    Spines/Elec Help

    I have a 29 so its far from finished, but this is also my 4th spiner The way I see it is both damage auras strike for 50 hp every 2 seconds to all in group...that to me seems to be a signature spine move (the auras). My personal opinion is if you are going to get a spiner, then play it for what it is...a kill all toon..taking spines without the Auras seems to be a lot of damage you are missing out on..Now like the one man said, sure you can do without it, but its much more than killing a sliver of health..especially when that sliver of health determines if you live or faceplant..

I've avoided it completely till recently because I've never really had time to deal with it and it simply didn't appeal to me. I have always gotten by just fine with SOs, since I mainly PvE anyway. I've been playing more and for longer periods recently though, so I'm trying the market out. I've sold a few recipes and salvage as practice. Not excited about the buying process. I've heard that I16 may balance the market prices, so I'm gonna wait till then before I consider buying. Well, that and I need to level up a lot to earn some influence. And there I go off topic and rambling. Sorry. Thanks for the replies.
    Well I will speak on what you mentioned and what I have. I have a Spines/Regen, Very capable of handling is home under most circumstances. A few things. SO's lets say a lv 50 Dam (42.4% IO) (38.8 SO). Just as an example but regular SO's or say level 53's since I assume you put in +3's for those still you will be good to go. Now the thing that I like about IO's is I throw them in at 32 for all that I can and added them swap out my SO's at 37 for later powers, 42, etc etc...that way I always keep my bonus without changing enhances every few levels, less time slotting and combining if you do that as well *shakes fist* but yea man, if you PVE you are all set. To be honest the only time I ever really felt vurnelable is in RV or etc..or soloing an 8 spawned Invince Freak map. But another thing is if you like resis based toons, you can get some pretty nice numbers out of the Regen with bonuses on S/L and Fire cold at least and things like Tough help I have not personally built my Regen for Res, but its not bad as far as it goes Some actual real Def as well past the teens which is not bad for a toon that comes with none and mind you not specifically slotted for that. I focused on Regen, Rec, and Rech...But If you are really interested man PM me I will show you a build and if you have a toon on Liberty can show you in real time!     Regen Scrapper

    Man, I have a very extensive build for my Regen, Completely custom all the way down to 2 sets in one power if I wanted the bonus. Not one single purp, and sure I could of afforded them but they have a lot of bonuses that I wasnt going for like the 15% acc etc...But I made it with no purps and I'm pretty nasty I wont lie lol...It could be a bit better but thats a given. Without looking at specific bonuses the only time or reason I would put purps in I think would be to get the Rech bonuses, anything else is just like eh...but man those rechs are a regen! amazing. But I also accomplished very very nice times with just useing rares. cheers
  5. Well an avid fan of WP and Regen I will say either of those two. SR is good too but I won't touch on that. Both my 50 Regen and WP have ups and downs (if you even wanna call it downs, I call it more like differences) that make them good. PvE well both are fine. My WP is about 60% fitted out with what I want and stands up just fine in the Def and Res categories. Plus at 2200 hp constant hes very survivalibity (Mids built of course) My Regen sits at 2400 hp and has less Def and Res but heals incredibly fast. (700 hp from Recon about every 15 seconds) Perma DP (1100 hp initial, 800 Hp rise) Plus with the Regen without IH is about 80 hpsec at all times (pretty sweet!) and then 180 or so hp/sec with IH (2 min downtime, roughly) So thats good. Only time I ever have trouble with groups is a +3 herd capped group (16-17 baddies, 2 bosses or getting the Alpha) but that is easily managable with a quick MoG or something of that nature to handle it. Perhaps Run in with DP on, or hit DP and Recon, etc etc...Just the only thing with Regen is its real clicky, requirs a lot of action, and you can sometimes find yourself without a heal for a few when you need it so plan accordingly. Secondly I noticed when I played my DB to about 35 that he was faily end heavy (at least to exectue your combo string) and Stam and QR are very essential to the build.

    Theres my two cents and could offer more but just some quick tips. Good luck with DB.
  6. lol. I just dont see the point in excluding play of a PS like spines based on the look. You guys have been missing out. But I admit I will be making another (my 4th). just because of the new look. Welcome to the spiner family though everyone else. you shall not be disapointed if built right.
  7. Yep, I focused on it last tbh. I think mine is around 17% overall but some of my bonuses focus on Dam as well to kill kill kill..I have came to the conclusion though with all these new changes and etc that I am not going to fit my regen anymore than he already is. I been focusing on my WP build that is about 50% finished. He will by far surpass the regen in "tank"ability. But honestly its only on the long run. I can manage to handle groups with no real problems untill I burn all my heals and am forced to go with EotM or something like that...nonetheless...cheers.
  8. End heavy, plus as we all know it is not putting up Tank numbers. Seen a few around, but it is definitely not that common.

    I take it you haven't dueled a Pain Dom then? I rolled my spiner/regen against one (thugs) and even his fully spawned cronies couldn't really get past my perma DP and IH..and of course Mog and Recon in between IH's downtime..nonetheless...you wanna make sure you can sustain those blows from people when they decide to gank you 5 on 1...there isn't much out there that can put out enough dps to kill me and thats not being cocky, thats being smart with the way you use the heals on a regen...and San I wasn't coming at ya in a bad way, just dropping some insight.

