Quote:(TL/DR)Yes. Not very disappointed but I`m definitely not impressed.
I`ll try to explain piece by piece why.
So pretty much, the word of the day in terms of graphics update is "Reflection". WHICH in order to enjoy at a reasonable level in any modern game requires a massive combo of GPU,CPU and RAM. Basically you need a high-end computer. Otherwise it will cause graphic lag. Yes its eye candy, everybody loves it. But ask yourself how many players play the game now with the graphic settings turned to minimum. And how many players play it on a laptop ? A lot. In my opinion it is a very nice feature but definitely not a needed one and even more not one that will add to gameplay.
Dynamic Shadows. THIS is what actually made me open this thread. Seeing the crowd going all WHOAAAAA.
First of all, dynamic shadows were first implemented in a game as a gameplay feature in 2004 (Thief: Deadly Shadows). In this game, I couldn`t care less about them. But they`re as old as CoX itself.
For me , all this graphic update is not something that I wanted or expected and definitely not a reason to buy/pre-order the game. I do admit it is a major graphic improvement for the game itself and I am also very curious how much a laptop will cost at the moment of release with the recommended specs (which are not released yes as far as I know)
I love it and I don`t. Looks amazing but feels stupid. To be honest to me it feels (like most other scrapper sets) like an action oriented set. I mean you have 2 pistols and you`re in a battle. It needs to feel like you`re constantly firing at something and not waiting for a power to recharge and stuff. Great animations, but unless you can queue power after power and make it fire continuously, to me would look a bit weird.
So, as we already knew theres a bunch of story arcs with a lot of dialoque about morality and you take AT`s from one side to another. Cool.
Also we have a revamp of the first 20 levels in terms of gameplay. And 50`s will become even more powerful. Stuff worth waiting for.
I expected more. Well maybe its the preliminary news and they weren`t allowed to say that many things. But I expected gameplay, innovations towards teaming, task forces, more goals for solo players, new mission types and other things to keep you playing through the content and make you forget what power leveling means.
I`m still expecting this before being fully disappointed and moving towards another game. Yes the first 20 levels being revamp is good (supposably, because we don`t know what that means exactly), but that leaves us with 50 more levels of the same TF's, mission maps and goals.
I know most of you don`t agree with my but this is just my humble opinion about Going Rogue and what I expected to hear about it.
It seems like your expectations for Going Rogue were made up in your own mind TBH. From the beginning Going Rogue has been publicized as the ability to switch sides/blur the morality line. I haven't been keeping up with it but UltraMode got my attention. Your last paragraph insinuates you want a new CoH, they never promised a full game overhaul of everything from TFs to mission goals to new content 1-50 -
Quote:[Random] I find it interesting you picked 13 over, say 15 lol. 13 was dayjobs and PXP, a massive amount of numeric work and locations to have dayjob activators setup, while some like 15 were simply a TF.I would guess one more issue or two issues with the 2nd being lightweight like Issue 5 and 13 before the sync issue with GR.

me too, with domination (for doms) and hasten (every toon ever) being used and expected by just about everyone to fire when ready "wasting" auto on it so you can't have an actual offensive power on auto gets quite annoying.
Quote:Aw crud, that's a bug? It ought to count as a quality of life improvement.. I know i'd consider it if I was a dev

thanks for all the responses
. I decided to go with the Corr, with Mako's epic for hibernate as the panic button in exchange for force of nature I was planning for the defender. I had wanted him to be a hero, but I just got the lv15 vet titles, and one for villains is "innocent" for some reason, so i'm doing the robin hood theme for the archer with that title, and a little backstory bio (I usually don't write bio's but this one came to me). He's like lv4 but I love the recharge and the sets together
.
Yeah Kheld I usually try to get a mid's plan to 50 with sets in before starting the toon. I used to just setup the slots, but I found you just can't get the slots right without knowing what sets you're going to use for what powers lol.
I know at least one of you play on guardian, if you see The Noble Sharpshooter redside it's him!

