I have it on my mind dom along with all the other interfaces. I really would not suggest it unless it's a secondary alt interface that you switch to against AV's or Giant Monsters which are generally not going to be hit with the effects that you have in the first place. The -Res is excellent and the fire DOT is ok too.
However
~Mesmerize
~Terrorize
~Mass Hypnosis
Are all undone.
Terrorize becomes your bread and butter as your main form of crowed control later in the game and although it does not prevent the alpha any damage done breaks the fear and allows for the enemy to attack. It's counter intuitive to have that fear break when you will (Solo) Rely on it a lot
Mesmerize is an amazing Solo tool as well as in groups and one I personally do not want messed with. considdering the strength of the sleep being able to knock bosses out, I really cannot justify using a damage component proc that ruins the potential devistation this power can cause.
Mass Hypnosis is amazing, and while some people may argue because of Team AOE damage breaking it, Solo it's awesome and in groups it's pretty much a stagger which even if broken, drops toggles, stops the beta on a tank or staggers the damage taken by the team, cutting down on enemy DPS. Hitting somthing like Terrorize and then needing Mass Hypnosis (A fave tactic) is just made useless in most accounts.
I would just suggest going with Diamagnetic for a - to hit and -regen. This benefits you completely and should not be underestimated. Considdering both of those of those are desirable it makes the toon just work better in my oppinion.
Paralytic would even work ok but was not my favorite, but if I am fighting something with a high def rating then I will definately looks into switching to it. But you do in thorns have a minus to def..so Diamagnetic is your best bet
Just don't give up your versatility to see damage numbers. -
Quote:To be honest Claws...most woman wouldn't want this anyhow, regardless of a poop-storm or anything of that nature. You know what I've always found funny as hell, extremely ironic, and more than a little sad?
When people decide to fight discrimination and inequality.......by forming groups and organizations that only certain people are allowed to join.
Now, what would be the reaction of the female playerbase if they were told that there was to be a server they would not be allowed to play on because they are a woman?
I would bet real money there would be a ****storm the likes of which this game has never seen. And it would probably be followed up by a lawsuit citing discrimination.
If women were NOT allowed to play on particular server, oh, that's discrimination and shouldn't be allowed. But it would be okay to make a server that ONLY women can play on, and that ISN'T discrimination?
So, I guess if you are adversely affected by something it's discrimination, but if it has a positive effect for you it isn't? Is that what I'm to understand here?
How silly of me to not see how it makes perfect sense to fight discrimination against women by discriminating against men.
Truthfully...and in my experience woman need a little testosterone in their lives regardless of harassment, and many woman just don't get a long with each other period. So harassment would come from people fighting.
Boys like to fight each other all the time and it would only be a matter of time before complaints came in from the Femminist server. It would prolly take a week, but then it would be...horrid.
Not all of us feel that taking the male element out of the gamer base is smart, and as a lot of ladies have already said in this post, the reality is simple...Buck Up, do your thing. Follow channels if things get out of hand, but you don't have to just sit there with a frilly dress on crying cuz a boy had an impure thought.
Seriously...Mature gamers know this, woman know this, men know this, and if either side of the spectrum of the sexes are pigs, then it's because they're pigs. -
Quote:I robbed a bank once. Swan was there and she uses Psi Blasts on me.THIS. I hate swan's look. To this day I'm unsure what her powers are... I think I recall in the game she's some sort of light blaster, but in the comics she was more like a controller. As well, it doesn't convey her story or anything else.
Edit - Hopped over to paragonwiki... she's a mind/kin troller. Again... nothing about her costume suggests that... and her origins are fairly vague to start with.
I love her shoulder cape. It's amazing. But the combination of the yellowish skin and the Tops with Skin (Frost) is not working. Although It's supposed to have a sheer effect on the lower abs as far as I can tell and I like the effect on other toons.
Definately needs updating even more than most of the signatures in my oppinion. But gain...the shoulder cape and her head dress are amazing items. But one issue must be with the cape and the clipping because the hair choice is horrid.
She is supposed to be sexy and ggracefull in my oppinion. -
GW is overall the best. She looks the part. She also frightens me slightly more than Recluse. Even though she is not that tier of villain, Im 100 percent sure she could make him cry in the fetal position! Plus with Darkness/Animated Hair Mastry she is by far the coolest.
Mako is Mako and is pretty much how he should be
Swan (Whos cape I want horribly) needs an update, but keep that cape...or give it to me.
Sally...could use a little bit of an update. No one mentions Sally because she is the one GM that if you one-shot for a badge, you just feel really dirty afterwords. But soemtimes right now she sort of just looks like a giant-ish green wormy thing. Nothing special and quite bland actually.
