Quote:This has a lot to do with what server you are on. We run ten or so Ship Raids a week on Justice, so many that I get bored with them. At that rate, you can get the costume in a couple of days of paying attention. We also run many LGTFs a day which generate a fair number of Vanguard Merits, especially with the triggered event.Cat is right, but getting a ship raid on a low pop server is near impossible, or during a holiday event. I am a grind player, so I get them running Borea missions, but I know all players don't want to do that.
I also think the prices on some the items should be reduced. The prices were fine when the raid was new, and it was getting run a lot, but now not so much. -
Quote:Yes, he's always been fire/stone, but he has two builds and uses pyre in his scranker/farming/offense mode, so I can see why you'd think he was /fire. And, yes, I do remember teaming with you as well. ArwenDarkblade is one of those unforgettable names.I thought he was Fire/Fire?
In any case, that's how I knew who you were at HeroCon. I've teamed with Nakoa quite a few times.
Elvish/color/weapon is a good pattern. TalynRedscythe. GaelaroBlueflame. JaronBlackknife.
It works. -
Quote:For sure!A lot of gamers today complain about the cost of systems and games, and while I understand their viewpoint they really don't have any idea the amount of money we spent back in the day on this stuff.
Whether it was at the arcade or via home computer, we were throwing down some serious coin (even not counting inflation) to get our game on.
Computer systems were MORE expensive then and the games were unsatisfying to the point that arcades were still necessary for the hardcore gamer. And in those arcades, you could easily drop $50 on a single day when you spent time on a new game. And the arcades had game IN COLOR and not black and white or bright green and dark green.
Whenever I visit my pals in SoCal, we go to a place called Howie's Game Shack. I can play CoH all day long, on a great rig, for $9. Impossible when we were kids. -

Quote:Not true, although I assumed this was the case before a couple of days ago.Moonfire Task Force is another one. You will get both badges doing that Task Force.
I ran a Moonfire with 7 others and got neither badge. I got pretty close on both, and got Silver Bullet killing just a couple standing around after the TF.
Moonfire surely got me a big chunk of work toward those badges, but it didn't supply enough vampires or wolves to get both without doing anything else. -
Leave the food where you normally leave it. Eventually, his hunger will overcome his fear and he'll get through it. If you bring the food to him, you allow him to be scared longer. If there was real danger, that would be the right thing to do, but since it's just a projector pen, I think he'll be okay.
Give him extra love and and affection and he will come around. Cats are simple that way. -
Quote:No problem. I just hope I can answer these questions well enough as I am new at this.Out of curiosity, what area of the bay? How large? When built? Was it a REO, Short, or market sale?
Hope you don't mind all the nosey questions...it's the real estate appraiser in me!(if you don't want to share, it's cool
).
Area: Union City, pretty close to Hayward.
Size: 3 bedroom, 2 bath. It had a big yard at one point, it's corner lot in a culdesac so the plot kind of angles out. Most of the yard is now taken by a HUGE gameroom. It's well done and done with permit. It's the best part of the house, in my opinion.
Age: 1960? It's old, but I'm buying it from the original owners. It's in great shape.
Type: It was not a REO or short sale. It went on the market the same day I went to look at it. I put in an offer the next day. The lady is in a hurry to sell it as her husband who shared it with her had recently died and she had chosen to live in their other home. He did not die in the home, as I was assured.
Before she put it on the market, she got it appraised for 355k and that's what it was listed at, and what I got it for. My agent (I think he was the operator here) got it appraised again last week after I signed all the paperwork and it came in at 361k. I have no idea what that means or if its good or bad.
It's a quiet neighborhood in biking distance from the school at which I teach. It's old, but nice.
Does that give you a good picture of the situation? -
Quote:Do you like having it in your house? Do you use it enough to make it worth your time/area/money?I have a Class of '81 machine.
The company that I got it from later sold me a replacement board that included a bunch of other games. I assumed it was a legal Midway board, but I'm not entirely sure.
I'm buying a house now with a huge gameroom that would be perfect for such a machine, but that is no small price for me, so I would have to seriously consider anything like this. -
I've long been one of those contented folks who enjoyed Burn as more of a mitigation power than an attack, however, when I do get to fight mobs or AVs that don't run, WOW is it fun to use. That's when I feel most super.

