I can't view the build right now Deus, but I'll try to check it out in the morning.

I don't really have a price range I have farmers as well as a stockpile of enhancements, but I do tend to stay away from purples unless I really enjoy a toon.

I had been staying away from Cardiac for end management favoring ageless but with SD it looks like the +res would come in handy (at least it seems like I remember cardiac having +resistance on it).

I did take a look at /elec and I was liking what I saw.

lol myself maybe they were right when they told me I had narcissistic tendencies, I just noticed all my sentences started with I

After reading all of your great input I have decided to keep leveling my WM/SD while I realize it might not be as pretty or STRONG as EA but I certainly like the look of it. One of the biggest questions I have though is about One With Shield while it looks like a great power mids appears to show it as a power than cannot recieve recharge enhancments, is that right? If it is right does that make a skippable power or basically just a get out of jail free power?

I have a build that I threw together at work so I cannot post it right now but I was a little uncertain as to what I am building for. I was assuming positional defenses but what numbers I am shooting for 32.5 or 45?

I want to make a character that does good at fighting as many different mobs in the game as possible solo, not too worried about AV's or GM's. I have a WM / SD toon now in his 20's but I am not sure if that is the secondary that will allow me to run tips or radio or contact missions solo with no worries no matter what mobs are in them. I want a toon that is fun to play and I like the look of WM so I can't be talked out of that but I am just not sure about the secondary.

I was assuming brute would be the way to go but I don't mind playing a tanker if that is a better fit.
  4. If you are talking about cardiac then I would not suggest it unless you only had minor end problems and were looking for a little more resistance anyway.

T4 Ageless will end your endurance problems.

as far as best pool probably energy (at work can't remember if that is the right name) the one that gives you physical perfection and in brutes gives end recovery auto buff instead of conserve power. It will cramp your style if you want to farm by taking that instead of mu or soul but it is do-able I took it on my scrapper and energy torrent is not bad for a cone as a matter of fact its not bad at all imo.

Also obliterations do not play nice with your blue bar, especially in blazing aura.

P.S. just remembered you can also find some aoe's that take the performance shifter +end proc and slot those which may help out.
  5. My plant/storms/ice controller has more survivability than my claws/fire brute and my spines/fire scrapper way more even in +4x8 with bosses ambushes he is a complete animal then throw in rebirth t4 and it turns into a joke a bad one and its on the mobs because with SoC/roots/CC/tornado and the 2 ice storms it is calamitous and I am just sitting in the corner digging through the skittles trying to figure out what flavor I like....it usually ends up with me eating all the reds though.

Yes start your mission at the computer then talk to the guy and have it set up to where all you have to do is click the portal to zone in then eat, eat, eat, eat run run zone kill, kill, kill at low levels you will be leveling as well so you will have those buffs to help out on top of inspiration ones then eat all the skittles as they drop, that will get you enough levels pretty quickly to start opening up those extra inspiration slots if you are using pretty much anything with a damage aura you could be in your 20's before the paint dries on your new character.

There is nothing wrong with folks expressing their opinion against farming. That does not mean they are attack folks who chose to farm.
I disagree because their opinion about farming does not really make sense whether someone chooses to farm with a toon they created on their account has no bearing on the people around them it is akin to a racial bias in that hatred towards a farmer is because he is a farmer and with no more or less substance than that.

Let's look at it like this cox is ice cream and you like to eat your ice cream with a spoon in a bowl but I like to put mine in a cup and let it melt then just drink it. Expressing a negative view towards farming makes about as much sense as saying if you don't eat your ice cream the same exact way I eat mine you need to fall off of the earth.

    1) Punctuation is your friend.
    2) Not really sure who you are aiming this at. Folks are just expressing their opinions.
    3) Maybe decaff
Typical that was pretty much the response I expected - basic - your points are valid so I cannot argue with that so I will attack you grammatically or on some other grounds.

I was not aiming at anyone in particaular and was expressing my opinion as well but you proved my point in that my opinion is inferior to yours because it is not in line with your thoughts and feelings.

Listen like I said I respect your views and I am sure you are likely very knowledgeable about the game in general, I just want to make the point that some people simply enjoy farming and it is no more complicated than that and overall I see a lot of animus towards people who do and the post was simply a compilation of past posts and current insighting a response in defense of farming as simply a play style.
  9. You know some people do enjoy farming. I have noticed with this game more than any other mmo I have ever played and I have been playing them since right after acheron's call released that the intolerance of the way other people spend their time in this game with absolutely no impact on other peoples is mind boggling, I am completely content to mindlessly farm all the time not because I need the money or because I am greedy but because I like to destroy massive amounts of people, I like to tweak my build to find what I can do to improve my times what tactics I can use to become a little better and I like the randomness of the ticket turn ins, I don't like to group except with friends and I hate running missions I just really like to go to AE make a couple farm runs then log off and go do something else. It amazes me that people are so judgmental about what other people are doing and have such a narcissistic approach about why can't everybody play exactly like me otherwise they are doing it wrong, but fortunately I do have a solution though if people don't like me farming then they can pay my subscription and then I will play however they would like me to. Sorry I just felt like I needed to get that out there I see a lot of anti farm animosity, but I don't see many people from the other side express their feelings on the matter, and while I completely respect your views that farming may not be for you all I ask is that you respect ours of being content to go into AE and never come out ...except maybe to do some incarnate stuff then go back in and well do what we do.
  10. Good information here thanks guys! Sorry I never chimed back in I went on my off days so I was playing CoH and not so much on the forums. Thanks Bill Z you talked me into claws\fire instead of ss/sd and I am loving it even with redraw and all I just like claws. One of the biggest things I saw with shield was I had found 2 sets (I think one was footstomp) to put that +rech proc.

