  1. Not much for their music but their videos are pretty amazing.

These are the same guys that did that one video that was like a domino effect and done all in one take right? If so amazing stuff!
  2. The time bounces were very annoying. I was trying to finish dinner and watch so I'd walk out of the room and come back in and have no clue as to why people were where they were. Once I sat down and paid close attention I was able to follow along, but I rarely have time to do that.

I am definitely in the time traveller camp. It would make sense with the time jumping of the show. It would also tie into the look on "Dr. Weaver's" face at the end. To me she did not look surprised or scared, as the plane was wormholed out she actually looked elated. And for whatever reason it always seems to be that people from the distant future have "powers" of some sort.

Also I think the family interaction of the pilot was a bit odd. The parents sure were worried about their daughter who appeared to be a grown women with a kid of her own. Though it could have just been the acting. My thinking though is that the pilot and family are part of the time travellers or something. But that's putting a lot of forethought into very few clues.
Not sure how I feel about it at the moment. I'll give it another show or two to pick up since that was just the pilot.
  3. LOL Well I'm 6'0" and my wife's uncle is like 6'6" so he definitely has the genes....
  4. So I finally found my copy of Photoshop (YAY even though it's only CS3) and woke up early and decided to see what I could do. So here are some "colors" I laid down on Jr.'s reptile dude. I did these so feel free to critique all ya want. I know one thing is I don't really have a light source so I have no shadows and highlights really. I need to practice alot with that.

  5. Labyrinth would be a good one. Lots of right/wrong and the gray areas in between.

I'd suggest Shawshank Redemption but I'm not sure about the rating or the length....
(Oh nvm just read it's R and 142 min)
  6. Hasn't it been thirty days yet? LJ you still here?
  7. Trying to keep it more in line with a tweaked costume as opposed to a complete overhaul. I think it's a cool costume to begin with.

The state Fair is in Dallas... you're thinking the Livestock Show... I think.

I actually took the original Big Tex's(Jim Lowe) grand daughter to my senior homecoming (years and years ago).

I tried this and the cream filling literally burned my tongue. The Fried Snickers were pretty mushy. I stopped after that. I go for the rediculous food and the auto show.

Carnies are pure entertainment and the rednecks aren't as plentiful as one would imagine but call me and we can go get drunk on pasta together.

    This year's entries:
    · Deep Fried S'mores Pop-Tart
    · Fried Chocolate
    · Deep Fried Frozen Margarita
    · Fried Lemonade
    · Fernie's Fried Club Salad
    · Texas Fried Caviar
    · Fried Beer Texas
    · Fried Frito Pie
Fried Frito Pie sounds darn good I must say, so I'm going to be getting that with my Fried Beer chasers!

    Tech Talk

May get more opinions in the tech forum, though Father Xmas and BillZ have been seen here a lot lately...
  12. Yes, because nothing could be easier than making pasta, filling it with a LIQUID then frying it without losing all the LIQUID inside.... I live in Dallas and have watched interviews where the guy said he injected beer into the pasta.

Also it's more a raviolli than a gnocci as gnocci are not usually filled.

  14. Eddy I love how you always choose your colors to fit the lines instead of forcing a particular style onto them. It really showcases your coloring abilities.

These last two are good examples - Wassy lines are great and use some sharp lines, so your colors become more bold and highlight Wassy lines. Whereas your lines are softer and rounder and your lighting and color emphasize that very well. ]

Wassy I'm realling digging your sketches too. Okay dumb non-artist question... Are these pencils on paper that are scanned or just some cool PS thing? If pencils may I ask about the paper? What kind is it and why do you use it vs plain old paper. My son sketches and I'm just wondering if there is something that helps by using non-white paper.... Or am I just being dense and it's a background dropped in after the scan....

    Great work!
  15. Grats Goblin! That was a tough one for sure!
  16. I run Ultra Mode and have to say I don't like that some of my costume pieces are shiny and reflective and some aren't. But at the same time, I really wish I could choose which to have. I personally don't like the new metallic skin. When I choose colors for it they are distorted in the costume creator by lighting that I'm not even seeing on screen. And why can't I have a matte finish?