I have been looking around in Mids and asking around in game, but I want a character with Archery and Trick Arrow powersets, unless I missed something it has to be a Defender or Corruptor then. I would really like it to be a hero, but not if it will be a pain to keep alive and low on damage.
So the questions are:
1. How much less damage would be noticed being done by the Defender over the Corruptor?
2. Approximately what enemyrank could Rain of Arrows 1shot, decently slotted as a hero over a villain? (and possibly how much lower than RoA's Blaster version?)
and 3. does this Defender powercombo sound like it has a decent survival rate? I planned on giving it Temp Invul and Force of Nature from Power Mastery anyway, but would I be being killed often without FoN active?
thanks for any answers you can answer, Mid's seemed particularly unreliable with this since Corruptors inherent alters damage with enemy health.
(I know RoA's high damage is usually assisted with Aim&or/BU and TA doesn't have a BU power with it, so i'm taking Power Build Up from Power Mastery as well) -

I have a lv47(?) Fire/Kin and a lv43 Arachnos Soldier I wanted to 50 by my birthday (tomorrow), yeah, that's not happening, so Double XP goal it is
-
Awesome Shadow. I haven't logged in yet but I really would like to start that toon lol.

How much better is this one? -
ok I pulled a lot of my 6th slots off of things to give the attacks a 5th, and removed combustion for consume and got it 5slotted itself. Hamster I know it scrolls, but with how many 6slots I saw I wasn't sure lol.
-
Hamster did you skip Fitness in yours? How did that work out? I see you used slots taken from aim,bu,hasten, snipe, and shield to get the attacks 6 slotted, but does the 6th really do much? some of them are just a proc and im not in love with the 6slot bonus for most of the attacks if I recall when I was going over them.
I was going for superheavy AoE on this toon, and I tried to get stamina to help with end for that. I think I also picked some sets over others because for example, Obliteration is terrible for managing end of a power.
I know bu and aim would have been better earlier, but I hate being without a travelpower, and this toon was terrible before stamina with the AoEs, and he is lv28 now anyway so it doesn't really matter except for taskforces/flackbacks/exemp'ing, but I don't do any of those much on my server.
How come you would take Char over Fire Shield Snakebit? Do you put the fighting toggles on blasters? Without it he has no Defense or Resistance worth mentioning all the way up to level50. I only have 3 50s and 2 lv45~'s, but the Ancillary toggle always seems to finish off my squishies, or make them a little bit more survivable.
I'll do something withbonfire though, idk what the hell I was thinking putting damage on it, it was late lol. Would a single set IO of End/Rech be enough for it? I don't use bonfire too often, but I do like having it as the escape power. (And damage doesn't mean much without containment, it's end I can deal with for how much I use it) -
I know the in-game store is down, but both of my accounts paid-for slot's are relocked again. And not redeemable ones that weren't used, the ones that had already been opened up and labeled "Create A Character". Any idea why the store has been down for so long? I came up with a new character concept last night and I can't create it because my home server's first12 slots are full and my unlocked 5 are relocked again
.

I just set this up last night, but, as always "it was late", and I haven't done a mid's build in a couple months. Anyone care to point out any blatant idiotic choices/slotting, etc
?

I noticed the Blue CoH ("Game")ones that 'snapped' off the hanger into the size of a creditcard are now one solid piece, when did they change to those? My stores were without any form of them for awhile, I was happy
Edit: I just looked at an old card, I usually got mine at target, the one-piece one I just got was from bestbuy and it specifically has the bestbuy logo in the corner. -
yay more people are back
, and I know this one! lol welcome back Alien

Quote:Also you don't have to worry about buying something from the ingame store by accident, it asks you to confirm like 3 times, and if you don't have a livepayment method it can't do anything at all (some people pay month to month without a 'subscription')I saw an item inital character screen page, the ability to buy a character rename token. I did not see a cost and was afraid to click it cause it might just buy it right then and there.
How much does this cost and is it for one character only?
Is this the only way to rename a character?
