  1. Okie. So, I think swapping damage for style...or theme which could be cosiddered style or finess is important for me in many cases.

My blaster Hexsing, is Dark/Mental, and while not stylish and swirly as DP, which has some cool looking animations, I did swap damage output for my theme, which was tossing curses and hexes.

So what I did was procced my powers. In my tentacles I didn't even slot for damage or imob but for -to hit debuffs, and I thre devastations in my blasts, or lockdown in my abyssal gaze. Even in my self heal I put in theft of essense and one devastation chance for hold.

So I don't have the damage output of other blasters, but I traded that in for theme, which is litterally just disrupting enemies!

Funny thing is that it's working really well and she is super fun to play.
  2. It depends really.

    I have tried them all.

My Grav/FF/Psi Controller uses Diamagnetic. The theory is to lower their accuracy so that my friends and myself spend less time being hit.

On my Mind/Psi/Fire has access to all of the old interface options, and I find she uses Diamagnetic and Reactive the most. Mainly because she already has a regen debuff, and a defense debuff, so a resist debuff is always welcome.

My Blaster Dark/Mental/Electric, uses Diamagnetic Core with 100% - to hit, because combined with my fast recharging dark powers, and Diamagnetic stacking 4 times, that is a lot of -tohit, which makes my defenses better.

My Empath/Defender uses Reactive because she needs all the help damage wise she can get.

    Those are my only incarnates.

Overall though, Diamagnetic is my favorite one. It's reliable, and I find it works on all of my toon excellently

Sort of...but needs to be a touch fatter, with a slight curl.

Wait...thats not even for funny giggles. I seriously want this!

    Make it so!
  4. This actually brings up a good point regarding my current funk in CoX. I keep making toons and testing them..I get through a dew DFB trials and delete them.

So testing has led to me deleting many piles of toonage. I still can't find something interesting to play...

    So Test = Delete

    I want a skunk tail...which could have a squirrel tail option...either way..I want one.
  6. If you want a nice, solid, surviving blaster take Dark/Mental, or Dark/Energy

Dark by it's nature has -tohit, an aoe imob, knockback, a 3 mag hold, and a self heal. My attack chain is... Dark Blast+Gloom+Abyssal Gaze+Drain Life. I use the tentacles and the knockback to remove enemies or imob them.
Mental is good because of Drain Psyche, Subdue, and it's other tricks, but energy will boost things.

Although a tank mage is fine and well, seriously my blaster has become my favorite next to my dom
  7. My blaster only became super fun once IOed. Devestation in every blast for a chance to hold = A not so dead blaster!

One of those guns with the flag that says "Bang" when you shoot it!

    Umbrella Sword...or mace or etc.
Old mans cane (Oddly I don't know why we dont have it in the first place) "Get off my Lawn"!
Guitar (For Broadswords or titan weapons! You know you wanna hit someone with a guitar)

    For costumes pieces
Tentacle arms (They don't need to be animated or have extra limbs, just rounded sucker thingies at the end)
    Fuzzy bunny slippers
  9. Personally...I use a ton of costume parts. Many types to be honest. While my toons seem to have an aversion to pants, save a few, I have used many styles and am happy with what fits my theme at the time. Although currently Im finding the bulk cheecake somewhat dissapointing.

I prefer simple costumes, with little frill. Ill add a little here and there, but I rarely run around in something bulky or add tons of embelishments from the chest details section. Sometimes I don't even use shoulders options.

I prefer the simple and classic over the cheesecake.

  12. Yup...it is actually is mostly melee or PBaoe and I took none of it. I just took Subdue (A must), Psyche Drain, Psychic Scream, Psychic Shockwave and world of confusion.

It's working very well actually. I got to focus more on my blasts, and I didn't ever wanna be in melee range to be honest.

    Soloed like a dream

But I am gonna respec out of scare and take something else. It's just not a solid power.
  13. So my Blaster Hexsing is built a touch different than other blasters. She is a Dark Blast/Mental Blaster with only range and absolutely no melee attacks at all. What I have done with her is slotted her heavily with procs as opposed to damage.

So in every blast attack (Inclusing subdue and Moonbeam)I have a devestation chance to hold, or a full set or frankenslotted . I also have lockdown in my abbysal gaze and in my (cant remember the power, but it's in electric mastry and it is a hold) Electric cone I have a proc for a 10% chance of disorient. I have no melee powers at all!