P.S. claws = much cheaper than shield build 8)
  11. I must be doing something wrong, I only have time to click inspirations then hit something like FU-spin-burn but mostly I am just clicking inspirations even with macro I spend the majority of my time eating skittles, I notice a lot of emphasis on a good attack chain but do you guys really get to spam an attack chain more than once because I certainly can't not with a mouthful of skittles. I have to be doing it wrong, also I am glad that we don't get a sugar crash from the skittles that would suck.
  12. His "F" key was broken his title should read Brute build for farms, anyways I was trying to help him out on mids with his build, but I have never built a brute before, so I am clueless. Like he said he is just coming back to the game after a long time away and this toon is on a new server which he has no charecters on so he needs a money maker to establish an income, so any feedback would help.
  13. I remembered a while back when SD came out making a SS/SD toon and I loved playing him. I then started mesing around with mids with a build and wow well it looked insane to me. The defense numbers and recharge was staggering, now I have been reading the post on the best farmer and I don't even remember the SS/SD AT ever being mentioned. Does the build not work like mids is showing it should or are their problems with the toon that I am not seeing? Or is /fire just that much better? Talk me out of rolling this toon because It is going to cost me a fortune to build!
  14. It is front loaded for damage now from what I can understand most of the damage coming from the initial cast. I know a lot of people have this problem with the runners on spines fire but I notice if I build-burn or fiery embrace-burn most would be runners melt and the bosses get flipped with energy torrent and then perforated with throw spines, so I know it is a big problem but I don't seem to be suffering from it as much as most because of my power picks energy torrent - throw spines ftw!!!

My Ice/Ice tank can do AE ambush farms set to +4/8 in just under 6 minutes
thats no where near as bad as I thought I am getting around 5 with my scrapper, but I just re-did him so I am still trying to work out the build.

Just chug reds instead of using Rage
    why this?
  16. I have the bind just trying to figure out who I want to do most of my farming with have a few toons that I like playing just need to know what ones to invest in.
  17. anyone have any numbers inf/min?
  18. I know I know brutes, brutes, brutes whatever, but can an Ice/SS tanker farm well enough to at least be respectable at it even if not optimal?
  19. Well to be honest I am still not exactly decided on who I want my pure farmer to be I do pretty good on my plant/storms but I was thinking if I invested a little, my scrapper should be able to do better, I am thinking now that I don't mind a mainly farming but still able to go outside of AE build. I know the runners are a problem but not as much as I thought they would be in AE at least, the fire demon farm is a diffrent story but AE is so confined that even though they want to run they can't get far enough away. I have been juggling the idea of making a brute I just really don't want to as it seems everyone has a /fire farming brute. I am really just undecided because I just spent well over 5 billion on my plant storms guy and only being able to get a little over a mill a minute is disconcerting to me. I have this guy at 50 for a while now as well as a Warshade and a SS/Ice tanker so I was just trying to use what I had and make it farm worthy, and this toon seemed like the best choice out of what I have.

P.S. no I did not know that ET was KD not KB I only had experience with it from a blaster a looong time ago and remember mobs flying all over, but I must say I really like it on my scrapper and I am OK keeping it instead of blaze even if blaze is more optimal for farming, because tbh I really like ET it is my new favorite power.
  20. OK thanks Ultra, that helps, I'll bow out now and let the OP have his thread back.

?? does this go for scrappers as well? Because I was just excoriated for building for S/L on a farm build and told specifically to build for fire defense. I am so confused.

    Mainly I just farm
Sorry I though I mentioned that maybe I should have been more specific, I will almost exclusively be farming AE with this build for TF's and normal everyday things I can use an alternate build. I cannot seem to get mids to imports the builds properly I am sure it is user error, so I cannot look at the other builds posted. I have a 32% fire defense build which also has 33% melee which seems like it should cover me even if they close into melee it will use my melee d instead of S/L right? The endurance problems in AE are not really a big deal I run conserve power with spiritual alpha it is up most of the time with consume to fill in the gaps. I am running right now with worse endurance problems and it is manageable, I am used to it now because I have been playing a plant/storms controller so I find ways to deal with massive endurance dumps. If I have to I can take ageless and all my endurance problems go away but I would like to manage them enough to where I can take rebirth instead. Also is spiritual the right way to go? I wanted to have conserve power and consume up as much as possible and have enough recharge to rip with burn, throw spines, ripper, energy torrent, or do I need to look at musculature instead, I am trying to go for DPS mainly so spiritual or musculature?
  23. This is my re-tooled build I know melee is still high but I think I have S/L where I want it and Melee was just a byproduct. I still did not get a chance to check out the build from elegost I will grab I tnow and hopefully I can look over it tonight at work in the meantime though I was hoping for some feedback on this one. The enduarance still looks troubling but if I have to I will go ageless instead of rebirth I am hoping with spiritual I will have consume up often and conserve power with only a 60 second gap or so.

  24. OK took out ragnoroks and I got S/L down to 32.6% put my toggles at 4 slots with reactive armor. I kept my defense as primarily S/L because thats what I am more comfortable with since it covers more. Put 2x end.red. in focused accuracy and left it at that. Melee is still high at 38% because of the obliterations, but without very high ranged or fire defense will their ranged fire only attacks massacre me? Can't repost until I get off in the morning. I tried messing around with building for fire defense and it looks like I would have to retool the entire build.
