I'm a student animator (no, I don't animate students, though I've had to once or twice) and I work with Flash alot. I can tell you that the most important part of using Flash, and animating in general, is storyboarding. If you're of that comic book style mindset then that won't be too much of a problem. Storyboarding is important because it determines what sets, props and characters you'll need to draw. Animating requires a helluva lot of drawing. Flash lets you skip some, but it's still a hefty load of work. Another thing you may find tiresome is the animating itself. It is very time consuming and lip syncing is a right bugger for that. Then theres pacing. You really have to be careful with the pacing of the animation, too slow and it becomes boring, too fast and it zips by without the viewer seeing everything.
Suffice to say you have a mammoth task ahead of you if you intend to proceed with you plans. However I am willing to help in whatever way I can, as I'm sure others will.
At the moment I'm working on an animation using Adobe After Effects based on my CoX characters. It should be done within the next couple of weeks.
My advice to you at the moment is is learn your software. Make some quick animations to see what stuff does and how you can use it. Developing techniques can save you time in the long run.
Good luck, and like I said, if you need help or advice just hit me up. -
After seeing Vox_Dooms rendition of Ghost Widower, I figured I'd have a go. Hopefully this version approximates what Vox was trying to achieve.
Ghost Widower V2 -
Ina Adaru Asar
The legends surrounding this almighty and horrific blade are sparse. Its secrets have been closely guarded for millennia. The earliest known legend regarding the sword was discovered on an ancient Sumerian tablet. The deciphered cuneiform tells that the sword was forged from mans deepest and most primal fears. It is said those who gaze upon the blade see those fears reflected back upon them, magnified a hundred fold. There are a few other tales that have emerged down the millennia regarding the swords prowess in battle, which attribute the deaths of thousands to it.
The origins of Ina Adaru Asar are shrouded in mystery, as only one being has ever been known to wield it - the Knightmare. This has led to speculation that the sword was the creation of the Knightmare himself.
The Knightmare was banished to the Void in the late 10th century AD. Ina Adaru Asar is believed to have been banished with him. There are whisperings however that the sword may still be in this world. -
I might give Ghost Widower a go myself, if you don't mind of course.

I'm actually in the process of producing an animation using this as part of the soundtrack. However you're quite free to use the track. Just send me a pm and I'll email you the mp3

