The Doctor should have been paying attention. He shouldn't have split the party, he should have checked the Tardis history files to determine what was going on before venturing forth. He should have brought the Tardis to the right time when entering the accelerated timestream, he should have checked how much time had passed before sending out Rory.

This is all perfectly in character for the Doctor. He has been irresponsible, careless, feckless, reckless, and needlessly endangering his companions since he sabotaged the Tardis fuel link in order to investigate the Dalek city.

He could easily have avoided it happening at all.

To the Doctor, meh, what's 36 years?

I agree. It's not a matter accurately recreating a comic book design that was limited by the printing process and production time deadlines. It's a matter of something that doesn't make you look like a total prat. And the second costume completely fails in that respect.

Regardless of the mail, I think the belt pouches look much better in black leather than bright blue!

Yup. I would have thought putting him in something resembling a modern military flak jacket, but painted in the costume colours, would have been more sensible, and tied into the look of the first film. This looks more like the "stage" costume.

    Standard trousers of time explanation.

Doesn't mean that a timeline without the Roman empire would be an improvement.

Well yeah, on account of it being less likely to produce the outcome of western civilisation, and hence the US marines, never existing in the first place....
  9. Yeah, I think the species was called Cucklids, or something similar.

Although the cuckoo is parasitic, wheras this species seems to be more of a symbiote.

Note, the Doctor's age: about 1000.

Yes, it was mentioned in Doctor Who. He IS ageing, but very slowly. Presumably a temporary removal/reduction in his immortality would allow him to age at a normal pace for the duration of the effect.

Might be intentional. Last episode: Jack receives mortal wound. Jack jumps back up and saves the day. Sorry, we where wrong, we thought Jack's immortality was gone, be we where mistaken.

Messianic returns are very typical of RTD's writing style.

Isn't that because it's supposed to be bad movies with a good cast, and the presence of Keanu Reeves nullifies the acting talents of anyone else in the same film?
  13. Not just the bracers, the belt is red too, echoing the red shorts.

  15. Actually, I have a theory about that.

If you watch "The Green Death", look how the 3rd Doctor reacts when Jo tells him she is marrying "a younger version of you".

After that point the Doctor started regenerating younger.
  16. Yeah, this is an appalling design. I don't usually object to a little tweaking, but Superman's outfit is iconic well beyond comic book fans.

What's with the horrible black plastic webbing?
The blue is completely the wrong shade. Superman is supposed to be a BRIGHT hero. Are we doing elseworlds Superman/Batman hybrid? And no-pants is going make him the laughing stock of the tabloid press.

Maybe this is supposed to be a Kryptonian suit that will evolve into the proper suit. If not, this looks like a movie to avoid at all costs.

Actually, I seem to remember a fifth Doctor episode in which the Doctor was forced to sacrifice a few regenerations.

And the 10ths aborted regeneration aught to count, too.

    Then there is the Valeyard...

The Doctor really should be running out by now...

But the limit on regenerations was supposed to be imposed by Rassilon, and he is time locked out of the picture now...

Obviously, they avoided direct confrontation with him for as long as possible, which is why he never learned of their existence (via using the marks to remember them). I can see a montage of every villain The Doctor's ever faced with a Silence hovering behind them. Perhaps they've even been behind all the Daleks that keep slipping through the cracks somehow. *shrug*
so long as the Silence don't take to wearing luchador outfits...

Nah. Nothing to do with that.

I simply prefer the pacing of the original series, with more room for characters other than the Tardis crew to bloom.

Meh, original series at it's hight was far superior. Find yourself a copy of "Genesis of the Daleks".

    Played by Louise Jameson.

Given that I'm 43 and English, Dr Who was my childhood.
