Quote:As I understand it, each SSA has its own timer.1. Is the same cool down counter used for both SSA 1 and SSA2, or is it possible to get to hero merit rewards for doing one arc in each SSA once a week?
Quote:2. Does the 'first time' playing the arc count for both hero and villain side when you have played one of them. E.g can you get 8 + 1 merits doing villain side and then switch side and re-enforce the hero alignment (takes 6 days i think) and then do the SSA arc on heroside getting 8 + 1 merits? Making it 18 merits in 6 days. -
Quote:Well, yay. Not that it matters for The Really Hard Way, but still. All players in the Tyrant fight in Magisterium will now properly receive their temporary level shifts for each Light of the Well destroyed.
This week I'm planning on trying for The Really Hard Way from the start. I'm planning 2-3 runs:- Triple Threat + practice
- The Really Hard Way
- Ready to Rumble, if we didn't get it during the previous attempt (time and interest permitting)
Requirements and other considerations:- Must be 50+3 and have completed the trial.
- Must have Hybrid unlocked and slotted. If you're close enough that you expect to get it unlocked during the first run (say 80% or more) and have an ability ready to go, that's fine.
- Must have six Ultimate inspirations*. For the rest of your inspiration slots, have reds and/or greens.
- Preferred Incarnate abilities; if you can switch to one of these, please do:
- Alpha and Judgement: Any.
- Interface: Any with damage procs (Cognitive, Degenerative, Preemptive, Reactive, or Spectral).
- Destiny: Barrier, Rebirth; Ageless.
- Lore: Cimerorans, WarWorks, Phantoms, IDF. Higher DPS is better. Core path preferred.
- Hybrid: Assault, Support.
This will be Sunday, July 1. I'll start forming in Pocket D at 3:00 PM EDT and launch when we fill. I'll hold reserved spots until 3:30 EDT.
* Ultimates can be purchased from WW/BM, or for 2 Astral Merits from Astral Christy in Ouroboros. -
Quote:That's what I'm planning.Yes, thanks for the run. I'll also be up for the next one. Will it be this Sunday at the same time?
Quote:For the Really Hard Way, I think it really needs to be planned out in advance and limited to veteran players. Although we got 3 badges yesterday (and almost got the 4th for Master of), it was clear that some in the league had never completed a Magi before.
Quote:But overall VERY successful! Thanks again! -
Ah, that explains it. Thanks.
-
I'm counting that as a win.
First run, Pendragon popped his shield at JUST the wrong time so we missed out on Triple Threat. And going for The Hard Way like a normal run only hyper-efficient didn't work out.
Second run, we nailed Ready to Rumble with 30 seconds to spare. (And that's with me crashing while fighting the IDF in the beginning). And I still think we should have had The Hard Way; someone hit a light at the start of the fight, but I'm pretty sure we only hit 5 the first time.
Third run we tried for The Really Hard Way; it didn't work out, but we managed to salvage The Hard Way out of it.
Oh, and we got Shadow Master all three times.
So to recap: 3x Shadow Master, 1x Ready to Rumble, 1x The Hard Way, very close to Triple Threat and a second Hard Way.
And, for future reference:
• The most important thing for The Really Hard Way is keeping up damage through the Zeus Lightning. Gather on Tyrant between Lightnings, back away when the air crackles around him (big red warning, plus people shouting in league chat), make sure the area around Tyrant is clear of lightning, move back in, rinse/repeat.
• When you're planning to ignore the lights at the start, if you have any thoughts of picking them up midtrial (even as a contingency plan), it's particularly important to assign people to the lights so that you're not hoping the right number of people will hit the lights. I didn't do this, I'll know better for next week.
• Lore pets persist through a crash.
Thanks to everybody who came out and grats on badges. Planning to go again next week, samish time and place. I'll get a thread up by Tuesday. Hopefully they'll have the Light/level shift bug fixed by then – I can't imagine why they wouldn't, but that's what I said last week, too. -
Logging in and heading to Pocket D to start forming.
-
This is tomorrow. Again, I'll be in Pocket D at about 3:00 PM EDT to start forming, and hold spots until 3:30. Right now there's about 10 spots open, so there's plenty of room for last-minute signups and/or people to show up in Pocket D.
See you all then. -
3 very smooth runs with no problems. Got Not on My Watch twice over, plus all the badges we were going for. Great job, everyone. And, of course, thanks to Amy for organizing and leading.

Quote:Ultimates are available from WW; I've seen them going for 7.5 - 15 million (when I checked before work, they were ~9 million). Also, one of the reward options for Incarnate story arcs (Dark Astoria and Belladona Vetrano) is a random chance between 2 Astrals and 1 Empyrean. (I got the Ultimates I needed for last week's RHW run by running Heather Townshend's arc across a few characters and selecting that reward; I was fortunate enough to get Astrals each time.)I would like to join with my main, fiery phoenix, granted I can get enough astrals for the ultimates in a day. Are they available on the market?
However, even if you don't get Ultimates, come anyway; Ultimates aren't needed for either of the planned runs only if we do end up trying for The Really Hard Way. And in that case, we'll have some merits from the first couple runs to buy a few Ultimates, and I'll have a few extras I could give someone who needs them (and there might be others with extras, but no promises there). -
Assuming I'm around (looks likely as of now), I'll be willing to help out. I don't need the badges for either, so will bow out to make room for those who do.
-
Quote:Unless we go for Really Hard Way (not planned but that could change), no, you won't need Ultimates. However:Should we load up on Ultimate inspirations like in Amy's run? Or anything else?
• If I start thinking of trying for RHW, the more Ultimates the league has access to, the more likely I'd be to do it.
• If we go for RHW, I'd require everyone to have Ultimates, so if you'd like to try, bring them or hope for generous leaguemates with extras. (If all goes well, we'll get 5+ Astrals and 3 Empyreans, so you could pop to Ouro and buy at least 4.)
• If you have them and we don't do RHW, they won't go bad before the next time somebody tries
Otherwise, as to what else to consider bringing: greens and/or reds, self-rezzes*, Barrier/Rebirth Destiny, high-DPS Lore pets, damage-proc Interface. I'm not looking to require any or all of that, but it will certainly help.
* Going to the hospital carries no explicit penalty, but if you can rez and be back in the fight quicker, that's better. -

