That we can only speculate on. What we do know is that Dr. Aeon was hired on specifically to be the AE guy, so having him working on AE is not redirecting developers.
That doesn't address all the time, effort and money spent during development and implementation of AE. Is Dr. Aeon a programmer? Is he the only person involved in making changes to game mechanics, like the recent XP nerf in AE? Further, I assume Dr. Aeon requires a salary & benefits, therefore continues to siphon off potential resources that could be redirected to other projects.

What about the GM team responding to petitions about farm missions in the AE? (If they even bother anymore, which is a completely separate issue.) This takes time away from responding to other player problems.

Everything screws up the market. Arcane salvage was heavily hit back when ITF was shiny--but we shouldn't start giving dirty looks to it just because that happened.
ITF wasn't taking players from zero influence to the influence cap in a weekend either. And, yes, I'm aware that there are many other factors that affect the market, and that the rampant inflation is not only related to AE. However, AE is one of the largest contributing factors, in my opinion.

They've been doing that since the days of PI and Television. Again this is not exclusive to MA, the only thing here that some people need to realise is the difference between farming and exploiting.
Again, it's a matter of degrees. There has always been some conflict between farmers, powergamers, RP'ers, and the mythical casual player. None of it has reached the level of divisiveness that the AE system engendered between players. Go back and read some of the old threads from around issue 14. At least those that didn't get deleted by the forum mods.

MA is and always should be an alternative leveling path for the players. This was how it was given, and it has been player enforced by the plethora of pre-20 arcs that players have made to get away from the same old grind.
Oh, I've played plenty of arcs that were quite enjoyable. Unfortunately, that enjoyment pales in significance to all the negative effects AE has had on the game overall.

Close, but not quite accurate. It's actually 3 levels below the level of the enhancements, not 5.

I suspect that is more because other developers realized the huge problems inherent in allowing players to create custom content with rewards attached, and thought better about the idea.
  6. I've come to the conclusion that AE has been the single worst concept ever implemented by the dev team. It has done nothing but allow rampant & continued exploits, drained development time & resources away from other projects, seriously screwed up the market, and driven a major wedge between players over the farming issue. Unfortunately, the genie can't be put back in the bottle, and we're going to be forced to deal with it for the remainder of the game.

It really depends on whats going on.
This is absolutely true. Protector has a very active and tight-knit community. And to be honest, outside of Freedom & Virtue, the population difference between the rest of the servers is negligible. They are all about the same. The difference really comes down to what kind of community each server has.

Every time I read a post on the forum by someone complaining about 'dead' servers, I always shake my head. I can't recall a time where I wasn't able to find something to do on Protector.
  9. You can also try talking to any contacts that you have outleveled that are still showing in your active contact list. They should introduce you to a new contact when you talk to them, then move to your inactive contact list.

  12. Welcome to the game! If you're on Protector, then I suggest you join our global TF/SF & badging channels: Protector Watch and Protector TFs. We also have a global channel for new players to ask questions, get guidance, etc., which is N P C(spaces included).

You can do so simply by typing in the following command:

    /chan_join channelname

Feel free to look me up in-game. My global is the same as my forum name.

Yes, they can. As has been REPEATEDLY pointed out to you in this thread. The fact that you continue to ignore what other people say doesn't make your belief true.

Claiming that the scrapper could use a bunch of inspirations or use a temp power ranged attack instead of his or her primary .... well, I think that makes my point for me
No, it doesn't make your point for you. You're just making yourself look silly now. Inspirations are designed to be used by players to overcome difficult situations. Other options have been pointed out to you as well, that you conveniently choose to ignore. Apparently, anything that involves more effort than blindly charging into a fight and mashing the same buttons over and over is just too complex for you, and therefore 'broken'.

I'm done here. All I can say at this point, is I'm glad you're not on my server. I wouldn't want a player like you on any TF or SF I was involved with.

  16. Heraclea: Just to further drive home the point, let me direct you to Protector's regular MoSTF forum thread here. You'll see that scrappers are not that rare on successful MoSTF runs.

I want to specifically direct your attention to this post here. I'll quote the relevant part:

    Quote:
The turnout for last Thursday’s run showed up early again. We had an abundance of scrappers and regulars. Since almost everyone had run before we decided to have some fun with the team composition. We ran with 2 fire/shield scrappers, a katana/fire scrapper, a peacebringer, emp/rad/sonic defenders and a granite tank. The least experienced (as far as running STF) was the granite tank having run STF once or twice long ago.

This was one of the rare times I copied the chat log and a couple of things stand out. First of all, that Impyre sure does worry a lot and secondly Scorpion was pulled while the Flier was overhead and Mako didn’t follow. Against Ghost Widow we didn’t have any of the scrappers sit out the fight. Stone Palace focused on taunting from range and both shield scrappers fought without Against All Odds. There were several occasions when I think a Soul Storm could have caught multiple scrappers had it been used but we were lucky enough to avoid any mishaps.

Congrats to Burning Prey, Scrappy Shields, Waker., Hazel the Hare on earning the MSTF badge.

Then you're not paying any attention to the responses in this thread. Several valid suggestions have been pointed out for scrappers specific to the GW encounter.

*Your least favorite: Scrapper attacks from range. Depending on powerset, vet powers, temp powers, and APP's, Scrappers can have a number of ranged attacks at their disposal.
*GW is immobilized, tanker taunts from range keeping agro, scrappers attack from behind GW.
*Buff the scrapper's defense for that encounter, either by popping inspirations, or team buffs (Maneuvers, Forcefields, Cold Domination, etc.)

None of those involve standing there, twiddling your thumbs and not contributing to the team, as you like to portray.

There's not any reason to get overly concerned about this one encounter, unless it's a MoSTF run. In that case, a bit more caution might be in order.
  18. I have teamed with a player on Protector that claimed she was in her 70's..

The Tower is pretty much guaranteed to get a single tick off when it first becomes uncaged since you can't recage something until cage drops.

Don't get me wrong, it's very useful and I love doing it on my Sonic - but it's not a 100% lockdown.
Good point.. Thanks for bringing that up.

Honest question, Heraclea.... you really just miss the days of herding entire maps into dumpsters, don't you?
This. Especially solo, scrappers and tanks are easy mode. I actually love it when I find something that really does present a challenge to my scrappers. The first time I was defeated by 2 Carnie Master Illusionists and a DRM after jumping into a x8 spawn on my Fire/Shield scrapper, I thought it was freakin' awesome.
  23. Don't forget that if a bubbler is along for the ride, they can use Detention Field (provided they were smart enough to take it) to keep one of the towers neutralized while the team works on the others.
