I think it really depends on what power sets you're giving them. Some power sets can get absurd when ramped up to certain enemy levels.
-
Hmmm. Now I'm wondering if I'm crossing the line by having a villain who is in love with her brother...

I just got a cool idea for an arc.
Your villain is contacted by some desperate teenager, who is having troubles at home. He's in a phase of his life where things get angsty and he starts loathing the world around him. You aproach him irritated, just to inquire why he's being a pest.
This mission arc will focus on you "mentoring" this troubled youth into a new villain of sorts. I think I'll focus on the villain showing this contact what REAL villainy is about, and how to take things waaaay too far.
Some ideas for missions here:
-Example mission. You show the contact "how its done"
-Saved from redemption mission. You intercept help for the contact, like his parents or a psychiatrist, because he's in a phase where he can be molded too become a reaaaaly evil person, much like yourself. "Helping" is usually not a villains fortay, but you're helping him become helplessly evil : D
-Mentoring. A mission co-op with the contact, showing him the ropes.
-A new villain is born. Final story mission will probably star the contact in his new super villain visage. I'm hoping this could be a peak for the dynamic "growth" of the contact.
Oh, man, now I'm really thinking about this. It could be good.

If you actually make that, I will definately give it a play. -

People logging need to 'quit team' to clear their spot though, else they are still considered part of the team.
[/ QUOTE ]
Found this out the hard way. Had someone leave and another disconnect. Leaving just me and another tanker for the last mission and a half. We couldn't figure out why the enemies were overwhelming us so until the guy who got DCed suddenly logged back in as part of the team and I was like "What the heck?!" -
I don't think the randoms work as well as putting the individual enemies in the group. Because that random minion only counts as one possible enemy next to your customs. Rather then all the enemies it could bring up.
Case in point. I made a group of renegade lost. I have 2 custom minions, 2 custom lts, and a custom boss. Primarily so they can be fought up to level 50. I put in random lost and played the mission at a level that regular lost would appear at and I saw a whopping total of 1 critter that wasn't custom. -
I have an arc that leads up to defeating a hero and exchanging him with an evil alternate universe version of himself. Basicly you bring a new villain into our world while leaving the hero in another world where they'll think he's a villain and arrest him. Also you make it look like Nemesis did it, since everyone assumes everything is a Nemesis plot anyway.
-
So would this make Chimera Ninjas a no no too since they also use Caltrips?

No. No. No. No.
First, every mission holder having to "edit" and "resub" their arc would be a tremendous load on the MA. Talk about lag, and that is assuming that you haven't encouraged them to make changes by making them do this.
Second, this is punitive in nature for an arbitrary reason.
Third, what about Dev's Choice and Hall of Fame? They can't edit and resub, to do so they lose DC and HOF and then have to petition a GM for reapproval. Congratulations, you've just created workload for the GMs. That alone guarantees they will never do this.

From what I have seen lately they don't work anyway so whats the BFD?
[/ QUOTE ]
Good point. What are the creators supposed to do? Petition to have their HoF/Dev Choice fixed for them by a GM? -
Unless they don't really read my story, I'm not to worried about them clashing with cannon. Since for the most part. I've been distancing my stories from messing with any of the official story.
I'll just say they're kinda like Preatorians, but not. -

Looks good, though you may want to add in a few ladies since the normal Longbow NPCs have a few females mixed in. I don't know how much space this would use though.
[/ QUOTE ]
IF anyone else agrees that ladies would help mix things up a bit. I could always make the Swordsmen into Swordswomen. Making an alternate of one that's already there would take up too much space with what's currently in the arc.
As it stands Wrongbow has 2 minions, 2 lts, and a boss. The arc also has a custom contact and 3 custom bosses in it(On top of all the regular bosses I've included). -
They're going to be the main enemies in an arc I'm working on (Got more testing to do on the arc with current changes though). I just wanted to know what some people think of the way I made them look. Did I do a good job capturing the right look for them?

