Is it really worth excluding a whopping 3 sets, to use your pet stereotypical term?
[/ QUOTE ]
Its an MMO, the term go "Tank" or go "scrap" are both stereotypical, its not a means to offend, but used in short. Helps people just get to the work need be done. If I ask for a "healer", I'm asking for someone with at the very least, one heal. If you've been playing the game for more than a month, than you would know that most if not all "healers" come with debuffs/buffs. But as I posted before, its all a matter of wanting heals. I know an emp will come with RA's, Fort and CM, I know a Kins will come with FC, SB, and Transf, you see where I'm going with this?. As a vereran I know what I mean when I ask for a "healer" on the team.
If you don't like being called a healer, then may I advise some serious time with a psychologist, someone is in need of a hug or a cookie. You could also of course try to define what a healer is. You could look at it as; a healer is someone who makes sure his/her team is kept "healthy", making sure everyone is safe and patched up accordingly. Either way your nitpicking something that has been encrusted into the annals of MMO's.
[/ QUOTE ]
At this point, you really should realise that 'healer' is not a useful term in this game. Plenty of support sets lack heals but can do just as much, if not more, than an Emp or Kin. -

A decent ramble, but the issue is, the game is on the RPers' side. This game focuses on the journery from 1-50 rather than endgame content, and even in that endgame content there's few raids and no race to get the best gear and loot.

That's the whole point of MMORPGs.
If your goal is that end-game content is all that's meant to be played, and early content is just filler, then using any kind of leveling mechanic is bad design. If the goal is to play and have fun with level 50 content, then you remove the levels, start everyone out with all of their abilities, and then let them play that content immediately. It's not an MMORPG though, it's just another action games.
This game doesn't concentrate on the lower levels over the higher levels. There's just about as much to do at any of the levels, with level 50 having its own assortment of missions, arcs, task forces, trials, etc.

This is one of the reasons why some people dislike the WoW model. At least in Everquest, the game was all encompassing, the grindfest that it was. WoW is just a grindfest to acheive raid and pvp content. Everything in between is just the means to get there.

And the way they expand the game, by raising the level cap, seems totally counter-intuitive and wasteful. It makes all the previous level cap's content, which would have taken months of development time and millions of dollars, all becomes obsolete.
The devs in this game seem to be trying to make content in a way in that it gets as much mileage as possible, nothing goes to waste. It doesn't always work (Shadow Shard), but I think it's a good attitude for both fun and profit.
...which leads us back to why they fight farming and PLing, because all the content they worked so hard on is getting ignored. -
Well if you consider any play from 1-40 outside of farming 'grinding', I have to agree we have a difference in perspective.

A decent ramble, but the issue is, the game is on the RPers' side. This game focuses on the journery from 1-50 rather than endgame content, and even in that endgame content there's few raids and no race to get the best gear and loot. People trying to play this game like it's Everquest are going to end up disappointed.
From the very beginning, the devs have tried to avoid the Everquest mentality, of forcing players to grind and farm to get to the level cap ASAP, to get the best gear in order to be accepted on teams, to compete for random drops. That's one of the reasons they didn't release the real numbers at first- remember, this game came out before WoW, which showed that a MMO doesn't necessarily have to be quite like that, but the devs didn't want to take chances.
The game's meant to be simple, casual, and focused on fun and community. Farming and tweaking is not only discouraged by game mechanics, but by the fact there's very little point to it- a purpled out character isn't really going to have that much a different experience from one with SOs.
That said, the whole issue was never about this kind of farming. It was about an exploit that was fixed. There's nothing more to it than that. -

Caramelldansen, accept no substitutes

And I agree on this one.
I would make zombies do it the most, though

No, THE zombie theme is Thriller. -

limiting power selections(even if they're new powers added to the game) based on origin is a bad idea. it's that simple. Every single power you could come up with could be explained to come from any origin. Origin shouldn't serve that type of function. They tried it pre-beta, and during beta, and it failed every time.
pre-beta they had a setup where Mutantas could select (example, not actual numbers) 5 powers, but only enhance them to a mid-level, and Tech could select 3 powers, and enhance them fully.
then they tried what Backfire mentioned, it too was rejected.
this game is as restrictive as it should ever be right now(and it's not at all compared to other games). Adding in content that causes more restrictions would be bad.
Edit:
Xyzyx had a great example with the witch broom flypose, I'm all for origin inspired content, as long as it's not restricted to that specific origin.

Quoted for emphasis.
The origin-themed Super Booster packs are as close to origin-based content as we're likely to get. -
I helped a newbie out today and taught him about things like respecs, travel powers and jetpacks.
-
...y'know, that actually sounds like an interesting idea.
A problem might be though is that in the current model, characters are tied to one server, which helps establish community and a character for each server.
This game's already set up to use the servers the way it does and it can't be changed, but I'd kinda like to see a server model like you suggested, as an experiment at least. -
Let's face it, nowhere else are you going to see a guy look out the window of a plane into a shark's jaw.
-
In the early builds of this game, origins had more effects- Natural gave a slight damage boost, I think Tech might have boosted resistance, and so on. But the devs realised that every Blaster would be natural, every Tank would be tech, and so on, and decided to make them the way they are now.
I wouldn't mind a few extra effects from Origins, mind you. Maybe an additional perma-temp power when you reach level 10 or so. -
I guess we already had our fill of Neo wannabes when Trenchcoats came out.
I figure Dante would be better represented by a Broadsword/Super Reflexes Scrapper anyway. (incidentally, I have one) -
The thing is, the devs and players like origins the way they are- flavours with little effect on gameplay. If they had more effect on gameplay, people would feel restricted by them.
-
Yeah, you know you're worthless when you can't make a STAR WARS game a success.

And if you have any questions you can't find answers to in the guides, you can ask us here. Trust me, we compete with each other to answer your questions faster, better and friendlier.

You can /petition the mission to get a GM to try and fix it... but since it's a failable mission, I don't know how likely they'd be to help.
If it's a story arc, you can run it again through Ouroboros, but I don't know if you get a new souvenir... -
I wanna see these damn videos already.
-
It'd make far more sense than a Fire/Fire stalker at least.
-
D'awww.
But yeah, soon as she turns 15 expect her to roll more villains. -
I imagine a Stalker would probably benefit from slows and knockdown.
-
Those MA missions might be more a quirk of the map's default enemy placements then any player choice. Would tick me off for sure.
And I think I know what you're talking about, sometimes logging back in to find myself exiting a door. It's weird. -
Hmm...
I should make a psychic Dominator in an orange cloak... -
My Natural blaster is AR/Fire.
It's amazing what you can do with a Zippo lighter. -
I think the existing ATs fit most combinations fairly well, but some of your ideas might work well for Epic ATs with a twist or two.
And I agree, the Assault/Pet idea sounds like it could be very fun. Like a cross between a Blaster and a Mastermind... it'd probably need less damage than a Blaster, depending on how powerful the pet is.
