No. the greatest thing about this game's pvp was the fast paced action it was. making pvp so it is like pve in that you don't have to move at all, everything is lolfiteklubbing and making it much slower i.e. travel suppression is not the way to make pvp better or more accessible.

I really don't know what to say to a person who condones being slowed down when they get attacked or pop an insp. and have their regen suppressed when their travel get suppressed.

    A) Don't get close if you're a ranged damage dealer. You don't do that in PvE do you?
actually, ya you can. and there really is no penalty for not moving. the game's AI is so amazingly dumb that i can stand completely still on blaster and be fine. when you actually imploy movement in your play, which very very few people do, the game stops being fun and becomes way to easy for its own good.

Slowing down pvp is not the way fix anything. gutting TP wasn't the way to fix anything. they could have done a few changes to fly (giving it -fly resistance or something) to make it better.

    for high end pvp, yes.

but if you're just going to be lolzone pvping then you can make a build for relatively cheap (like 500mil).

in the build i posted, you take out the glad jav procs and the apoc set and it is a very cheap build.

you can also make a WP stalker and more or less SO it and have success, same as a regin, but zones don't need any more melees

yea, why would i pick up a power that helps me live longer? what kind of sense does that make?

so full incarnate stuff in 2012

well not supremacy, defensive command i guess it is(whatever it is that spreads your incoming damage across you and your pets)

with -damage gettind DR'd and -tohit being less of a problem, my point still stands that the tank was probably a complete downy and an exception rather than the norm of pvp.

that literally would have had to been the worst granite tank on in game (GE?) any tank who knows what he's doing should be able to fiteklub down 1000-1200 hp of a MM, the only thing they have going for them is supremacy.

or heavies were involved in which case it doesn't count.
  11. PvP in this game sucks. it gets no support from the devs, the devs ignore any and all contact the pvp playerbase trys to have with them, and the playerbase is dwindiling. it is a broken system that will probably never be fixed because the devs care more about making the RP/pve carebear community happy than the pvp community they drove off themselves but,

  12. i'd also like to see the shields get the fire armor treatment by which i mean having, say, shinning shield giving mag 3 stun protection and quant/thermal shield giving either slow res or end/recover debuff resistance.

EDIT: The biggest problem with zone PvP has always been that they designed them around PvE. The rewards aren't even PvP-based in the zones unless you count the lolzy droprate of PvPIOs.
the pvp rewards get DRed to nothing, are not worth slotting, and are basically useless to pvpers. short of glad jav procs and pana's, pvp ios are pve rewards

we did this. multiple times. over a 3-4 month period. pve kickball, random pug in rv nights, ect. it worked out the first few times but then turned into basically the same 4 people every time and we'd end up 2v2ing which got old real fast. when you give people the option to do a system that is hindered in the fun it gives because of the ****** system(thanks devs!)and is going to require a large amount of time spent and a system that *is* getting dev support, much easier to participate in, and requires the brain of a 4 year old to be successful in, they're going to pick the latter.

again, it has nothing to do with players getting their feet weet. anyone who is serious about getting into pvp can get their feet wet on their own because they have the information readily available. you can look up the pvp changes on wiki, you can ask around the boards for build, use search.

However, investing 750mil-1bil for an average pvp build is just more than most people on a casual server want to do. especially when successful pvp normally requires rerolling and leveling a new toon along with the inf. Although one of the pve friendly things about i13 was that it virtually made every build the same in the way they're built.

Also, the fact that you have to somehow build your character totally different for PvP doesn't help. Sure, there should be some differences but not so big that someone who mainly does PvE can't enter into PvP and at least perform decently.
this just sounds like laziness. respecing a second build isn't hard. but the differences are going to be there. However, i'd attribute pver's performing badly in pvp because they get babied by the slow moving, slow reacting and down right stupid AI in pve and being able to fire off an attack chain and kill a mob of enemies while being stationary and slow.

I ask this from the standpoint of someone who used to play Starcraft both against the AI and against players online. Absolutely every mechanic was pretty much the same no matter what. The only difference was the person behind the controls. So, in that sense, while it may take a while to learn how to compete against another player, you don't have to spend the time learning how your powers work just to PvP.

Back when the devs first introduced PvP, there were *some* differences in the exact mechanics, but things and strategies from PvE tended to work decently in PvP. The only real factor was the intelligence of the person behind the character(s).

I don't understand why they don't just keep the mechanics simple.
because that would make sense and the devs don't take kindly to sense makin'

    In that case it situational

Ill has great damage but is entirely dependent on pets for it using confuse and blind defensively but this means that you're very stationary in zones, always waiting for your pets to catch up. the sonic/therm is going to be more consistent in damage, versitile, and a better choice for zones and is probably much easier to play for newbies.Ill out damages it when you factor in PA and forged phantasm but has a harder time dealing that damage in zones(it can, it just takes alittle more skill and practice).

If it were me, i'd just level and slot them both and use the sonic/therm in zones and the ill for arena play. not to say that an ill/therm can't zone, it just isn't going to be doing the consistant damage that the corr can while kiting, and you'll end up just spamming confuse/blind/HE/melt armor for phat disruption. also waiting for your HE'd target to get sapped then dropping your pets on that target is a pretty efficient way of dropping someone.
  18. Quote:
so it seems fairly important to know.
    it isn't.

sonic does good damage and enough -res to amplify spikes. between your attacks and mental armor you'll be doing plenty. and its not like resistance matters when something has no end.

well its not like its your fault or anything.

trying to run an event in a broken system(although, really, an event in SC on a pvp dead server is just a bad planning for whoever came up with this thing) were pvp is already dwindling and no server transfers doesn't sound like much fun. for future events atleast let them be in arena's, since we can turn off some of the crap, or RV where IOs are still relevant.
  21. this sounds pretty lame actually since

    A) its in pvp zone so we get to mess with HD and TS

    B) the zone caps at 25 and

    C) since its all about survival, whoever brings a regen and/or a tank with a decent amount of hp wins
