    Store down?

Yup, I wanted to make a new toon and my slots were locked. I'm pretty sure I had one empty, but I hit buy more and it notified me it couldn't connect to the store.
  2. Wow. Showfps works in the commandline? I didn't know that, I've been bringing it up with a customquickchat everytime I play for years. How about netgraph?

Open leagues are considered mainstream. Adding annoying requirements that people only put up with because the other way lacks an extra reward can be considered "punishment" to me and tons of other players.

Luckily the 5min thing will be gone soon, and ixp and Keyes will be fixed. I'm thinking of playing some of my non-50s til then. *glances at clock* woot my guess is Keyes will be fixed tomorrow .

No guarantee, but that would be my guess.
It works with the new launcher. I've been using -maxinactivefps 5 for years, I added it to the new launcher when I (stupidly) "upgraded", and it's one thing the launcher can do right .

It should be, I've only got 5slots left to unlock on my server, and that's after deleting some last month .

I've ventured to other servers, some are too quiet, some the people are just.....ugh. Each server is a separate instance of the same game for tech reasons, but each server really does have the feel of an entirely different game. I like mine and I'll probably think about leaving coh before starting on another server.
  6. Best PatchNotes I've seen in ages!!!

I am SO glad the iXP is an actual bug and not WAI...some of us were worried

The lack of documentation of new features has happened far too often, and in the case of the league buttons, was commented on many times in the Issue 20 pre-beta. That we are into Issue 20.5 without the documentation is a joke. Then again the same thing, to a lesser degree, has happened with the search window (there should be a legend explaining what the different colors mean in game, preferably in the search window itself).
Yup. I take the time to learn new systems when there is some kind of instruction, and I know buried in someone's guide somewhere is a list of what the searchcolors mean, but with so many, to me..and most people it's just "oooo pretty colors" lol.

lol again, also very very true.

Forget petitioning it as a game bug, the GMs will tell you that IT'S YOUR PROBLEM.

I never had this issue until the 2011-04-26 revision of the game. That's when I started getting these "memory" problems.

No, I don't buy the fact that this is an issue with my PC. Hell no.
Something is causing CoH to have a massive memory leak. There's a thread about this buried a couple pages back in the tech forum, where people were reporting they got this error on 6 and possibly even 8gb RAM PCs, in non-hardcore(<6hr) playsessions.

And yes it did seem to start with i20.

They lose an Astral Merit per run and a buff. We shouldn't be punished for trying to be organized and put the league together beforehand instead of using the randominvitesystem they added for trials.

/reloadgfx only lowers a certain amount of RAM, it doesn't reset CoH as if you closed and relaunched it . Sometimes I'll need more ram and do the reloadgfx and I only get 2% ram back.

    Keyes iXP

    Quote:
    Incarnate System
    • Incarnate XP and Incarnate Thread drops are now split evenly across the entire League which earns credit for the reward.
I don't know whether before the patch it was each person earned XP individually, or each team earned separate XP..but either way; assuming you were on a team of 8 on a 24member BAF, it appears the XP droprate wasn't increased when it was "split evenly"...XP/8 does not = XP/24 lol. If this is "working as intended" it essentially means the bigger the league on your trial the worse XP you'll get....andddd hundreds of players will be outraged it isn't considered a bug and ever corrected .

Also; the title of the thread mentions Keyes, but it affects all trials. It's just more noticable on Keyes because your XP is split in half for both sides of the tree.

And yeah, this really needs to be fixed. I went into a Keyes today with 35% Lore, keep in mind Keyes is the newest and most difficult trial released so far...we completed successfully and he made it to a whopping 37% Lore. What happened to that nasty word the devs strive for; "balance". I'm sure someone could quote a dev as saying the bigger the risk the greater the reward...2% lore on a trial a character participates in from beginning to successful completion is not a "great reward" lol.
  11. it's not the boots, it's your PC, see my response in your other thread on the same issue lol. That file just happens to be the one that pushed your PC's memory past it's limit.

    Game Crashing...

Unfortunately it means the game used up all of your computer's RAM memory and was forced to lockup when it tried to utilize more, and there was nothing left . Happens to me with my 2gb ram all the time now, and the bigger and bigger trials make it more often.

Yeah. They took the broken TeamUpTeleporter system and made it more broken.

