    Greetings!

Welcome, Danny. Let us know what server you're playing on; I'm sure you could get some of us to join you in a romp around the City (or Isles).

First there was "Tank + Healer + DPS", and now this thread.

STOP WITH THE MATH IN THREAD TITLES! I don't want to do math all the time!

    Thank you.

The cost of maintaining them will be relatively small.

Larger populations by definition increase the bandwidth usage, and the internet bandwidth costs for NCsoft are not cheap. (check any of their financial reports).

Depending on the relative size of the maintenance, versus the increase in bandwidth from from fewer larger servers, it could be cheaper to keep the current set-up. (It could also be more expensive I don't have the figures, but I can bet you NCsoft does)
I quoted all of Catwhoorg's post because people who play the game have no idea of the server farms, data centers, operations monitoring, and cost analysis that modern online game providers use. The systems development time alone for "merging a server" would be a major undertaking on the back-end. Since these capital expenditures are already paid for, it's actually cheaper for NCSoft to let "servers" wither, while they develop new front-end game content, rather than merge and replace them.

And, as far as informational text on the server selection screen, many new users simply choose a server based on its name and what it says to them. I know I did.

Thank goodness someone other than me finally started one of these threads. I know I should be getting mine in about two weeks or so. Curious, yes!

What is the general consensus on server emptyness?
General? Probably "meh". Although individual consensuses can vary (see previous posts in this thread).

All in all, weekly server maintenance, auto database grooming, log file shipping, and temp file management probably leave the servers with all the space they need.

Well, there used to be the kora fruit missions, where you could score tier 3 inspirations. But farmers got those nerfed. So, I guess to answer your question, not much.

    its easy

and nothing keeps your mind off grinding if you dont have to slowly work your way through mobs like when soloing.
Yes yes yes, on all accounts. Sure, you'll run into some buttcapeheads, but by and large (in my experience) it's a lot of fun, and you can find new in-game friends. Plus when there are others in the team to defeat baddies, you can spend more time being the social, chatty one.

And just let me highlight again Vyver's last sentence. Teaming takes the grindiness away!

The Wedge style didn't originally have a peak in the front center; the banks went basically straight across. The Flip style is extremely different.
Yes, the first one, on my favorite character. It looked more like a hairstyle before; now it's flat against her head. I was never happy with that change.

  19. Frikkin awesome. I still, to this day, have to "Info" most DOs/SOs to make sure I'm buying the right one.

Me. I usually skip "slot" levels, even up to the low 30s. After that, though, I train every level.

COH is not only casual player friendly, it's wallet friendly.

One of the big reasons I continually turn down friends who invite me to play WOW with them is because in order to play with them I'm looking at having to buy not only the retail box just to get into the game, but what -- three? four? -- expansions. In the reverse situation, my friends coming over to COH, they'd only have to shell out for one box -- $9.99 if they pick up an discounted older version at Big Lots or somewhere like that. They'd instantly (well, instantly after the hefty initial download) have all the game I have.
This. Keep it newbie-friendly, and we'll continue to gain new players.

    I found it!

It's like the first three frames could be a blank. You can fill them in with almost anything, and the last frame is still valid.