Even though Ill never kill her. NEVER!
Luminary looks good, although Id love her to be a bit more like a brighter, snappier nightstar (Who I actually though Nightstar was based off of until help channel yelled at me)
A lot of the older level up folks need some love in the graphic department. For example Aurora Borealis...Ick ick ick. -
Actually since the unlocks occure at 20, and Praet has two very distinct AT types
Resistance
Infultrator path
DPS Path
Stealth, Ranged Defense, Assault version, Like in the Praet Arc Maria J gives.
PPD
Hard Suit: Defense/Blast
Investigator: DPS/Ranged Like a blaster
Suppressor: DPS/Debuffs and CC's
We could have each one of those open up as Praet Epics.
Or PEAPS for short.
Second options might be
Clockwork as an epic.
Mender (Heal/DPS)
Builder (Tank, Melee with some ranged attacks which debuff defense)
Those are some ideas. -
Or you...and this is from one lady to another...can buck up, and take it. I mean, either put someone on ignore or realize that people in MMO's will focus on a womans body and you will either feel degraded or simply live with the fact that this is a game in which, like all other games have pervs in it.
Hit ignore, file harassment, and take a screen print.
If the harassment is constant then thats the process. This does not mean everyone who tells you your toon is a hot piece of apple pie needs to get a harassment violation. But as long as you are not just sitting around weeping because it happens, and you generally tell people you are not interested in that kind of thing...then it should be ok.
Real Life Situation.
Im sitting at a bar. Dude walks up, flirts and says something I don't like. I can A) Walk away without a word (Works in the real world, not in the digital one) B) tell him Im not interested and that he needs to move on, cuz he aint getting me, C) Go to security if dude is not leaving me alone, or D) go home and cry in the fetal position.
I mean, You "need" to stick up for yourself. In the gaming world you have options like in the real world, and if somone is making you uncomfortable you need to take matters into your own hands. Which in most cases I listed as above.
You should also take things with a grain of salt. I dress my toon in common super hero style outfits. Lot's of skin, and lots of big hair and long legs. Why? Cuz Im a comic fan and thats just how it goes in my head.
But If Im wearing a short skirt in a bar, I still have the right to say no, and you do to in this spandex wearing universe.
Also wanted to add that there is no way of screening gender in this game. Some people have multiple accounts or more than one person playing on an account. So if my BF wants to roll up a defender on the female server...there you go...you got a man in that terf -
Quote:And the getting shot full of holes while falling asleep in the middle of combat has never come up?
Ah...Thats the secret behind a good story. Her Narcolepsy is triggered by sexual communication....
Kidding. I just find that it works.
During battle however in her "Sleep State" her subconscious acts in a psionic manner allowing her to navigate and function in her environment because of the bodies need to protect it's self and survival even when sleeping.
See?
Pretty neat eh. -
A challenge does depend on my character obviously, but actually the challenge/frustration Im facing now is with regards to IOing and Incarnate trials.
Not that either is overwhelming. But the general thought in my head is that it's time consuming, and the challenge is actually making something new again, and having that fresh happy feeling I used to get.
I have been spoiled by Cardiac Incarnate on my two toons, and now watching my blue bar drop actually does pose the challenge of...I just don't way to play this alt anymore.
Or rechage times because of IO's.
Or IO's in general. Process of buying, making, selling, finding, looking for salvage etc. It gets the the IO stage of things, and then I lose interest and the challenge is to do my best to actually try and play that toon.
If we are talking about general challenge in a game, I would say that anything not melee has a challenge at the moment, with almost everything geared for most melee toon and Veats to have the hands up easy advantage, because of HP. This is noticeable in Keyes Trials, and other such things, where a pulse takes a squishy down half life.
So I find keyes challenging to the point where the returns of the other trials seem more valuable or at least achievable. I care little about getting two emp merits if I spend all my time dead.
I guess the challenge for me right now, is rekindling my love of low game content. The content is good, but once you have had Filet Mignon, going back to Chuck Beef sometimes just feels annoying. -
Just ignore. It seems to work for all sorts of issues.
Or even better...Come up wit something unattractive about your toon.
I play on Virtue and while my toon is pretty sexy looking, I made her Narcoleptic. So when bad RP happens I can just use the Away AFK Sleep Emote, and say Im RPing. Then I just don't respond. -
-
Actually, I found my main concern with the WS. Oddly It was not what I thought it would be which was the knockback. I dont find the playstyle dull, and I certainly like the power options. They are interesting.
I generally build fun stories to go with my creation. The problem with a Kheld's is that they are Kheld's.
There is litterally nothing I can do with the story. So, unlike the blaster, of which I have complete story control, I have no control other than how they merged etc.
