Trina the Seamstress gets a new title: Trina the Body Sculptress.

Certain Icon Employees are now Icon Cosmetic Surgeons.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can confirm that Trina's name has indeed changed on the test server!

    [/ QUOTE ]

perhaps because "Seamstress" is a euphamism for another profession?

I think both the TF and the SF are going to get quite a bit of tweaking before they go live.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They better because as they stand now, I suspect they were written (not programming written but storytelling written) by one of the new guys as their first piece of big work as there's a lot of things wrong with regards the story in terms of pacing, details given, the clues are kind of lackluster (no a Hopeless bossfight isn't fun and is just damn confusing...admittedly the objective does just switch to "Find Mission exit!" but still try to find some other way to show just how uber this returning villain is).

I'd personally be very surprised if War Witch had done the mission dialogue and NPC dialogue as it certainly doesn't seem up to her usual standard.

    [/ QUOTE ]

MA has taught us how to be much more critical of story arcs...

  3. There is great stuff in issue 15.

But it's all in the MA additions, so if story telling with the MA don't float your boat there isn't much else.

But the thing is, the founder of the Carnival was not a mutant, she was a psionic. Dimitri Krylov says there are no mutants before 1938 and Sister Psyche says psionics are something different from mutants and have always existed. It fits.

mmm, then marvel and NC are on a disagreement, wolverine is born in the 1800's.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why would they agree? The Marvel Universe and the CoH universe are unrelated (and both are fictional).
  5. The really expensive stuff is much more expensive blue side. There simply isn't enough total inf redside for prices to rise as high.

A lot of stuff which is cheep blueside is more expensive redside because of rarety of supply, but that aint what would be smuggled.
  6. Use any of the high level PPD units. In issue 15 you can recolor thier costumes.

if the Devs in their wisdom granted us The Moth Cathedral the RP'ers have been hankering after since the zone was released

    [/ QUOTE ]

In there wisdom the devs try to stear as far away as possible from RL religion. Don't expect to ever see a church, mosque or synagogue in Paragon City.
  8. I think it's reasonable to assume Manticore will be in it (as will Ghost Widow). No reason to suppose he will be the central character though.

Manticore doesn't really walk the line between good and evil though. Disagreeing with Statesman doesn't make someone evil. It's more a case of States is lawful good, Manticore is chaotic good.
  9. Aye, given that we have been told that we will be able to travel to Praetoria, and we have seen Praetoria in the trailer, I believe we can consider an absolute minimum of one new zone confirmed content.

There must also be sufficient new missions in Praetoria to swing your moral compass from red through grey to blue and back.

Since we have been told you can switch sides an unlimited number of times, some of that content must be repeatable.

The new powersets, and any graphical update, could well be considered free content, and form issue 16, if GR launches at the same time.

    [ QUOTE ]
You know this is about the Praetorian Statesman, Tyrant invading our dimension

    [/ QUOTE ]

That is far from confirmed. What is confirmed is that we will be looking for Tyrant in his own dimension.

From the Rogue expansion, we haven't yet be informed abount any penalties for joining the other faction. I'm not confirming that there are penalties, but I predict that there is a good chance of a few.

I imagine there could possibly be a inf penalty or badge penalty. Anyway, my main point is that I think they will probably include some penaltys, and that one of them will probably be a inf penalty.

And this is if they don't merge WW and the BM.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It'll flop if they have too many restrictions, just look at the fuss over some easy to get badges. If they stop you from transfering over with cash or some sort you immediatly limit the amount of people who will actually swap. I know I for one would have to give it serious consideration of some characters.

If they for instance stop you taking a complete slotted build over with you so you can't respec and sell once there, people would get to the other side and be unable to slot up.

It might of course be a penalty 15% or something of your cash... but IDK I'm reckoning they'll just merge the markets after a while with the villains getting better drops.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The obvious solution is to merge the markets, but if they decide not to, or they can't, there is another option.

Hero has 1mil influence. He goes rogue. In Rogue Isles he has 0 infamy and 1mil influence. Infamy can only be spent in the Rogue Isles and influence only spent in Paragon. Once the hero returns to Paragon he will have ?infamy and 1mil influence. It's irrelevant how much infamy he has, because infamy can only be spent in the Rogue Isles, but he has as much influence as he left with.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Doesn't work, because you could still use "going rogue" to smuggle enhancements and recipes from red side to blue side and make a killing that way.
  11. It's not Ulterior.

