  1. I don't have a ton of time to review right now, but since this has been one of my main toons for awhile I noticed some things right off the bat:

    1) Go Cardiac Core- there's no reason not to go 45% on Endurance savings and you still get the 20% resistance. There's really no benefit to going radial, especially since you will need every sliver of endurance possible for this build since it's such an END hog in chunks. On paper- yes you like fine, but SS/SD is perhaps one of the most endurance intensive combos in the game when you're firing off moves one after another. Definitely go Core.

    2) You're wasting an additional slot in Combat Jumping and Grant Cover. The Defensive bonus you are getting for yourself in CJ and other teammates in GC is negligible- save the slots and put them elsewhere. Drop your LOTG + Recharges in those sets and move on.

    3) For the harder end game content, you're going to want to throw One with the Shield in there, even if it has no slots. I have a purple intensive build and have spent billions- and he's still a bit too squishy for my liking on incarnate trials (and I'm soft-capped to just about every positional defense). You'll want to make one with the shield one of your "Crap, I'm in too deep!" powers, and it's also not a bad selection for getting endurance back as well- you'll be spending it like no tomorrow.

    4) Instead of 6 slotting boxing with Makos, 6 slot the Numina set in True Grit, and then 6 slot Stamina with the Performance Shifter set for the AOE defense- you're burning slots on Boxing that's not going to benefit you when Stamina is really, really an emphasis on this power combo (I can't stress that enough- you need every bit you can get, especially if you ever want to do farming (which you might as well, it's basically only second to SS/FA Brutes when built correctly).

There's also some other things, but I have a lot of work this morning so I'll try to get back to you later.
  2. I saw your thread in the build workshop:

Yes, good Proc-heavy Dark Melee chains are still available, and if you pair it with secondaries like /Dark, it can get pretty insane if you have the powers multi-procced and you're not gimping yourself by having too many and taking away from your base attack damage.

It gets even crazier once you pick up T4 Reactive from Interface.

Claws/ is pretty good too for quick firing proc builds.
  3. Hmm...I think its a Controller option in relevance to just being able to slot the MOST Procs- but I'm assuming you want a more damage-focused type toon...

We had this discussion one time back in the day. I'm trying to think, but I remember one of the finalists for the most active TOGGLES that could be multi-Procced was Spines/Dark with Quills, Death Shroud, and Cloak of Fear (All of which can hold multiple and different set typed damage Procs from their IO lines).

In terms of an overall toon that incorporates the most single target/fast recharging attacks that can be heavily procced combined with DMG toggle procs- I've had too much to drink tonight to think on that one or remember what the top AT/Combo was.
  4. Reading comprehension at its finest folks, here on the CoX boards. Pyro you need to go back and look at exactly what I've written because you obviously aren't getting it, or understanding the content or context.

I don't feed trolls, and I've requested information from the OP. Seems to me the thread went downhill when you your munch buddy started attacking people requesting information from the OP- so why don't you guys chillax and give them time to respond, and take your yacking elsewhere.

Or go create your 4 man /Time God Squad and pose for the ladies. Mike, don't get all butthurt because someone said Time wasn't optimal, and it just so happened to be your suggestion. No one is attacking it.

My plant/time troller is solo holding things none of my other trollers have ever had a chance of doing and that's before slotting. My Time/fire defender is quite capable as well, but high-level steamroller teams are better off with more control than the stronger debuffs / buffs that the defenders can put out. And honestly, I'm not that good of a player... I do die sometimes but I can accept that on a godsquad steamrolling team.
Call it what you want and do what you'd like, but 4 /Time will be outperformed and out-survived by many other 4 man combos.

Call incompetence when I say Time sucks, which I did not. But feel free to take other things I say to the extreme. Seems like this community is getting pretty good at it. Bottom line is, if the OP wants an optimal 4 man God-mode team, they could do better than 4 /Times, kill faster, and die less in the process.

A bit. I'm not saying ALL the options are bad, I'm just simply asking the OP- what exactly are you trying to accomplish with a God-Squad? Usually there's an understated purpose or part of the game in mind, whether it be TF/Regular MIssions/AV-killing team, etc.

That gives experienced vets an idea of what you're looking to do so we could suggest the proper/optimal combo's. There will be certain power combos that are good for one thing but not optimal for another.