I think thats why I deleted my last one to be honest.
Although Im going to stick this one out.
As I said, I am so used to my Dom now that a little different playstyle might actually be fun over the frill of story writing. -
Quote:Thats what I was getting too.My money is still on Psyche and Manti. Look at that shot.
And Manti and Psyche... are clinging to each other like, "OMG, this is it, I love you honey, someone cue 'My Heart Will Go On' as we slow-mo die."
Michelle
aka
Samuraiko/Dark_Respite
Im still 50/50 on which one will go, but For some reason I think Manticore. -
Quote:Ill give it a go. Perhaps I can get into the feeling of it and give it a decent try this time. The Khelds are compelling enough in general. Ill roll another WS to see. Although I have not had much progress getting them past 20Voids are completely a non-issue these days. Their damage is resistable and much less than it ever was.
If I were you, I wouldn't play a PB. They have some demonstrable balance issues, at least for the time being. In one of the USTREAMs the devs said they "will be taking a look at them." Again, I'd suggest you hold off on those.
In general, though, I disagree that Kheldians function like blasters. Kheldians were the first hybrid AT, before villains came around. PBs were intended to be able to fit whatever role the team needed, being able to tank quite well if the team was heavy on damage and damage very well if the team was heavy on support. It didn't work out too well, especially if the PB was solo.
Warshades, on the other hand, are the closest thing you'll find to a tankmage. Played and built right, a Warshade can be a dominator with better than scrapper survival and blaster AoE damage. When you put enough recharge into them, you sit at 85% resistance to everything, all the time, as well as hitting your own damage cap and being followed by three damage dealing pets. For more details on all that, I'd point you to my MFing Warshade guide. The link is in my signature. -
Quote:The tutorial happens at level 1. I think it's a safe bet the story arc will take place after level 1.
Ever notice how there is no mention of Dr. Vahzilok after level 20? That's because both the new Positron TF and teh story arc you fight him in both conclude by level 20, and Dr. Vahzilok has been defeated and is no longer a factor.
The game's timeline is very much based on your level. Level 20 story arcs happen before level 30 story arcs, and the tutorial happens before any of them.
Back Alley Brawler can appear in the tutorial and be killed off in a higher level story arc later because the tutorial has already happened.
This is very true -
Quote:Actually. That was my mistake. I was thinking of the PB more than the WS and I should have clarified that. The PB is what I was mainly looking at. I know that the WS is negative energy.Warshades are not heavy on knockback and they do not do energy damage. You seem to think the PB and WS are very much the same animal. That could not be farther from the truth.
But I do considder them in my head as a blaster type. Ranged damage etc.
So I was sort of wondering if perhaps I should stick with my Blaster, or look more to the Khelds.
The Blaster is fine as she is, but I was almost wondering if something different might be fun. I have truthfully not played out to many Khelds.
I know I don't like spawning voids at all. Thats why I originally went with the blaster, but my mouse button did linger over the two Khelds for a long time. -
I have done both a Grav/FF Controller and a Grav/Fire Dom.
Gravity has it's weak points, but the only one I really noticed in Doms was propel and that was just ecause of damage and the slow animation not building domination effectively.
Dimension shift is no more effective or less annoying on a Controller as it is on a Dom.
Propel is always too slow and while the damage on a troller is better than a dom it's slow and necro kills to often. However works well on AV's and EB's and has it's place. But there is no point in thinking it's better on a controller if the enemy you fling it at is dead already which you will see a lot if it is an essential part of your chain in later levels.
The Imobs and Hard Controls are amazing on both doms and controllers.
Worm Hole in Domination has a much better chance of landing on a Dom.
Im not seeing much of a concern here? Grav is not resisted well by enemies amd Doms make it much less resistable in Domination.
So generally speaking I can't say that Grav is bad. It has no sleep, confuse, or fast attack method, but at least 3 skippable powers, freeing up more attacks from assault.
(Warning. Not trying to open a can of worms, or derail this thread...But)
Generally speaking, I cannot, and I mean cannot understand why the people who freak about Gravs Control issues want Illusion as a Primary for
Doms.
It has even less control and powers that could be effected by domination, minus a slight boost to DPS. Unless you break the signature powerset that is illusion by removing one of the invis. Because the pets wont or should not be causing domination effects considdering the powers they use are NOT coming from you.
So...I just don't get why people say Grav is bad, but desire illusion. -
I made an Energy/Ice Blaster last night and my thoughts were on why I would make an Energy Blaster over a Warshade as both have knockback, energy damage.
Obviosly I know the difference between the AT's with WS being maybe more survivable, or versatile. But both are squishy for the most part depending on how you build them.
Since KB is not my favorite alternative status effect, I am wondering which I may enjoy more.
