MA/AE= reset and reform team
I'm pretty sure you can invite new teammates to AE missions without reforming. What you can't do AFAICT is back out of a chosen AE mission to pick a different one, without completing it.
And for a while things were cold,
They were scared down in their holes
The forest that once was green
Was colored black by those killing machines
You can invite people to AE missions without reforming.
People logging need to 'quit team' to clear their spot though, else they are still considered part of the team.

Found this out the hard way. Had someone leave and another disconnect. Leaving just me and another tanker for the last mission and a half. We couldn't figure out why the enemies were overwhelming us so until the guy who got DCed suddenly logged back in as part of the team and I was like "What the heck?!"
Suggestion: change the way players can enter missions and can recieve invites...remove the TF style invites and lets us invite players like normal missions.
It's a total nightmare trying to invite a new player to the team or if someone wants to change toons. Many of us spend more time reseting and reforming the team than we do actually playing the missions...this is very annoying to say the least, I'm tired of spending 1 1/2 - 2 hours of play time reforming teams.
Yes, I'm sure someone will chime in with the "find yourself a good SG to run with" bit....yes, that's true...but it's quite often small SG's dont have enough players to fill a team.
