  1. My brother-in-law is from Manchester. Aside from the fact that I can never understand a word he says (only partly due to the accent), I know that I can always give him a gift of mushy peas (I live near Seattle and there's a shop called The British Pantry in Redmond WA that always has it). He never gets tired of that stuff, and you won't find it in an American grocery. Probably for a good reason... >.>
  2. I'm back from my walk. Yay for exercise. Are we up yet?
  3. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm going to go outside and go for a walk.
  4. If you haven't checked recently, you might be surprised. Common salvage spiked right after the double experience weekend... not surprising really if you think about it. Common salvage has been in pretty short supply and right now everyone wants to IO out their newly PL'd characters.

I IO'd my new level 40 tank last night, but it involved placing a lot of bids at a competitive (but not insane) rate and then doing something else for several hours. ^_^
  5. I'm pretty sure the first forum rule is that Moderator 8 is always right.

Rule 2 would of course be: When the moderator is wrong, see rule 1.

So that makes "Don't talk about the forum rules" at least rule 3.

But I'm probably breaking the rules by even speculating on their nature...
  6. I finally hit 1 billion on one of my characters (sorry no #9 post!) and immediately turned around and made an infamy for influence transfer for Xantos, which left my Virtue Villain with about 106 million and a half dozen things for sale... kind of exciting, I get to start from the bottom (sort of) and work my way back up again. ^_^ Meanwhile my main Virtue Hero went from 500 million to 1.6 billion.

I sold a lot of enhancements and made a lot of money. One of my marketers finally managed to sell most of the Aegis IOs that I'd priced a bit too high, but I still have 4-5 left... I might actually have to pull them down and price them lower, although I pretty much hate doing that.

I ran a Khan TF on Freedom, with my fire/fire blaster that hit 50 last week. I'd only done it on Virtue previously. End fight is still annoyingly long and stupid.

I played D&D on Saturday, for the first time in maybe 25 years. So I didn't get much CoH in that day.

Late Sunday I joined a friend who likes to run serious PL farms. It was scary how effective those can be on 2xp weekends... just a simple boss farm on the Dreck map, but with a team built to make short work of things. When we started I had a 47 scrapper and on the 2nd account a level 15 invul/fire tank. My goal for the evening was to get him to 20. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit, I not only got my scrapper to 50, but my tank wound up at level 40.

And we didn't even clear the first island. That's kind of obscene actually. But I guess the good news is, I have a invul tank at 47 already and a fire scrapper at 50, so I haven't PL'd a toon that I don't know how to play.
  7. The thing I like about regen for me is... you never die simply because you've run out of other options. On so many other characters, I've used my heal, I've eaten all my inspirations, I know I'm about to die and all I can do is keep hacking away at the enemy or try to run and buy time... with regen I pretty much always have things I haven't used yet or something about to pop again if I can survive a moment longer. Granted, I sometimes die before I can manage to use them... but I never feel like I've run out of options.
  8. I'm not a numbers cruncher, I read this forum much like I read the Market forum, to get good information. My first character was a scrapper; I have 2 level 50 scrappers and another at 45 and another at 40 and another at 38. I have a 50 brute as well. Also while my first 50 was a tanker, I was fire/axe... relatively high offense (especially back before the burn nerf) and relatively low defense (well... vs everything except s/l/fire). A very scrapperish tanker combo, in my mind.

I have friends who've told me I'm the greatest scrapper they've ever played with. I hate to think what that says about the other scrappers they've played with... but I do know how to run forward and hit buttons until everything dies.

  10. I could do this. I couldn't quite have managed it this morning, but as of this afternoon I'm officially a billionaire on Virtue v-side.

I think like Fulmens I would want to charge 10%... so, 1 billion infamy for 1.1 billion influence?

Also I may not be on for most of the afternoon/evening, may be popping on occasionally, but I could do it Sunday any time.
  11. Chaos, were you the one that flipped it for a 1.2 billion sale? Kinda scary to think the person buying from you could have flipped it again for a substantial profit...

Just for the record, Google Chrome = webdings.

(I used to use Firefox mostly, but for some reason the Firefox on my main computer decided it couldn't keep me logged in to any forum I went to regularly anymore... Chrome has never had such problems, and it seems faster anyway.)

This is true, what you Americans have done to the English language is terrible, you've butchered it beyond all recognition.

I distinctly remember shouting at Americans while riding on a tube train in London because for some reason pronouncing leicester (Less-Ter) square as Lie-chest-er really drove me mad.