    Stratus I don't understand what is possible to enjoy about it? lol. We've had to deny several people in public trials i've been a part of because we were 3minutes into the queue and someone asked to join, and exiting queue to invite them would reset that nonsense. "Oh you could just invite them after starting with the new feature" next problem lol;

Besides taking your pre-created league and playing 52pickup with its sorting as you load in, the "invite to league in progress" doesn't work as far as I've heard. Me and 6 other people on my server tried it on different trials and all we got after sending the invite was "unknown command tut_invite"(even though we didnt type that, we used /li or whatever else). HOW did that get through closed&open beta, and test server, and never be reported as not working?

Wow. I've been busy out of game and haven't done a trial since 20.5 launched. I'm scared now. lol.
  15. That error is getting more and more common the bigger they make the new incarnate trials/zones for them. It means CoH ate up all your RAM trying to exit Keyes and re-draw PocketD(or RWZ or wherever) and when CoH requested more when you're at 100% used already it crashes. The file it names is usually irrelevant to the crash, it's just the one it happened to try to load when it pushed your PC too far.
(So essentially the bigger they make the trials the more "lowend PC subscribers" they alienate out of participating in those events)

The only thing you can really do is close all other applications, especially the ones hiding in your tray.
  16. Any news on a fix for this? The error where the coh crash window pops up EVERY time you attempt to close the game.

I didn't post this in Tech because i'm not the first(there have been hundreds by now) to report it, I'm asking for "Player Help" on whether or not any official word on it has been released in patchnotes or a devcomment anywhere. I know people love keeping up with that stuff .
  17. Wow. I read the post about Freedom's initial details the morning it was posted to cityofheroes.com and was skeptical. Now I'm excited . I have altitis so premium is out of the question, but VIPs get tons of cool stuffs besides what we get for our sub now.
  18. I get the most out of the origins pack, but I have all boosters minus the partypack and steampunk. Origins gives you a variety of capes(one passes as a nice generic cape), full mantle style without the vetreward or anything, and a nice variety of auras to pick from at level1.
  19. yup I know. I filed an official support ticket at NCSoft. A GM escalated it days ago and haven't answered since, but since it's something they'll have to research to possibly give me an answer to I figured I'd see if any players had any idea while I waited.
  20. I was thinking of that, but it's just a fire scrapper's power customization, idk if those powercust files will ever load live if they won't now .

I loaded up test and screenshotted the power customization window and attempted to copy it by eye on live for now. I'm still interested in what ideas a GM will have, if they ever respond.
  21. Does anyone who plays on the test server frequently know if copying powercustomization files from the test server folder to your maincoh folder allows them to load? I made a character with powercustomization on beta, just about all 18 powers customizated meticulously, and I can't get my copy of coh attached to the live servers to notice it's now in the live powercust folder.(I made it on beta because the idea of the look required 3 togglepowers stacking and looking well, and I wanted it done before the character was made, instead of changing them as I leveled up on live)

If it were some new powerset being tested on beta I was trying to get live to notice I would understand, but it's a fire/fire scrapper, and Issue 20.5 didnt have any new sets, so if it is blocked somehow I don't understand why.

I was able to load the powercust file from beta onto the test server. I resaved it while on test as a new file, and tried copying that one to live, and it still didn't show up.

I spent like 2+ hours working on this character's costume and powerset customization on beta so she'd be all setup when I create her on live, and I can't access the powers, which actually are harder to replicate than the costume.

I've been dying to run this new toon for like 5 days now. I sent a petition asking this same question, which was promptly escalated. That was 2 days ago and I haven't heard a word since. It's a weekday, geez .

I know some people have their own reasons for using the test server frequently so I figured I'd re-ask this here and see if anyone has done it successfully before.

My guess is that the devs realize that players tend to team with acquaintances or use the server channels to find teams. A more sophisticated team search window wouldn't significantly change that dynamic, I would guess.

Finally, the trial LFG queue is an end-around the team search window. In theory you just queue up for the trial you want and when enough other like-minded people do so, the trial just starts.

If that's the direction they're going, any time spent on the team search window is wasted effort.
I would say people form teams all those other ways because the search window is flawed, not because it's a they'd rather use those if the search window was accurate.

I've successfully organized trials at 3am before via tell hitting level50s via search(ignoring the rainbowtext of the searchresults), when people aren't in their globalchat channel tab because nobody's used it in hours anyway, or not in queue....because it's 3am, they could run their 5 tips for the day and log off without the queue they could've joined ever having 1 person besides them join it(I've never once heard of a trial not started by pre-formed league on my server anyway though). And the queue limits you to pretty much standing in a single place excluding an SG Base doing nothing for it to work I think, I'm not sure, like I said my server doesn't use it.

