He meant to miss the kid AND the guitar!
That is definately one of my favorite movies... THAT is how a car chase should be!
And the piano definately has play left!

Must have been because the thread was so OT, and there was a whole other thread specifically designated for the Marvel disucssion. Just glad the thread's back on track.
As far as "the end of CoX", it will be over when players start leaving. Saying the game is dead is like telling Ray that the piano has no play left in it. And look what happened there(if anyone gets the reference I'll be suprised).
I for one don't plan on going anywhere for a while. If all my coalition mates were to leave tomorrow, I'd start thinking. But besides the game itself (which is still very enjoyable IMHO), it's also the people that keep me playing. CoX is where all me friends are -
On another note, my money's on the 5th Column, given the amount of teasing we've been given for the past few months. Although I would be pleasantly suprised if I am wrong

Are you taking resources away from CoH/CoV?
Cryptic has a team of programmers, artists, designers, and producers dedicated solely to creating and maintaining both products. The studio will continue to update both titles with new content, including a multi-year storyline, a new gameplay system that allows characters to craft Enhancements and Costume pieces, brand new missions, and much, much more.

Can you tell us if the jetpack will remain visible or will it vanish when the 30 seconds is up. Obviously the power benefit would vanish after the 30 seconds but.. just hoping there's a way to keep it visible for those characters who want that option for their costume.
[/ QUOTE ]
From a powers/animation standpoint, the backpack geometry fades away after a period of non-use. I do not believe the geometry is available as a 'Cape' option so it is always present, though. I'm not Jay, though, so I could certainly be wrong!
[/ QUOTE ]
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
I cannot begin to exress my displeasure over the notion that the jetpack will be an acvtual jetpack.
DON'T DO IT.
Having a jetpack means we'll ave mystical magical wizards flying around on them... or not, because they don't want to 'break character".
Demons with jetpacks?
listen, make it a simple non object animation, something I can work into my character even if it's called "jetpack".
I'll explain.
many of my characters use prestige power slide. However, not all of them do.
When a character can manipulate certain energies or the like they're more likely to use powerslide,
Other characters, those who simply "run" or do not have the abilitiy to manipulate said energies, use sprint.
The prestige Powerslide can be turned into MANY different things. It's that open ended.
It could come from a mutants abilities, a magical spel, heck, a pair of techno shoes... either way, all origins can incorporate it into their design.
A jetpack would be flat out stupid on a great many characters and would force people to choose between suspension of disbelief and convenience.
That is a BAD choice to push onto players.
[/ QUOTE ]
I doubt the jetpack geometry will be persistant after the power is used, much like the "Jingle Jet" or the Sky Raider jet temp power. Although I agree with you on the point that the Jump Jet geometry should not stay after the power is used, I am still hoping that actual jet pack models will apear as "Back Options" for I8. My tech-themed character could really use one -

Well, I thought there could be a chance to "reward" people who have been playing for almost 3 years instead of guaging them. It seems like this is the perfect thing to introduce into a rewards system, but you're right, why give something away when you can charge for it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow... I mean really... Wow. They intend to give a veteran rewards system, but because they want newer people to have a chance to get this stuff they're going to charge a measly ten bucks for it and your complaining because "You've already paid your dues"... Well I for one will happily pay my ten dollars in addition to accepting my 2.5 years worth of veteran rewards for playing since the game started. I certainly don't mind whatsoever. Thank you for your hard work Devs in making things I would actually like to pay money for. =)

Comparing "Reward A" to "Product A" isn't really valid anyhow. They're two different things with two different perks.

$9.99 is great for the online buy
However, my wife likes collecting the boxes, so whereas I will probably purchase the code online (depending on how much I save or not, I may just get the box); but my wife will definitely want a box for the "tangibles".
Any price yet on the in-store box? -

This may have been covered already, but any idea when the Hero side version of the LR TF will be implemented instead of the Hami hunt? I8 maybe?
[/ QUOTE ]
This is a feature of I9
[/ QUOTE ]
You mean Heroes get that -AND- Hami? So they get two sources of Hami's then. That is gonna spark issues.
[/ QUOTE ]
Speculation. Things can change between now and I9. -
Thanks as always to you and the dev team for addressing these issues. I for one don't mind I8 being delayed a little if long-standing issues like the sound loop bug get fixed. Keep up the good work

Bah!
When I found out that you were the rep for CoX and TR, I knew it was about 50/50 odds.
As sad as I am to see you go, I hope you do well in your new duties. TR is lucky they are getting such a cool and professional community rep, that's for sure
Heck, at least you'll still be in the NCSoft family, so maybe we'll see you again at the next Meet & Greet
GL with your new job Cuppa - you'll always have a place here too, so stop on by once in a while. Don't be a stranger!

Wow, this game is really turning into a "cult of personality". With ALL the stuff that is defective, broken, unexplained, unfixed, and just downright wrong in this game, it's hardly the time for a press op and back-patting.
If you guys think way-way-WAY back - to like....last week, the same group of people who went "Old Yeller" on 70 employees, left us paying customers high and dry, and unable to login, for the better part of a day.
So, before any "unmasking" is done, let's see if we can get some TOUGH questions answered, instead of a bunch of "Larry King" softballs.
Let's see if there's anything worth listening to.

Hey Jay!
Love reading your threads. Anyhow, here are my thoughts:
<ul type="square">[*] Trenchcoats: these are already in the pipe for future release AFAIK, byut I mention them for completeness. Just as long as we have a couple to choose from (ideas: modern canvas, modern leather, a pirate/ Reniassance design, 20's style with fur collor, etc.)
[*] Wings: same as above. Choices would include bat, angel/ bird, deamon (think Behemoth Overlord), pixie/ faerie, butterfly, wasp, etc.
[*] Chain mail: maybe too WoW, but I was thinking about this with one of my alts, whose name I borrowed from one of my old DAoC characters. In homage, I tried to recreate his DAoC costume, but couldn't find a suitable chainmail selection. Just make a skin pattern for arms/ torso/ legs with a repeating chain and/ or scale mail pattern, should be easy to doPlus, a pattern could be applied to any costume piece (read: bikinis
)[/list]
More ideas when I think of them. Thanks for reading Jay
Edit: Jay is "teh sexy", too sexy for this thread. -
Freaking. Awsome. GRATZ!
And they said it couldn't be done... LOL -
My only qualm last night was playing my WS. In any form except Dwarf, I was constantly jousted by Stalkers using Eagle's Claw or Total Focus. In human form I was able to resist some of the damage, but the mez on theses attacks seemed to hit 90% of the time. Every time I heard the attack charge up, I knew I was about to get knocked out and ASd. Not much strategy, the recipe for them was joust > Total Focus > Build Up > Assasin Strike. My only defense was to hope they didn't have fly, because they seemed to see right through my Shadow Cloak and Inky Aspect seemingly had little effect.
