Just one more quick question. If I go for "farming" IOs in the Arena, will I still need to wait for the kill timer to reset before getting a chance for an IO? I ask this because, from what I've experienced in the past two days, zone PvP feels like being zerged by 10 angry AVs with fully-slotted Travel Powers, and I don't know how much of that I can do without losing my mind.
Also, do you happen to have a BS/Regen build lying around? Other than the fact that I need lots of -Kb IOs, Phase Shift, and Procs, I have no idea what I'm doing in a PvP build.
arena still has the timer on it but most people just find a place in zone that is hard to find and farm there(which would be harder or easier depending on where you're farming and population. )
the thing you have to remember is since the pvp system is so messed up, it takes some practice to get used to the mechanics and get a feel for what you're doing. -

i13 was an attempt to make PvP more appealing to us "carebears", and we all know how well that went over. Attempts to force PvP, or even encourage PvP, among the PvE crowd are destined to fail. Those that want to PvP will do so; those that want nothing to do with it should not be enticed into it.
Trying to get people that don't want to PvP on their own to engage in it with the lure of phat lutz, or anything else, is just stupid.
even if the crappy system was fixt (hopefully this would be included in the fix) there should still be some kind of incentive or goal to pvp (something better than pvp IOs). -

i didn't realize WP was that good for Stalkers in PvP, or at least better than regen. i guess i haven't paid enough attention to current PvP preferences for Stalkers. My only two Stalkers of any level are Elec/Nin and DM/Nin, and oddly enough i've never taken either into PvP even though i use less optimal combos like my Dark/Ice Def, Widow and PB.
What is it that makes WP more popular now than Regen for Stalkers? Is it the more layered mitigation with click heals, +hp, resists, regen and +def as compared to regen being mostly click heals, +regen and some +hp?
Also, DM or Elec?
(Might drag one of the two i mentioned into a PvP zone just to see how they fare.)

Having spent the last year or two playing the market, I've obviously noticed the incredible shortage of PvP IOs. Now, I'd like to help with that, and am looking at PvPing for drops. A few questions, first.
1) I've heard talk of a "nerf" to PvP Drop farms, is this true? Does it make PvPing for IOs useless?
2) What exactly are the "rules" for PvP IOs? I know that, when you kill in a PvP zone, you have a small chance of a drop. If you try to kill the same toon again, you will not be eligible for a drop. Does it work the same way in the Arena? How do support toons get IOs?
And, finally, I have 2 toons that look like they could work in PvP, a Rad/Sonic Defender (with a Pema-AM, TF build) and a BS/Regen Scrapper. Now, if neither of these options are viable, then I'd be willing to start up a FotM, like a Psi/EM. If anyone has a build for, or any advice on the best choice out of the 3 above, let me know.

2) PvP IOs have a 1/70 chance to drop on *rep worthy kills* (which you'll see in your global tab that rep is awarded) the thing about rep is it can only be awarded by the same player every 5 minutes. ex. if A kills B it would take 5 minutes before A could get rep for killing B again. However on teams everyone gets rep for killing one player so everyone has a chance for a drop every time rep is awarded (but even then the chance for drops are so far and few between)
3 Both of those toons are very viable. the BS/regen would probably be better because regen is extremely resilient and is a nice ease into pvp (and i mean since you already have it build...). if you get really hardcore, rolling a psi/em will probably be the way to go. The rad/sonic is an awsum disruption toon but currently defenders kinda get the shaft on getting an exit power (hiber or wasting a pool on phase) AND/OR getting perception/tohit from the APPs. -

BU+FE and Chain Induction with 3 damage SOs does almost 1000 damage before a crit at lvl 50 in PvP.
BU+FE and Lightning Rod does around 800 at lvl 50 in PvP before Crit.