    Anyway just to add, I focused on Regen>Recharge>Recover>Defense and it suits me just fine, you are never going to get WP numbers with a regen but honestly should you? You whole stigma is Regen to heal faster than you are damaged, so of course defense works well in there, but you shouldn't be wasting slots (excuse me sparing) on something that you are not physically blessed with. With 2409 HP healing at 177 hp/sec you are not gonna find to much that you cannot handle, of course that is pve..pvp whole diff monster...but just some of my opinion in it..All numbers mind you can be obtained without one single purple...*ahem* IE me toon. I like a challenge.
  10. Play a 50 Spines/Dark 50 Spines/Regen 50 Spines/WP 50 Spines/fire and will be the new Spines/elec

    Dark is absolutely a fun one to play once you iron out some of the end issues, but to me personally its not that hard to do if you slot GENERALLY in the vicinity of twice rec for end use..with conserve and stuff in addition you will not see too too much downtime...I love all the spiners and for laughs I made a thorn PC Dom the other day, just to feel at home...congrats on running a not so popular build...not to say people dont like it, they just get scared, untill they see what can be done lol...cheers.

    hurtin, yea i mean its a split second im stunned for which isnt anything but still its the point not like it really matters though the first 10 minute round I killed him because he said somtihng about his pets, the second time someone jumped in and helped him attack me and I died. I didnt feel like going round 3 but will be tonite..already been going through mids to get a little more dam on my attacks, but I feel more than confident that I could beat him after a pretty tedious battle haha my slows should be enough eventully to get to be able to damage him after knockin out lowbie pets

    Hola,

    So yea, I was going at it last nite with a thugs/paindom MM...I was on my Spine/regen...very long and tedious fighting..coulda prolly kept at it for well over 20 minutes...nonetheless I don't pvp that much even though I feel like i can hold my own just fine. I just found out that resilence doesnt give me my stun protec in there, so is there one of those new sets that offer actual protection? I mean im at like 35% res but meh, thats not good enough for what I am used to...or a proc? Any ideas cuz all he has to do is hand clap and it knocks quills off, annoying when Im tryin to kill his whole squad to keep having to turn it on..thanks in advance.

    Every 10 seconds the power does a check. That is saying that every 10 seconds you have a 20% chance of gaining an extra 10 end, this will not show up in Mids as a bonus, but you can review your combat log to show when you get it.

    Very much so. I would also just like to add its what you specifically get out of it as well. Most people here can give you a standard build to do a specific thing, but that may be what they like to do. Go out and experiment a little bit. It is the only way you find out what you like. It took me almost 4 years to make a tank because it just wasn't my thing, looking back though its very fun. See what you can do, good luck and stay with us.

  17. Sup friends! Some of you may know me, some not, but I been away for a long time and before I left I started this little all spines events that I do. Some can vouch, Jam, Velk, Tene, but I would like to get more attention to this so if you have a spiner and this sounds like something you might be interested in, then post up! They are very fun and there is something about having 8 quills running that just sets the mood. So once I see some peoples reactions we can start to set these up! that is all, take care.

    Have you pondered merits? I try to specifically get these rares with Merits rather than pay that 100+ mill for them. But lets talk about how YOU play. What percentage of the time would you say translates into down time from not having end? Because basiclly what you want it is a defensive toon, that doesn't have end issues yes?     Yea good call on the slotting for not needing it. Combined with your attacks you just need to more. I would set a goal to get that Rec up a point, then it wouldn't be as noticable for sure. But again, this can turn out to be very expensive with things like the LotG set and Miracles and the ones that have the Rec bonuses. Even dropping some of the use would be nice. My personal rule of thumb is have double or more Rec than use at all times.

    Hi SoulScorch!

    At times you are going to notice to be a little light on End. Thats just the way it is. There is a reason why they put consume in the build. It is not needed (depending on aggressive of a player you are) but it is good to have. About dropping Manuvers to get it? Well I would but thats me. I would also take my Miracle out of RotP because you are not getting the full potential out of it being there. Could also get that with another and add you some end (1.5 I believe) I don't have mids up or anything to look really into it but thats what I picked up. I am positive with a little tweaking you can make up for that 3.75 somewhere. If we were talking about more than 10% somewhere I may be a little more hesitant but, would you rather get missed a small percentage or slot out so you can always kill kill kill.?!

    But as far as Def goes, well even Fire Tanks have issues jumping face first into a crowd bud, thats just the way it is. You may spend a lot more than you want before you get him Very capable of defending yourself. On another hand, you can always jump in and do damage. For this build a nice balance of Def of Ranged and Melee is in order. What do you do more? You facing Demons? Ranged, Freaks, both, I mean its really your choice as far as if you do just PvE a lot or real Dam specific baddies. Either way. You have some SoulSearching to do ;

    Edit: What is your max hp at?

    Just noticed you had the Steadfast in there or I would of recommended it

    I have a feeling that in order to get something great, were gonna have to give up something great.

    For now I will stick FA...I just haven't had a need for any other Epic other than maybe the TD, but mehh..not gonna burn another power to get it.

    And the string for the Spines in the post above is sweet, too bad I don't have those 4 to burn either lol.
