  1. While I'm not too fond of them from an offensive stance I'm fond from a defensive stance.

    Also...Blasters shouldn't be able to solo tankers an brutes...atleast not without a long tough fight.

    And Brute vs Tanker should take awhile because they're big tough guys that wanna smash stuff...plus after awhile Fury builds up and the tanker could be toast...I guess that's how they balanced PPP powers vs APP powers
  2. What if the respawn with 1/1 was only done if your side had more pillboxes or if your side had won the last recursion?

    This would keep one side from constantly and totally dominating and atleast make them KINDA fight for control...

    But yeah I captured numerous pillboxes and wanted to have some villains try to take me out...being a bubbler I wanted to see if maybe I was "the" pillbox command setup with my extra protection...

    Unfortunately nobody could exit the base. Instead of letting the villains test themselves an the system the hero side is just crashing down upon them on test for their jollies.

    It's test and being a jerk and being a ganker and basically seiging the villain base does nothing to help TEST the zone.

    Hell do we even know if hero AVs will spawn?! Have the villains EVER had the zone?

    Could they maybe, for test, set a limit like 2 heroes for every villain or a 1-to-1 ratio or soemthing? It's impossible to test the villain saide of things with ther heroes outnumbering them 5 to 1 an blocking them in the base...

    we probably won't know about any RV bugs for a month because Villains will have to get 2x the number of 40s we currently have to stand up to the heroes...

    Oh and by the way...I'd rather be one shotted by a Stalker than get taken down to 1HP and get one shotted by a mob giving me debt....as if getting debt from PvP zones when players drop your health 90% wasn't bad enough...

    Can we PLEASE get a system with a check on damage before giving debt?! Mob does 50% damage then you get debt! See this works. It's crazy to punish me for a stalker ASing me to 1 HP....whoever asked for or implemented this musta been smokin some good stuff because all this means is uber debt griefing on squishies...

    AND While under the affects of a player stun/immob/mez/sleep/hold no debt...

    But yeah for testing purposes somebody needs to do something about RV...

    ALSO... where are the contacts that give debuff an patrol missions in RV? I couldn't find one and went to another PvP zone and they still aren't giving Patrol missions...so the 40+ heroes are SoL for that badge?? I could swear somewhere a Red said they'd place a contact in there for 40+ heroes...

    EDIT: Forgot to mention...AVs in RV...impossible. I had a Heavy. A Shivan. Control of a fully armed Pillbox...a team of 5...and a team of 8...all attacking and barely scratched the AVs...and we were concentrating fire on just Ghost Widow...14 heroes, a shivan, a heavy, a pillbox with 4 turrets, and untold number of pets and so forth mixed in with heroes...and barely scratched Ghost Widow....
  4. If not for the fact that heroes got absolutely nothing else to do in this issue I'd almost ask that RV be blocked off for a mont or two to atleast give villains a chance to get some levels.

    As it is heros just camp outside the door or at the pillboxes and they outnumber villains 5 to 1 at any given time.

    I don't see any reason for a villain with half a brain to even venture in there for another month...

    All this together means that any rewards gained by heroes will be gained without and risk since it's like rewarding them for fighting greys at the moment :-p

    I mean the pillbox turrets aren't even spawning higher than an orange boss to my lvl 40...maybe give them something similar to giant monster code so they're equal to everyone?

    It's kinda sad that my FF/Energy Defender can waltz in and own the place but my lvl 40 Ice/Cold Curroptor can't even take a single turret out.

    I guess if you never play anything but tanks an maybe scrappers you see these as holes...

    I'm mostly Defenders an Corruptors...these are pretty normal for me. Though I could swear I saw a power listing Immob Res...

    No Knockback? No problem. I PvP a fair bit nowadays and in both PvP and PvE I get hit alot since Sleet an Blizz tend to piss everything off...On my corruptor I almost never get knockback...

    I think this is the perfect set for my playstyle since I'm used to keeping a few green an breaks in my trays...

    And with the Quickness-esque power I might just be able to get by w/o Swift and Recharge enhancers in some of my powers...
  6. Sorry somewhere in the last 12 pages I completely missed the "holes" mentioned...

    Though I don't like that "they can be filled with the right pool powers" comment...makes it sound like every Elec/Elec would be gimped if certain powers weren't selected in addition to the mains.

    Makes it sound like the only "good" elec/elec is a cookie-cutter elec/elec...

    I thought it was supposed to be a vertical city? So far nothing especially vertical about it as compared to any other zone (not counting the sub-city).