chain induction doesn't do anywhere close to 1000 damage (see the other thread which you gave all the bad info in)
Lightning rod does the same amount of damage in pve as pvp and last time i checked it didn't do 800 damage in pve so again no idea where you are getting your numbers from. also factoring in that most stuff will be kiting and it won't be used all that much.
elec has the same amount of res that fire has (might be more not entirely sure on that) along with end drain res although the heal isn't as good. and FM is substantially better than elec -

there is no where (mids, in game, city of info) to verify CI doing 1k damage.
im extremely tempted to post this in the pvp forums and let them tell you that you have NFC what you're talking about. you haven't substantiated your posts with facts, you haven't given solid information, you make claims that are flat out wrong and you don't defend them and instead name call. you good sir, perpetuate the stereotype of pvpers being jerks.
EDIT: CI's base damage isn't 300 or rather it is if every "jump" hits. which on a single target they wont so CI's actual damage will be much much less than that. -

By the way Tamaki.Go do the numbers on how much damage a SOd Elec/FA Scrapper can dish out before you chime in.
Chain Induction with BU+Fiery Embrace and 3 Damage SOs with PvP Numbers on a level 50 Scrapper can reach 1,000.Lightning Rod with both BU+FE and 3 Damage SOs point to a number of 800 Damage at level 50.Both before Crits are ever involved.

i'd really like to see these numbers since in game and mids shows this to be false, especially after you factor in base pvp global resistance and the fact that unless you're lolfiteklubing, lightning rod is hard to hit with.

I PvP with a Dark/Dark Defender, and i rip many players apart....Why would Elec Blasts be worse then Dark Blasts?My veiw is it wouldnt, in fact, the amount id Sap would prove devistating to anyone attacking me.If unslotted Short Circuit takes half a Bosses Endurance, what will it do to another player?
My point of veiw, is if you have no Endurance, my damage doesnt matter anyhow...your going to die reguardless.
B)well in all fairness, your toon is 38 so its harder to get a better response (level matters since most toons get their exit aka hibernoob in the patrons/epics) and dark's damage is fairly decent with gloom and dark blast. dark/dark also has 2 self heals. you are correct in that if you have no endurance, damage won't matter(to some extent anyway) but you also have to drain your target before he kills you. elec alone won't do this consistently and you'll have crappy damage to go along with an inconsistent sapp. elec's recovery debuffs are very short, short circuit is hard to hit since any decent pvper will be kiting like hell, and elec -end alone with its short recovery debuffs won't do you much good.
C) don't gage how well elec will do based on pve. like i said before, the values get DR'd a bunch, slotted short circuit will take away about a third of an end bar -

Iv been PvPing with a Dark/Dark build for practice latly, only lvl 38.Im curious how well a Dark/Elec will do in PvP, since iv seen Elec/Thermals eat Tankers in PvP, couldnt a Defender do even better?
elec/therms aren't good because of the /elec part. elec/therms are good because of heat exhaustion. elec is just a nice compliment because you can jump cancel short circuit and the other attacks and VS is awsum. its a horrible damage toon but then it doesn't need to be
dark/elec would be horrible damage and wouldn't be able to sapp anything. along with the other reasons defenders suck in pvp, the lack of phase/hiber or perception via patron/APP. low damage even with lolvig. if you want to sapp you'd need a primary that also sapps for elec to compliment it i.e. kin or therm.
EDIT: and im not really sure what is so bad about the pvp section. its not like people get overly snarky there when you're just simply asking a question like this. or any of your past threads. -

Sad thing is base raids did successfully what they said they wanted I13 PvP to do which was interest non PvP'rs in PvP. Base raiding was my first PvP experience. They where beyond fun and I miss them. I really hope they will be brought back regardless of any PvE trial connection.
For those that did follow the dev post here and have a hard time understanding why the community as a whole would be so rude to a simple announcement i13 PvP changes where pushed through even after the dev's where told they would ruin PvP. They where told this in an intelligent and polite way and where still ignored. So i13 went through and poof went the PvP community and no it probably wasn't large enough to even make them blink subscription wise. But now those left are still trying to enjoy PvP though it's retarded, and yes they are angry and ignored with every issue since so getting frustrated and bitter.
Unfortunately it's loose/loose since by being angry/rude the dev's are less likely to want to help the PvP community by fixing PvP, and when they tried to be polite they where ignored anyway.