A good example would be 4 /Times. I've played exclusively with a Time since it's been released, and you'll be able to get away with more with 6-8 of exclusive /Time AT's than 4. Compared to the other options you WOULD like to go for if you're duplicating AT's, /Time may not be quite optimal. In fact, its really not.

FOTM? Yes. Good? Absolutely. But optimal 'God-Squad' in CoX with a 4 man team? Meh, no. But thats just one example.

The OP also said something about wanting to be 'Debuff' heavy, but is also open to VEATS. Well, if you're running around with 4 Widows/Forts, you're not doing a lot of debuffing at all- so certain combo's wouldn't be good for that. See what I mean? Having in mind a purpose helps. 4 Fire/Rads could just about cream anything, but it doesn't look like they want that option, so Im just trying to dig further.

This. But I still have to say I prefer ELA > Invul when it comes to end-game content. Yes, on a Scrapper Invul is superior when it comes to pure survivability. But that's about where the argument FOR Anything/Invul/Anything ends, IMO.

I'm really digging my ice/time troll. I never really cared much for ice control before this (I'm more of an illusion or earth kinda guy) but my ice/time is pretty fun. The arctic air and time's juncture combo is surprisingly effective at shutting spawns down. I will admit, I do spend a lot of time staring at things and silently wishing them ill-will rather than actually hurting them but that's what dps pets (i.e. teammates) are for.
    Exactly.

You'll never kill much of anything, but that's not your job. My Ice/Time is enjoyable if I'm in the mood to watch things moon walk in slow motion.

    Just some notes here:

    - Per the upthread comments- Ice/Time's endurance problems end abruptly once you get any form of Cardiac Alpha slot and decent end bonuses from IO's. I couldn't run out of endurance if I tried, and I run the toggle-heavy version of the build.

    - Shiver or N. Breath (or both) can be somewhat redundant, especially if you're running the toggle heavy builds that already have a lot of -Recharge - Speed in them and you're using Distortion field. I've seen some folks keep Shiver but I've never needed it.

    - I go with a Ranged defense build, as I have no problems with mobs that are close to me with all the toggles, obviously, so I like the ranged defense and mez protection more than having capped S/L. (Thats just preference though).

    - Your money powers for NOT getting spiked are still Ice Slick and Glacier. Run in without using either of those on mobs that are +4, and you may be taking a dirt nap. Use distortion field alone before running in, and you still might be taking a nap if there's no other aggro control. Not every time, but enough to realize that you just need to use either power on new groups of mobs if you're taking the alpha engagement of that specific group by yourself. If not, just let the tank/Brute/Scrapper do their job and follow with your debuffs/holds, etc.

+4 x8 settings are too low sometimes, yes, I agree. Unfortunately there's nothing we can do about that atm. If we're in the 'God-Mode' discussion here, a 'God-Mode' team would steam roll +4 x8 Trials/TFs/SFs without taking on deaths themselves. Vengeance jokes aside, it seems like that's what the OP is trying to accomplish.

Plus, if I can lead a pick up group most nights on a +4 x8 TF and beast it, a 'God-Mode' team sure as hell better be able to do it- otherwise it's one hell of a mockery to call it that.
  11. What is this team going to be doing? A lot of the combinations being thrown out here would faceplant on the higher end trials with multiple AV's and EB's, ambushes, number of mobs, etc.

To me, a God mode team is one where no one dies and everything gets steamrolled. I promise you with some of these combos being listed, you might not all die on the harder TF/Trials/SF's with multiple EB's/AV's/Boss ambushes, etc.- but someone is going to.
  12. You would understand if you were taking into consideration what the toggles I have on do to things in Melee range, and how the mobs tend to react. When I died, it was usually from a ranged alpha or side mob and not in melee range, so I tweaked it appropriately.

This has really been close to an unkillable toon when I play him seriously, so it's been fun.

But I do run CS when it's up, I was just stating above that's all I needed to hit to make IW virtually perma- just for those curious how the synergy was there.
  13. Figured I'd show folks what I'm running since there seems to be lot's of different builds going up and questions concerning /Time slotting with Troller primaries. This is a "Teaming" build only. I tend to play this like a Melee Troller and...well, it works.

I know folks tend to get a hard on for Power Boost, but I'd rather run the 3 Auras and not have to constantly punch or lock in a recycling power boost- it gets annoying to me- but that's just a preference.