    Basically after 6+ months of waiting and the last couple weeks of hype I was expecting more.

    Well those platforms along the webbing with the mobs on them then again I flew right down the middle and never had a problem, was never even attacked...

    Still kinda annoyed by unlockable contacts since they often seem to have badges that are borderline impossible to get before outleveling them...especially badges regarding Influence. If this were implemented before Prestige then I could see it but considering this games desire to get people to group and so on I don't know if making this contact utilize such an SG/VG-unfriendly badge was meant to appease the "I don't need no team, me tough" soloers or they just weren't thinking.
  8. Yeah I'd say Jacob's Ladder either needs a cost reduction a recharge increase or make the cone deeper/wider...afterall we're paying cone prices but doesn't seem like many are getting the cone...
  9. I tried on both Snakes an Rippers... The Rippers were practically doing the pottery wheel from ghost they were so close an still no damage.
  10. I believe at that start of this thread someone said there was a prestige bonus for members of the opposite side, the ones that control RV, while they control it.

    If this is the case could this particular aspect be put on hold an patched into the zone in like a month or 2? Right now heroes will rule that zone unless we delay leveling to constantly fight the losing battle nd just hope to thwart them, or we rush to 50 to combat them...and in that case we don't get to enjoy all the content.
  11. I was getting the mobs so close that even a cone should have hit more than one and still nothing (I KNEW it supposedly affected more than one person! heh I was half right atleast)

    But yeah I haven't seen any cone-ness and that's like I said with 2 almost next to each other and another pair that was congo-line style.

    Though I too already love the sets the animations for the shields look good and fit the set while not blocking the character out entirely (a first for any armor set I gotta say)

    And I like the red color.
  12. I used Jacobs ladder about 10 times with mobs in mercy and haven't seen it jump once from one to another.

    They're been at varying distances from each other one pair almost hugging each other.

    Or maybe I'm just so excited I'm thinking of another power that jumps...

    How can it be bad or otherwise and still be solid? :-) I really don't count Issue 4 an 6 as updates. Issue 6 was literally CoV. If you downloaded Issue 6 you didn't even need to install your CoV DVD. All we got in I6 was prestige/salvage and bases, none of which can be accessed w/o buying CoV (well get prestige an salvage but can't use it yourself...) And issue 4 was a costume patch wrapped in the arena which is typically dead aside from the occasional fight night and now gladiator matches with their badge connection...

    Still 4 good issues in 2 years isn't too bad. I don't think anyone is saying that they haven't done anything for us I didn't notice where Positron said they'd continue to provide free content alongside the retail box(es) though. So if you want to be doom an gloom you can assume Issue 9 will be the last free content update we ever get...

    Though I think there are some things that a retail expansion simply must have.

    -Atleast One distinct and inventive PvP zone, maybe a lowbie one for giggles...
    -One new powerset for each AT. Unique and interesting possibly with some synergy with already existing powers.
    -Atleast 2 unique zones or one new/unique zone and one revitalized zone in the case of CoH...
    -A new gameplay feature such as Skills, etc.
    -Costume parts out the wazoo for both sides.
    -Some special feature like more advanced costume customization, Power Appearance Customization, etc

    See here's the catch though. They tend to get you in a position where you almost NEED to buy them CoV is the best example with the base access deal. For SG's bases are a major symbol of pride and useful for numerous things, w/o CoV you haven't got access to that. Doing things like that is how they convince people to buy them when they're on the fence or otherwise might not.

    I'd like to think these Free Updates were only hindered by the amount of time they had to get them out the door and not their desire to save the good stuff for a box that they can charge us for or that they didn't work as hard because they were free updates...

    It was said under the last regime that you wouldn't have to unlock Epics anymore or atleast not by leveling. I dunno how Lord Positron will run things but assuming he holds that course and since he said the expansion will have an Epic AT I guess from now on we just buy ATs.

    And how they design them or choose to is a mystery. One thing about giving them their own specific powersets is that they can then balance the AT's powers and any inherents a tad bit easier.

    Why would they do that when they can use monthly fees to fund an expansion pack we have to pay 20 bucks for? They sell those and it might as well be free money. I seriously doubt they'd take much, if any, of the earnings and hire more people.

    And Posi said they'll get Issue 9 out for free in his address I believe.

    (Oh an Asheron's Call was released in 1999 though it seems like it was earlier)

    As long as these expansions aren't more than 15-20 dollars I'll be fine with them.

