  2. They purged my 2nd account login, as far as I can tell. I know I made an account for it at one time, and even posted a message or two from it... anyway it let me register as if I'd never been to the forums before. Can't remember what name I had the last time... but probably Shinobu, which I grabbed again.
  3. I wonder if they purged the forum name for my 2nd account?

I can't even remember what it was...

    Dumb Moments...

Had a dumb moment this weekend. I respec'd my blaster on Freedom. Before I did, I planned out in MIDS how I wanted to do things. Then I did the respec and picked my powers. When I got to the end, I was dumbfounded -- MIDS said I could pick 24 powers but the game was only allowing me to pick 23.

I spent 5 frustrating minutes pouring over my picks in MIDS and comparing them to my picks in the respec screen, trying to figure out where I'd gone wrong, before I finally remembered, Oh, wait, I'm only level 48....

    I am convinced

I rolled a LOTG +7.5% last night. And it's one of the things I needed too.
  6. I do think people are leaving the AE building more and more. I see more broadcasts for sewer teams in Atlas, and I see new people getting involved in Rikti ship runs.

I was on a ship raid the other day and just as things were about to get started, someone broadcast that they were looking for an AE boss mish team. After several people yelled that a raid was under way and that AE sucked and they should get out of the zone, they replied, "Oh... I mean, looking for raid team. Down with AE!" Hard to tell if they were being serious, either with the first or second broadcast, but it was amusing. ^_^

On the other hand, rare salvage seems to be growing more scarce... so I think some people are adjusting what they roll for.
  7. I tried copying one character from Virtue, one from Victory, and two from Freedom, while I was at it. None of them have shown up.

If my Victory scrapper showed up I'd use her. They're both 50, just the one from Virtue is a more complete build in my mind.
  8. Well... I deleted the old versions of my two scrappers from Test, and copied the new versions of them to Test... that was 50 minutes ago, and nada.

So I guess I can't make it. The character copy tool is out to lunch.

That's today in 4 hours, roughly. Right?

Another question asked in broadcast in Atlas: can you be sidekicked and still get experience?

I mean, good that you're asking questions... but what a question. What did you think sidekicking was accomplishing, I wonder?
  12. Blame the low drop rates. Blame the AE farmers for the increased scarcity. And blame the guy standing in the market next to you. He wants that purple too, and he's willing to outbid you if he can.

You could list an Armageddon for 1 inf, and you'd probably still sell it for 180 to 200 mil or whatever the current going rate is. There's an excellent chance someone has a bid out for it close to that now.

I dunno, man, every time I read people laughing about clueless people who've obviously done nothing but hang out in AE, it makes me think of people who do nothing but end-to-end [x]Fs for the Merits. I'm not saying they're the same thing or that anyone's "wrong", but both strike me as an awfully narrow way of traversing the game, and I personally avoid both.

    AE Stories.

I remember the good Doc fondly. And his flies. Whatever happened to him?

I joined an AE team this morning. Well, I wasn't looking for a team, but after all my blaster is 46 and I'd like to be 47 so I can slot level 50 IOs, so I accepted the invite.

It's a farm, of course, but not a boss slammer farm... it's just lieutenant freak smashers.

As far as I could tell, the leader was a nicely built level 47 tank who could have solo'd the mission (he said he made it because he likes to solo it -- he had ambushes spawning and wandering patrols, he liked to have lots of enemies trying to kill him). He'd invited me for damage, and he had a kin, and everyone else were lower level random people I think.

Anyway the others complained that it was "too hard" and they didn't like the mission, they were getting slammed and stunned, knocked down, and they were dying left and right, especially when ambushes spawned. They wanted to quit and pick something different, and some even left the mission and waited for the rest to leave, apparently unaware that the leader didn't really care if they stayed or left. He was going to run his mission his way regardless. They eventually came back though.

Apparently a few of them missed their precious no-danger hami farms. God forbid that you should be in any danger while earning your experience! And it made me laugh because these people thought Lt freaks were bad? Your typical boss mission is not going to be easier for you.

Of course, if you hovered above them, you could avoid being stunned. But you think anyone but me could fly? Had anyone been to King's Row to get their temp raptor pack? Heh. KR? Where's that?

