Ok...So obviously I am confused. I don't mean to be, an I have read through the entire thingy over and over and over and I am not sure what is about to happen to me and my beloved toons.
I may have to jump to premium for 2 months because of possible surgery and recovery times.
I have been looking at the side by side comparison
(Them) It says no forum access
(Me) Thats ok. Im fine with that.
(Them) Character Slots - 2 total, plus slots that were unlocked or directly purchased
(Me) So I get two for sure. I get that. I have only 6 or 7 toons. Are those the "Unlocked ones?" Or will I only have 2, and the top two of my list. Which are 50s an IOed with inventions.
(Them) Invention system is limited
(Me) For my two IOed toons that fit with the above statement, what happens to them. How are they altered?
(Them) Chat Channels. Local, Team, Whispers (Tells)
(Me) So...No Broadcast? I can't actually look for teams? I am the Co leader of an SG and I wont be able to work with my SG? Although I am allowed to join one?
(Them) You can join and SG
(Me) But I can't speak with them?
(Them) No in game customer support
(Me) So if you're game is broken...and it bugs out, I can't have someone fix it, even though it was through no fault of my own?
I have other questions but those are my main issues
I bought the boxes, and going rogue through digital purchase. Those things included certain game mechanics and items for purchase, as well as inventions, SG bases and all of that good stuff.
So...My example.
I bought the Box Set for CoX AE edition. On the box it states that I have purchased the awesomeness of AE (Which I never use but still)
I bought Going Rogue and all it's blissfullness and the things that came with it.
So...I guess, and without sounding too negative here. What exactly did I buy and pay for? -
Im having similar issues.
One of my Incarnates has the Storm Elementals. I noticed that one zaps and one stays in my general area running hurricane. So thats something, and I am ok with that.
But my Main has the Ralaaru and I see the big eyeball shooting things and it's impressive. But I also have the brute, and it does nothing. I have even dismissed the eyeball once to test, but I cannot tell what he is doing at all. -
Prostatesman from....The Bowels of the Earth
Deflatesman from Flat Earth
Thats all I gots -
My Cat Chewbacca would become "Captain Chew-A-Lot"
Mind/Thorns Dominator. 6 Slot confuse which works mainly when he is showing you his tummy. Then when you attempt to touch him....Snickt! Out come the thorns. He would also have combat jumping, super jump, and stealth that only works if he can't see you directly. His brawl would be 6 slotted for 3 accuracy, 1 damage, and 2 recharge.
He is not a perma dom. Hes slow to start, but once he builds up enough domination, he will either use it to unleash his full wrath...or pass out. -
I have to leave for 2 months because of other duties/(surgery) that require my attention and therefore I have to go premium...Im assuming since I bought absolutely all of my purchases retail or through the game store.
But since I wont be home, I wont have the ability to sign on...which I also assume means that the things I already have will be stripped...ripped, and broken when I try and sub again.
Which means Im losing my appeal -
Quote:Considdering the average player of a F2P game is 4 days as per IGM and other sources, 30 days....well, thats sort of like me trying to use a movie channel and waiting 45 seconds for it to download. Bye bye channel. That's only for the first 30 days, or the first 15 bucks spent - whichever happens first
I work in an industry where is a webpage is not up in 15 seconds the back button is hit.
Just say'n -
You know GG..I love ya...seriously, your like the spoke person for everything. EVERYTHING!
But there comes a time when even you need to admit to yourself when certain implimented crap is just straight up crap!
Certain aspects of trading are needed in this game. Heck...most F2P games offer some sort, just not through mail or other means...
If you cant see the outcome...just send me a winky and make little to no point. -
Im seriously having issues with Redside content. I rarely find players and on top of that something like GW's arc Im completely stuck on Numina.
So Dark Blast/Pain does not seem to get the job done. -
I am the healer! I am the only healer in a team full of blasters! Im special! Im taking Damage! I need everything I can get and more! I hit a magic Clicky!
Im not a healer! I am Rikti Monky! I am Monkey hopping in piles of dead blasters!