Now that I am an incarnate, I took the interfase that procs confusion. So all in all eveything is either held, or held in purple electric bubbles or confused. Which means I hardly ever die.

So I am wondering about scare. It seems redundant because enemies wont attack unless attacked, and while solo I could see this working wonderfully as a soft control, Im even finding it's value to be lacking because of my procs. So I am trying to find it's advantage over say a hold, or a disorient, or now my confuse, because where it sits as a tier 8 power means that even if I exemp down for arcs etc I do not have access to it.

So should I perhaps remove it? Should I keep it? Or would I be better to take a pool power, or something else. Im just not sure the advantage of this power, unless it's highly unresistable.

    Black Friday

Is this the reason I don't have my points yet? But I have my token?
I might not be happy if my points come in after Black Friday.
  15. Ok..So I remember I saved the costume as well in a file. I went to my save screen and it's true. The wings have been removed from the saved file as well, and I got got a message stating something that there is a costume errer. Something like that...I didn't read it closely enough. But it said something along the lines of costume part unavailable.

It kept the little wings and got rid of the tux, leaving only the barbarian battle bra.

    Le sigh!

But oh well...At least she has horns?
  16. I made a mistake. In my original costume, I had the bats aura. I dont wanna make anyone paranoid, but when they came out with the Bats -Combat only version, thats when I edited the costume.

Even then it worked fine. I had my little bat wings! Then upon logging in today if I choose the bat wings the tuxedo will not show up. The same if I choose the tuxedo...I have no back detail options.

Im not happy about this...but it's not game breaking, it just ruins my theme, which I liked, a little.

So this is very current, and only happened with the new update.

Oddly enough when I choose to edit slot 3...which uses the "Justice pants/tights" they revert back to the black plain tights until I select the Justice tights again.

Im not sure if this is a bug or something I am doing wrong

I think it's correct that you were not "supposed" to be able to stack the tuxedos with back options. But it's obviously been possible... I'm actually surprised that your costume would have been automatically 'corrected'. Usually when they make changes to the costume editor, it only takes effect on your character if you visit a tailor with that costume.

So it's curious that the wings just went poof from one day to the next. Are you sure you didn't recently edit your costume and didn't notice if your wings were still there?
I did not edit this costume. What I think happened was that when I unlocked my 4th slot, it automagicly defaulted to my original costume, and then the wings were stripped from both. It's frustrating because I really liked the look.

But I have been using this costume for a month now, and it was fine before the last update. Even after I edited the new 4rth slot costume. I did edit the 4th costume from my original to something else, but never touched the first costume.

Then when I logged in today, they were gone, and the costume was never edited.
  18. So, today I logged on, and something disturbing occured.

Now, I don't want to complain about the costume creator because well, I love it, but something has bugged, and my original costume, is no longer as it was.

I am using the female version of the wedding tuxedo, and have been using it since level 1-44, and I always had a pair of little bat wings. now when I logged in this morning, my wings have been clipped off completely and without the option to put them back on.

I checked with help channel and they stated that I could never have had the wings because waist capes have never been compatible with with the Wedding tuxedo. But that cannot be true. I had my little wings!

I have included my toons Photo just in case anyone could dispute this. But from level 1-44 they were always present.

    Why was I clipped?

    Why was it allowed originally?

Have I posted this in the wrong section?
  19. I am getting the same thing too...so I assume Ill just have to download things later

And Positron still isn't the Superman archetype of hero.

Really, I think it comes down to being Posi or Manticore. These two in the basic premise can be interchangelable. Techie heroes.

I have always said it would be Manticore! I still stick by it. Manticore sacrifices himself to save the others. Being a tech based hero he is the least godlike. Like others before him in comic culture, where a mortal man, with skills not powers stops an invasion, saves his friends, not with power, but with sacrifice.

Plus...the married dude or the retiring guy always gets it. Also...isn't he and Sister Psyches wedding annaversary coming soon?

*Plus. Sister Psyche has been horribly boring as of late and needs to "GO ROGUE"...if you catch my drift.
  21. I have a solution, and no...no one is going to like it. But it has worked in Pen and Paper games and even NWN...which I played for years because the content that could be created. Which similar to the AE was different in the case that you could create entire worlds for RP/PVP etc. The villains that players make will always (When thought out properly) be more respectable than the villains created or utilize AI. Although it is true that this usually works better with a smaller group.

