I have been playing this toon for a while and I mostly solo in AE, I have body mastery now and I have no complaints so I think I will try and keep it. Mainly I just farm, occasionally I badge hunt and I never exemplar. I will be taking Spiritual alpha 45% recharge w/healing one. Trying to post before I leave for work so forgive me if I forgot to mention something.

It is difficult to determine what you are trying to do with the character. You mentioned farming, but you don't have good fire defense. Your S/L and Melee defenses are high, but not at one of the "sweet spots". Without knowing what you are trying to achieve, it is hard to give more than generic advice.


Your toggles are slotted poorly, which has led to your endurance use being almost the same as your recovery. I usually put at least 3 slots in my togges. If I'm going for a 3-slot bonus, I use the x/End, x/End/Rech, and x enhancements from a set. The x is the type of power: defense or resistance. Also, you are over the fire resistance cap for Scrappers. You don't need Temperature Protection, but it does make a decent mule power for a 3% defense IO.

You mixed a lot of melee defense with S/L defense sets. That is not very efficient. First, the game only looks at your highest applicable defense category to determine the hit chance on any given attack. If an attack has melee, smashing, and fire damage, only your melee defense will be looked at in your current build. Most melee attacks have a S/L component to them. A vast number of ranged attacks also have S/L in them. If you only have room in your build for one type of defense, getting just S/L defense will protect you in the most content. If you have room for two types, get S/L and E/N. If you have room for three types of defenses, go for all three positionals.

The "sweet spots" for defense I mentioned above are 45%, 32.5%, and 20%. Non-incarnate content critters have a base to-hit of 50% and the minimum hit chance before accuracy modifiers is 5%. This means any defense beyond 45% does nothing in most of the game's content. One small inspiration gives 12.5% and they can be bought many vendors. Using a small inspiration while you are at 32.5% will bring you up to 45%. Using two small inspirations (or one medium) while you are at 20% will bring you up to 45%. Obtaining 40% defense then using an inspiration means all the sets you used to go from 32.5% to 40% are effectively wasted in most of the game's content.

If your character is only going to be used for AE farming, you only need fire defense. Find a good fire farm map and leverage your fire resistance for maximum survivability.

You have a lot of set bonuses that are not adding anything significant to your character. Damage, recovery, regeneration, and healing bonuses are not worth chasing on this character. That means, don't end a set on one of those bonuses. Go for defense or recharge bonuses and if you happen to get one of those on the way, then good for you. One example set is Impervium Armor. It adds .042 end/s recovery. Your Fire Shield power consumes .209 end/s. That means it takes five of those bonuses just to offset one toggle and you're running so many toggles that you barely have 1 end/s net recovery (with Focused Accuracy off) to use on attack powers.

The Ragnarok proc is useless in Energy Torrent. A KB magnitude of .67 means it is a knockdown. The chance for knockdown in Energy Torrent is 100%

OK took out ragnoroks and I got S/L down to 32.6% put my toggles at 4 slots with reactive armor. I kept my defense as primarily S/L because thats what I am more comfortable with since it covers more. Put 2x end.red. in focused accuracy and left it at that. Melee is still high at 38% because of the obliterations, but without very high ranged or fire defense will their ranged fire only attacks massacre me? Can't repost until I get off in the morning. I tried messing around with building for fire defense and it looks like I would have to retool the entire build.

a couple things:

1: Energy Torrent from APP actually does KD, unlike blasters.
Having the ragnarok proc in it wouldn't really do much, other than add another %chance for the KD to happen.

2: stealth gives incorrect defense numbers in mids, it doesn't give you the values you'd have when it's suppressed, so it's presenting higher numbers than you'd actually be seeing.

If you're using this toon for farming - AE farming - I'd suggest the same thing. Find a farm with nothing but fire damage, and, if you use something like the build I made, will also hopefully be almost entirely fire melee (resists 75% of it, dodges ~80% of it)

Also consider getting an alpha slot in the build. Cardiac or musculature would both be potentially good routes, or maybe spiritual, but either way, getting one will seriously help.