    ---------------------------------------------
    Strengths of the build include:

-Soft Capped Ranged DEF (Before Time Juncture is applied)
-Benefits of 3 concurrent AOE Auras contributing to -Speed, +Confusion, -Recharge, -ToHit, -Damage
    -No Endurance Issues
-Perma Hasten/Mez Protection (Perma-Mez if I hit Chrono Shift at any point)

Technically, I've been hooked up once with a costume code through Avatea and Tony at Titan, and I can't help but consider if my inclusion in the recent betas hasn't been as a result of my position as Mids' developer (this hasn't been confirmed, though). I certainly wouldn't mind more recognition, but my wife says my head swells too easily so that might not be a good idea. :P

If we want to talk seriously about authorizing us as an official build planner and so forth, there's a lot to say there. Sure, it would be nice to be hired on to work fulltime on the game, but (a) it'd have to be full-time, and (b) I'd have to telecommute, since I live in Israel and not to eager to return to the US' receding economy and expensive healthcare. Furthermore, there is something to be said for our veracity and trustworthiness in the fact that unlike the devs, we don't answer to Black Pebble*. *waits a moment in case of lightning* We're only beholden to our idealism, and you don't have to look at our products and wonder whether or not we're holding something back because of PR or marketing.
That's good you're at least getting some kind of kudos- although I will still think it's not enough, but we can go on forever about that. In terms of the U.S. - I don't know man- once you have good group benefits from an employer somewhere you don't see the high healthcare, nor care as much. If everyone had to purchase their own there would be riots in the streets because of the costs. But even if you're self employed, I'd have to rethink that statement...

....I mean I love Israel and everything, but high healthcare costs > chance of stray rockets/missles hitting my house- and I say that as respectfully as I can. It's not exactly the safest place to live. The U.S. at least has oceans between the surrounding nations wanting to bomb us into oblivion- you guys a 15-20ft. fence. Not trying to be a party pooper, just saying.

Yes....my level 50 Ice/Time Controller is drooling for the new Mid's update as well. ; P

Thank you guys for working so hard and diligently for the community here. It's a very nice gesture by you guys to get this out soon for the community at large to use.

If you guys don't already have high paying technical development jobs, it would be a crying shame if you didn't at least get some new offers. Count me as one who believes Paragon Studios should purchase Mid's or pay you some type of royalty fee for keeping so many of their subscribers around. At this point, even a public acknowledgement would be good.

I mean really, no B.S.- I think in many ways Mid's saved this game and added another end-game activity that is one of the greatest mind and number crunching puzzles one could play attached to an MMO. And I say 'play' because it HAS become part of the meta-game that is City of Heroes.

All the 'Cow/Free Milk' analogies aside- if Paragon/Cryptic has never emailed you guys personally or hooked you up somehow, I'd say they really need to check on their priorities and get their junk straight. I know I'm much more cut throat personally- if I developed Mid's I'd be charging for the download, or selling it to the game developers for big time money to use as an add-on or in-game interface addition.

Just saying- we all appreciate what you guys do, and you definitely should get credit and opportunities where they are deserved.
  17. I'm worried about the Tier 9 Toggle in Poison not being colorable. I have asked for a confirmation, but if we have to run it as is, I'm not interested, and thats sad given how devastating the Ice/Poison combo would be.
  18. Can someone confirm if Venomous Gas is still green even after you choose to color all of your powers another color???

If we can't change it let me know, and I'll just stop why I'm ahead.

I can't see why they wouldn't make this hideous power color/animation tintable, but I can't touch it in the custom power menu screen. I was thinking it might be like the other Tier 9's that you can mess with but still change colors when you select to coordinate power colors.

But twice in one episode? I thought that was pushing it a little. Now I'm almost going to be expecting a "random wolf attack" in every episode. All I'm saying is that from a literary point of view that kind of minor deus ex machina can quickly lose its significance if it gets used every half-hour of the show.

Other than that I thought it was a great episode and looking forward to seeing more of this series.
Yeah you'll need to read the rest of the books to understand that interaction. The direwolves are -simply put- not regular animals. This is a mystical world you're reading within, so don't get fooled by the very gritty nature of the first two books (or the first season of Game of Thrones). The depth of content and world background expands every book.