I do hope these people learn a bit though, I can only assume most of them are new players. One guy that kept getting knocked down, the tank told him he should pick up a Steadfast Protection set. He had no idea what that was and we had to explain it to him and how it might help.

On an unrelated note, I went to RWZ on Freedom the other day because someone had broadcast that a Rikti Raid was being assembled. I got there and... crickets, for several minutes. Then someone broadcasts asking if team 2 was being formed yet.

So I don't announce myself, because if they're just forming their 2nd team and nobody in the zone is broadcasting for a team, then I suspect this is not a well-assembled run. I was on a run only a day earlier on Freedom that was very poorly led, although with 6+ teams we eventually managed to brute-force a pretty good raid out of it.

Sure enough, while I hunt down the various exploration badges (my tank didn't have them) they barely manage to assemble a second team... then one of the teams broadcasts that they've already taken down 3 pylons, and the other team should start on some pylons too... no third team in sight. Nobody calling anything out over request.

I don't think the people involved were using any server channels to recruit, either... at least the one I was on had no chatter about a raid going on.

I didn't stick around to see how that one was going to work out, but I suspect some AE players were involved. ^_^

On the plus side, if they *were* new AE players, then they were trying something different (and apparently new to them since they didn't seem to have a strong grasp of how to go about it). Hopefully they'll learn, too.

You can't have an opinion on objective facts...they're either right or wrong! I have a relative who posted on Facebook, "It's 103 degrees outside and my landscapers are doing the lawn. I'm glad I'm not Mexican!!" I called her out as a racist and she said that was my opinion and we'd have to agree to disagree. (TRUE STORY, BTW) No, she is a racist. There's no opinion involved.

    [/ QUOTE ]

....or maybe she was trying to say that 99% of the people that work hard outdoors in the sun all day around her community are Mexican and she is glad she doesn't have to do that stuff BUT just did a poor job at getting her message across and your the one that is an over sensitized politicly correct nub that jumped on her and accused her of being a racist when in fact her only crime was not acutely clarifying the intention of her post.

If you can't see that your little analogy was complete opinion you shouldn't even be posting your thoughts.

    [/ QUOTE ]

...or maybe she actually is racist, since anyone who wasn't would have apologized and edited their post right away, not having realized how racist they sounded. Your personal attacks have the same inattention to logic as your posts about the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Again...your opinion. Just because almighty you said it was racist, she should edit it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I realize this is going way off topic, but I just wanted to point out what part of her statement was racist.

Saying, "I'm glad I'm not a gardener," is not racist. Saying, "99% of gardeners around here are Mexican," is not necessarily racist.

Saying, "I'm glad I'm not a Mexican because all Mexicans have to work outside in the hot sun!" is racist. The last part of that statement was implied rather than stated, but it was there nonetheless.
  16. That's awesome. Thank you very much!
  17. We've already had one specific IO sell for a billion, and then a billion two.

If only 5% of the community can afford to buy an IO, then a price cap will not change that, except that now it will be 5% of the community who are lucky enough for their bid to go through. There's still only enough supply for 5% of the market.

And whatever cap you set, people are going to buy up as many as they are able to and sell them on the side off-market for more, if it's something people want.

What you really want is more supply. That brings prices down.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
I thought every jackpot was at someone's expense?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I thought that too. ^_^

This morning I'm checking my market characters. With one, I had a bunch of crafted Positron's Blast IOs for sale for, I think I put them at about 4,100,000 each. I don't usually even check what I get for them, but I noticed I'd made a ton of money somehow. Check back through my sale prices... 5 mill for 1, 7 mil for another... 70 million for another.

    Whoops!

Thank you, Mr. Anonymous Doner. Your gift is appreciated!

    Dumb Moments...

So I'm in PI hunting fake nemesis with my 47 tank. I get a tell asking me to come help kill Lusca. What the heck, it's not every day people even want to bother with Lusca, and it's a fun if tough fight. I say yes.

My team wants to 8-man it -- no other team involved. The leader assures me that's possible, and it is -- with the right kind of team. Unfortunately my team includes a lot of mid-level players, including two rads that can't seem to stay within healing range of the melee guys without getting without getting slapped down into the water, hard. We manage to get through four tentacles with many deaths and a couple of team wipes or "pull back, let's regroup and try again" moments.

