If you need starter influence, just ask. If someone hollers for some money, I check their vet badges and if they are a real neophyte, I'll give them whatever I can, usually upwards of 5 million or so.
I know I'm not the only one that does this. Many many veterans want to keep you around and if giving away an infinitesimal sum accomplishes that, it ain't no thang.
Just ask. -
Quote:We have some operative words here. And some syntactic elements worth investigation.I love when people use big words on forums to sound smart/try to prove a point. Using dictionary.com = srsbsnz. Post some big words to make people feel dumb, kgo.
First, are you sure they are trying "to sound smart"? Perhaps, it could be that they are actually smart, and that is how smart people converse with one another. I know not to whom you refer, but is it a safe assumption that their big words are merely obfuscating their intellectual dwarfism? Maybe, just maybe, it's who they are.
Second, is it possible that the people who "feel dumb" after reading "big words" are, perhaps, stupid after all? It would explain why they don't like the big words, wouldn't it? -
Agreed.
Perhaps the main advantage to /fire is to do damage with your secondary. Get your endurance consumption under control with IOs, drop one of Consume or Dark Consumption and add Blazing Aura. Slot it up and run it. Once you hit Soul Drain and Fiery Embrace and jump into a mob, you won't even need to target minions; just go after the boss or lt. and the minions will be dead by the time you get the tougher guys down.
Burn is also very handy on a scrapper, in my opinion. It does AWESOME damage, and can be a lifesaver when you are in over your head. The fear effect can give you enough time to get Healing Flames back up. It's great on teams with someone who can hold them in place for you, and while soloing, it can still do good enough damage because they run in and out all the time. -
AR is a great set. There is a lot of lethal, but there is also a lot of fire, and once you get some levels in there, the AoE is impressive. At 50, you can LRM, Full Auto, Flamethrower, Ignite, Grenade and take everything out. It's all blastery goodness.

It's probably more like an extemporaneous raid.

Quote:You are correct, but even after I had grabbed it and unequivocally had the agro, some jackamole was still hollering. Regardless, that was one tough mito.I think there was several instances where those of us on yellow damage initially thought a mito was loose, but it appeared that someone may have been trying to interfere and redirect fire close to the mito itself and onto yellow damage. Not sure if that was your mito or not, it was pretty chaotic last night.

Quote:Pretty much.Nothing *terribly* dramatastic Arwen, just some new tanks who didn't know the ropes coupled with some griefers who made things difficult for the Yellow teams. It was a bit rough and went a bit longer than usual, but still successful.
Maybe I was noticing more than I usually do, but I noted far more annoying people at this last raid. Sure, there were some uninitiated tanks, but they weren't all bad. More problematic for me are the people yelling "LOOSE MITO" while I'm standing there tanking every hit. Lots of name-calling and stupidity... and not the fun kind. -
I think the chances are very good that we will see new maps in Going Rogue. I think the chances are very poor that we will see them ported to CoH and CoV. Maybe eventually, but probably not at release.

