Atlas Park DOES give Freedom a bad name. Between the 'LFF' broadcasts, the RMT'ers standing in WW advertising their wares, and the general n00b feeling you get from people who refuse to actually spell properly, it does make my home server look like the red-headed stepchild of the game.
Those of us who do actually play the game have gone into a type of hiding. You won't find us in searches, our channels are private, we start in Galaxy City, and move to Kings Row ASAP. The only time any of us touch Atlas Park is to do our Cape and Aura mission, or the occasional trip to WW to grab something quickly.
If you know where to look, you'll find us running CoP's every Wednesday and Saturday night. Mothership raids on the fly (could be noon, could be 4 a.m.) Take your pick of TF/SF's because we're probably running that too.
I promise, anyone who has had a bad experience on Freedom, it's only because of Atlas Park and the morons it produces. Want my advice, unless they've got a 24+month vet badge by their name, knows how to actually spell their toon's name (i.e. 'John Doe', as opposed to J0hn D0e, or 001JohnDoe100, or any combination of idiocy that makes anyone who's over the age of 5 wonder if you know the English Language at all), and are level 11-50 in Atlas Park 'LFF', ignore them entirely. Don't even give a courtesy ignore button. Just pretend like they don't exist. Your global ignore would fill up too fast.
I promise, there are content players on Freedom. I'm one of them, and I will gladly introduce you to 30 more. -

I should be able to attend.

You know what they say about guys with big hands, right, Turg? :-P
-
I am but a tell away
Though you'll have to deal with a level 47-48 (don't remember) Ice/Therm Corr. It's the only, and highest villain I have on Virtue. -
Thank you Omni! Tell Fili for me, since you can get to him faster than I can lol.
-
Real Life, Smallzies (for the record for everyone)
And thank you Freitag! I'm trying to convince him to do a funsies CoH wedding, in game, but I don't think he's biting on that idea, lol.
Edit: Yes, I do have a pic of the ring, which I'll post as soon as my net connection is more stable, at home. -
LOL Syn. That post made my morning.
And yes, Turg, I said yes. -
Hehe, I did say 'yes' Fey. Though I hear I looked at him like he was a retard when he got down on one knee. LOL.

Quote:Hehe, First of all, learn to spell. It irks (not arks) me that you obviously have a computer, which comes stock with spell check, but you refuse to use it.Note Im just really steamed at the fact that ppl in this game think they no everything it arks the heck outta me. And ppl on this server especially there just like WoWbi players no wounder y i couldnt player ova here.
Secondly, WTF is a 'WoWbi'? We don't speak the language of those that play that 'other game'. It is not 'gold' here, it's 'influence, infamy, and information'. Learn the lingo, friend.
Third, you ask for OUR opinion of something, and when you get an answer you don't like, you go straight for the defense. Way to go there, buddy.
Fourth, just because I'm on vacation in Vegas, and I'm feeling spectacular after collecting a bunch of trading cards for the oldest profession in the world, I'll give you the info you're looking for.
- I farm on my DP/MM Blaster. However, due to the nature of how you've reacted, thus far, I'll let you figure the rest out, as far as a build, numbers, and all that stuff is concerned.
- I farm on my Fire/Kin Controller. Again, I'll let you figure all that stuff out. I'm sure there are some decent builds somewhere on the boards for you to leech.
- I farm on a SS/FA Brute. That's the flavor of the month. If you can't find a build for this, then your search-fu blows.
By the way, I take offense to someone like you coming to my server boards, and starting crap. Keep it off our boards. You started the 'poll', you deal with the ramifications of what we tell you in return. -

I was one of the people in P.I. 2 during the invasion (Inferna Inanis), and I have to say, what lag I had was to be expected. I, additionally, turned all my gfx down to the absolute minimum. Only problem with that was I couldn't see the war walkers 2 feet away from the one I targeted.
Also, Anti-Matter, sorry for chasing you around. I didn't exactly realize you weren't an AI, until I saw Neuron and Dominatrix.
Thank you to those who did participate!!!!! Great fun. -

