Quote:perhaps but this will be on a build to build basis. i think for a few people it would open up to take powers for proc slotting (the first thing that comes to mind is geting concealment for another 10-20 free rech from lotg proc slotting). I think that this will make most builds easier than it will make them harder *just* because of slot management. I don't know though, as much as im trying not to "tell people who to play" (which i didn't think i was, just stating that the game is very *very* easy) I really don't like this change. yes, endurance management was annoying but atleast it was a hurdle that needed to be dealt with, either via build or insp managment or whatever and added some small challenge to playing a character.Actually, you're both doing that. While I don't agree with them, it's perfectly acceptable feedback to state that you don't wish for the fitness pool to be inherent. Many people over the years have argued against making the Fitness Pool inherent.
And the reason that PC Guy states is true. This will open up some builds. What he ignores is that I greatly doubt that we will be offered more slots to go along with the three extra powers we can take. That's going to make building more thoughtful, not less. More fun IMO, too because you're going to have to do a fair bit of the "min" work in Min/Maxing. -
this game is already very easy on 4/8. making stamina inehernt makes it much easier and takes away alot of what was fun/challenging about making builds.

Quote:perhaps but personally i have little faith in the devs to make difficult content. (since it has yet to happen)I understand your concern and typically I agree with you. But since the new end game stuff is supposed to be the hardest content in the game, I'm hoping it balances out.
honestly this takes alot of complexity out of builds. not to mention the effects this will have on pvp. -
Quote:is there any word on i19 cb then?Nope, 20. Someone asked Ransim if it was a typo, but it wasn't.

Quote:you do realize that while a large majority of the pvp community is on freedom there are some spread out on other servers AND most of the hardcore people play on test(since everything can be reproduced.) so while i Don't have number to back it up, it is still true that the community is significantly larger than most people give it credit for. (this is also due to something like RPing/badging doesn't require the amount of prep time and is much easier to participate in than pvp)
And then, of course, I DO have issue with your size of the PvP community. I've seen far greater numbers participating in the VirtueVerse wiki than I have in totalling all the PvP participants I've ever met... Badgers? The hardest core badgers have two websites that track their stats and a great deal of participants. Heck, a single unannounced costume contest gets a better turnout than most PvP events.

Quote:fixt. What you're really saying is the devs are RPers who got smashed on their db/da broots under the Statue in RV because the opponent just kept attacking during their monologue and then they were too mesmerized by their animated tails
srsly though, im relatively confident that all the devs are RPers, which is why they know how to cater to them. -
Quote:Care to show how it is done?
Oh, and I forgot to add: apparently we got the Storm AV.
not really, the CoP is horribly designed trail that has absolutely no point in running ever. the reward is trivial for the amount of prep put in, and the entire trial is even more trivialized by taking out the base raiding factor which means the only reason to run it is to do something difficult which if you're doing that you might as well do a hami since it atleast rewards you for your time.
I will say however that its pretty safe to assume that it was probably infact the players involved. you basically pugged the thing only telling people to get shivs/nukes(insert shivans on lrsf quote) which is setting you up for fail. yes, the trail is designed to be stupid hard (which would be awesome if it actually rewarded you for it) but thinking you can do it with the average pug consisting of the mediocre people you'll find on TW/about half of the triumph forumites, you're setting yourself up for fail. note im not saying that they're all bad players, even though there are some, just that they more casual players and aren't good enough to complete something as hard as the cop on, what is probably safe to assume, most of their first times because you need to know what you're doing. -
Quote:I'm sorry for the confusion with the start time and that I missed inviting some of you.
The raid failed due to mechanics, not the players involved.
We dropped 8 chemical nukes, likely the same amount of nuclear rockets, had full bio rocket support, I saw about a dozen shivans, and I know we had about 5 rad/* defenders or */rad controllers and a bit over a full team of damage dealers and we only got the AV to 1/4 health in the 45 second window.
The AV continued to take us out through his shields, and his regen rate was impossible to overcome even with all the debuffs.
Like I said, it wasn't the team's fault, it was the game's.

