Quote:theres a difference not answering hardball questions and answering questions that they have A) already answered or B) are easily accessible which most of the questions they picked fall under one of those two.Incidentally, I get that same feeling from reading your post.
I knew exactly what was this was going to be - a PR move to get me all giddy about Going Rogue. Hell, the inclusion of exclusive concept art was a dead give away.
No one really should have expected them to answer the hardball questions. Everything was filtered through the marketing department. -

Quote:ya know what? I actually hope they add DR to PvE. I hope they add DR, heal decay, slows and all the other crazy crap that they did for PvP so that the PvE community will tell the devs that the system is horrible and change both systems to something that doesn't suck. unless they start to ignore both communities at that point. And yet, here I am, a PvE-er who's *asking* for Diminishing Returns to come to PvE. Not only wouldn't I mind, I'd cheer for it. The PvE-ers who wouldn't like it are the same crew, or at least the same mentality of the hard core PvP crowd who min-max to hit the caps. Diminishing Returns reduces that hard-target obsession.
And in fact, we *do* have DR in the PvE world, it's called ED, which, once the IO system came out, is regarded by most PvE-ers who understand game mechanics and balance, a good thing.
-
Quote:It's a valid question. It was introduced into PvP and the questioner could have missed Castle's earlier statement that it's not coming to PvE, at least, not the legacy PvE, but maybe special, new content (like raids).
I'd be all for Diminishing Returns coming to regular PvP. The game's mechanics breaks down at the edges when you start stacking things up very high. In order to get around that, there are caps and limits. Diminishing Returns would soften the suddenness of a cap.
Don't worry, they include dancing to the oldies.
>.> but it didn't work in pvp, nothing in i13 did. -
Am I the only one that is angered/confused by people asking for DR in PvE?

please for the love of all that is holy, take shatter armor.

IIRC it was something like P>DW>P>ES but im not 100% on that

well all i had planned this toon for was small KB and dueling. would use a blaster for team zone stuff.
-
I can't continue playing until i find out where the freakin inf comes from. i have no idea.
-
Quote:lol@DP doing damageTrue, but the two should not be compared in first place because Corruptors are more akin to Blasters than they are Defenders. Sure a person could play their core just like a Defender, but then they would be negating a huge chunk of what the character does well, hence why so many people play them like Blasters that have soft controls.
Having played both a Fire/Dark and Dark/Dark Defender, I personally prefer my Dark/Dark/Mind over the Corruptor because being unkillable outweighs being able to kill fast. The Fire/Dark is great fun and I still enjoy playing her, but she is nothing like my Dark/Dark/Mind.
Even if the Dark/Dual isn't the same damage output as the Fire/Dark, the damage output of that character is excellent nevertheless and if the OP solos a lot then another 30% damage buff will only make it that much more dangerous.
that aside, you're basically arguing play style. you can easily build a fire/dark and a dark/dark to have the same level of survivability. -
first fix your code
second, just at a glance, blazing aura is gonna be counter productive to siren's song sleep. slotting for melee is way hard to do and ultimately not worth it when you can slot for about 35+ ranged defense or soft cap s/l defense(which is what I have been doing/recommending as of botz nerf). travel power? unless you're running ninja run. and i'd still try to fit in scream for a decent ST. attack chain. i'd come up with a build but im too lazy/haven't slept in 2 days so i'll let someone else do it. -
having not really made a controller before(especially for pvp) I'm not really sure what i'm doing but i've thrown this together and looking for some critique. For instance im not really sure if i should take more therm and go the buffing route i.e. pick up forge and cauterize. but im really looking for advice on power choice and slotting (for instance should i even bother with SI?)

I also wouldn't try to build a toon for both pve and pvp since the systems are so completely different. being good in one will gimp you in the other.

Quote:i assumed you were a troll since all 5 of the builds were unimaginably bad for how much inf would have been sunk into them(rather, no person who has actually leveld through the game would make those PoS). actually if you look in your blaster thread, i gave you criticism then assumed it would fall on deaf ears since your posts just appeared to be a massive troll cross post.Alright, due to my "obvious" lack of knowledge, I have simplified the build and just used the basic IO's. Now, I would love some support and encouragement on how to fine tune this build with suggestions as to which powers I absolutely do/don't need to take and when to take them, how to slot them properly, and which sets (if any) fit into these powers. I'm not looking to spend a ton of money (just what she can accumulate through leveling up). So with that in mind, I welcome and constructive criticism anyone might have.
Btw...calling all of my builds trolls and then not explaining how to make them any better doesn't help anything. they may be bad, but in my experience, it's always better to just try and help someone instead of just saying it sucks and walking away.
Thanks -
well you said this in another one of your fail posts
Quote:since this is obviously not true by the 5 borderline troll builds you've posted i suggest you get a better grasp on game mechanics by playing these builds and learning how they work, then make builds for them based on your experience and (when you IO) budget.Despite my lack of knowledge with specific sets and IO's and such, I have a keen understanding of the game mechanics. So please feel free to get specific with powers that I do/don't need, when to pick them, how to slot them, which enhancements to put where, what sets are the best for this combination of powers, etc. I do prefer to hear what has/hasn't worked for a certain person despite their/my play style. -
Quote:fun is purely subjective. yea DP has cool animations, but for me, that only gets the set so far(throwing pistols up in the air is cool until you get killed mid animation). my build is maxed so i can make up for the lower DPS/DPA and redraw has compared to my other blasters.[FONT="Trebuchet MS"]
Yah. PC_guy's build, while powerful, really didn't look "fun" by my standards. It was just a purely maximized build. Personally, I took all Dual Pistols attacks just cause they're freakin' fun! And Suppressive Fire comes in handy quite often when I solo. But even then, I still managed to find a nice balance between fun, concept, efficiency and price! Here's my build, if anyone's curious: -
Quote:placate proc is useless in pve. besides me having no need for flash freeze anyway.Yeah, looking at your build I see you have softcap defenses to S/L.
However, I have no idea why you would skip ES. Which has better DPA than DW.
And why not put the placate proc into Flash Freeze? For solo play, the sleep would be useful and for team play, placate while not reliable, at least would have uses.
ES's DPA is barely higher than DW which is easily made up for by the higher range, lower end cost, and .9 sec lower activation time.
that aside, looking at all the other posts, ima stop feeding the troll now.
