I looked in the forums and I didn't see any specific topic so I thought I might ask it here.

Can FTP players join SG's..I was asked this question the other night and just want to be sure before answering the question.

Nope.

Premiums also can't pay the rent, but seem eligible to join.

Only VIPs can pay the rent or create'em.

That's a bit of an oversight if I ever saw one. A lot of people may be returning to dead SGs and want to pay the rent to get things up and running again.

For those o' us who monitor and answer questions in the Help Channel, we've been seein' this quite a bit.

Thanks Cobalt and Stray Kitten for the response. I was able to get a ftp player into my SG but he was unable to pay the rent. I suppose the easy answer would be to borrow a VIP player who can pay the rent, for those without a VIP player already there, but this seems to be a time consuming and monthly process.

"Truly" Free players cannot - its a Tier 2 unlock, like tells and trading. You have to have spent some cash in the Paragon Market. As far as I can tell, any amount will do, as you get a "bonus" token for your first purchase - so $5.00 will get you that.

QFT (more info here). I suspect that this was done to keep just any free account from creating a SG, especially in regards to related SG bases (which take up DB space and a map instance). Allowing any free account to do this could quickly bog down the DB with one-time SGs that might never get used again.

Paying rent for Premium players, OTOH, is a but of a quagmire :/
