He know that, he is asking Scrapper for help because he knows that there are a lot of Scrappers that know this stuff and he trusts them.

Hmm, well. It has very strong damage with good EPA I think. Plus it's just different to me. I really didn't want to roll DM again. It seemed the best choice from the sets I have never used before since I normally play Blueside.
Uh... brute smash?
(Seriously, that's all I know. Never calculated a thing for brutes. Just went and smashed. )

On tough, I'd drop one of the Impervium's and slot all three steadfasts. That'll give you another 22.5 HP at the loss of a bit of end.
I'd also steal a slot from lucky, slap it in health, and slot the regen tissue unique.
Other than that, if you've already determined that you have enough recharge slotted for that chain to be smooth, go for it.
Be well, people of CoH.

Oh that's ok. I know it's in the wrong forum, I'll keep working on it. 50 is a ways off.
Frankly I'm just enjoying the ride tremendously. It'll be interesting to see how I feel when it's all done.
/sigh
Well, I've already been able to make several positive changes Increasing my regen to 314% with really no downsides. That at least puts me in the positive I think. Trouble is I also nocticed I had Quickness toggled OFF.
I'll have to run the math all over again on the attack chain.
I would drop the fighting pool in favor of Hasten (and SS for zephyr's bonuses).
I have an EM/SR brute with a similar build and I have to say I was very disapointed. There are just too many AVs redside with high smashing resists, godmodes, self heals, etc (major offenders being Ms Liberty, Silver Mantis, Valkyrie, Mynx and Positron)
I'd definitely roll FM before EM

I haven't done a similar build, but if the DPE of EM is the reason you went with it and you can softcap your defenses, I definately agree that you'd likely rather have FM. It has better DPE, higher chain damage, better AoE, and is less resisted.
It'll probably be a pain until you get there, though. No mitigation sucks (my FM Brute was Stone Armor... yay for the worst secondary available until level 38!).
If the character is what you want and you like the pink pompoms, then go for it - you should do fine with the suggestions made already. I personally ended up making my SM/WP because my EM/Elec was killing herself with Energy Transfer and I spent more time using Aid Self than attacking... but that's a resistance set.
it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

I'm curious why you would drop fighting for hasten when he's got enough global recharge to run the chain he wants to run.
I'm also curious why you'd be overly concerned with smashing damage resistance on a set that has these %s of energy damage:
bar 25% energy
ep 30% energy
bs 40% energy
et 66% energy
tf 72% energy

More rech means better chain, with the big hitters recharging more often, or even dropping the lowest DPA attack (TF maybe?) for, dare I say Gloom?

That's nice and all but you go ahead and try fighting Ms Liberty on an EM/SR brute.
Seeing as you're going to use EP so much, I'd put the Hecatomb proc in it.
Good advice everyone thanks.
I'm really trying to stay away from Gloom for concept purposes though. DM would be ok I guess, then I could add Gloom as it would mate well with the primary. I'd really rather not do Fire for the same reason. I don't know, still thinking about it all.
If you enjoy the set for concept reasons then by all means go for it, I'm just chipping in with my opinion from personal experience. Maybe you can make the combo work better than I did >.<

Yeah, it's a tough call really. I do enjoy the set for concept reasons but I might actually be able to use Firey as well. Certainly he has a bit of a desert raider look to him. His backstory is very rough as it is so I'm sure I could fiddle with that a bit. Firey just seems to have a magical flare to it and this guy's obviously tech.
Stil.. I'm warming to the idea more even as I type.
Hmmmm.
Let's say we wait on concept for the moment. What's the best Attack Chain for Firey, not including Gloom and do I need Hasten to make it work?
The best is (IIRC) GFS, Incinerate, Cremate, and you need Hasten to make it work, but GFS, Incinerate, Cremate, Fire Sword is pretty close and doesn't require Hasten.

Awesome! Thanks Nihilii!
This is really looking up! I've wanted some type of Desert themed character since I first encountered the King of Cool, Scirocco!
It might not be worth using on the main build, but... Breath of Fire would be pretty cool IMHO on a Desert themed character.
Your costume is great btw, awesome design as always.
... And saying this, I realise it'd look silly for him to spit fire through his mask.

Haha wellll, I might just do it anyway. It really fits the concept very well you're right!
and guess what name I just grabbed?
Desert Son ( i.e. Desert Sun )
and that pretty much seals that deal! Firey it is!
Desert theme? implacable sun of the Sahara? intense heat? dare I say... fire!?
As for the attack chain, with some pretty intense recharge you could chain GFS -> Incinerate -> Cremate.
With lowish recharge I'd recomend Scorch/FS -> Incinerate -> Scorch/FS -> Cremate, though you might have to stick a taunt in there every two chains or so to keep them from running away from the DoTs

Gloom is ugly, breaks concept and causes cancer.

Yeah, I know it's good. If I was after the single best DPS I'd take it in a minute! The question here though isn't do I have the very best DPS? It's do I have enough DPS? and I think this guy is gonna have way more than enough.
Plus there's that cancer thing.
In the spirit of going Rogue I'm asking for a bit of number crunching from you Brutish types. I do feel like this post is out of place yes, but I know many of you have experience with this and definitely know your calculators.
Here's what I am looking at and my concerns.
I tried to forego Hasten this time. I realize it could hurt my DPS but really, I think this toon would have enough. He doesn't have to have the single fastest Pylon time, just be respectable. Say under 10 minutes. Not having Hasten's crash should be very helpful to endurance as well.
The single biggest thing I don't like is Energy Transfers self damage. I believe the best attack chain here is TF>EP>ET>EP>BS>EP.
Energy Transfer does 156 points of damage to myself and is on a 7.08 timer. My regen is about 21.4hp/sec so I'll regen 151.5 hp during it's recharge.
Ya see what I'm getting at here?
My attack chain would eventually kill me. I mean, in a hundred years or so.
This is a very rough work in progress but any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Any build advice is welcome.
Thanks for looking.
