There is alaready a discussion thread for CO in the off topic forum.
  2. CO was going to be CoX2 before it became MUO.

I liked it - I would rather do anything than re-run the age-old valentines event

    [/ QUOTE ]

The trade off isn't beween the old valantine event and a new valantine event though.

The current valantine event is made, it requires no resources to activate.

The trade off is beween a new valantine event and a new other event (such as the time capsule opening) or new missions/TFs.

Could you give Pets Afraid resistance?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, but thet would make them immune to all fear effects.

    [ QUOTE ]
Other than Caltrops and burny patches I don't think I've ever seen anyone use an Afraid mez on pets anyway

Actually why don't pets also flee your Caltrops / Hotfeet / Rain of Stuff powers?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The burn patch is a pet spawned by a pet though*, which makes it work more like procs do.

*there are actually 3 pets involved in Oil Slick. the first pet has the KD and -def effects, the second pet is the player targetable canister, which should summon the third pet, the burn patch, when destroyed, which is where the power tends to go pear shaped.
  5. Have an event that have nothing whatsoever to do with St. Valantine.

It's old. However you dress up hearts and flowers, it's still hearts and flowers.

Lots of good event suggestions around the forums.

    Like this.

    More here.

All they need to do is remove the fear code from Henchmen and Player Pets.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The fear code isn't in the pets, it's in the power.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
I wondered why the devs did the changes to the Xmas event this year.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I expect it was used as a proving ground for new ideas. the valantine event was used to prove co-op missions, Winters Gift was used to prove alternative methods for gaining recipes. The new ski slope was probably done by one of the new staff as an apprentice piece.
  8. Sorry, but I think this is pretty lame*, there is enough surreal nonsense in the game already. making it official would make it lamer. If it was in the MA at least I could more easily give it a miss.

*I realse this is enterly a matter of taste.
  9. Yeah, it depends on what you pair it with. I'm barely really aware of the issue on my Ill/TA, since PA are immune and the phant hangs back anyway.

It's caused by the code that supposed to make mobs run away from the fire also affecting pets. (many procs also affect pets when they originate from a pet emitter). Removing the fear code would probably make the slick to powerful, since mobs would just stand there and burn to death.

    Psionic melee

    [ QUOTE ]
I like it if one of the options could be just glowing fists that would be even better

    [/ QUOTE ]

Problem is, whatever weapon you used, the animations would have to be the same. Which basically would limit it to swingy weapons.

*It's probably worth noting that I think it's quite important that the set should not be 100% psi damage, since quite a few mobs (robots, undead) have very high psi resistance.

I wonder when i14 will come out. Apparently i15 is due late in April (on the 5th anniversary) so that leaves very little time to knock out i14.

Maybe 15 will be postponed from the anniversary date itself?

    [/ QUOTE ]

My feeling is that issue 15 will actually go live in May, but there will be a month long world event leading up to it.

There is plenty of time to get issue 15 done though , since it was previously issue 14. They split into 2 teams, and work 2 issues ahead, so work for 15 would have started when issue 12 was signed off.

    As for issue 14:

Just a heads up that we are going into closed beta soon... you all know what that means.

  12. /stuck has always been in the game.

It doesn't always work, and new players don't always know about it. Same goes for the prompt for TP command*.

    *See thread about elitism.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Apparently the 5th column make a comeback for the 5th anniversary event, it was in an interview, i forget where though. They said something along the lines of "we're looking foward to something special from the 5th......anniversary" subtlety obviously not being a prerequisite of press releases.

I can't find the quote now though.

    (in other news, 1st post!)

As first posts go, that is very impressive. Welcome.

5th aniversary event, coming in April or May.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Has this actually been officially confirmed though, or is it still rumour?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's confirmed that there is something big planned for issue 15 to coinside with the 5th anniversery.

It is also confirmed that issue 15 will be a big story issue, and advance the plot.

Put that with all the stuff about the Coming Storm, and it might be a good idea to pack your undead slaying axe if you see any shooting stars in April.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Because subscribers will be turned off by any perceived apathy on NorCals part.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    No events at all, certainly.

Doing the same event every year, with minor additions, or more loot, is also pretty apathetic.

    [ QUOTE ]
I would love to see this either additionally or in-place of.

    [/ QUOTE ]

5th aniversary event, coming in April or May.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
I doubt anything ever was planned, the point is... why?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Why not?

Why sould their be a new event every valantines?

And why not have events for labour day, or Martin Luthor King's Birthday, or Independance Day, or whatever.

Or better still, just have events occur when significant changes occur in the game world.

    [ QUOTE ]
Because with the size of the Dev team they could of done something new if they had put aside time to do it!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sure they could. or they could do something more interesting instead

    [ QUOTE ]
even if its a variation on the current event.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Kill snaptooth in a slightly different way? Give out more phat loot? The Valantines events are rubbish anyway, we don't need more. Thier main purpose was to test co-op teaming anyway.

    [ QUOTE ]
the Dev team is beginning to think its barely worth the effort development man power-wise to do this event update-content

    [/ QUOTE ]

    And they would be right.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
It is glaringly obvious it has just not been planned ahead, otherwise we'll have a redname along shortly on the US forums to say how new features were scheduled for this year - list them and say sorry but finessing Architect got in the way,

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, they probably realsed a long time ago that they wouldn't be able to fit in anything new for Valantine 2009. Nothing was dropped because nothing was ever planned.

World changing events don't happen on that kind of shedual in real life, why should events have to happen at those times in a game?
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Maybe some Valentine-y missions would be nice. Stopping Valentine's chocolates laced with behaviour altering drugs from leaving a factory, a mission to rescue a guy's ring from some thugs so he can propose to his girlfriend, stopping the Carnies from attacking a Valentine's Day Ball (complete with partygoers all dressed up and classical music).

PVP Missions in Instanced city zones to stop villains from wrecking displays at shops and breaking up the people celebrating the day, and a PVE version too... or heading to the isles to try and spread some love there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm sorry, but none of these mission ideas gets me jumping up and down with excitement.

If they have time to do those, I would rather they used the time to create interesting missions, averting alien invasions and evil plots, and put them in an issue.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
If new event feature updates were planned ahead like they should be and time put aside they could do both.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Only by doing smaller/less frequent issues, or by having more people (and hence increasing the cost of the game).

    [ QUOTE ]
In the words of the wise old green one "do or do not - there is no try".

    [/ QUOTE ]

Indeed, and this year, it is do not.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Weren't these events originally crowd pullers?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Originally, yes.

But only whilst it remains novel.

Unless you can afford the time to develop a lot of new stuff, it becomes impossible to keep fresh. Even with the new ski slope and IOs the winter event felt stale this year.

And if you do a completly new event every year, then you are spending a lot of developer time on stuff that is only available for 2 weeks, then disapears.

It's better to celibrate different events each yera. This year the 5th aniversary will be the big bang.
  21. I would say it doesn't need to. You would have to sacrifice a lot of effectiveness elsewhere to cap def, and the strength of Shield is offensive, not defensive.

If you wanted your brute to be the team tanker you wouldn't choose /Shield in the first place.

I do notice Active Defense only has one Recharge. Do you have enough recharge from sets to make it perma (i don't have access tO Mids at work)?
  22. Chain Confusion proc might work to make WoC more confusing.
  23. Yup, Necrotron is right. the problem is caused by packet loss, but some games are designed in such a way as not to be so badly effected by packet loss.

Unfortunatly, this is a flaw in initial game design, that cannot easily be patched.
