DR threshold for -res?

Im curious, if anyone knows, what the DR softcap is for -resistance debuffs. Im turning over the thought of a sonic/thermal corrupte rin my head, and so it seems fairly important to know.

Thanks!

it isn't.

sonic does good damage and enough -res to amplify spikes. between your attacks and mental armor you'll be doing plenty. and its not like resistance matters when something has no end.

It msotly amtters because im trying to get a feel for teh comparative DPS of the sonic corrupter versus my illusion controller thats just getting into PvP level now. They both have Heat Exhaustion, so its the rest im looking into.

In that case it situational

Ill has great damage but is entirely dependent on pets for it using confuse and blind defensively but this means that you're very stationary in zones, always waiting for your pets to catch up. the sonic/therm is going to be more consistent in damage, versitile, and a better choice for zones and is probably much easier to play for newbies.Ill out damages it when you factor in PA and forged phantasm but has a harder time dealing that damage in zones(it can, it just takes alittle more skill and practice).

If it were me, i'd just level and slot them both and use the sonic/therm in zones and the ill for arena play. not to say that an ill/therm can't zone, it just isn't going to be doing the consistant damage that the corr can while kiting, and you'll end up just spamming confuse/blind/HE/melt armor for phat disruption. also waiting for your HE'd target to get sapped then dropping your pets on that target is a pretty efficient way of dropping someone.

(A few people around know it better then I do and they can correct me if i'm wrong)

Per my understanding, -res is applied to the person's resistance before DR. So a squishy with a res shield that sits at the resist cap 75%, the negative res is applied to that number, then DR kicks in. So if you get hit with -40% res, you get dropped to 35%, then get hit with DR.

So they're useful, but they're not terribly overpowering. If it was applied to the post-DR number, people would be constantly in the negatives.

If Luxun is correct (Not saying you aren't cause I don't know), it seems like the initial -resistance (In your case melt armor) wouldn't do a huge amount, but then the sonic attacks after that would help quite a bit.

That would make sense. I will stick with the ill/ build, I think, but I appreciate the input, and I especially appreciate the information. Always good to learn how these systems work, no?

I have to say, this game has a better PvP community than almost anywhere. A smaller one, but much nicer.