Quote:i'm well aware that those devs aren't the ones that deal with any of this. but when castle says something new that will make people happy, we can dream can't we? (although generally those things that castle says aren't that spectacular and the stuff we do ask for is in the coming storm). You are forgetting that a lot of this is handled by DIFFERENT teams/devs. David has nothing to do with game mechanics or how PvP balancing. He's part of the art team. The look of zones, npc design etc fall in that category. He can design new and pretty things for us that do not have any impact on people that would be working on what to do with PvP. Even emotes would be handled by an animation team but not the powers that are behind any of the animations. Meanwhile the teams that have some control over the changes to pvp are the people that would assume would be working to give us the new powersets, and the npc "action" that we got in going rogue. I'd say they've had their hands full.
(i might be slightly off on the last point ...but for sure those working on costume parts are VERY far removed from PvP)

EDIT: why did mod12 hit my last post? -

Quote:questions about a massive overhaul of an integral part of an MMO(which is what pvp needs, not just bug fixes) that affect probably about an equivalent size community as the RP and hardcore badger community (as well as affecting those who badge/rp in pvp zones). it'd be nice to get some acknowledgement, literally *anything*, before they talk about more costumes/useless rp stuff/animated tails 2.0Is this right guys and gals? there are enough costume pieces, we dont need any more? are bugfixes that only affect a small part of the community usually big news for a convention? if theya re broken, then fixing them should be a normal procedure, not a groundbreaking announcement. by the way, why exactly are you and neut treating them as issues that would be fixed by the same groups? i doubt that jay or david would be part of fixing a pvp matter.
-
because there aren't enough costume pieces already(including multiple boosters) and pvp totes isn't broken.

Quote:speed/phase/jumping/leadership with levi/soul epic.but back on topic.. so leave rttc out then huh?.. what have you guys been using to replace it health? or just leaving the regen at its levels.? i currently have speed, fighting, jump, and med pool?
pre i13 it use to be speed, fighting, med pool, and fear.. the fear use to be the bread and butter.. fear them and melt with fire.. now that doesnt even work... pre i13 pvp sux ma ballz
WP scrappers are pretty mediocre although. -

Quote:I'm going to agree with mac on this one. the arena chagnes would be awesome and welcome but it wouldn't fix zones which is the worst. there is absolutely no reason to keep it the same. there is no one (im extremely confident in this blanket statement) that wants to keep the current pvp system in place or that wouldn't be opposed to a reversion to pre i13. the only thing leaving the current system in place would accomplish is completely kill what is left of zones.(because who would want to pvp in it when they can pvp in a system that makes sense and is the same as pve and it would continue to discourage any new players coming into zones and people coming in for badges and what have you and if the devs did use it to implement crazy systems, it would be way inconsistant to enjoy)Actually, when I find myself thinking I might want to look at PvP again, before the meds kick in, I find the two suggestions I made to the devs when the PvP adjustments were being made are still basically the same two suggestions I would pursue now:
1. Cross server arena
2. Arena settings to enable/disable five PvP effects separately: DR, Movement suppression, PvP damage adjustments, Heal suppression, and Mez conversion.
Both of these are theoretically doable. I'm less able to guestimate how difficult #1 is, but I am capable of doing so for #2. It would be significant work, but wouldn't require additional tech beyond the ability for the programmers to whip up relatively quickly. I still believe them both to be achievable and reasonable requests.
There's actually a whole logical argument I started to make regarding #2 that had to do with introducing PvP changes using that system, and using the arena settings statistics to essentially datamine what PvPers who actually PvPed found both fun and fair. If they are optional, you can introduce any wild settings you want because the players can always choose to ignore them, but conversely it also allows PvP subcultures to choose their own versions of PvP mechanics without having to obey the majority opinion. It allows PvP balance changes to evolve ten times faster than PvE changes as a result because change control is less critical. -
Quote:devs dont talk about pvp. under no circumstances. ever.thanks for the response
has the devs talked about fixing this.. or what?
also rttc in pvp isn't really worht it because it detoggles all the time and isn't all the much of a benifit since everyone you'll face will be kiting, unless you lolfiteklub but even then thats only one guy. -
if a dev comments in this or any other thread about pvp(mods aside) i'll give 1 bill to anyone who asks.

Quote:if i had to take a bet, i'd say its thisHe sure did, and ever since I have wanted whatever drug it was he was on when he said it, because if it alters one's reality that much I could sell it for a fortune.

really I think at this point it'd be better if we could just get a redname post (castle is the first that comes to mind since he's the powers guy, or posi since he made the sig promise) that would say anything. I had friends go to SDCC and specifically asked about pvp (to WW iirc, very broad questions as well) and got the "i can't comment" bit.
personally, for me, it'd be nice if they just came out and said they weren't messing with pvp anymore cuz they broke it and I could quit. -
it wasn't so much "calling you out" as it were or dis/agreeing with you, just saying that that specific argument which you stated(and which has been used serveral times in this thread) is crap.

FE is the same old power so its nice but between that and healing flames, its not better than recon,DP, instant healing, and mog.
the only thing fire has over regen is the recov debuff res but between hiber/phase/mog/insp it's easy enough to avoid/handle on a regen