At one point someone leaves, at another point someone logs in their higher level stone/rad troller. Thing go a bit better then, but what really seemed to turn things for us was when we added a level 21 bubbler who was in PI looking for a team. In particular I noticed with him around I not only had my usual 90% resistance to lethal damage and other resistances (invunerability), but upwards of 60% defense across the board (at least, for smashing/lethal and a couple of other defense types that I monitor). I don't know what everyone else's defense numbers were (I do have tough/weave in my build), but my tank was in good shape at that point. ^_^ We finished the rest in good time with maybe one or two deaths, if any.

Annnywaayyy... after that I head back to PI, where sooner or later someone is advertising that they are a "level 45 healer lft". I pay it no attention, but then someone else replies "A rad should never be called a healer," and they get into an argument about it, with the second person trying to point out how powerful rad debuffs are, and the first person insisting that rads have a really good heal. And then the first person adds that having a heal makes her, "better than any non-healer, like a bubbler or a useless stormy."

    /em headdesk.

    Dumb Moments...

    [ QUOTE ]
The 2 (two) times I went in to AS somebody with my Stalker and my friend said "Dude, your not hidden!" You would think that would be a 1 time mistake, but no. It's the second one that made me feel dumb!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Reminds me of the time I figured strolling into a large group of rikti while invisible, then hitting buildup and aim before dropping invis and going nova would be a great idea.

Rikti drones can see through invis, of course. It went something like: buildup... aim... faceplant.

...Tonight I was hunting fake nemesis in PI. Ran into a team doing the same thing, so I joined them. I got my badge first and said so... team leader says, "You don't have to stay if you've already got your badge." I said I didn't mind, that they were probably really close. A couple of minutes later, without saying anything else... he kicks me from the team.

You know, a "Sorry we don't want help," would have been just fine...

    Dumb Moments...

    [ QUOTE ]
Since the title is "dumb moments", I have one, but it is not related to accolades or anything.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's why I named the thread the way I did, to see what other things people might post about. Otherwise it's just a post about me being stupid, and everyone reads it once and says, "Huh," and moves on.

And you're right... I've done that. A long time ago, but it was very frustrating clicking on the train over and over and wondering why it wasn't working like it used to... I still see people broadcast about that every once in a while.

Another one is resting and then something breaks the animation, so you appear to stand up... but you can't move. Having done that once, and been embarrassed when a teammate solved the problem for me, it's always the first thing I think about when someone on a team says, "Help! I'm stuck! I can't move!" At least 3/4ths of the time that's the problem.

I don't think Pocket D was added with issue 2. I think that was the Paragon Dance Club, which was a different thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hm, I believe you are correct. Can anyone confirm when Pocket D was added? If it happened in between issues, I'll take the closest one.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As I said in my revision, I think it came in with CoV. Which make sense, it's a shared zone. I left the game just before CoV came out and when I came back, I had to figure out where this Pocket D place was.

Pocket D didn't exist until CoV, right?

    Has AE KOed CoX?

First of all, on a purely technical level it's never been easier to find a team. Granted they're mostly very boring boss farms, but still... for those who simply want to kill stuff for an hour, things have improved somewhat.

Second of all... it *is* harder to find non-AE teams, but not impossible. Although I do think the days of just turning on your LTF flag and finding a group that way are mostly gone. I still use the flag, but not many people do.

Third... what channels are you on? I use mostly VU2009 and it's usually pretty busy. There are times when it seems quite, but those often correspond to when hami/ship raids are going on...

(As an aside... I have some characters on Freedumb that I'm trying to get to 50... so I joined, RF2009... figuring that it was probably similar to VU2009 and I could find some non-AE teams that way... I came to the conclusion that it WAS sort of like VU2009, only with 500% more chatter about what was the greatest cartoon/anime series ever. )

Last point... well I don't remember what my last point was. I think it's easier to find teams 1-10 and 45-50, and in between it's a bit harder to find non-AE teams than it used to be. You can always build your own team, though, on any server really. I'm not convinced that radio/newspaper teams were all that much more interesting than AE boss farms. I'm not convinced that doom is upon us. I think things will work themselves out eventually.