So you faceplant often just running FoN up most of the time? I figured it would provide a pretty good buffer for longer range blasting builds.

What powerset do you have, and what specifics do you experience usually on TF's/Hard mishes with that setup?

Because remember: FoN + Temp invul = Blaster capped S/L Resists at 75 % and at least 50% resists to all other but Psi. If thats not usually enough I'd like to know what scenario and and why it isnt usually, especially in a team environment?
  21. I thought I saw somewhere that the global Spiritual + Recharge actually does have an effect on other Incarnate Powers- but hey- thanks for clearing up that part at least.

Now if I can just find someone who runs a Blaster like this?
  22. Just wanted to see if anyone has done this before and if they think it's viable int he end game Incarnate Trials and higher level TF's.

I've played a capped Ranged/S/L Blaster before and wasn't too impressed, so I want to see how a very aggressive Blaster who swapped the T4 Barrier and Force of Nature back and forth has faired, and if it's fun to do.

This is with the assumption that you get Spiritual for your Alpha slot. (I'm hearing that actually effects the recharge of your Destiny ability, correct?)

Right now I have my FoN recharging in about 1.9 minutes without any of my Force Feedback's procing, which I have in several attacks in concept right now. Which kinda leads me to my next question: When the +Recharge from Force Feedback set procs, does it also effect the Destiny ability or just your normal powers?

Anyways- if someone has played a Blaster with this concept please let me know if you've had fun and if it's effective!

    Thanks.
  23. I'll have a thread up soon on my SS/SD Brute build, but I think you see less of them because of cost. It's easier to undertake a good SS/FA Brute build than to perform a /Shield build correctly.

But, SS/SD are just under SS/FA Brute in terms of team/solo/farmer/mission/TF strength. It's a fanstatic combo that often leads to me pulling AV aggro from any other Brute or Scrapper on the team once my AAO + Double Stacked Rage + Team buffed Knockout Blow starts hitting for 2k + chunks of AV health.

Its downright lethal if you have the correct build and smarts to play a /Shield Brute effectively, especially in mishes where it's +4x8.

I'd say only undertake a SS/SD Brute if you have billions of influence and purple IO's to burn through, and you accept that you will have to take the Cardiac Alpha slot. The killing power gets really nast once you have multiple Incarnate trees maxed.

If not, I would say it's not worth the time or influence when you can have just as much fun on other toons that approach SS/SD levels- or in the case of SS/FA - surpass it with AOE capability.
  24. It's my understanding that Melee Forts are actually superior to Night Widows in Purped Out builds if- and thats a BIG IF- you have the money to put the build together and you put the build together intelligently.

I know mine was just pathetically insane single target buzzsaw damage with good AOE before I took all his purps out for my SS/SD Brute. I was pissed I couldn't get the Talsorian claw graphics on him so I said screw it, but if costume options don't bother you- and you have the money- I'd say Melee Fort > Night Widow for a variety of reasons.
  25. Everything is subjective, including the "What is the AOE King of Scrappers?"

Spines/ is about the only non-subjective part. Some folks would say Fire/, but Spines has it outclassed a bit when it comes to the AOE attack chain flow, power recharge times, range and cone parameters, etc. Spines is definitely going to be it.

AOE King when it comes to damage? Spines/Fire no question- but get ready to die a lot, and know that you are severely limited in terms of the +2-4 level mob groups you can even attempt to take out.

Spines/Electric is good, nice recharge bonuses and resistances as well as a damage aura, but kind of 'middle of the road' AOE and survivability potential.

Now...if you'd like to be considered one of the best AOE kings but still be tougher than nails to take out? I think Spines/Dark is a clear choice thats ahead of the others when it comes to survivability and making sure you keep attacking non-stop when other secondaries would be faceplanting against +2's or +4 mob groups.

I run around 42% Melee Defense with 47% Resistances across the board except for Energy and Toxic (those are 23%), with Cloak of Fear running, with Dark Regeneration recycling every 10 seconds with a 60% Heal on a single minion hit. Think about that for a moment....

I've either got to be drunk or high to faceplant, and even then it's a challenge. ; P

So couple those high survivability features with the AOE attack chain of Spines, the toggles of Quills + Death Shroud, the extra AOE/soft control of Torrent, and 123 endurance, and you have yourself quite the survivable AOE monster.