The Dagger of Jocas and Quills of Jocas come up in a Maria Jenkins mission with Black Swan:

I assume that's how she made the Shadow World, which resembles the Shadow Shard that the Midnight Squad made with the Dagger. -
The patch for the level shifts from the Lights in the final battle is on beta as of last Thursday, so I'm hoping it'll work its way to the live servers this week. Even if it doesn't, I think we can pull it off.
I'm planning to do two runs:
First: Triple Threat + The Hard Way
Second: Ready to Rumble
I've never seen a league allow Black Swan to have four open Shadow Rifts, let alone six, so I'm going to assume we'll get Shadow Master both times. (And I figure most people will have it anyway.) More runs may be added as necessary, time and interest permitting.
I'm not planning on trying for The Really Hard Way this week, but I could be persuaded to go for it after the other badges are done.
Requirements:
All participants must be 50+3 and have experience with the Tyrant fight in the trial.
If we do The Really Hard Way, all participants for that run must also have a Hybrid ability equipped and have six Ultimate inspirations (available for two Astral Merits each from Astral Christy in Ouroboros).
Sign up below if you're interested, or send me a tell or e-mail in-game. If you already have the badges (or don't care about them), please let me know so I can give priority to those who need/want them.
This will be Sunday, June 24. I'll start forming in Pocket D at 3:00 PM EDT and launch when we fill. I'll hold reserved spots until 3:30 EDT. -
The Really Hard Way, Embodiment of Law (autocomplete, will do it for real if it ever gets fixed), and Master of Magisterium push me to 1380 and done again until it's time to go to the movies.
Edit: Since it hasn't been that long, I'm just editing this post. 1390 with movie event. Ninja Monkey and Perfect Grifter/Roleplayer were all gotten on the final run. -
First run on Champion complete. Got Ready to Rumble alongside it, then picked up Triple Threat (and a redundant The Hard Way) the next run.
Amygdala (Leader)
Artic Keeper
Bimbo
Black Tabby
Blinde Fury
Cobalt Arthurean
Doc Blast
Dreameater
Focused Psyche

Neuronia
Placta
Queen Frosteen
Soulstruck

Grats, all. -
We got The Hard Way on the Triple Threat run with no special effort. And with a third of the league not getting level shifts because of the bug.
Like I said in league chat, thanks, everyone, for being awesome. And grats on the badges.
And of course, thanks to Amy for organizing. -
Quote:Well, compare it to:No for me and for my character would behave the same as Goku and Vegeta did in DBZ. Goku let Frieza fight at full strength to show he was better. Likewise, Vegeta could of beaten Cell but wanted to fight his ultimate form (which got Vegeta beaten) to prove his might.
- Fighting eight clones of yourself at once, rather than just the one required to prove the process works. (Army of Me)
- Letting Marauder rage as reinforcements pile in, and beating him (Lambda Looter/Antacid/Well Stocked)
- Letting Anti-Matter regenerate to full health, and beating him (Loves a Challenge, if you don't die in the process)
- Fighting armies while refusing backup (Knows No Fear and Lone Wolf, possible to "cheat" by getting a team to be your backup)
- Letting Diabolique make the Sentinel as strong as possible, and defeating it anyway (Sentinel Smasher)
- Letting Diabolique keep draining powers from the two heroes she still had the entire time you're defeating her (Sacrificial Lamb)
This isn't the first time there's been an "easy" way to do something, and a badge for doing it the hard way. The only difference is this time the devs weren't sure the hard way was possible, so it's a separate badge from Master of Magisterium.
As for lore and history, all that needs to be recorded are the basics: That Cole nuked the Magisterium, drew power from the souls of the dead, got even more power from the Well, and was abandoned by the Well when his enemies were able to overcome him anyway. -
-
So with Anti-Matter and Dominatrix, we're back to that, now?

Quote:Cimerorans it is (for me), then. With that in mind, there's no real reason to use Longbow pets over any other pets. If you've already crafted them, hang onto them. If you are choosing between Longbow and pets with higher DPS, go with the higher DPS pets.
Regarding Destiny, I'm leaning toward Barrier Radial, although I'm beginning to think it's a good idea for one or two people to use Clarion as defense against Tyrant's knockback and stuns. (Granted, we'll have several Barriers and Support hybrids stacking +def, so they'd have to hit, but just in case...) That said, I'm willing and able to craft a new Destiny, so, again, just let me know. -
Quote:I've tried it. No noticeable difference, and I still can't finish the mission, even sticking to single-target attacks.I was wondering if dropping graphics setting to something like "stick figure" quality (you get my meaning) would do it. I don't have the best card out there. Actually it's the one Posi suggested way back to get "just" enough of the ultra effects.
Has anybody tried that?
I'll try it after I get back this evening.
At this point, I'm waiting to see if the next patch has anything for this issue. If not, autocomplete it is. -

============
Right now my Lore and Destiny abilities aren't on the preferred list (Storm Elementals and Clarion). I have more than enough salvage to craft new abilities for both, so just let me know what we need more of and I'll make it.
