boasting, by any means, just setting some perspective, so you know where I'm coming from. I'm not filthy rich, just rich enough to get what I want if I work for it.

I farm usually once a week, meaning I do one pass on a big AE farm one time per week, roll the tickets, cash in, and move on. I am not what you would call a "farmer."

I have never bought influence or PLing from China.

Most of my income comes from running fast lvl-50 TFs and rolling merits. For example, last night I got a Ragnarok to drop on an ITF. I have no plans to use it in the near future, so up on the market it went. It will be worth a pretty penny when it sells. Plus, the merit rolls with often be worth about as much. I don't even play the market, I just buy what I need and sell what I don't.

There are many ways to earn enough influence to get purples and PvPIOs, and farming for a year and buying RMT wares are not even the best ways.

So, the people that DO play all day, farming and playing the market like maniacs, they shouldn't have anything for them? Is that a little "underlying logic?"

The high-end stuff is for the people who crave that, and if you look at the time/influence investment versus the difference in power, and you will see that purples/PvPIOs offer a slight advantage over your standard IO set for significantly more investment in both time and money. Sure, I have some socked-out builds that cost billions, but I don't do that on all (or even many) of my toons. It isn't worth the time or influence to me. For those other toons, I can make some pretty effective builds with no purples and no PvPIOs.

I would buy your argument and sympathize with your anger a lot more if there weren't many perfectly good set IOs available for less than 10 million each and much much less in many situations.

Impossible. If there was ever a need for mass respecs, the change to inherent fitness is it.

I see what you mean, but I don't think of it as a better engine; I think of it as getting nicer seats, a rack for your surfboards, and some new shiny rims, little things you have wanted all along but couldn't quite afford with so many more important things out there.

All of my toons are going to get to do things they couldn't before... for nothing. That's all good in my book.

Why would you free up those slots in i19, but you wouldn't before? Your toons have the same need for regen and recovery as they did before.
  24. Just think of it as being about to add 3 or 4 new powers with no slots; that's a great bonus, no? Plus, you could shave a few slots off other powers and move them there, if you so desire.

I'm going to have so much fun with this.
