why energy melee?

[/ QUOTE ]

Hmm, well. It has very strong damage with good EPA I think. Plus it's just different to me. I really didn't want to roll DM again. It seemed the best choice from the sets I have never used before since I normally play Blueside.
2. In the spirit of going Rogue I'm asking for a bit of number crunching from you Brutish types. I do feel like this post is out of place yes, but I know many of you have experience with this and definitely know your calculators.

Here's what I am looking at and my concerns.

I tried to forego Hasten this time. I realize it could hurt my DPS but really, I think this toon would have enough. He doesn't have to have the single fastest Pylon time, just be respectable. Say under 10 minutes. Not having Hasten's crash should be very helpful to endurance as well.

The single biggest thing I don't like is Energy Transfers self damage. I believe the best attack chain here is TF>EP>ET>EP>BS>EP.
Energy Transfer does 156 points of damage to myself and is on a 7.08 timer. My regen is about 21.4hp/sec so I'll regen 151.5 hp during it's recharge.

Ya see what I'm getting at here?

My attack chain would eventually kill me. I mean, in a hundred years or so.

This is a very rough work in progress but any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Any build advice is welcome.

Thanks for looking.

7. Thanks very much Thaumator!

I will try to catch you around 11:30 but I may be leaving myslef right at that time. If I do miss you I'll try off and on throughout the day.

8. Would anyone be able to help out a new villain?

I'd like to trade about 50 million Influence Blueside for 50 million Redside.

Thanks

The problem with scrapper primaries and secondaries is that none of them suck.

[/ QUOTE ]

Heh. I giggled.
10. Ugh, sorry for the double post but I solved the tiny issue I had with the previous build I posted and wanted to share. Moving the last slot out of Weave and putting it into Combat Jumping. Slot it with an Enzyme and you make up the defense, bringing everything back to the softcap while still granting a sizable acc bonus. The only loss is 4% damage which is worth it I think.
11. Hey Silverado,

Here's a slightly modified version of my build that uses Boxing as a mule. I'm really wrestling with the idea of respeccing into this right now and would like to know what you guys think. The end result is a pretty sizable increase in Acc but that's only gonna really matter when Soul Drain misses. Still it would be nice. Other benefits are a few more HP and a very small increase in overall recovery. The only real cons are a minor drop in dam bonus of 4% and falling just shy of the softcap on AoE.

You can keep your heroic milk.

We on the Dark Side can has Grand Marnier. And Absolut. And Crown Royal, and all that kinda stuff. Bad habits, they do a body good. The occasional Assassin-Strike, well... that's just icing on the cake.

Have you ever dunked an Oreo in a glass of Absolut?

Now see? That's a pretty good analogy really.

I've just started doing exactly that! Weeeehehell, The first one was yucky sure! I spit it right out but in a way I was still sorta...intrigued.

After the tenth one? Lemme tell ya they were the best damn things I ever ate!

Are you sure? Mids only shows the defense buff starting at 1 ally in range, I've never used the power so I don't know how it works :-/

Prey is correct on Phalanx Fighting. It adds a small bonus even when no one is around.

Here's my build Silverado. Not the only way to do things but it might help you decide how you want to go.

The Freaklympics

The very first one I played years ago that made a big impact on me was Ubelman (sp?). I had just crossed over from WoW and I was so impressed with the quality of the story telling in this game.

Can anyone tell me the name of that arc?

A good portion of DM damage is smashing which, as you pointed out, is resisted 50%.

[/ QUOTE ]
Smite -> Midnight Grasp -> Smite -> Siphon Life is over 90% dark energy. Yet another thing that's so nice about that chain.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ya know, after I typed that I thought I better go back and check my facts...

/hangs head sheepishly.
16. [ QUOTE ]
Poor choice of words (curse you, english language !) : I meant I already soloed him tonight.

I didn't make a video, though. First, I did cheat by using weak lieutenants (wolves) instead of arachnos. My damage was barely above his regen and I didn't feel like trying a bunch of times, especially as I ran like a little girl everytime he hit me with his end drain attack - by the way, Shield Charge is great as an escape power.

The fight took over 50 minutes.

[/ QUOTE ]

Haha! That's awesome! The fact that you lived through multiple hits of the end attack boggles my mind. Congrats!

A tank killing Recluse! Who'd a thunk it!
17. [ QUOTE ]
He's strong. So strong that, in fact, I respeced out of Tough/Weave to pick Taunt, Maneuvers and Tactics... and I honestly can't tell the difference in survivability.

