Exactly. It's general sweeping motions that keep them from another Marvel-type lawsuit, but you may be able to convince a GM that your character isn't stepping on anyone's toes.
Keep this in mind though: there used to be a guy on Triumph who had a character called Squints who kept getting generizised for being racist (never mind the guy playing the character was of Asian decent). He'd contact a GM, who would overturn the decision, only to be doing the same thing months later. I'm not sure if their tracking system has improved since, but you may be looking at having the same thing happen due to another GM's actions from a new ticket months from now. It could be more of a hassle to get the decision reversed than to try another name altogether. -

Other than that, I've got nothin'. Usually GMs err on the side of caution. You can open a Support ticket to dispute their decision, that's your only recourse. -

Thanks for all the feedback on possible Granite Armor options, guys. This is what I took away from the conversation, after reading this thread and BaBs’ older one on the same subject:
1) Some people like the size change and Devouring Earth model in the current Granite Armor.
2) Other people do not like the Devouring Earth model.
3) Virtually everyone would like customization options for Granite Armor, but not everyone is willing to lose the Devouring Earth model or the size change for those extra options.
Though I feel there is slightly more support for a generic customizable Granite Armor, there is still a sizable group that is attached to the Devouring Earth model. This makes me hesitant to do away with the model, even for the sake of expanded customization. Also, I fear the generic model will bear a resemblance to this legendary “poo-man” I keep hearing about.
I know we always say we can’t make everyone happy, but this really looks like an issue where a bigger time investment will make a lot more people happy. I will take both increased customization and Devouring Earth model proponents into account if there is time allotted to work on Granite Armor.
Also, I should remind everyone that at this stage, I can’t even attach the typical Soon™ label to this project. It is a feature I am looking into, and it does not currently have a release date.
Count me as one of those players who is saddened that progress is being retarded by those unwilling to let go of the DE avatar. I can understand where they're coming from, but being able to customize a swappable avatar is going to take FAR more work than making GA more akin to Crystal or Brimstone armor, which already have swappable textures and customizable colors, without replacing the character's avatar outright.
Perhaps making an additive armor that has a similar L&F to the GA avatar might be a compromise? It wouldn't alter the size of the character, but it would allow for customization.
OTOH, if a system were developed that DID allow for customization of swappable avatars, it would also mean that avenues for Kheldian customization could be re-investigated, although as a part-time Kheld player, that's farther down on my wish list than being able to customize GA.
Edit: of course, customizable Power Pools, APPs, & PPPs might be a nice interim consolation prize -
Quote:I understand what it is, but now in better context, understand what you meant by "RMT Zones."RMT = Real Money Transfer. You know the spammers that sit in Market and say for $$$$ you can get power leveled or billion inf.
They tend to hang in markets, ae, by trainers or by the trains... you know where people are in amass. since the local chat is short range.
What did you think RMT was? -
Neither set of grandparents live close, and the ones that don't live out-of-state are afraid they're going to cause harm to our child somehow (haven't held a baby since my wife was small). I've got friends that have volunteered, but haven't put them up to their words yet

I think one of the best progressions I've had making a character is working so far undercover as a Resistance fighter that I unwittingly had to take down Resistance members to keep my cover until my big move at the water treatment facility. I do remember that.
It was just a shame I went to lvl 20 almost solo so I wouldn't outlevel my contacts before the end of their arcs -
Quote:Perhaps I'm looking back with nostalgia-covered glasses, but I remember a time that you weren't so juvenile and cantankerous. It's like either the years have made you very trollish, or someone else is using this account, because it's like you're a completely different person than what I remember. TBH, it makes me think that you "DGAF", Mr. "CoH Canon"I don't get why you guys think there's only two speeds:
1. CS Silence
2. CS Admin Spam
Why not find a happy middle ground: Professional, proof-read, delivered messages designed to increase social awareness without imposing on the players.
It's not a big deal. Just makes me think Zwill DGAF. -

Seriously though, all of the positive things I'm hearing about this movie make me want to see it. However, having a two month old is rather detrimental to me seeing movies these days (movie cost + babysitter costs) :/
Will have to put it in the Netflix queue when I can -

