Arc Name: Hero 1, Leader of the Freedom Phalanx
Arc ID: Faction: 517885
Creator Global/Forum Name: @Atomic Twinkie
Difficulty Level: Challenging, but not too difficult (Soloable if you can take on Elite Bosses)
Synopsis: Hero 1 led the Alpha Team frontal assault against the Rikti portal. Since the Freedom Phalanx lost their leader, Hero 1 is currently leading the group. Unfortunately, something is wrong. It is something that should not even exist. Are you brave enough to find out what it is?
Estimated Time to Play: 1 Hour (5x Missions)
Link to More Details or Feedback: This arc is a canon based, save the world story. It is intended to tell a story so reading is required for the full experience. There are some EBs / AVs, so be prepared for some tough fights. -
I have my 3-day pass ordered, so I will be there. I hope Paragon Studios peoples show up.
-
And here I was hoping this was about the new Cricket powerset. Summoning hordes of insects to do your bidding.
Ooo... or maybe the new Cricket powerset. Per requests from the Union server we get to run around smacking people with a cricket bat, using a whole new set of slang, and just being more British.
Hey, it could happen. -
I enjoy the little details. If you walk up to Ms. Liberty in Atlas, she has Excalibur at her hip. Hero1 gave it to her to hold onto until he gets back. That one little detail lead me to reading back story for 30 minutes on Paragon Wiki.
I always wanted Foreshadow's visor thing. The details on Mirror Spirit are great. I would love to see the other members of W.I.S.D.O.M. implemented in the game at some point. <HINT HINT> -
I will also be at NYCC and would LOVE to meet some CoH devs / community peoples there. Maybe we should arrange some kind of CoH get together even if NCsoft doesn't <sniff> show up and <whimper> leaves us all alone. <WAHHH!!> Please come visit us!

Here's what I see as the list of currencies currently in City of Heroes.
Influence
Mission Architect Tickets
vanguard Merits
Reward Merits
Hero Reward Merits
Shards
Threads
Astral Merits
Empyreal Merits
Paragon Points
Veteran Reward Tokens
While Paragon Points and Vet Reward Tokens may not be earned through normal game play, they do directly connect to the game and affect game play. How would you explain all this to a new player. I was subjected to this stuff as specific issues were released. How would someone completely new to this game with no outside assistance figure this out? It seems like it would be quite overwhelming. If they are trying to attract new players to the game, is this the best way to do it?
I would drop tickets, vanguard, and hero merits for straight reward merits. Adjusting costs should make up for rarity on the different items.
I would also create one unit for incarnate items. The newer trials for unreleased incarnate powers would give much more of this resources than the current ones. To control who can access these new trials, just make the newer trials for the unreleased incarnate powers require something similar to Apex / Tin Mage. If you're not at least +3, you are lowered 4 levels and all mobs are level 56. (Level 56 AVs... ugh.) Maybe make incarnate merits that only earned in incarnate trials instead of Astral and Empyreal.
This makes the list...
Influence
Reward Merits
Incarnate Stuffs
Incarnate Merits
Paragon Points
Veteran Reward Tokens
Am I way off base here, or does this sound like it would work? -
I have four characters with Kinetics, and being able to speed boost an entire league with 2 or 3 applications of SB is very awesome!
It's time to brush off my FF / Energy Defender, Knockback Knick. For some reason, tanks don't like him much. -
Quote:I don't really understand this post. It basically amounts to "We want our powers to be made better too! I don't know how, but we want stuff too!"I find it interesting that some folks are of the belief that this change was meant to correct an "imbalance". Cannot find it at the moment, but if I remember correctly, this was "billed" as a QOL improvement for "buffing" sets.
What New Dawn, myself (and others) are trying to say is that Empathy (Poison and Pain) are not being offered some form of QOL as well. Do these sets have similar powers that are easily adjusted? Nope... But having played a considerable amount of time with an Empath (or two, or three), the set should be given some form of reduction in "time spent buffing" WITHOUT making it overpowered. How can this be done ? Good Question.
But it should be done. Thats all I am saying.
For Empathy, how about regen components added to the healing powers in exchange for some of the power. Target gets healed and increased regen for X seconds. Or maybe add a target component to the power, so it heals for X plus an additional X for each enemy in the area around the target it hits. Kind of like a healing Fulcrum Shift.
There are always ways to make a powerset better. But I guarantee that shield powersets spend much more time buffing people than empathy. -
Quote:Have they ever released numbers on the percentage of defenders for each primary powerset? That would be the only way of really verifying this, because my play experience doesn't even come close to your experience with those classes being rare. You guys are making jest but it's Rare to find people who normally play Kins for a long period of time. Cold, Thermal, Kin, FF, Sonic are rare finds especially on a low populated server. Also out of that bunch most don't even buff other casters like they should. I think they are not common as one would think...well compared to Emp defenders and Trollers.
I have 4x 50s with Kinetics. I regularly find other Kin characters on PUGs. I also have a /Thermal MM and a FF/ defender. Bubbles or shields can completely make a team all by themselves, and the whole team becomes nigh invulnerable if you have more than one. I really haven't seen the extreme rarity in those powersets that you have. -
For my two..
Definitely my Kin Defender. The only toon I have with all seven anniversary badges.
My second would be my Stone / Warmace Tanker. I do no damage, but I am nigh invulnerable! (Unless it's psionic attacks, then I pick up the nearest blaster and use him as a shield.) -

Know where your towel is... yup confirmed by Zwillinger.
Wait, this means that... New Towel Powerset... ZOMG! New powerset! Towel/ Scrapper, snapping evil in its behind across Paragon City! -
Just got my 72 month badge and realized I have never done a Hamidon Raid. NEVER!
I have to fix that. It is a moral imperative. Unfortunately, the raid starts when I get off of work during the week, so I will be there on Saturday and Sunday, both redside and blueside. I hope to see people there! -
All I read in any of the OP's posts was "DOOOOoooOOOmmmM!!!!1!1!!"
The stigma that any game that goes free-to-play is automatically in dire straits and is losing subscribers isn't the case in this instance. The devs have said many times that they are making this change from a point of strength. City of Heroes/Villains is not "hurting."
I remember these posts three years into the game... fours years... five years... Well, you get the idea. Even City of Villians was called an effort to save a dying game by some. Now this is the latest reason for "DOOoooOOOMM!!" saying.
Hey, if you feel the game isn't populated enough to keep your interest, I would recommend canceling your subscription and finding something more worth your time. Just remember, only VIP members can post to the forums. -
I have problems filling the 5 slots I currently get on each character with costumes I actually use. I mainly stick with just one or two main costumes. I would assume this would be much more useful for RPers. So, how many costumes slots would you like to have on each character?

Quote:And then screens on the plane kick in and display the words "DON'T PANIC" in large, friendly letters.I just laughed way too hard at imagining a scenario of people avoiding flaming crocodiles in a plane that may at any point fall to pieces.

YAY! Happy Birthday War Witch!

I know I have had some bad experiences in F2P games, an will be slowly moving characters to the VIP server. With the free transfer each month plus 400 points for extra slots as needed, it should be fairly easy.
However, what has made this game great is the community and the fact that we are willing to help new players. There is a chance that we can show these bums a community that doesn't suck. Silver lining and all that. -
I think one of my favorite quotes is from a clue given at the end of a radio mission. (How often do people read those?)
"It's made of Inobtainum, an alloy of Nosuchium and Yeahritium." -

Difficulty Level: 41-54