I could tell you where I've seen it before, but then I would have to arrest myself for breaking the EULA.
  12. I think the did say they havd used a difficulty based multiplier when calculating the merit reward (do we still care about merits now we can get those enhancements so easily with tickets?)

Anyway, villains have a new SF on test today, and it's rewards aren't based on avarage times (because there aren't any yet)!
  13. It all depends on how the map is set up.

I have an idea that on that map all the spawn points in the cells are "rescue" type spawn points, which means that you can't have a boss spawn there.
  14. Do a few villain task forces really slowy. Since there are so few villains anyway it won't take many slow runs to make a difference to the datamined statistics.

IMO, that those griefing or creating farms would appeal the decision since they would be in the wrong - the GM would look at the case and dismiss it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

of course they would! You have seen how much they whine! If there was any chance of appealing to human authority the GMs would imidetely be snowed under any it would be back to checking everything manually.

The only way an automated sytem could work is if it was fully automated, and that would ineviably lead to the inocent being punished along with the guilty.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
It's a shame that the automatic griefing/farming detection can't be used to identify offenders to be punished with the scalpel rather than blitzing the badges with a nuke.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Can you suggest a griefing/farming detection algorithm that would never produce false positives?
  17. [ QUOTE ]
although I put it down to using the tempory power to repair the nuclear power plant core in the respec TF I once did.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This does count, as does any healing you do with tempory powers. As Amy is a pet she would earn you points too.

I think it's perfectly reasonable that self heals don't count towards this badge.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Instead all it does is annoy/irritate pretty much everyone to varying degrees.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Doesn't bother me in the slightest.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
It's still great reward for little effort, albeit a less tangible reward than XP.

If people made missions specifically to shortcut to some badges, it's a farm in the dev's eyes.

[/ QUOTE ]im not disagreeing that it is classed as farming, im trying to say it two different types of farming. to me it like saying you put water in a cardboard box and set the box alight and see who can destory the box the frist

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, farming for badges and farming xp are two different things, but they both cause the same problem: MA stuffed with rubbish missions.

This measure deals with one type of farming, and the devs have given badgers an advance warning in an attempt to reduce wasted time.

I'm sure issue 15 will contain measures to deal with xp farming too, but the devs have decided not to give advanced warning about this.

I hope they extend this design phlosophy to the rest of the game, and reduce the requirements of a lot of the hunt badges (Illusionists!)

Although Bug Hunter would also have to go...
  20. [ QUOTE ]
He'll be taking 10% less damage than he was without the 5% defense.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Thats relative, not absolute.

Imagina a mob that does 200 damage per attack. With 90% res and no def you will take, on avarage 0.5*0.1*200 = 10 points. Add in 5% def: 0.45*0.1*200 = 9 points. Relative benefit 10%, absolute benefit 1%.

Given that the secret to long term survival is to be able to recover hp faster than you take damage, I'm pretty sure that increasing regen/healing will give a better return from set bonuses than the small reduction in absolute damage that +def provides.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
I am guessing you mean "reduction of incoming damage in absolute terms"?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Elec Armor is very good, I'm not derailing the topic but I fail to see where the weakness is?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    In simple terms: no heal.

For extended suvivability you need to be able to heal/regenerate damage faster than you are taking damage.

For a brute this doesn't matter so much - you kill things quickly, before they kill you. And both of these:

    [ QUOTE ]
    It has +20% Recharge

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
you hardly have to worry about your endurance.

    [/ QUOTE ]

help a brute to kill stuff quicker.

However on a tanker niether feature is particularly useful, since it's not your job to kill stuff, and without a heal your green bar will run out long before your blue bar.

On a scrapper, Electric Armor would be just about passable, but an electric armor tanker would be gimped even worse than electric armor stalker.
  23. Might I suggest you use the Search feature, for much has been said about this topic.
  24. Having a high resistance reduces the effectivness of defense as damage mitigation, and having a high defence reduces the effectivness of resistance as damage mitigation.

As an example, if you have gain 5% def with zero resistance you reduce avarage incoming damage by 10%. If you have 90% resistance adding 5% def only reduces incoming damage by a further 1%.

As for saving endurance, ok, my level 50 tanker is Ice, but the only time my blue bar dips is when I get hit by a sapper, the rest of the time endurance simply isn't a factor.
  25. Castle hinted that the whole of the psi set is getting ajusted, so while PSW will be nerfed, all the other powers in the set will be buffed.

    [ QUOTE ]
I wonder how many /psi dermadoms will quit over this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    All three of them?