Ice secondary is what I chose for Thematic Purposes, but Im begining to wonder if the blasters ability to damage is outweighed by the WS/PB versatility.
I have just been playing the butt of my Dom and my Controller so much I feel like I need to change it up a little. Something new and fresh. -
Sister Psyche and Manticore look terrifyed! She Especially.
However like all superhero resurections, She could easily be "Brought Back" as it seems is very common with Psychic toons.
Plus...she does look freaked out in that picture.
BaB would be my second choice.
Although Id like to see Numina at least get punished for the unfun aspect of her TF. It's just unfun and needs a revamp! -
Quote:Yes...I did the 5 slot version of it.The Chance for Placate proc only serves one good purpose that I can see.
You see, some Purple IO has to be the Least Valuable on the market. And, I'm pretty sure that = Chance for Placate.
I just 5 slot the set (leaving out the Placate chance IO) and move along.
The Placate was on my list of things not to buy but then I found one so I added it.
However on a side note. I am one of those people who like to luck upon a very rare reward on Bafs and Lams. Since this happens occasionally I get commons and rares, so I have now all the Destiny, Interface at tier 2 oe three. So if I use Reactive the Placate will remove the DOT aggro if I use it. -
Well...I must say I do use it before, during, during and during a battle. It staggers damage caused to a tank/AOE quite well, and halts many other issues.
Yes AOE's break it, but it still works. I mean the entire concept to me of a sleep even in an AOE battle is to reduce enemy DPS, Drop Toggles, and considdering many toggles drop when hit by sleeps it works well, and not many thing can resist sleeps.
If I am placateing them and then not taking damage it works ok.
I usually open with Terrorize and then hit the AOE Sleep...and it seems to be working.
I guess my thought is that considdering it's the only purple sleep has...placate seems to be...well again, I have no idea. It;s like it should have a chance to slow? Or a chance to Stun. But even then since the sleep duration of Fortunata's Hypnosis is improved I would rarely see the effects of it's proc...almost never
But the chance to placate on the only purple slow just does not seem to make sense unless you have the ability to crit hit.
Although the set bonus put me at perma dom soooo...well I wont complain.
It just seems pointless -
Ummmm. I think plant will give you a broad spectrum of how Controll sets work. It has 2 imobs, 2 hard controls, a confuse, a sleep, magic tree pseudo pet, Carrion Creepers which is a Psudopet with awesome control...and a real pet.
So it does have excellent advantages in learning control.
Remember that things must be near the ground for it to work though properly.
Earth is also excellent for things.
Key tips for plant.
~Never open with you AOE Imob. Only do it if a tank has aggro. It's just a bad idea considdering it's such a broad AOE that alpha stikes will kill ya.
~Seeds is your bread and butter
~Solo your Spore Burst Sleep will be invaluable to you to get your hard single target hold out.
Pair with something like Thorn or something that drop things out of flying. Air Superiority can help fill that gap should you find this a common issue -
Quote:I think the idea behind it is that Sleeps don't usually work that well on teams or with pets. You put a bunch of enemies to sleep and immediately a pet/teammate wakes them all up again. With the placate proc, when they do wake up, there's a chance they wont attack you.
.
Good enough. I use sleeps pretty much 4 times a battle. Considdering sleeps drop toggles (Like Fake Nemie FF's) so I always use my sleep.
So it it's making me placated so I can not take damage then Im fine with that,
Now If I take stealth will it put me back into stealth like a Widow? -
I have no clue what Fortunata's Hypnosis does, nor have I noticed it doing anything.
My mind/Psi dom uses her AOE sleep a ton. I love it and live by it.
But I bought the entire Fortunata's Hypnosis set because it was cheap and the bonsus are wonderfull.
But this 20% proc to Placate?
So...in my experience the only time I see Placate being used is by stalkers, Widows and Banes.
So, I don't actually have a stealth power (yet) I may respec into it.
But 20% chance of Placate on an AOE Sleep.
Does this mean if Im taking aggro it will take aggro off of me if I put them to sleep? Because does a sleep not already sort of do that?
I could see an illusion controller using it in Blind because it also excepts sleep IO's but Im not sure I have ever seen this do anything.
Does anyone have information on this set? -
I use it, and It was worth it for me and I am glad I got it as a gift, when originally I looked at it as was all like....What new freaking tech is this!
Now, I find my play experience in CoX and other games much more enjoyable.
Dual Blade combos are more fun now! -
In my experience something like rains etc only proc the damage once. I am unsure of damage auras etc.
I did try to proc off of caltrops and the proc only occured once. Fireball has a burn effect. The initial blast will have the chance to proc the damage but the burn effect or lingering fire damage will not.