You want relaxing...Ill give you relaxing.
One of my main is a Mind/Psi (Perma Dom) who is suffering from a sleep disorder where she is 98% of the time asleep.
Her sleep powers are purpled out and on a mega recharge. When things are not sleeping...or held, confused or what ever else she wants to do to them...I use the AFK emote and RP like Im passed out.
You wont get more relaxing than that. -
When there is a cat girl on your team you get to make cat girl jokes!

When there is an Electric Dom/Controller on the Team The best opener is always electric fenses!!!!

Quote:Ah...So you figured out early the fly likes the honey. This is EXACTLY why I chat it up during a team of any sorts. More friendly communication means more people willing to follow a few orders, because they've warmed up to the team already. Yes, some people leave due to my chatter, but numbers don't really bother me. If the team is fun to play with, I'm gonna have fun regardless.
Thats my tactic too
And considdering I am hear impaired I find that chat is my communication over vent or toher mediums, so if Im chatting in a friendly manner most people listen and dont mind doing so if I happen to be leader. -
Quote:I was talking in general actually. I understand the concept of speed, but there is the issue of that gosh aweful thing called perception. Im not accusing you of being a show boater, but when you mentioned someone else in your team suggesting that you should not shout out orders, perhaps that was their perception, or they were just trigger happy (Which also happens)I understand your point, but I rarely give directives at all. My katie example wasn't "you guys stay here and be useless", it was an attempt to make it go faster. The two that followed me actually kept the team from doing anything because they were both melee and would have kept my team alive (which is why it was my plan). So we would have been able to meet halfway-ish if they had listened. It wasn't about glory or showboating, it was about speed.
When you say you rarely give directives at all is where I differ. It depends on the circumstances of course, but even depending on mobs being to close, Ill give direction as to "Who to pull" "Main targets to hold" "Where to focus debuffs" and where support and damage are most needed.
I am not the best leader, but i think my teams often times listen to me because while I am friendly about it, that Im working on not wiping the team which often times is speedier than stying to speed through something.
I think if you perhaps established more a leadership role in the beginning, in a respectable manner, then they would have probably done as you requested.
People like to feel special.
Now if I could just get that one member of my SG to just lay off opening with Chained Fences life would just be perfect. But thats why I always stand in front of him using my Facepalm Emote...when handing him a wakie.
You can always lead everyoneThats half the battle too.
-
In my experience people don't like to be led, but they do like to be talked too and included, and if they think you are showboating then they listen even less. Especially in this game.
This is not just random pugs, but even well thought out groups where people play together for a lot of time. The differents is that people in your PuG have probably done something a million times, and with many of the tactics in this game beaing a "Steam Roll Tank and Spank" some people just see some other people as the gloryhound.
I must stress this with all my being....If you are a tank, it does "NOT" make you the leader, nor does being a Tank make you a good leader if you are in that role.
If your concept of leadership, is "I am going to do this, and you all wait, then you are not leading the team, you are just telling them what you are going to do. This is not leadership. However if you tell a controller who it is they are hitting with controlls, telling the Stalker or Scrapper who they need to focus on etc, then you are leading, and also making people feel like you are a leader.
In Bafs and other Trials, the most successfull leaders also need to know when people might not know the trial layouts. As a leader, you need to adapt more than the people you are with, in order ensure they adapt.
Inability to adapt as a leader is the worst kind. It may not go your way, but if you wanna wear the leadership hat, then you need to also understand going into a pug that your team makeup will often times have to influence your leadership style, moreso than what you or they are used too.
I lead things with my dom all the time. But I focus on my teams indivuals (This is not as easy on Bafs and Lambs). So if Im doing the portal quest for Infernal, which works better with some strategy, This will be my instruction.
So if my team is a
~Tank
~Brute
~SoA
~Dom
~Defender x2
~Scrapper x2
(Used because it was my most recent version)
I need the Tank and the Brute to pull Infernal from the portal. I need the Defender (Who was an empath) to focus heals and buffs on our point tank, with secondary or recharging buffs cycling to the Brute. The other Defender was a Rad, so I asked for them to focus debuffs on Infernal.
Asked the scrappers to charge the portal with the SOA (A Crab) While I the Dom held and slept and confused the portal spawns. Once the portal was down we all shift to Infernal focusing on debuffs.
What was different? Probably not much, but we creamed the mission, and everone left. While I did sound a bit bossy, I was also inclusive so I was not "Just doing" something, everyone had a specific goal.
Thats how I like my PuGs, and it's also what I learned from awesome leaders, and probably why I am asked to join TF's a lot. -
So...and im not being anything other than a evil red side type at the moment.
If I want to join the fun...I need to send you inf, and every other guess after that I need to send you 10 mill inf to add another.
Is it possible that A) I could hold the pot, just to be sure B) Write you an IOU? C) Perhaps interest you in some Swamp Land In Nerva? -
Quote:I understand that people don't like being covered in bananas or shooting such unfeasible things as an "ice arrow" at an enemy--and therefore don't like the sets or archetypes, which is fine--but for this sentiment to spill over to someone's perception of actual performance is... intriguing, to say in the least.
Well yes. This thread is more a discussion on what toons people like to play and which AT's or powersets seems sort of lacking. I never really broke it down to the specific powersets and focused more on AT types and styles of play.
In regards to Trick Arrow, I think it just needs love, but it is the ultimate swiss army knife, and if paired with say, Illusion it is a really high performance set. But I think the main concern with TA is that for a controller it works better than being a defender set. Which was in my oppinion is where it "Feels" like it should belong, but other power options do it better for defenders and corrs. But for a controller, this set shines.
But if one looks at the thead closely, Khelds and Stalkers are the forumites least favored power sets. -
Im not big on Tanks of any type.
Im not big on Stalkers
I do not care for MM's and Khelds
Im also not a big fan of Brutes
Although I have seen all of the AT's above, with the exception of the Stalker perform exceptionaly -
Quote:Im seriously going to poke that other eye out!A couple of years ago, there was an amusing mapserver problem that rolled back any progress you'd made before you crashed - it was left live for a few hours before the servers were brought down to fix it - it made quite a few people weep