This is my re-tooled build I know melee is still high but I think I have S/L where I want it and Melee was just a byproduct. I still did not get a chance to check out the build from elegost I will grab I tnow and hopefully I can look over it tonight at work in the meantime though I was hoping for some feedback on this one. The enduarance still looks troubling but if I have to I will go ageless instead of rebirth I am hoping with spiritual I will have consume up often and conserve power with only a 60 second gap or so.

You still haven't said what your intended use for the character is. Your endurance use is still too high and will likely make this character less than enjoyable. I have posted a 32.5% S/L and E/N, as well as a 32.5% melee/ranged/aoe build in the past. If you are just trying to do general content, look for one of those. If you are trying to farm, fire defense and recharge are the only set bonuses you need.

Sorry I though I mentioned that maybe I should have been more specific, I will almost exclusively be farming AE with this build for TF's and normal everyday things I can use an alternate build. I cannot seem to get mids to imports the builds properly I am sure it is user error, so I cannot look at the other builds posted. I have a 32% fire defense build which also has 33% melee which seems like it should cover me even if they close into melee it will use my melee d instead of S/L right? The endurance problems in AE are not really a big deal I run conserve power with spiritual alpha it is up most of the time with consume to fill in the gaps. I am running right now with worse endurance problems and it is manageable, I am used to it now because I have been playing a plant/storms controller so I find ways to deal with massive endurance dumps. If I have to I can take ageless and all my endurance problems go away but I would like to manage them enough to where I can take rebirth instead. Also is spiritual the right way to go? I wanted to have conserve power and consume up as much as possible and have enough recharge to rip with burn, throw spines, ripper, energy torrent, or do I need to look at musculature instead, I am trying to go for DPS mainly so spiritual or musculature?

I saw those two sentences that said what you are doing now, but your build suggested you wanted to play outside of AE.

If you are only farming in AE, you only need fire defense and recharge bonus. Search for "fire farm" in AE to find the maps that will be best for you.

Just a note; if you only ever want to pharm, spines is going to be a little annoying. The slows (and being a scrapper, lack of punchvoke and no taunt in blazing aura) make mobs run around like scared little ... things that are really scared of something. :lol:

Not to bash the combo, I love spines, but if I were making a dedicated pharming toon, it probably wouldn't be my choice. It is fast, but chasing them down gets old faster.

You'd also get more milage for farming out of /blaze than wherever you picked up energy torrent.

Edit: Did not know torrent was KD not KB on scrappers. Still though, given the option I'd go with /blaze on a pharmer.


Double Edit: You said, build, not toon. :lol: Alternate pharming build, I get it now, go for it. That first sentence of mine can be blissfully ignored.

Well to be honest I am still not exactly decided on who I want my pure farmer to be I do pretty good on my plant/storms but I was thinking if I invested a little, my scrapper should be able to do better, I am thinking now that I don't mind a mainly farming but still able to go outside of AE build. I know the runners are a problem but not as much as I thought they would be in AE at least, the fire demon farm is a diffrent story but AE is so confined that even though they want to run they can't get far enough away. I have been juggling the idea of making a brute I just really don't want to as it seems everyone has a /fire farming brute. I am really just undecided because I just spent well over 5 billion on my plant storms guy and only being able to get a little over a mill a minute is disconcerting to me. I have this guy at 50 for a while now as well as a Warshade and a SS/Ice tanker so I was just trying to use what I had and make it farm worthy, and this toon seemed like the best choice out of what I have.


P.S. no I did not know that ET was KD not KB I only had experience with it from a blaster a looong time ago and remember mobs flying all over, but I must say I really like it on my scrapper and I am OK keeping it instead of blaze even if blaze is more optimal for farming, because tbh I really like ET it is my new favorite power.