Admittedly the rest of the train laughed and applauded, I probably should feel bad about it but why, oh why, do you lot have one of your many accents where everything ends in a question, IT MAKES ME WANT TO STRANGLE YOU IN YOUR SLEEP!

For some reason the Australia accent that does the same bizzarely has no effect on me.
Heck, if we're going to talk place names, let's see you pronounce Puyallup or Sequim correctly. I get to hear people try to pronounce those (and other place names from where I'm from) every day!
  14. Maybe all of my Aegis IOs that I apparently priced too high over the last few weeks will all finally sell....

    C'mon, people! Buy mah stuph!
  15. Early beta's not a big deal to me either anyway. Which is good because I'm only at 48 months...
  16. Well they still could mean "you have the 48th month badge and you've already paid for the next 12 months" too.

Anyway they're talking about the first wave of Beta invites, you're not exactly shut out if you don't get in on the very first wave.
  17. Here I thought the most interesting part of that announcement was the suggestion (however faint) that GR Beta could happen as early as mid-November... or maybe December/January.

I know it doesn't say that... but to me the suggestion is pretty strong that we're going to see a GR beta sooner rather than later. Say, Q1 2010 at the latest, rather than much later in 2010 or even 2011 as a few have suggested.

Basically, I'm probably dreaming that GR could be out by Christmas 2009... but they've left open that possibility for me to dream about. And I'm sure they're well aware of it.

    A. Yes the scheme is intended to keep people subscribed who might otherwise quit for at least a month or three to check out some other unmentioned game. That's obvious, and it's a decent counter if you ask me. Not that I had any intention of dropping my subscription anyway.

    B. Good offer but I don't think I took them up on it last time around.

    C. I read that as anyone with the 60 month vet badge. 60 months of paid time = 60 month vet badge. But I could be wrong I suppose.
  18. Bigger avatars is good. ^_^
  19. 2 billion. That's a deal right there. I'd take it.
  20. Spamtastic You have received and deleted over 1,000 in-game spam e-mails.

Doomcryer of the Apocalypse You've started at least 10 separate threads about how the game is being destroyed or will soon be at an end.

Beautiful Baby You've reached level 50 and still only have a vague idea that there are other zones beyond the starting zone...

Grammar Cop You've corrected other posters on no less than 1,000 occasions...

U Can Haz Mah Stuff You've threatened to leave the game at least 50 different times.

Slick Rikti Accolade Available to those with the following badges: Nerdrage, Gold Plated Steelclaw, Grammar Cop, U Can Haz Mah Stuff, and Doomcryer of the Apocalypse. This grants you the power to "Rikti Roll" enemies by summoning a rikti with an Elvis hairdo who croons "Never Gonna Give You Up," causing an AoE stun effect.

Pushed Too Far The citizens of Paragon have pushed you a combined 100 miles.
  21. Re: Blasters vs. Doms... I like both, but my fire/fire blaster has 7 different AoEs. Granted some are very situational... still, the pure carnage I can unleash with that character is a lot of fun. Sometimes I just want that many attacks to choose from.
  22. I have the table on four different characters, each on a different server or different faction of the same server. I find that all it accomplishes is it shaves off some time when I'm buying, crafting and selling. It's nice, the badges and extra stuff that comes with it are nicer. Plus the table's a bit buggy (if you move around a lot/move too far away from it, the image of the table moves, although the table itself hasn't moved -- been several times where I had to play hide & seek to figure out where it actually was) and it startles me when it explodes.

I've given up crafting generic IOs but for well over a year all I did was craft level 35 heals and defense IOs. From my perspective it seems obvious that damage, accuracy and heal IOs are among the biggest sellers, and level 35 seemed like a good spot to sell them at -- at a point where people can buy and slot IOs and never need to do it again if they don't want to (I do this myself on many of my alts).

For some reason, I could never see a big enough profit margin in damage and accuracy IOs, but I could reliably sell level 35 heals for above 175,000 influence a piece -- usually for 200,000 to 250,000. But I started in on defensive IOs V-side when Arachnos Soldiers came out, and I realized that many of my widow's powers were defensive based. Sure enough, they sold well -- really well. They didn't sell badly heroside either, and after shields came out I think they just sold that much better. I could sell level 35 defense IOs redside for 350,000 or more, and heroside for nearly as much, I think. I'd list them for about 235.000 and see what they actually sold for, but always they sold out in a day or two at most.

I even have 1 character on Liberty that is only level 22, my highest on that server, that I have some 200 million influence on -- largely from memorizing the level 30/35 heal IO recipe then crafting and selling a couple of times a week for about a year or so.
