  1. Given that Defiance just got completely changed...

    If you where going to replace containment (the controller inherent) what would you replace it with?

    (Yes, this is a spin off thread, from which all mention of specific powerset combanations is banned)
  2. It repels you from a vertical position to a prone position. The damage is caused by being flattend into the ground.


    If you don't like it you could still have it as a knockback power. It still takes KB enhancements, and enhanced knockdown becomes knockback.

    One of the objections to the negative power boost harming mez resistance is it hurts res sets more than defs sets, since res will get hit by mezzes more often.

    However, more reciently, Castle has been talking about coding it in such a way that is doesn't affect mez resistance.
  4. Since I have never seen anyone use this power in 3 years, I think it may be needed.
  5. My usual AV stratagy is lightform=>die=>self rez=>dwarf. The lightform holds aggro quite well because you can do a lot of damage, but you might try taking a taunt from the presance pool.
  6. I got +39% accuracy and +6% to hit from set bonuses, so I don't need to slot it with accuracy. If the damage proc fires it will have more effect than a taunt duration, and I can keep spamming flare with it's +recharge proc wich usually attacks enough attention.

    I don't team tank that often anyway, I usually just use dwarf as mez protection whilst Light Form recharges.

  8. Just thought I would give a heads up based on Castle's posts on the US forums. for FF defenders. Further to Repulsion Bomb being given damage (currently on test) it is also being changed to knockdown, and will be alowed to take damage enhancements. However, it will not benefit from containment (controller version).

    Now in my experience Power Boost buffs defense but not resistance, so I would expect this to debuff defense but not resistance, making it worse for def sets.

    However in a later post Castle seems to think it wouldn't affect defence (or heals), but would affect mez resistance.

    I haven't done a lot of analysis on it, but it would almost certainly not debuff Defense, Damage Resistance, Regeneration or Self Heals. It would almost certainly include a decrease in Status Protections (which would be the prime consideration when determining the numeric impact in terms of Magnitude and Duration of the crash.)

  10. My build is admitedly gimicky. I'll tell you which of my procs work really well though: FrcFbk-Rechg% in White Dwarf Flare.

    The -resist one I'm having trouble rating its effectiveness. I do tend to spam Glinting Eye though.
  11. Not suprising really. I think my Mothership example earlier illustrates why this was always broken.

    I think it could work with a cap though.

    The trick is to make stalkers great vs bosses, and good against AVs. The % system makes them ok vs bosses and uber vs AVs, and super-uber vs GMs.

    It wouldn't really matter if it was just Taunt, but the whole trigger for this change was the cancellation of RttC and Inv. You couldn't make those work through phase shift without seriously breaking the game.
  16. I suspect it has to do with balancing the VEATs coming soon. They probably don't have a kryptonite group, or at least they don't do unresitable damage.

    It also means there will be more kelds, since this will make it easier to get through those difficult early levels.

    As we have been saying, kelds are balanced anyway; they don't need kryptonite to balance with the other ATs.


    Final thought, this gives WSs an edge over PBs, since they have higher base negative energy resistance - could be quite noticable at low levels.

    Yeah, I agree, a 15 second end crash on Rage makes SS pretty much unplayable (or at least not fun to play). If Castle can't do any more work on this until after issue 12 it should be rolled back to the current live version.

    Otherwise, I suggest a boycot on playing SS characters until it's fixed.
  18. Frosty Robot has all the Vanguard merits he needs, but if you want to raid on defiant, Glistening Gold needs another 300 merits to complete the outfit.
  19. Scirocco is best by far. As a healer, the Mu Guardian is the best patron pet in the game, and Energy Transfer is excellent, and with Power Boost you can use it to wipe out the end of anything smaller than an EB, as well as fully recharge yourself.

    Charged armour is red lightning, but very understated, you barely notice it.

    Reason 1)

    This AS change. It seems to me that they are trying to balance stalkers and scrappers, and put more clear blue water between the two.

    2) The RWZ co-op zone used to collect datat on the performance of ATs working together.

    3) Axing keldians as the villain epic AT. villain keldians will be available by going rogue.

    4) "Going rogue" was planned from the start of CoV, but couldn't be implemented do to lack of resources. NorCal now has those resources.

    My objection to the zero end recovery is more based on the (lack of) fun factor. why do so many people take Stamina? You can get by without it, but most people would rather consentrate on the action rather than endurance micromanagement.

    Endurance micromanagement is not FUN.
  22. Yes, I've seen Castle's posts. I've also seen the one where he says he is very learly of any % based damage system. No doubt because of the Rikti Mothership example I gave earlier.

    GMs aren't common villain side, but they are designed to require more than 8 players to defeat. If stalkers get the 7% damage without a cap, most GMs will be easily defeatable by a tean of 6 stalkers. This becomes a bigger issue when the "going rogue" system is implemented later this year.


    I don't think a cap would be that hard to do. You simply set the maximum damage any attack can do (at a given level) as (say) 12% avarage even con AV max hp. Since only stalkers AS could get to the cap, it would in effect be a cap on AS damage only.

    Overcoming resistance with damage buffs migh appeal to Castle more thematically than toxic damage.
  23. I think what they need to do is keep it buffable, but cap it. Maybe at 12% of a typical equal level AV hp.

    You see, what happens if they decide to add something really tough, like an attackable Rikti Mother ship? Even with millions of hp it could still be ganked by a handful of stalkers. so what will the devs do? give i an autohit aura or some such that will make it completly immune to AS, thus making stalkers worse off then they would have been without the buff.

    In addition, if the cap was applied after resistance had been applied, any excess buffage would counter damage resistance, countering all the complaints about AVs with high S and L resistance on the US boards.