So personally I'd rather have a big list of options than just one or the other. So if I'm reading right I'd fall into Option 2. BUT that doesn't mean I don't think a majority of the old pieces need an updated texture file. I just think we should get to choose. I see Noble/David's point of wanting uniformity but that's about 3 years too late. We haven't had uniformity since they started adding new costumes with better textures.

Either way, good luck! It sounds like a large amount of work to make the majority happy.
  17. Heck Bully could use some hot ribbon shots too:
  18. WOw I really like this last one! Very cool! I love the way you drew the horn-hawk.

Also I totally understand getting distracted by Peanut Butter! I think it rocks too!
  19. Spacenut, I'm really sorry to hear this news. There really isn't anything I can say to make this easier, but know my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family!
  20. I too felt the ending was rushed after King's accident. I remember reading at one point that he felt the story of Roland would outlive him and he hoped one of his sons would pick it up and carry it on. I personally always hung on that notion. The whole point of the book to me was a way for King to bring together all the worlds he had created in his other books. I know there are still books never touched on in the Dark Tower series.

I'm interested to see how this movie/TV adaptation progresses. I was very impressed with the graphic novel adaptation. Plus the art was great. But it will always be interesting to see who they cast as Roland because he is supposed to be a cross of John Wayne and King himself (If I remember correctly but seeing as it's been a few years I could be wrong). That should make for one rough looking lead character. LOL

If anyone can make this happen I think it's Ron Howard. He's done some truly amazing things in the world of film. It would be nice for him to return to TV with something just as great!

    Capt America Pic

I want that Hydra car and Cap's bike!

Also that is a stuntman version of the costume. Do you really think Hollywood is going to allow the ladies not to have Chris Evans in a super tight suit? How are they going to get them in the theatres? ;-P
  22. The problem I have with the image is that I always felt like even though Emma isn't a giant of a woman that when she was around she should "feel" imposing. This just makes me think a little girl got lost in war torn Russia.... WTH? I don't htink I'd be intimidated by this woman at all. She seems too frail and thin....
  23. For me it's not just the CASH prize possibility as it is the prize in general. I really only come to this section for the arts and usually cool attitudes, not the drama. If you don't think adding tangible prizes will cause added drama then I don't know that I could say anything to change your mind. Personally I think it will. I haven't watched enough of the prize giving "contests" on DA to be a judge. But I have been witness to enough people in this world to know it is a high possibility.

I know Caem's intention with the prize is more than likely thought of as a "thank you for joining" type prize and appreciate the sentiment. But if what we/you are looking for is bringing people together to showcase art of a semilar theme why does there NEED to be a prize?

I think I'm rambling now and in the end have no bearing on this as I don't have art to contribute so I'm probably done with this now. Contest on, Garth!
  24. I have to say Durakken that I sympathize with your issue but the bottom line is, what ARE you willing to change in order to make your weightloss happen? I've read most of this thread and even the things you've thrown out as possibilities, you've dismissed within a post or two.

Everyone here has given you suggestions. Pick a couple and see what works for you. Period. I'm overweight. It's been getting worse for a couple years. I have gout and severe knee pain. I realized that I was using those things as reasons not to do something about my weight, when I REALLY should have been using them as reasons TO do something about it. The knee problems and gout are symptoms of my weight gain, NOT the other way around.

In the end you should have more control over your life than you think you do. I don't know all your issues but I can tell you my wife is 34 and was diagnosed with MS about 2 years ago. It hit her extremely hard and extremely fast and she was ready to give up. But between my son and me we refuse to let her do that. Personally I'm more of a self motivator than someone who needs people around me to push me. My wife isn't, she needs the encouragement. If that's what you need then you need to look to friends, family, possibly even a support group. But if you are just going to poopoo their ideas and help then there's not much anyone can do.

I will tell you like I tell my son all the time - You have to live your life for you, not anyone else. In the end you have to answer for your actions and no one else's. I(we in this instance) cannot do this for you, so you have to motivate yourself and want to do this in order for it to happen. It isn't going to be easy, but look around you, very little is in this world. Suck it up and pump yourself up.

I wish you good luck. I myself just joined a gym last night with my son. I don't want to be the out of shape dad anymore. I want to be there when my son has kids. I want to play with those kids, not sit on the couch and watch them play.