This will be a long post. You have been warned. :-D
To be entirely honest, Straenge, Virtue hasn't hit Free-dumb level yet. I'd say we're at Freedom 1.5 if we were to put an upgrade tag on it.
I come from Freedom. I still play, very actively, on Freedom. I've got 15 50's on Freedom, and more coming in on a nearly daily basis, because of my group of friends who farm (including myself).
Here's how the story goes, at least from a Freedom to Virtue perspective:
Freedom has always been about getting the levels, the influence, the new toys (incarnate stuff) faster than 'you', while doing as little work as possible, and being richer than 'you' in the process. At first, it was the Peregrine Island/Grandville farming Demons, Battle Maiden's warriors, Freakshow, etc. And this is how life was lived (on top of TF's all that good stuff)
And then Mission Architect / Architect Entertainment came.
In less than a day, exploit farms were built, and very exploited. This influx of old and new accounts flooded the servers (not to mention free server x-fers that happened shortly there after) and people who had never seen a level 50 (despite their 12 mo. vet badges) suddenly had 10 level 50's in less than 24 hours.
Talk about some serious idiots that crashed my server (Freedom). People didn't know how to play their toons, the market SKYROCKETED, and the RMT services suddenly made a killing on selling billions of influence/infamy for like 2 bucks per billion.
Since the AE Debut, things have actually calmed down. Though if you want to play on Freedom, you definitely don't start in Atlas Park, because broadcast looks something like this : [Broadcast] Player Dude: Lvl 38 LF AE Farm Will Pay. Or, even better: [Broadcast] Farmer Dude: +4x8 Private Farm LFM. 40 Million per run. PST.
Yeah...people pay this ridiculous price to get a few levels.
Let's step over to Virtue, which is a culture shock for me.
Sure, your idiots are still present, but if I walk into Atlas Park on my Dp/MM Blaster (which yes, is built to farm, even on Virtue. Certain habits can't be kicked outta me just yet) I'm not bombarded with 'PL Meh Nao!' tells. I can go anywhere, and do my business, be it a little roleplaying in any zone, play the market, or, yes, farm without being bugged.
Again, coming from Freedom, to Virtue, let me outline a couple of things.
Freedom:
- Habitually overpowered toons wandering around, talkin' smack about how l33t their purple io'd and t4 alpha and incarnated toon is.
- Constant broadcasts to give and receive power leveling.
- Unless it's outlined VERY clearly, early on, the chances of some Freedom players taking direction is slim to none. (Not always the case, mind you. But, you'll understand here in a minute) But we will generally kill something pretty quickly, due to our overpowered numbers toons.
There's more I could say about Freedom, but let's talk about Virtue for a second.
Virtue:
- More concept toons running around, than toons slotted for numbers. (I'm still coming to terms with this, bear with me.)
- Broadcasts are, generally, seen with those goofy (( )) parenthesis to denote OOC relations. (As an old school roleplayer, I already understood this concept, but still something to come to terms with)
- Virtue players are VERY GOOD at taking instructions, be it on the fly, or detailed in the beginning. THIS IS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR!! After dealing with most of the crap I've dealt with on Freedom over the last 4 years. I have never seen a group of people do as they are told by a Raid/Trial/TF leader, on any server, the way I've seen Virtue take to direction. The event in question may not go as fast as it does on Freedom, due to lack of numbers oriented toons, but you guys don't give up the way Freedom does, either.
So, depending on which server you're on, and if you're brave enough to play on both, you see a lot of the same similarities, regardless of how different of a community it really is.
RP wise, Virtue is way more laid back. I mean, there's roleplay going on 24-7, in any zone, and you can spend an hour b.s'ing with each other over introductory 'hellos' before actually hitting the mission door, and have a crap ton of a fun doing it. Freedom...Everything is 'go go go', 'faster faster faster'. If you breath, or blink, you'll miss out. As far as RP on Freedom...Yeah...it's there...Just underground, and using those (( )) in our chats will get a you a prompt 'Virtue ---->' response.
So, you see Straenge, you talk about how Virtue is Freedom 2.0...trust me, it isn't. I LOVE coming to Virtue to kick my feet back, hang out, do some roleplaying, and be creative. Sure, I facepalm regularly when I see an Invuln/FA tank with Hover, Fly, Air Superiority, and NO Fighting Pool, or Hasten. But, you guys are much nicer than your run of the mill Freedom player who only sits in Atlas Park and gets power leveled from 1 to 50 in 6 hours.
Bottom of the line, Straenge, don't compare Virtue to Freedom. It hasn't reached that point yet. And if the RP isn't what you want it to be, let me know, and I'll definitely do everything in my power to make it what you want it to be. I'm not going anywhere any time soon, and neither are the people I play with, on Virtue, who are pretty decent folks (including you ;-) ) -
Quote:Looks can be deceiving. All this said, I'd probably team with Dr. G because it sounds like he knows what he's doing. In game drama is uncool, because I like to have fun, but it seems like he's had this bottled up for a while.
Regardless of how well he knows his stuff, or plays the game, or has this bottled up inside and given all of us a piece of his mind in his venting, a sign of a good leader (in my opinion) is someone who can keep the 'bitchy and cranky' to a low roar in teams/leagues and compensate for the problems as they arise with some level of poise and control. To kick someone because they are a 'drag to the team' (I'd like some kind of clarification on what his definition of 'drag to the team' is) without proper, or warranted, kicking rings to me that he'd rather get what he needs from someone, then drop them so the numbers increase in his favor for drops.
As far as this clarification is concerned, what makes someone a 'drag to the team'?
- They're new and not entirely sure how to play a particular AT?
- They are still getting the hang of a particular raid, tf/sf, trial, and tend to make some mistakes?
- They go AFK for several minutes without a prior warning of them not being there? (i.e. Parking themselves in a zone/base/hosp and not responding to tells or pokings for 10+minutes.)
- They're a grievance to the team? (I can get on board with kicking swiftly over this)
See, there's a lot of scenarios that could cause someone to be a 'drag to the team' be it inexperience or that person just being a jacka**.
Only reason I ask is because of what the OP says in his first post. -
Quote:If you're going, Straenge, take pictures for me. I need inspiration, and I want to live the Expo through you. :-DI am noticing a new trend of upcoming Steampunk SG's. Perhaps there should be a sitdown for a future coalition of Steam for all of them?
And a bit off topic: this weekend in Dearborn MI will be the second annual World Steam Expo. Not sure if I am making it this year but definitely going try.

I know this machine is like 3 years old, now, but even with Ultra Mode out, I can run my graphics at the standard 'recommended' and get decent quality out of it. Only problem I have now, that I didn't used to have, is how hot my system is running. Otherwise, it looks great, and you can alt-tab out pretty quickly to go from browser to game and back. -
Welcome back!
I'm no good with numbers, but I can help clear up confusion if you got it. :-P
Happy Hunting! -