    I probably won't buy many of them but I'll be fine with them. I mean for crying out loud CoH an CoV are only 30 bucks each now...They can't charge more than that for an expansion...can they?

    Kidding by the way though I would like to know seriously what a retail expansion box means in regards to Updates, as in do we get them anymore once they start to release these expansion boxes with a price tag? As in content not just patches and bug fixes.

    Or will we have to pay for everything starting in 2007? And if so will they make somewhat important features (ie SG Base access) impossible w/o purchasing them?

    Just curious, honestly asking not patronizing, what was in Issue 6 that wasn't a PvP zone to bring CoH into connection with CoV? I don't remember any new powers or any of that jazz. Well prestige and Salvage, but they're only good if you have a base, and can only access a base if you own CoV....

    My only worry now is that I8 comes out probably around October at this rate...I'll be getting my 7 seasons of Macgyver around then and I'd hate for something good to come out in-game while I'm learning to make amazing devices using a turkey baster, toothpicks, chewing gum, and shoe laces...

  17. Force Bubble doesn't need changing. Heck Hurricane pushed back, knocked down, debuffed...

    Force bubble JUST holds back and the only ones not built to walk through it are almost entirely the ones that don't even NEED to walk through it in order to attack...

    Detention Field is probably the best PvP FF power solely for it's utility.

    Repulsion Field and Force bubble are only good at stopping/uncovering stalkers.

    Anyone else can either walk through it or has ranged attacks/debuffs.

    Also the shear size of FBub means you're gonna bring the wrath of a random mob or 3 if you aren't very careful.

    And F Bolt....bah, nice PvE power and ok if you aren't fighting most ay stalker, tanker, brute or scrapper or anyone with the SuperLeap/acrobatics...maybe if Force Bolt had a -Fly...like 10 seconds...

    Funny thing is FF as a primary was made worthless long ago like at launch

    However I must say Detention Field rocks in PvP...why? 3 words:

    Storm Summoning Defenders

    or more specifically one word:

    Hurricane

    Get up, Detention field the Hurricane using Defender then let teammates get those squishies that were hiding in there...

    Often people don't even notice the Defender was detentioned and even the defender might not notice your team has a good 5-10 seconds atleast before the call goes out that he's been bubbled.

    Have it 3 slotted for accuracy. In PvP PCs get a natural Def buff on top of any Def powers...atleast it seems like PCs that aren't my FF Defender do :-p with tactics and 3 ACC in Force Bolt still rarely hit same target twice. And while I'm trying to keep that Corruptor on his butt a Stalker one shots me...Trying to concentrate fire on one person in PvP isn't plausible as a squishy unless you outnumber the opposing team...especially as an MM...

    Also the detoggling on Bubble powers is hard to see. First of all many powers will recharge within the time these FF powers that detoggle them do. Not to mention that it's not a huge percentage chance of detoggling to begin with. Brawl has almost as good a chance as FB...

    Not to mention that it'll be rare you'll be fighting someone solo in PvP especially as an MM since once people see pets they immediately go for the MM...

    You've got Force Bolt...in PvP knockdown is a thing of the past especially for the folks like brutes an tanks and even scrappers an stalkers.

    Chances of hitting it twice in a row on anyting are also nil considering even blasters seem to have amazing def (yay APPs).

    Repulsion bomb. again knockdown/back. Probably not gonna affect alot of people in pvp. Also has a long enough animation to make you a sitting duck.

    Force bubble...hahahahaha yeah...who DOESN'T have atleast one ranged attack? Especially by and not long after lvl 38...Even if they don't have a ranged attack there are several powersets that allow the player to walk, albeit slowly, through a FBubble.

    As an MM you're best bet is to let your pets heal each other, use inspirations. Toss up PFF an set them to bodyguard. Maybe if you're a thug let your henchmen be bodtguards then call the posse to do the damage.
  22. Just to make a note:

    All giant monsters are cake if you have atleast 3 damage dealing ATs there.

    Took out Caleb with no one on an 8 man team goin below 2/3 health and that was with 3 melee people.

    Ghost of Scrapyard and Deathsurge have both been taken out with teams of 3 or 4.

    Only thing to worry about with them is if you're level is the same or close to the same as the little squad of MOBs that they spawn with.

    There aren't really "tactics" to beating anything in this game hehe not like Shadow of Colossus or anything where you have to use fire to light the surrounding oil to contain them so you can do X or Y :-p