Quote:I always thought that the best way to beat this would be to make the teams regardless of who is in the hive, so even include leaders who are left outside. Then, just before the raid is to start, have the raid leader sent tells to the individual team leaders to bail and go to Hive 2. Then run it there while the leechers sit in Hive 1 waiting for it to happen.I gave up leading and then participating in them because you'd have people an hour before the scheduled start whining in broadcast that they were lft and no one was inviting.
It is frustrating when the raid fails -or nearly fails- because too many people are in the zone and not participating. -
Boy, I really wish I knew how to post a build from Mid's...
I have a lot of experience with Fire/Stone. My main, Nakoa, has been active since shortly after launch and he's experienced just about everything the game has to offer.
While your guide is very good, it misses the fatal flaw of the set: By being a jack-of-all-trades sort of tank, you are inherently unable to deal with the more extreme adventures in the game. You need Acrobatics to have -KB, a waste of a power slot, unless you buy very expensive IOs. PvPIOs help considerably with this as both Gladiator's Armor and Fury of the Gladiator -two sets that you can use multiple times- offer -KB. If you can substitute IOs for Acrobatics, DO IT! Acrobatics is a waste on a tank. It sticks you with Jumping as your movement which limits your options and make you take a power of limited usefulness. Also, your build has Fiery Embrace, 3-slotted no-less, and your only fire powers are Burn (which has limited utility) and Blazing Aura, which does minor damage anyway, a waste of a power and two slots.
My advice: a fun Fire/Stone has two builds, a defensive build and an offensive build. You need both, just for PvE.
Offensive Fire/Stone: Get Pyre Mastery and go AoE. Burn>Tremor>Fireball+Blazing Aura = instant death to minions. Add in Seismic Smash and you kill bosses and lts with ease. In slotting you need +recharge more than anything. You need Healing Flames to come up quickly and you need to blow through your attack chain quickly. You must have an LotG +recharge in Combat Jumping. Also, getting Char, Fireblast and Fire Ball makes Fiery Embrace well worth taking again.
Defensive Fire/Stone: Tough and Weave are non-negotiable. Fire tanks cannot really tank the big stuff without them. And if you really want to be tough, you will need bonuses from IO sets. There is no room for an epic power pool, beyond perhaps grabbing Conserve Power, if you need it. +Recharge is still handy, but you can now fit a LotG in two powers (Combat Jumping and Weave) so that helps considerably.
Work needs me... perhaps I'll post more soon. -
This whole free server transfer thing may just be a way for devs to see how things shuffle out. I'm betting some of the lower pop servers just get abandoned as people move to places where there is more traffic.
There should probably only be six servers... or one big one. -
Perhaps this is my personal bias showing, but I think Justice is a desirable destination, and our numbers will only swell.
We have a bit of everything and we have a relative lack of insanity.
I don't think we overtake Freedom or Virtue, but I'd bet we solidify third place. -
I think quick-draw taunting is vastly more important, especially because EoEs do the job of buffs anyway. And the buffs are always iffy anyway. If you ignore the buffs, that's basically an extra 18 EoEs raid-wide, not a big number.
-
I'm also 100% in favor of the no-retreat raid, which we should just call the Justice Raid... or name it after whoever invented the strat. (Wasn't it Quat?... The Quat Raid?... I like that.) These raids tend to implode more often, which makes them more fun in my opinion. They are also more dependent on good tanking. All seven tanks need to have a certain level of experience for it to go smoothly. It will still work with newbie tanks, but it has a greater chance of going bad.
I think tanks should only be punching the hamibag after the last spawn. In a Justice Raid, even when it goes perfectly smooth, the buffs are spotty after the initial dive. Sometimes we just can't be bunched up close enough to get all the loving. As a tank, I'm always counting on EoEs, and any buffs I get are bonus. I agree with what Flea posted. Tanks should be concerned with yellows and EoE distribution. The only caveat is if yellow or green damage really sucks, the tanks may be needed there. -
Justice is a great server in that it does everything, probably no one thing better than another server that specializes more (except maybe raiding... Justice rules at raiding.) We have vibrant PvP, active farms, planned events, talkative channels, and it's relatively easy to find teams most times.
And we have catgurls. -
Honestly, I don't do too much PvP and my experiences and interest are somewhat limited. I have recently found PvP much more palatable than I had in the past. I cannot stand teenage trashtalk nonsense. All that gloating and name-calling got very annoying.
My first trip through Warburg, when it was new, ended when I got jumped by two heroes who were just picking off curious lookyloos, like me. I was on my main, Nakoa, and I managed to take out the scrapper, but the defender finished me off. But instead of moving on, he decided to stand over me and shout insults with emotes (I had yet to type a single word). The insults got louder when I hit Rise of the Phoenix and knocked him down and finished him with one Seismic Smash. He called me a cheater and all sorts of nastiness. I left Warburg and told myself I'd never go back to there, or any PvP zone, for that matter.
Recently, I have spent some time in Recluse's Victory and have had great fun. I was mainly there to get badges, but once I got into the PvPing, I found it pretty fun. The people there were cool and helpful, and I killed about twice as much as I died. One of the things I really want to do is get a team together to finish of the AVs there, get some badges and beat up some signature villians. I think I'll take the initiative and set something up.
I have followed these threads with a mix of amusement and confusion. I don't really understand all of the subtleties of the complaints, but I can tell some people are very passionate about PvP. Good for them. I hope it all works out for them. -
I'd surely be up for this kind of thing. We have enough interest in these raids and if we got more organized, I think we could accomplish more.
-
My main, Nakoa, will switch only for the badges, as he is also my only badger. Then, he'll switch back. I have a few toons that may switch based on concept, but it depends on how fun the content is.
-
That was one of the more disturbing images I have ever seen. I just showed it to a class of 10th graders who went "ew!" and stared impossibly.

Quote:That would be so cool. Kinda like the Jet Pack Supplier in the Shard, but for more weapons. Even if they had shorter clocks, like 10 hours of game time, it would be cool.I still suggest a 'Weapons shop' idea. With swords, pistols, random stuff and the temp powers.
It never gets very far, but for something to buy for a bit of mission help or for use in RP, I can't see a downside. Besides, aren't people always saying the game needs more inf sinks? -
Quote:I see how this makes sense, but I can also see how this since this loot was "unearned," it might feel like the right time to splurge on that big purchase item. I tend to think of any unexpected windfall as bonus and should be used for pleasure first. Would you rather get that brand new $500 video card for Christmas or 100 $5 lottery tickets? An interesting aside with regards to merits. Everyone has claimed all their merit rewards except one person, and without exception, every winner has chosen to pick a specific recipe(s) as opposed to rolling.
Nothing wrong with choosing specific recipes, but I was surprised that no one wanted to take the chance of not getting any decent drops, even though the general sentiment is that rolling strategically can be more profitable when looked at from an influence/infamy standpoint.
Just an observation.
That said, had I entered and won, I probably would have rolled because I know you could easily get two LotG 7.5s and an Oblit in rolls for the price you'd pay in merits for one LotG. -
Ugh. I tried many times to like it, but just couldn't do it. My first girlfriend was an Aussie and tried to convert me. I never liked the 'mite, but I did get into her buddy's band Mental as Anything, who as I take it, are pretty big there.

Justice rocks. We do everything. Regular Hami raids. Several active global channels. Easy to get teams. Tons of active players. There is a little bit of everything.
-
I could go for this.
But then, I could also go for the vet power X-ray vision where you can see through toon's costumes.