DPS is around 160-170 with maxed out AaO and SD. HP at ~3K, SL healing for almost 400 per use, DDR at 95% with 2x Active Defense slotted with HOs, Battle Agility and Grant Cover. Defense is almost as easy to softcap as on a SR scrapper, leaving plenty of room for other stuff. The survivability is so high you can often use lieutenants to fuel AaO and SD for AV fights, and damage being lower than a scrapper these lieuts will stay alive.

Which is why I'm not so happy with him. I play for half an hour, realise how much better he's than my scrapper for most things, groan and log out in disgust.

[/ QUOTE ]

He sounds awesome! Is he 50 already? and if so have you tried to solo Recluse with him yet?

I am considering moving the LotG Defense out of Combat Jumping and placing it into Active Defense

[/ QUOTE ]

My active defense doesn't accept defense sets...

edit: Reading that back to myself is rather amusing.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, sorry about that. I meant to say I would move the slot from Combat Jumping to Active Defense and use it for two Enzymes or two Membranes or a combination which is actually what I did.

Sorry for the confusion there.
19. [ QUOTE ]
On another note, my Shield/DM tanker could solo LR too.

...

While my DB/inv scrapper can't even damage him.

...

I'll spare you the whining and sigh silently.

[/ QUOTE ]

Lol I have no doubt you can do it Nihilii. I do feel like I need to reiterate though that there was a lot of luck involved with this. Essentially Recluse never lands his Channelgun attack for the entire fight. That could be repeatable but it will mean dying a lot first I think.

As for a tanker beating him? I don't know. A good portion of DM damage is smashing which, as you pointed out, is resisted 50%. Add in the lower damage base and that means a long fight. The longer the fight the more that Channelgun gets fired. Certainly you could surround yourself with batteries but they won't last the whole fight, plus, Recluse is really dangerous anyway. Look at 10:10 minutes into the fight when he gets two shots in a row. The second one poisons me. I get one Siphon Life in at exactly the last minute then the poison ticks down again and I woulda died.

On the plus side your mitigation is certainly better if you do get hit. If anyone can do it you two can. I'd love to watch that fight!

[/ QUOTE ]
I'm working on one of those. I figure it'll do enough damage for all the scrapper-type challenges, while being significantly more survivable. How's it working for you? Sounds like it's working well?

My altitis my come to an end soonish, though. I've dinged a couple fifties, and have three or four more in the forties, maybe a couple thirties, and one lowbie. Then maybe I'll finally IO a couple of them out and see what they're capable of. Mwahahahahaha. <wrings hands>

[/ QUOTE ]

I can't wait frankly! Take pictures!
20. OK, so here's my NEW question! In the following build I am considering moving the LotG Defense out of Combat Jumping and placing it into Active Defense then slotting it with two membranes. That won't make it stack permanently but it gets the single stack time to around something like 4 seconds while Hasten is up. Of course I'm a good bit off from perma hasten as well but builds are about compromises.

Would someone mind telling me what my DDR would be at? I'd really appreciate the help with the number crunching. I'm not really even sure how to figure it. Overall I'd lose some defense but still be softcapped to all positions so the only time the loss might matter would be if I was getting debbufed and this would still be a significant improvement anyway, wouldn't it?

Thanks very much if you can help.

Going Rogue

[ QUOTE ]
With the advent of switching sides will you find yourself making a brute over a scrapper?

Discuss

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, truth is I have rolled my first Redside toon ever and it's because of Going Rogue. Well, that and Bill's thread on DPS and attack chains had me really eyeballing Energy Melee.

I've always been rather envious of Brutes but I like heroes. I don't want to be a Bad Guy.

Funny thing though.

I discovered a whole new game. Will I bring this guy Blueside if I can? I'm not even positive I can say that now. Probably I will but I am having more fun with him Redside at the moment than I could ever have Blue. I know it. I've exhausted everything Blue that I want to do. I'm having the greatest time exploring all this "new" content.

Just don't tell anyone...

Did the DPS of Stone Melee lure you to the dark side?

I've read that slotting a Membrane into Active Defense will improve your defense de-buff resistance. When I tried it in game the stats monitor did not reflect any improvement. It stayed exactly the same.

Did I do something wrong? Does this actually work and if it does wouldn't an Enzyme work better?

Thanks for the help.

[/ QUOTE ]

Did you activate the power again, after you changed the slotting? Remember, it's a click, not a toggle

[/ QUOTE ]

omg...

I know that...I mean.heh. I uh...

What were we talking about again?

OH YEAH!

Like I was saying, I know that a Membrane enhances DDR if placed in Active Defense. Everyone knows that and so do I. I was just wondering though, wouldn't an Enzyme work better?