The remedy for me, to respect or create a respectable villain comes down to a few things, which by nature conflict with themselves. These things would be RP interaction (Which is needed in almost any RPG storyline to create worthy foes etc) and a combination of PVP.

RP/PVP has never worked in any game I have ever played where there have been either factions or servers dedicated towards RP/PVP...where conflict is created based on player interaction rather than "If I can kill it, Ill kill it". However this is hard to achieve because there will be some who will participate in the RP portion and some who will stunt the concept by just being PVPers. There can't really be a balance.

But if Villains and Heroes actually had environments where they could interact as both hero and villain with the threat of PVP based on solcial interactions then respectable "heroes" and "Villains" could be created. Right now there is no threat, no chance of defeat, and nothing that can really sepperate a villain from a hero other than what a player posts in their bio, which may never be read, or seen by a hero.

The issue for me is that the interaction between hero players and villain players is that the only interactions they do have are in shared coop zones, or Pocket D, which allow for communication but usually find people teamed with villains or heroes that they would find repugnant...only to get the cookie in the jar (XP, Merits, incarnate unlocks).

On the flip side there are empty PVP zones in which heroes and villains battle for a goal, but this does not lend it's self to being a threat, or character creation/progression as being a truely evil villain or hero with substance.

So long story short, Villains to respect are no different than heroes to be in awe of, the difference is that we expect this to be written for us, and do not have the ability to actually achieve either, unless we RP...and even then talk is cheap if there is no one to challenge you or issue you any threat.
  22. Kill em all! It's time for a new gritty, edgy style of hero to emerge!
  23. I don't want to be catty...Im just mad it was not a Golden Retriever. Call me picky...but Im...just upset.

I'm not opposed, I didn't even use the word "argue". I think it's just kind of a creative writing 101 thing coupled with my personal moving experience that created a reaction in me to your response.

This aside I think I did a decent job offering some reasons as to why things are the way they are (space, not what a bio is intended for, significant percentage not using bio's) and then went on to provide some ideas for how a writer can express themselves beyond the 1024 words (independant website, social media page, request a new paid CoH feature, etc).
First off. I was merely wondering if it mattered at all. Nor did I mention I was for, or against extra space. Nor do I care if one person writes a single blurb about their toon or something like Homers Epic Poem.

My main thing is that it just does not matter. If the fields were increased those who enjoyed writing would use the feature and those who didn't use the space would never know or care that it existed.

It is not like we are talking about powersets, content or game play, but a feature that would be used and enjoyed by some, or ignored by others.

So when something like this crops up in "For Fun" as opposed to the "Suggestion" Forum, I assume that it would be "Fun" for that person, and regardless of whether their writing is complete trash one must remember that one mans trash is another mans treasure. (Maybe like some of that stuff you threw out when you moved)

Im just curious that someone wanting more space turned into a debate about good writing, and smacked full of snobbery. (Not directed at you with the snobbery comment, or anyone in general)

If it's not game breaking...who cares?

Creatively movie trailers are short by design. Functionally Youtube's 10 minute max serves an important space saving purpose. I think these are decent analogies.

As my comment started - I am sure if they look at the data they'd see that only 1% of the characters created in game have a bio at all - heck they might even consider shortening the max length at that point.

I think the bio was intended for a tight and polished teaser - so maybe a separate component is really what should be under discussion. Like server space on CoH for a social media type experience except "in character" - like a facebook profile for your hero. Wait - facebook has character limits too. Well you get the drift.

Thinking further, If I really had a story I needed to tell (or keep to myself?) that bad, I would take the iniative and put up a webpage as someone else mentioned. SItes are affordable and accesible now-a-days so that shouldn;t be an issue. It just takes a little... effort. I did this back in the day when I was promoting my AE Story Arcs.
The point I was making is that you are speaking for you. Thats cool. It's fine, but if you don't want space, or require it, it does not generally effect you in the least if someone else has it.

If you don't write bios, prefer web pages or read other bios, then it wont effect you if they did decide to increase the size.

Unless it somehow blew up the servers or destroyed game play as we know it...it really does not matter.