It's quite relevant to the topic. Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King, finds out about another holiday called Christmas and tries to take it over. Kidnapping and hijinks ensue. And it's better than thinking over the retail holiday crawl.
Personally, instead of Christmas leaking into Halloween, I think it should be the other way around. Tell that red-clad fat man to shove it up his stocking! -
Quote:Tim Burton called; he wants his bit backHalloxmas? Where witches sing "Oh Halloxmas Tree"? And Frankenstein's monster punches holes through your wall to leave tidings of candy corn and wooden trains? Wooden trains, I might add, that were crafted by werewolves who wore green pants and dingle-bell slippers. The halls are decked with mummy wrappers and the tree topper is a little ghost.
Edit: beat to the punch by DreamWeaver -
Quote:Been saying the same thing since the '90s. If it's a bad economy, they'll use the "head start" notion as an excuse to get back in the black; if it's a good economy, they'll use it to try to drum up even more profits. As the winos say, "It's 5 o'clock somewhere" (aka: they'll always have a good excuse). Can we atleast wait till the day after Thanksgiving to start putting up X-mas stuff? It's the 12 days of Christmas, not 3 months.
I guess some people are thankful that they can worry about ChristmHanuKwanzkia already. But not me. I want to eat my candy, then my turkey and then worry about all that holiday bollocks. -
Quote:True, Inherent Fitness and Fitness are two different pools, with different powers in their respective pools. To make an even analogy, they'd have to make an entirely new version of the whole Stone Armor power set to use this mechanic...Actually, huge difference from Stamina. They are not giving stone armor another power, just changing how it works if they customize granite. and as it would be changing from a costume model swap to a graphics effect, not sure if they could make I work like you suggest anyway.

Quote:Seriously? Did you buy this account from the original Xanatos or just suffer massive head trauma during my previous hiatus?Nice try. You mentioned the hair growing after you die as indicative of the real world, not CoH. You're just back peddling now.
OMGosh how foolish do you look. -
Quote:NPThanks
Obsidius for the info i appreciate it.The only issue I have with GA after some IO sets and taking the above powers is jumping, but there's no way around that without ~ 100 Kinetic users casting Inertial Reduction on you
-
QFT. I've overcome some of the penalties with IO sets that give run speed and recharge bonuses. Obviously, slotting Fitness powers like Swift and Stamina, and taking Hasten will give you some mileage also.
-
There have been mumblings (recently from Tunnel Rat) that they might change GA to use a customization model that's more akin to the other armors in the Stone Armor set (ie: wouldn't replace your character's avatar wholesale, which is the current problem with adding customization to this power). BackAlleyBrawler spoke as much of such an idea when he was still working for NCSoft.
In short, it's on the dev list of "Things to Do", but don't hold your breath until you see something on the Training Room. -
Tex sure knows how to make an interesting, fun read into a truly joyless over-analysation of someone else's concept build
To the OP.... interesting what you've done here. Obviously (coughcoughTex) not truly a Scrapper build, but I might have found something to try out while I wait for Titan Weapons -
Quote:QFT (more info here). I suspect that this was done to keep just any free account from creating a SG, especially in regards to related SG bases (which take up DB space and a map instance). Allowing any free account to do this could quickly bog down the DB with one-time SGs that might never get used again."Truly" Free players cannot - its a Tier 2 unlock, like tells and trading. You have to have spent some cash in the Paragon Market. As far as I can tell, any amount will do, as you get a "bonus" token for your first purchase - so $5.00 will get you that.
Paying rent for Premium players, OTOH, is a but of a quagmire :/ -
Quote:QfTi agree with the "needs no reply" suggestion.
This really tells the forum folks a lot about the customer relations of the city of heroes team. The community appreciates the communication, and it drives up the amount of communication. All of the city of heroes team deserves applause especially zwillinger, beastyle, and freitag. Thank you guys so much.

It technically isn't broken, so it isn't a bug to be fixed. You're requesting e feature enhancement.

What if I could turn Coke to Pepsi? Would the cola wars be over?
-
The person giving you this information was probably sniffing glue. DC would never approve anything not on their own MMO, and even if they did, NCSoft would not have the right to use those characters without entering into a very public, legally binding agreement of some sort.

I think on one of the UStrems, Posi said they knew Who Would Die before they even started writing the missions (IIRC).