Quote:The only time I ever found this point brought up was when my Mind/Psi/Dominator made a tank not relevant to the gameDominators. I can't stand how they work, even with the improvements made to them.
Don't let the naysayers fool you, the changes the developers made to Dominators are improvements. They made the archetype tolerable for players who don't obsess over number crunching and min-maxing. Still... For how the archetype performs...
It seems like it can't decide whether it wants to deal out damage or commit crowd control, and it doesn't really have the strength to perform the former and all too infrequently has the power to do the latter. Now, when Domination is running, it performs better than the Controllers. But when Domination's not running... Good Lord... Good luck trying to survive against the odds thrown against you.
Typically, you'll find yourself sucking wind because you don't have enough damage output to outrun the endurance consumption of the powers you're hurling against the enemies hounding you. Maybe your Domination will be back to full, but usually it will still be on recharge. Plus, you attract as much attention as a Blaster with all those low-damage AOE attacks. It's worse than being a Glass Cannon. You're a freaking Glass Pony.
Now, I used to have problems with the Kheldians, but I've since found that the two archetypes can be better tailored for each player's particular styles. There are still issues I have with them (chiefly being their ludicrously low damage output and inability to resist "Mesmerization"), but I've found ways to stop-gap them.
Dominators have few counters to the issues I've explained. Without their attacks and control powers, they're just about hamstrung, so you have very little room to mess around with their builds. Then they have heavy endurance usage, need to constantly sling attacks and burn themselves out, fight-to-fight, often enemy-to-enemy.
It's definitely not casual-friendly. -

No they just messed up during the 6 hours, so another 2 hours was needed. It's not to tick you off, it's just...the way it is when you try and invent new content.
