Quote:this. No it's not. Having people pve in a pvp zone does not promote pvp.
the real problem I have with this idea is that all it accomplishes is getting people, assuming you can in fact get people, which I would be amazed if you could consistently, in zone the one time for shivans or nukes or whatever. all that mini game/temp BS does nothing to promote pvp, which should be the ultimate goal here.
the most advantageous way to combine pvp with badges while promoting pvp would be the arena badges with kickball. -
No, not for zone. for duels, sure they're harder to kill but they certainly didn't get a buff with i13. regen aside, i've been able to kill pretty much any other melee character with ease on my blaster. duel's they aren't *that* good and zone/arena its all about taunt. I left regen out since i haven't been able to kill a decent regen that knows what he/she is doing with said blaster, i usually bust out the therm corr for regen's. But my point is that I can't think of any point where i would rather be on a melee than ranged.

well not putting exploits and every specific badge in the patch notes is one thing, but even the first few waves of CB for i17 I specifically remember the vigilance change *not* being in the patch notes for a while and it took castle (i think) coming on and saying ">.> o yea, this is changed now".

swap ammo just changes the secondary effect and does not increase damage. now fire ammo will add dots increasing damage but you actually lose damage if you use cold or toxic ammo (I believe umbral had a chart during CB showing DPS of DP with the different ammo types and fire/leathal came out middle of the pack while cold/toxic were at the bottom)
but not the DoT effect doesn't increase its chance depending on attack. if you look at each power's info (right click > info > detailed info) it'll show you the secondary effect of the power depending on which ammo you have on. -
Quote:not really, to get a good, fun experience, there needs to be a minimum of 10 people (8 for kb will do but 5v5 is better) you could easily have 7-8 people trying to kill AVs while the other 2 try and grief them, so to speak, and kill them. so basically team of 8 vs 2 and AVs. and an, albeit small, chance for purple drop. The only reason I wasn't suggesting RV was because getting enough people to be able together to both PVP and take down the heroes would be very hard to do at the start. Shivans or Nukes would be better enticements as players not only get a badge if they needed it, they'd get a temp power that they can use later.
However, if the point is to just get people into the zone and introduced to pvp mechanics, it doesn't really matter what level or the activity is. but there is a point were, I atleast, would like to move from doing pve in a pvp zone to doing pvp in a pvp zone/arena. most of the kickball we do, is very respectable and the pver's we've brought on said they had a blast and got badges during. yea the system is different and makes no sense, certain ATs are better than others, and it gives no rewards ios aside (TY devs for i13) but doing pvp can be fun by itself and is something different from far too repetitive PvE game. At the very least i'd be nice to expose everyone to once then help who ever enjoy's it. even if we only get 6 more people who would enjoy consistantly pvping, thats more than we have now and is a start (big enough to be fun small enough to be freedumb) -

Quote:except all of those were in the i16 patch notesI guess that just because a Master of badge isn't listed in a patch note, that means the badge doesn't exist?
It is good to know that the following are figments of our collective imaginations:

However, the point still holds true that just because something isn't in the patch notes doesn't mean it doesn't exist. the devs have become increasingly vague about what they put in the patch notes. far from everything makes it, which is BS, and kinda defeats the point of the patch notes IMO. -
Quote:bloody bay isn't the way to go. the RV AVs would be better simply because they run at 50.Okay, I know I'm known for not caring about PVP. I was trying to figure out some way to combine badging and PVP to get some activities going, and I thought the mini-games might be a good excuse.
How about a brawl over shivans? We could get a couple groups trying to collect a full team's worth of shivans in a set amount of time.
One of the main hurdles I see is balance. One hero vs a dozen villains isn't fun, neither is one villain vs a dozen heroes. Another hurdle is skill level. While there are some really skilled PVPers on Triumph, I would hazard a guess that most are not.
Thoughts?
balance is would only be a hurdle if people don't show up
skill isn't a hurdle. i13 took out any form of skill pvp had. the only way one player can have an advantage over another is that player 1 has a greater knowledge about the (broken and stupid) pvp system, which anyone can read up on, or go ask in the pvp section. -

Quote:thisI believe I was on that last Masters attempt with said person, and I don't remember anyone saying anything bad about them o.O I also only joined to help them get the badge, I didn't care about getting it on any of my toons. I'd also be fine with running it again with them, mainly because we're friends :P
also being one of the ones on the last 3 of those master runs, said person was in no way put down, made fun of, or harassed. disappointed? sure, its a very tedious badge to achieve but knowing many of the members that also ran in those specific task forces, the only reason we ran them was to get said person the badge.
also, as much as i don't like people who say this, but if you don't pvp don't talk about it because 90% of the people who do that don't pvp are wrong in what they say (not that i blame them for not wanting to know about a broken system that makes no sense but still) -
i tried both and didn't see anything but i'll try both again tonight.

Quote:there is no way this can be right. with the average pug, the mito's were unkillable. I was on lug's team and we could neither kill a mito or power through the heals on the hami. why change the tf at all? it was fine as it was.I just looked at the powers for this entity and I *did* find a bug...but nothing that would cause the increased difficulty you are describing.
The only change the powers of this entity has undergone was in issue 16, when I made a change to the way it's auto and toggle powers work to alleviate server stress.
As for the bug I did find, apparently instead of having 50 points of hold Protection, the green mito has 50 points of hold mag preapplied, meaning it is permaheld already. That is causing it to not use it's 2 click powers.
EDIT: Note the that zone version of the Healer works properly, only the mission version had the hold issue. -
Quote:meh. thats not entirely true. there are plenty of people, myself included, that have played the game so long, know how it works, and have saved up enough influence that actually getting to 50 and slotting everything with expensive stuff takes all of 2-4 weeks. at most.It never ceases to amaze me how many people post a build and ask for comments on it, and the build incorporates multiple billions of inf worth of rare and purple enhancements, while so few post builds for comment that show the slotting and enhancements the character's going to have for the other 99% of play -- the time spent getting up to 50 and collecting the inf to buy all those purple enhancements. For all that you may be short-stroking all over yourself at how studly your character is going to be once they're fully purped out, you're going to be a long time getting there, and not making any plans for the trip is going to cost you more in the long run.

thats because therm is crazy OP as a sapper. if the elec pets stack -recovery or -end(which im sure they will) then PvP they'd be very FOTM/OP.
-
<--has little faith in server events. remember the last server event that was supposed to be really fun and ended up just being a pseudo-zombie invasion(with no rewards mind you)?
-
i still included it in the final build for duels but probably wont use it for zone. although I pvp on triumph were the last time we had legit zone was about 6 months ago. so I got that goin for me.

I understand how marketing works, i think its crap but i still understand it.