I farm with a Fire/Stone/Pyre tank and he rocks. Granted, he is fairly tricked out, but he is as fast as any tank I've seen. One reason I go with stone is that Tremor is a nice AoE and Seismic Smash is a great single target attack which is especially handy against bosses which are now all too common in farms now. Another reason is that (and someone better with numbers than me can back me up or refute this), the smashing/lethal effect of stone works better on the Demon farm than the firey attacks of Fire Melee, which is another good, common option. I usually use the BM map, and he just mows through that.
I don't have a lot of experience with shield or electric, so I'd like to see them in action. -
Quote:Hear, hear.Is it not also the responsibility of the poster to give the benefit of the doubt if uncertain or to ask for clarifiation before posting a bunch of snarky assumptions? Your response implied Pum was a troll or didn't have any friends, or was on a lot of ignore lists. You posted earlier that you don't play on Justice, then proceeded to post a bunch of incorrect assumptions about an active player the people who do play on the server recognize.
You say people posting need to be aware that not everyone will understand. It's also a poster's responsibility to recognize that he or she is unfamiliar with a specific group or community and to know when to ask questions instead of making assumptions and guessing.
Teach that lousy good-for-nothing to come walking into Justice unarmed. -

Quote:I have no A/C, but then I live in Northern California fairly close to the bay and so it never gets really that hot here. The roof is new. And the flooring, well, that will be a project for next year, I suppose.Enjoy it! And enjoy it the first time the A/C goes out, and the first time you have to redo the roof, and when you redo the flooring... Ah, many happy memories.
I got a huge deal, a house that would have sold for $750k five years ago, I got for less than half of that. I figure if I can fix it up for a few years, I might be able to get a big return on my investment. And if I decide to stay, that's fine too. It has a gigantic game room addition (built to code) with a wood-beam vaulted ceiling, big enough for a home theatre and a pool table. So, staying might be nice too. -
Quote:I think that is possibly because your wrecking ball is clearly a minion of Arachnos. My Big Fat Black Furball of Spider Death (he does eat spiders whenever he can) follows the HeroCon projector pen Statesman star like a loyal hero of good. One of the cats in the Frog/Floorman SG base is a crazy orange wrecking ball. He likes laser pointers. A LOT. Will follow one to the ends of the earth. Today I found the polar opposite of the dot in the CoH projector pen I got at Wentworth's this year. I projected the image on the floor in living room this morning, and crazy has not willingly come back downstairs since.
The moral? Cats with a preference fear the Statesman star. -
This is what I want. http://www.bmigaming.com/games-video...rcadegames.htm
A stand-up machine for my game room, so I can relive my wasted coin-up youth. Anyone got a spare three grand laying around? -
I'm on both JFA and JU (and Chrome before that) and both seem to serve the same population. I do think JU is a little more family-friendly, a little softer in its touch. Of course, this could be all my imagination. Just join both and you are in the loop for most raids and events. Both are useful.
There are also some smaller private channels which are, in my opinion, much more efficacious, informative and entertaining. -
This is neither here nor there, but I would speculate that there are only a small percentage of kids that play CoH. Whenever, I start feeling like an old fogie, I realize that everyone I'm teaming with feels the same. And the average age at the HeroCon had to be around 38 or so.

I just recently tossed out some old games I had on floppy disks that I loved: The Bard's Tale, Lords of Conquest, and classic Lode Runner. I kept these for almost 30 years because I loved them so much, and finally tossed them out when I realized that I wasn't ever going to need them again in that format.

Ya, I gamed with Pope for a bit in the LAN room and also spent some time in there during the session on Mission Architect with Dr. Aeon. We did a quick ITF with some folks.
For the last two years, I spent the time during the Live Mission Event in there. It's not really my speed.
Those were some niiiice machines. -

I'd seriously consider attending a Justice M&G if it was scheduled during Christmas break. The day after Thanksgiving is definitely out because I just bought a house and I'll be moving in then.

I remember going to the local Shakey's Pizza that had a tabletop version of PacMan. You know those little tables where two people could sit opposite one another and play, and the screen would switch sides for each player?
I still want one of those for my house.
We had a local arcade and I could easily drop $20 in a long Summer afternoon. Video game playing has gotten considerably cheaper over the years.