This may seem like an amateur question but why is a 0 star even possible? Not how but WHY? I can understand 1 star but a 0 star seems too abusable (as shown by the previously stated math).

I kinda agree with this. It makes no sense. I can't think of a rating system off the top of my head that allows 0-whatever the max is. Even video game magazines that rate games, in the event that the game is pure and utter garbage can not rate it lower then a 1.
Maybe I haven't been trying hard enough or maybe it's cause I only play arcs advertised here or by my SG, but i have never played an arc that I felt deserved a 0 or a 1. This is why I said before that aside from griefing, I think a lot of people just don't get the idea of rating something. They don't seem to understand there are numbers in between 1 and 5. -
Honestly, rather then making some enemies available at lower levels. For the sake of the MA I'd like to see some enemies that stop at level 45-47 be able to go up to 54 in MA missions. I want high level Succubuses and Possessed Duke Mordrogor.
-
Aside from the maps. I still want to know what happened to Anti-Matter. Cause I could have swore I saw him in the unlockables and spent tickets on him.
-
So.. you're saying the Hamburgler is one of the people against the ban on farming?

So is someone trying to say the Freedom Phalanx is too long-winded?

Looking at what I had to change to make the mission acceptable. Sister Psyche beats out any of them for how far over the limit she goes. The others seem to all stay under 500 characters with the max being 300. Sister Psyche's default text is over 900 characters cause they basicly tell you her life story. -
You can add Ms. Liberty and Sister Psyche to that list. This is just great, I can see people getting downrated for changing the descriptions because players don't realize the size limit got changed.
-
You don't get tickets when people rate an arc if they didn't play through. One of my friends who was messing around during the reactivation weekend 5 starred both my story arcs. The first he actually played through, the other he didn't have time to yet. I only got 25 tickets as a result.

You're missing his point. If someone played his arc through, he'd get tickets for the play-through. If that person then voted a 1 or 0-star for his arc then that'd be a difference in opinion.
But when someone doesn't even play the arc, but still votes a 1 or 0-star then that's griefing. And the author can tell when his arc is or is not getting played by the number of tickets he can collect from the MA guy.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wasn't aware missions gave you tickets for simply someone playing it through. I know I've never received any and most of my ratings have been 5-stars. I don't see anything about it on the Wiki, either.
Regardless, though, I would expect that a large number of people who do end up giving 0 or 1 stars never complete the arc. That's not a good measure of whether or not someone is griefing you.
[/ QUOTE ]
You have to collect your tickets from the ticket vendor. If you've gotten a lot of 5 star ratings, you should have a lot of tickets waiting for you under the claim button at the vendor.
But here I had thought 0 and 1 star ratings didn't give you tickets... but if they do that means I got griefed on an arc that didn't even have any other ratings yet. -
You know, a simple solution would be to lock out voting on an arc once it hits hall of fame. Person won't lose their HoF status but they also won't get tickets from people who like it. Seems fair to me.
-
Can't see what else he could mean and seeing as how that has little to do with the overall game. I don't see the devs putting any work into it.
-
Mastermind set: Mobsters with tommy guns.
Seriously, that would be so much more stylish then generic thugs or mercs. -
[ QUOTE ]
I think something needs to be done with the rating system since there are slews of people voting high-ranking arcs zeroes
[/ QUOTE ]
How do you even rate something zero? I thought 1 was the lowest choice. Does it get a zero if you choose not to vote? Cause that would be kinda dumb in the instance where the person just doesn't care and wants to play. -
Sort of on topic. When something hits hall of fame and it gets bounced back out does it go back to using up one of your 3 spots? What if you published another arc already?
-
Are you talking about having them as an ally? Why not just pick the specific character you want from the Arachnos list instead of making a custom group?
But yeah, I don't think it lets you use custom groups for bosses or escorts unless they have custom critters in them.