The rainbow idea was kinda nuts, and as the OP said, they rainbow'd all the different flags, but the code behind 3 of the most important ones still has their labels interchangeable.
  23. This would happen to me when my Mcafee virusprotection would decide that my CoH mission was the perfect time to download and install updates lol . Make sure nothing like that is popping up in the background hogging your CPU.
  24. While playing around on the beta server I made a new character, with highly customized power coloring. I decided to copy the costume and power files from their folders in the beta directory to my live directory. The costumes (in the costumes folder) load(minus the stuff that isn't live yet), but the powercustomization doesn't appear in my list when I try to load it(placed in the powercust folder in my live install directory).

Any idea why they won't read? I'm pretty sure I copied a costume and powers to test server once when the copytool wasn't working for a dev event and I wanted my costume updated, but this is my first issue/major patch ive played on the beta server for.

Also, the costumes appeared in the list while in game(after closing and re-opening the load screen), I could have sworn power customization updated without a restart too, but I deleted a bunch of stuff from the folder, and closing and reopening the powers load window showed the deleted ones still in the list .

Let's look at it like this cox is ice cream and you like to eat your ice cream with a spoon in a bowl but I like to put mine in a cup and let it melt then just drink it. Expressing a negative view towards farming makes about as much sense as saying if you don't eat your ice cream the same exact way I eat mine you need to fall off of the earth.
    Amen! Bro. Prophetsrage!

    Arbroeaux!

Seriously though, let the farmers farm, and the players play. We balance each other out in the end. W/O farmers, the people who like to just go to the black market/WW and get the enhancements and receipes wouldn't be able to do that. But thanks to the farmers, you can. I know a great many players who HATE fighting the same mobs over and over and over again just to get tickets/drops/rares for their build. Let the Farmers take care of it for you and play on.

Farmers who need to run missions and complete certain objectives have the players to fall on for their knowledge and support. Now you get to show off your fancy build because it was placed on the Marketplace for you to purchase. Now we over here like, "nice build". You guys are can be powerhouses.

    BAM!

    We work together.
    Very nice explanation .

And Prophets the secret to farmers not speaking up is because (according to your joindate) before you joined when the AE was first added there was a ton of ways to exploit certain enemies, created by the devs of course, but before AE were only controllable by a dev's hand designing a mission map. With AE people plucked out support characters with no offensive powers and stuffed them onto maps, and 50s were being born in under 4 hours. Reckless farmers invited noobs to their farm for free, creating "AE babies"; players who joined the day before with an insta-50 and didn't know Atlas Park wasn't the only zone.

When the exploits were stopped and some characters were actually reverse-leveled anyone who spoke up/whined about the exploits going away on the forums had their thread deleted, and possible posting rights taken away it was such a problem.
Understandably so some members are still afraid to admit to farming in general because of that memory.

I farm because I just plain don't enjoy playing lower level characters with only a few concept based(meaning primary/secondary not inherent, vet, temp, or pool) attacks. The faster they are out of the teens for me the better. The lv32, 38, and Ancillary powers are usually the most epic feeling to use(at least for me with most powersets, before Incarnates) and I like having them sooner. Also any non-melee character isn't offered any non-pool protection power until Ancil/Epics at 41, and for my squishies that have gotten above that those are powers to live by.

Even though I enjoy farming(or it's benefits I should say) I still have been playing CoH for 3.5 years with no interuptions in subscription and only have 6 50s.

Also the big one; it's City of Heroes. As a forum-goers sig says; I have more fun feeling overpowered killing things weaker than me, like a superhero. Being evenly matched, struggling, or of course laying dead don't feel "super" to me.

I actually was given CoH as a gift from Mom who didn't know it was an MMO, and it was my first. I loved my Gameboy games 10x more after getting a Gameshark to get the best of the best faster, it's just how I am lol.

Before Incarnates people complained CoH "had no endgame". I never agreed with that, I've always had the most fun on my 50s. Now with the incredible Incarnate powers I strive to get more characters there ASAP even more so.

I'm actually planning a fire3 scrapper for use in my-resistance-based AE missions now. I have no preference of AT really but I've seen some amazing things done with Fiery Aura. So farmers; how are fire/fire/fire scrappers? I actually don't have many scrappers, I read over Critical Hit's info last night, that looks like it's perfect for highrank enemies in a farm I'd say?