The opening melody is the Atlas Park one. It might be that the underlying chords are different to that of the in-game music.
-
Y'know how it is. You play the game and become inspired. The track was partly inspired by, and is a variation on Brian Tyler's 'Summon the Worms' with some extra bits thrown in, including the Atlas Park signature melody.
The track was entirely hand sequenced in Cubase. I still consider it a work in progress, as I feel there are parts that still need a bit of tweaking. But it's still pretty much done. I hope you enjoy.
Summon the Heroes
For those of you who have difficulty getting putfile to load, send me a pm and I'll send the mp3 your way. -
It is always darkest before dawn. The darkness frightens. The darkness is the unknown. The undiscovered. From the darkness fear is born.
A lone figure stood high atop the mighty tower of Arachnos in Grandville. His form was indistinguishable from the darkness that surrounded him, save for his eyes. They burned bright with a violet furore, cutting through the blackness like the last two stars in a cold and empty universe.
Through the darkness he could see fear as if it were a tangible thing. He could see the black tendrils of dread bleeding from the minds of the world. From every mind it came, seeping out from the most primal parts of the psyche. The mass of people in their homes and on the streets, those who lurked in the deeper places of the world, and those dwell high above it, all exuded these serpents of fear. It bubbled up from the cracks in the ground like fissures of black terror. It poured from the edifices of buildings, falling like unholy waterfalls. It snaked across the ground, it's malevolence sending shivers down the spine of all those it touched.
These tendrils, these black worms of fear had a destination. They were being drawn to a focal point high above the island of Grandville. They crawled up the central tower of Arachnos, twisting and fusing. The serpents of fear would reach their destination in him, feeding him, becoming part of him once more.
He was known as the Eternal Knightmare, forged from the very essence of fear itself. He and the black tendrils were simply infinitecimal parts of a greater, infinitely vaster entity that spanned the entirety of creation.
He peered down upon Grandville. This place, this little island city, was the heart of Arachnos and a nexus of fear. It was here that his physical form, the avatar of fear itself, would be empowered. It was here that was strongest. He watched the black tendrils of fear creep towards him through the darkness. In the darkness fear is at its zenith and it is always darkest before dawn. -
Here's an image of one of my alts, Commander Union. Named after the Union server, he's an old school hero with a contemporary feel, and so I wanted to reflect that in this piece. I hope you enjoy.
Commander Union -
Here's a little image of my main, the Eternal Knightmare, that I whipped up this afternoon. Hope you like it.
Fear Walk With Me -
I have a DM/DA brute. I had rolled him in utter ignorance as he was my first toon. Of course my time playing and learning has seen to that.
DM is pretty good for end consumption and when slotted well probably has the best dps of any melee set in the game.
The 3 primary attacks are your bread and butter of the set. They're quick and good fury builders, although Shadow Maul is painful to watch when it misses.
Touch of Fear has been a very handy power for me. Mag 3 loveliness. 3 hits with this will have an AV trembling (purple arrows down of course).
I respecced out of Siphon life and waited for Dark Regen in DA. The reason for this was it took far to long to recharge and the health return was awful.
I never bothered with Taunt as I had Apprentice Charm to get the attention of mobs. Does the trick.
Dark Consumption is a life saver. The recharge is a little long for my liking but considering you get anywhere from half to full endurance back, it's worth it.
Soul Drain is awesome. Jump into a mob, fire this baby off, dish out the pain and let the xp flow.
Midnight Grasp isn't a spectacular tier 9 power but it is a fantastic mitigator. Like Touch of Fear this will hold pretty much anyone, but unlike ToF, this hurts...alot. It's the highest damaging power in DM. Half is burst damage, the other half DoT.
My DM/DA brute managed to hold down a Hero level Citadel solo. I had got him down to about half life before finally biting the dust, and I was lackeyed. I usually suck against AVs but I really surprised myself then. -
I have a habit of making toons that have rediculously grand concepts. There's Eternal Knightmare - The physical incarnation of fear itself. And the Primogen - The oldest vampire in the world.
While neither is based upon historical or public domain characters, they both have traits which are unique. Knights is effectively fear itself and thus has unhindered access to the fear of others. "Godplayer!" I hear you cry. No. I got around that by nerfing him enough to allow for fair RP (Sending OOC tells, blaming Pocket D's dampening field, etc). Should another player have a toon with a similar concept then it's pretty easy to work around it. Knights doesn't have to be the only avatar of fear (though I'd rather he was).
Primogen on the other hand is the oldest and first vampire. However, rather than claim exclusivity to those traits, I made sure that those traits are speculative. He is rumoured to be the oldest and first. Should another player say his vampire is the oldest and/or first then thats fine. It'll pee on my parade a little, but they're entitled to make their character as they see fit.
It's about flexibility. Being the oldest, the biggest, scariest or whatever is just like being an historical or public domain character. You can assign those traits to your character but there'll likely be someone else who does the same. Alot of players want their characters to be uber kings of the universe, myself included. However, I know that can't happen. So I make my toons flexible, I co-operate with other RPers. My toons, despite their concepts, are flexible enough to interact with others with similar concepts. Of course thus far I haven't encountered any other toons quite like mine. -
The RP police also saw fit to add a GodModer category in order to list those players known to godplay. So far its empty of names, but still, I do not believe it has a place in the wiki.
-
I can see what you're saying, but I don't think it is a prank. Childish, yes, but not a prank. If you look at the discussion on the RP police user page, the comments he has posted do not seem to be jovial in their intent.
-
I spotted that too. The quite frankly belligerent attitude displayed by 'the RP police' is a poor reflection on the RP community. True, copyrighted characters and thinly veiled rip offs are unacceptable in accordance with the EULA and looked upon with disdain by most RPers, however thus far I have only seen one character article on unionwiki that is such a violation and that article has been noted as such by others. And it isn't one of Liz's characters.
The RP police's assertation that the characters he's pointed out are unoriginal is based solely on his own opinion. By effectively vandalising other peoples articles, he is demanding we accept his view as gospel. Whilst whomever is behind 'the RP police' is entitled to express their opinion, unionwiki is not the place to do it, at least not in the manner in which he has done it. In my opinion, the RP police's actions are those of a bad RPer in the sense that he is unwilling to tolerate the ideas of others.
I don't know why Liz is found to be unpopular in RP community and to be honest its none of my business. But I agree with Liz that if 'the RP police' has a problem with someone it should be addressed in private, rather than spreading it about the wiki or the forums.
I play this game to have fun. Part of the fun for me is RP. If another RPer's views don't gel with mine then we either work it out in a civilised manner OOC or we go our separate ways. It's all about give and take, adhering to the accepted RP etiquette. -
An excerpt from the Rogue Isles Reporter -
TWISTED IN TERROR!
Rogue Isles Police have had their hands full today as 24 members of the "Skulls" gang were found dead in the Darwins Landing district of Mercy Island. RIP reports say that the bodies were severely beaten, with rib cages crushed, skulls shattered and limbs snapped. Another quite disturbing feature of these murders in that the faces of the victims were contorted in twisted visages of utter terror. In recent weeks there have been several reports of similar deaths in Port Oakes, Cap Au Diable and Sharkhead Isle.
RIP Detective Danny Mills told us "We believe we're dealing with a Meta, I think we can be pretty sure of that. No normal person could inflict this much damage, even with a weapon. What we don't know is why the victims faces are contorted in this way." Said Det. Mills. "I've seen some disturbing stuff in my time on the force, but this is by far creepiest."
Police have been unable to find anything that could lead to an arrest. Police forensic teams were unable to find a single trace of the assailant. So far there has only been one reported eye witness.
The witness, who asked not be named, is currently recovering from severe psychological trauma in the psychiatric ward of Black Heart hospital in Sharkhead Isle. We asked them what they saw. "He was tall, huge! Blackness just kinda... seeped from him. The men... the men were frozen in fear, utterly terrified of him. Then he went to work on them. I could hear their bones snapping." Said the eye witness. "When he'd finished with them... he turned and looked straight at me. I could feel him. Like he was inside me, almost as if he was always there... in my head. I've never been so scared in my life. I mean never! Every night since then I've had nightmares. I see him whenever I close my eyes"
Police are continuing with their investigations. -

Obviously, anything involving the Nazis is contentious ground. It might be a good idea to put an OOC disclaimer in your characters bio.
The Nazi atrocities still carry alot of resonance with alot of people and the ideology itself is pretty much universally abhorred.
The devs erred on the side of caution by using the name 'Axis' rather than 'Nazi' when refering to the alternate universe. I think it would be be more in keeping with CoX canon if you were to do the same, however it's up to you.
It's a question of how you decide to deal with it. If it's dealt with maturely and with responsibility then I foresee few problems.
